Christianity EtcRe: Christianity: A Religion Or A 'Way Of Life'? by mrmayor(m): 11:05am On Sep 13, 2006
Seun:
Every religion is a way of life for its most faithful adherents. Christianity and Islam are not exceptions.
True talk.

Ally,

lioness:
. KEEP YOUR DIGNITY GIRL ~~ and die in silence ~~  grin
Bad advice, why die in silence, this is the twentyfirst century for crying out loud, what a man can do,even better. If a man can can go on his knees and ask for your hand in marriage, you can lie on you stomach and beg for his hand in marriage grin grin only joking.
Please be bold and talk to him, don't assume he is thinking like you
Christianity EtcRe: Dress Code In Church by mrmayor(m): 9:04am On Sep 13, 2006
Radiant,

Radiant:
Is there anywhere in the bible it says black people should dress decently to church. Why is it only dark skinned people that the world tend to criticise most. We see white people come to church half naked as well but we don't say jack. If na black sister, it'll be talk to the day. Y'all spare them dress code shit abeg. For me, I wear anythin i like to Church and I don't listen to anyone. If an usher walks up to me , then h/s is looking for trouble. I praise HIM even with my bra strap hangin out grin
Thanks for your reply,Black people are always Holier than the Pope,I have been to white dominated churches and they are not concerned about how you dress but black churches are "please don't get me started".Black people are obsessed with the way they are seen than who they really are.

Ally1,

I understand where you are coming from,I think the problem is men generally don't feel the biological pressure to get married. You should have a serious discussion with your man,No Holds Barred discussion and get this matter sorted out ASAP
ComputersRe: EFCC Ban On Night Browsing In Cyber-cafes by mrmayor(m): 4:23pm On Sep 12, 2006
Seun,

This is interesting,I just call a friend who was planning on setting up a Cyber Cafe for his parents in Nigeria,he's got over 20 computers to start off in October. Please give me more information on this Night browsing story.

What is Night browsing? From what time does this ban start, from 6pm-6am?

The ban is nothing but ridiculous, how do you stop a fraudulent email being sent during the day?If I was a Fraudster,I will definitely like to browse from home not from a public place.
RomanceRe: My Boyfriend Hasn't Asked Me To Marry Him by mrmayor(m): 4:00pm On Sep 12, 2006
My people,

What I don't get is why do women insist on the "M"word 2 weeks into the relationship, take a step back and enjoy the moment. What pisses me off is whenever women bring up this issue of non committing boyfriend they always tell you that there are men queuing to marry them. huh
HealthRe: Can Two People With AS Genotype Marry? by mrmayor(m): 3:39pm On Sep 12, 2006
@Darkmanzero,

I don't get your attack on Kathernae, any doctor in a western country is bound by law to offer best advice to their patients,I really can't remember how its done in Nigeria but there is nothing wrong with her advice.I know an Irish  friend who had actually taken the step of Genetic Screening and it has saved her from the pain of seeing her child suffer from Downs Syndrome.Downs Syndrome is actually worst than Sickle Cell as it disfigures the person, leaving many disable and mentally ill.

Her Irish doctors adviced to abort and she had her abortion in Manchester,UK because abortion is illegal in Ireland.
Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: orical Question) by mrmayor(m): 7:05pm On Sep 11, 2006
Meda,

Welcome to Nairaland, hope you are having fun so far.Your question is a really difficult one to answer, getting into a serious relationship with a Single Mum or a Man who has a child already takes a lot of maturity. Its especially difficult if the man has no children of his own,our society ridicules man who dates a Single Mum!nobody wants a "Woman Wey Don Drop Engine",I mean no disrespect with that statement.

I have been in that situation myself and I have no regrets, the relationship only ended because of Long Distance wahala.I hope you find better luck in the future.

Cheers.

Reprimanded? For what if I may ask? This two met and talked about their lives, the worst sin the guy has committed is Gossiping! The last time I check its no crime.Nobody can prove she didn't give her consent in him sharing their discussions.

On this site many members have come with nagging questions about what their friends and families are supposed to have done or going through in life and everyone including Almighty Seun has offered advice on what we all think. What happens if the aggrieved party decides to report to Seun, would he Ban everyone including himself.

If there is one thing I can't stand is Self Righteousness.Any information you decided to share with another person can end up in public domain. If you don't want your secrets in the open, keep it firmly locked in the cellar.

Kapish!
RomanceRe: Graduate Weds Non Graduate: Is It Possible? by mrmayor(m): 3:31pm On Sep 10, 2006
Funloving,

You hit the nail on the head with your reply, its very Nigerian to talk about Grads vs Non Grads issue,In Europe it makes no difference if you actually been to University as long as you have a good job.My former landlord who runs is own building company owns over 20 houses in Ireland worth over £4 million and his just 33 yrs old.He has engineers, accounts, lawyers working for him.

At the beginning of the New Year when the RICH LIST is published, the most intriguing fact was out of the 100 richest Irish people worth over 30 billion Euros and more than 14 thousand employees,67 of these people left secondary school early to learn a trade and start there own business, you don't need an MBA to make it in life.

I will never judge a woman by some piece of paper that indicates she has first class or whatever,it doesn't mean that she loves me,or be faithful, responsible, kind,be my friend or make a good mother.

Bill Gates left College,Richard Bronson never went to College but you guys would be queuing to answer YES SIR to them! I wonder WHY

HealthRe: Can Two People With AS Genotype Marry? by mrmayor(m): 12:54pm On Sep 09, 2006
SEUN,

Seun:
The woman will spend months before she finally decides to abort, then spend the rest of her life feeling guilty about it because pastor said that abortion is murder.
I agree with you, pragmatism in my view is the main difference between Whites and Africans.I'm AA but I would still insist on Genetic Screening when I get married,if my unborn child has any kind of disorder I will abort.I have no intention of marring any righteous woman who gets her pastors approval before we do any thing
HealthRe: Can Two People With AS Genotype Marry? by mrmayor(m): 12:35pm On Sep 09, 2006
@All,

There is actually a way out for a couple with AS genotype, the solution is genetic screening while the woman is still pregnant, its easy to determine if the fetus/baby  is AA,AS or SS and can easily abort if its SS.
An Irish friend travelled to the UK to have an abortion recently because her unborn baby was diagnosed with Downs syndrome,I doubt how many African families would agree to abortion in advance of marriage.I'm the ultimate pragmatist

Seun,

What this member did was outside NL and he can't possibly have broken the rules! If she reports this guy to you,the least you can do is give him the opportunity to defend himself!every story has two sides to it.

Banning people on a whim is childish,I suppose I get banned for saying this.

@demmy0405,

I feel your pain,my advice to you is don't share info about yourself with strangers, especially Righteous ones,he probably have used your story to preach in church.
PoliticsRe: Blair's Future by mrmayor(m): 12:25am On Sep 08, 2006
Chxta,

Accusations or insinuations is based on history,Mr Blair can't possibly loot the Treasury because he doesn't control it,public institutions like the Inland Revenue,HM Treasury,Customs,Bank of England,Police etc run the country.Parliament makes the policies and public servants run the country.

Abdulsalam,Babaginda,Shagari all stole from public coffers when the knew the end was nigh

LiteratureRe: Why Can't We Make The New York Times Bestsellers List? by mrmayor(m): 12:05am On Sep 08, 2006
Orikinla,

Consider this thought,Americans/Europeans don't give a F**Ck about African writers and books, please do not be deceived by reviews of African Books by the BBC and other African forums.
The man on the street cares about what happens to Americans and Europeans, books that make on western list are books that cause a sensation like Davinci Code Harry Porter,if black film makers are finding it hard to break into main stream cinema how much more writers, when they west want to see Africa they watch Discovery Channel
Purple Hibiscus made it up the New York bestseller list because Oprah Winfrey discussed it on her show,if you want to make on that list,I suggest you contact Oprah

CrimeRe: Britain Is Now 'Worse Than 20 Years Ago' by mrmayor(m): 11:31pm On Sep 05, 2006
If Nigeria provided the same opportunities Britain provides for its people, it will be a far safer place than Britain. One of the main reasons Nigeria is in its current state is it serves the West for it to be in a constant state of chaos.

Over here in Britain you get the same things

Ritual killings - see freemasonary, satanism etc
Rape - Minicab drivers, date rape etc
Raping & murdering of young children - paedophilia is rife in Britain goes all the way to the top (ties in with ritual killings)
Corruption - Government scandals
MI6 killings - see David Kelly. lady Diana and numerous cases that have not grabbed the attention of the media
'Black on Black' killings - Paranoia, trainers got taken, revenge killings, street gangs
Drug related killings - between yardies, east europeans, triads
Gang warfare - Essex boys
Driveby shootings - young black men heavily influenced by drugs, MTV rap videos and American Ghetto life
and to top it off you have terrorists aka Police
There is crime everywhere on earth but the key question is how are these crimes detected and punished?
1.Ritual killings introduced by Nigerians,am still can't remember a Freemason killing shocked
2.Minicab and date rape when reported are investigated, prosecuted and jailed when convicted. How many rapes are even reported in Nigeria
3.Pedophilia is a serious crime and taken seriously in Britain, that can not be said of Nigeria!
4.David Kelly committed suicide,Diana the jury is still out on that. How many people have being killed by state agents in Nigeria,Zakki Ibiam,Odi etc
5.Gang warfare is a world wide thing,Ireland have their own Westies and E17s gangsters.

The claim that most Nigerians living in Britain are poorer than when they were in Nigeria is ridiculous,Nigerians who with degrees who end up doing cab have no Kpali or their qualifications are not recognized in the UK.
The fact is that even if you work in Macdonals, you can still save over £80 a week and at the end of the year you would have well over £4000 that is when you don't have to send money home.
Nigerians who do early morning work have no "Kpali"paper  period.
CrimeRe: Britain Is Now 'Worse Than 20 Years Ago' by mrmayor(m): 10:41am On Sep 05, 2006
Orikinla,

You are one of those people embarrassed about when their opinion are found to be wanting, you are struggling what suppling real data on how Nigeria is safer.
Logic is this,

1.How many people are Raped in Nigeria? Housegirls,Female Undergraduates etc
2.How many people are killed the police for N5 bribe, how many are kill by Armed Robbers,How many are killed for Rituals?Remember Okija Shrine and numerous others killing grounds

Atleast in Britain, those who stabbed Damilola are now behind bars,so are rapist. What about those who killed your Bola Ige,Marshall Harry?
CrimeRe: Britain Is Now 'Worse Than 20 Years Ago' by mrmayor(m): 1:02am On Sep 05, 2006
Brits may be in fear of terrorism but what are Nigerians in fear of?

1.Justice Minister is murdered and nothing happen!
2.OBJ sends his army to murder Nigerians in Odi and Zakki ibiam
3.Miss World,Cartoon Riots/massecres,yet Nigeria is safer than Britain.

Orikinla, please write about things you know about!I will feel safer in Dagenam in London,an area known for racist attack than feel anywhere in Nigeria.
I repeat those who take take the time to go through a phone survey which by the way its how surveys are done in the UK are pensioners who have seen the UK change beyond recognition.
The UK has the highest number of CCTV cameras in use, from the time you get out your house to when you get to work you are on camera, detection and conviction are high
Maybe you should contact, the Home Office,Police or the CPS for the true state of security in Britain,BTW the aim of the survey is how people feel, and not the state of security

Orikinla:
Everyone on earth knows that America and Britain are daily targets of the terrorist suicide bombers and people now get hypertensive on buses, trains and planes.
Nigerians are not in fear of attacks? Like I stated earlier stop postings threads about everything you read on the net
