Jobs/VacanciesThe Psychology Of The Job Interview: 6 Amazing Ways To Win An Interviewer by msmon(op):
In the brutal, often disheartening world of online job applications, landing a face-to-face interview has become a commendable feat in itself, and can instill anxiety in even the
bravest of applicants. You’ve prepped for the interview, picked out the power suit and now it’s time for the big day. We turned to
question-and-answer-site Quora for some great psychology tips, tricks and techniques to use during a job interview to increase the chances of nailing in the position.

Here’s what respondents had to say about winning recruiters over, putting on your game face and the power of body language.

The hands have it

Your hands can make a positive or negative
impression. There’s nothing worse than a cold
handshake when you greet an interviewer, according to Susan Bearry. “Dry, warm hands inspire confidence. Cold, clammy hands are a big unconscious turn-off,” she wrote. “When you get
there early, go to the bathroom and warm your hands, either under hot water or under a hand dryer…Psychological studies have shown that even holding a warm cup of coffee makes someone feel more positive about the person he or she is talking
to.”

Once the interview begins, keep hand gestures to a minimum so as not to detract from the discussion.
“Keep your hands in sleep mode,” wrote Sharad Dhumane. “If you use them, let it be a slow, small movement.”

Resist the temptation to cross your arms, Melinda Edwards wrote: “This gives off the vibe that you're closing in on yourself and not willing to understand.”

Mirror, mirror

Zambelli Sylar Federico recommends mirroring your interviewer’s body movements to gain their trust. It’s a technique, he said, good salesmen often employ to close deals. “By mirroring their movements, tone, gestures, breathing pace and so on, you're basically communicating: ‘Hey, we’re playing the same tune here. We're akin. You can trust me,’” he wrote.

But, you have to be subtle, Federico noted. “They scratch their nose with left hand, you touch your face with right hand. They cross their legs, you cross legs the opposite way. And so forth,” he explained. “After you feel confident with body language you might want to move on with [mirroring] tone [of voice]: as you may be well aware, some people speak at a very fast and intermittent pace, others are very slow, others have instead a rhythm.”

Slowing things down

Time is of the essence but that doesn’t mean you need to rush the interview. “I once had a boss who was really into meditation and he told me later that he really liked that I breathed slowly and deeply in our interview because he knew I would keep cool under pressure and would have a calming influence on him,” wrote Bearry. “Short, rapid breaths or running out of air when talking is a clear sign of nervousness and it can make your interviewer edgy as well.”

When answering a question, don't feel compelled to answer immediately every time, “especially if you get a question that could trip you up,” wrote Tim Chi.
“It is OK, and sometimes even preferable, to take some extra time to think over your response.”

This, he wrote, can help in two ways:
>It takes off some of the pressure to memorise canned responses.
>It projects confidence: When you take some time to answer, instead of rushing, it communicates to people that you know your own value.
One caveat: “Don't wait that long, or else you might just seem spacey and nervous,” Chi wrote.

Act confidently but don’t overdo it

How can you project confidence when you’re anxious?
Try not to let it show and never apologise for it.
“Body language and nonverbal communication is a missing piece of what makes for a successful interview,” according to John Sannicandro, a psychotherapist. “Practice the way you sit, stand and walk to increase your confidence.”

Smile, maintain eye contact with the interviewer and try not to fidget, added Edwards. Fidgeting, she wrote, “makes the interviewer uncomfortable somehow, because they see how restless you are.”

While a nervous candidate may not endear themselves to an employer, acting overly confident can also send the wrong message. “They don't want an arrogant jerk, unless you're already famous in your field; then they'll overlook it,” Carole Grimley wrote. “Just be polite, act the way everyone else does.”

Listen carefully, talk when appropriate

It’s important to chime in and answer questions so an interviewer gets a sense whether you can do the job, but never interrupt your interviewer.
“Sometimes interviewees are over eager to show that they ‘get it’ or that they are a quick study, but no one ever likes being interrupted,” Bearry wrote.

Also avoid long speeches. “Unless demanded by the situation, use your mouth sparingly,” Dhumane wrote. “Just be natural.”

Observe reactions

Facial expressions can be very telling, but it works both ways. While an interviewer is observing you, you should also be observing them, taking note of how he or she reacts to your responses.

The important part is to know if they are interested in what you have to say, according to Shino San. “If they seem disinterested, learn to stop speaking even if you have something amazing to share,” San said.
“Be precise, and if they show interest in your topic, speak it loud and up. Let them know who you are and why the want you.”

You said Nigerian are not stupid but some are and propaganda play prominent role in Nigeria politics. We have three categories of electorates(i.e the Yes, the No, the Undecided) and propaganda can change the undecided to either Yes or No group.

PoliticsPVCs Distribution 'Deliberate Failure' Designed To Rig 2015 Polls — Tinubu by msmon(op):
By Olasunkanmi Akoni and Dapo Akirefon

All Progressives Congress, APC, National Leader and
immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju
Bola Tinubu, has accused the Independent National
Electoral Commission, INEC, of planning to, deliberately, rig the 2015 general elections.

Tinubu, who stated this yesterday at a media briefing held at the APC Secretariat in Lagos, declared that the ongoing distribution of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), which commenced on Friday in Lagos, has failed.

The APC stalwart also criticised INEC for conducting
the exercise in only 11 out of the original 20 local
governments in the state, recognised by the Federal
Government, while demanding that INEC should
repeat and simultaneously conduct the exercise
across the state.

He said, “This is a colossal failure and it has eroded
my confidence in INEC to be able to midwife
successful 2015 general elections. INEC must start
the process afresh. The exercise must be conducted
simultaneously across the 20 local governments
recognised by INEC, at the same time.
“If they fail, we shall not disclose our strategy; if the
exercise fails, something will happen. May be we will go on the streets to protest, may be we will go to court, we won’t reveal our strategy”, but we have our demands”, he said.

Tinubu, though exonerated the ad-hoc INEC staff,
who are majorly undergoing the National Youth
Service Corps scheme, put the major blame on the
leadership of the Commission.
He stated: “We cannot blame the Youth Corps
members who are just helping, it is not their fault. It
is the people in charge from Abuja that failed.

“Four years ago, we sympathised with Jega, when he apologised to the nation over a failed exercise, but what are they going to say again?
“They had four years to plan and put their acts
together. This is a deliberate ploy to fail. They did it
deliberately to plan their rigging strategy”.

On the reduction of the voters list from over six
million people to less than five million in Lagos,
Tinubu demanded an immediate reinstatement of
the almost two million voters delisted from the list.
“INEC cannot disenfranchise anybody. We are
reporting the matter to our national secretariat.
Those people removed from the voters’ register are
almost two million. That is not acceptable, they must be put back on the list,’’ The APC leader said.

“INEC does not have the power to reduce or remove
anybody. INEC is not a court of law. By this action,
INEC has flouted the Electoral Act. “You cant say
almost two million people are ghosts. If there is
multiple registration, INEC must publish the names
of those people.

“These almost two million people voted in 2011, are
you saying they are ghosts. Were they ghosts when
they voted in 2011? INEC has failed and this is a
deliberate failure”.

Tinubu who wondered why INEC could not get the
process right in four years pointed out that the, de-
listing of voters in Lagos, hitches and seeming
failures were deliberate to pave way for rigging of the election.

How sure is Jega?. Rightly, efforts have been put in place to afford rigging come 2015 election but we all know that rigging is a matter of number. Gone are the days when politicians use tugs to carry ballot box, your REC will be bribed to increase the number. It's only in Nigeria politics that 16 persons are more that 19 people. Only in Nigeria, a polling unit with 120 registered voter has 320 cast votes. So, there will definitely be rigging Mr. Jega, you can only try to keep it under watch to the minimal.

PoliticsJonathan Bows To Pressure, Offers Automatic Tickets To 2 Senators Per State by msmon(op):
Omololu Ogunmade in Abuja

President Goodluck Jonathan along with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday succumbed to pressure from PDP senators protesting their losses at the November 1 ward congresses of the party by agreeing to give automatic tickets to two incumbent senators from each state at the 2015 polls.

The decision was a swift reaction to a week boycott of plenary sessions by the Senate and simultaneous
declaration of solidarity for the defection of Speaker
of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal,
from PDP to APC on October 28 with a threat to team up with the House to impeach the president if that became an option to explore.

However, in a swift response to the Senate's action
and their level of bitterness over alleged moves by
governors to unseat them next year, Jonathan along
with NWC members of PDP met with the aggrieved
senators at the First Lady's House in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday night where it was agreed that at least two senators would be given return tickets to the Senate.

Although the meeting was initially scheduled for
Wednesday at 10 pm in the Presidential Villa, it was
re-scheduled to Thursday following the president's
trip to Ouagadougou, the Burkinafaso's capital.
The meeting which held between 9 pm and 12am
ended with the senators beaming with smiles and
dropping their grievances at the Villa.
One of the senators who did not want to be named,
disclosed to THISDAY that the resolve to return at
least two senators from each state was read by
National Chairman of PDP, Adamu Mu'azu, at the end of the meeting.

According to him, the matter was treated as a family affair adding that the governors in that family affair's spirit had equally agreed to respect the resolution.
“We have just come back from the Villa. The party
has capitulated to governors. It was agreed that two
senators per state at a minimum would return. The
party chairman announced it at the end of the
meeting. The party said the governors had agreed to it. It was a family affair resolution,” the senator said in a text message to THISDAY.

Having been placated, the senators who came under fire for the better part of last week from Nigerians who were angry with their decision to shut down a national institution because of their alleged selfish objectives are expected to resume full legislation which they had crippled for one week.

The senators had last week alleged betrayal by the
president whom they said they had maximally
supported prior to his emergence as Acting President on February 9, 2009 up to this last weekend. The height of their bitterness towards the President was the decision to shut down the Senate throughout the week, throwing out all items on the Order Paper and vowing to sustain the trend indefinitely until the President addressed their grievances.

While Tuesday's plenary was put off till Wednesday,
the situation grew worse the following day as the
Senate did not only shut down the chamber but also adjourned plenary to November 11.
While claiming that Jonathan had lost the Senate's
strong support like the case in the House of
Representatives, the aggrieved senators also
threatened to frustrate the consideration and prompt passage of the 2015 budget, insisting that they would also shut down the entire government in pursuit of their personal goals.

Like an earlier poster said, if at all you will post related pics for public consumption, it should be taken from a suitable library with a wide array of different books on diverse subjects.

It is not good for Reuben to post a picture of the President reading "Eze goes to school" at mid night with his full regalia on. It is funny how Reuben captured him start from beginning and his poses to the end of the book.

A part of me deeply likes Mr Jonathan. He looks like he would make a good father, uncle and friend. I feel a lot of pity for him mere looking at these pictures. He seems out of control.

Every part of me dislikes President Jonathan. It takes more than humble beginnings and a cute smile to lead a complex nation like Nigeria. We have never been so disorganized as a nation as we presently are under him. History would have forever been thankful to him if he did not re-contest 2015 and scout for a new leader with the right intellectual acumen and acuteness to succeed him and lead Nigeria forward.
