As if we don't see married couples around us every day, as if we don't have them in our families. majority are just there for the sake of it. Many Africans have kids because they see them as investments. An average African home is not rich and they have kids, so that one or all the kids can be successful and pay them back, hence the reason many mother-in-law usually have issues with their daughter-in-law because they do feel cheated. They see the daughter-in-law as someone that wants to reap where she didn't sow. Poverty has damaged many people's way of reasoning.

Also, they wanna have kids so that at old age, one of them will accommodate them and burden them with their problem. Here in Nigeria, many parents are fond of such because everyone has seen it as norms.

It's easy to get a housekeeper in Nigeria because many people will accept the ridiculous amount you want to pay due to extreme poverty. Also, most Nigerian families rarely hire househelp because there would surely be a family out there that you can unofficially adopt their daughter in exchange for feeding, shelter, allowance, etc. It's a win-win for both parties. In most cases, such daughter is underage and won't be allowed by these wicked and selfish people to attend school. And you must understand that we don't have standard health care law in this country, so it's easier for some people to even take in their parents and go to work, then come back before attending to their needs properly, which is wrong.

Some pharmacies offer better primary healthcare than some hospitals. The problem is that most of those Nigerians who self medicate patronize quacks who go by the name patent medicine dealers. Even when they go to pharmacies, they don't seek professional advice from the pharmacists before buying drugs.

Pharmacy curricula in most schools in Nigeria train very sound pharmacists who are well rounded in not only drugs but primary healthcare generally, but these intelligent pharmacists are underutilized due to ignorance. This is despite that they don't usually charge any consultation fees!

We need to restructure the health sector. As long as we don't have standard Primary Health Care Centres, many will continue patronizing roadside pharmacies and that will lead to continuous self-medication because they are buying drugs with no diagnoses and physician prescription.

Primary Health Care is what Nigeria should work on. An average citizen have nothing to do at Teaching Hospitals or General Hospitals always except it's a must to consult a specialist.

Some families are horrible. I am a victim of horror in-laws myself, so I am talking first-hand. There is a video of the mother confronting the IVD guy, yet everyone keeps screaming "IVD beat the wife's mother" when he didn't even lay a finger on her. Most of them think courts act based on sentiments and all. They'd all be disappointed.

But how/why do y'all marry toxic partner/spouse, talk more of horrible in-laws, to begin with?

The judge doesn't need to believe anything. Judges act based on evidence and the results of investigations and interrogations. And with what I have seen so far, the guy has the stronger case.

If he abandoned her on the way to the hospital, he may be found guilty of some other offense, maybe manslaughter in the worst-case scenario but it would definitely be some lower offense (if he really abandoned her, that is). Outside of that, these people don't have a case.

If I was a Judge, I would set IVD free. The family has got no solid evidence for their stupid accusations.

IVD shouldn't be blamed for what happened. She was an 18-year-old when she started with him, which qualified her as an adult that could make decisions on her own, and responsible for whatever actions she could take onwards.

She was just being foolish, no self-esteem and not ambitious in life. This is not about blood covenant bullshit! Ignorant family with dumb accusations.

Both couples were toxic to each other and both deserved what happened to them.
