PoliticsRe: Only Few Nigerians Are Complaining Of Going Through Hardship – Femi Adesina by murmee: 9:18am On Jul 10, 2016
What a very silly thing to say! So insensitive, so annoying. There is nobody I have met that is not complaining about the hardship in the country.

Businesses have either collapsed or down because of lack of electricity and foreign exchange, large numbers of people are losing their jobs in banks and industries, civil servants are owed more than 6 months arrears of salary, there is massive graduate unemployment, prices of every commodity, especially food has tripled, the price of petrol was recently jerked up from N86.50 to N145, kerosene and cooking gas is is no longer affordable, cost of Air, land and sea transportation is very high. I can go and on.

For somebody in this same country to now say only a few people are complaining of hardship is the height of irresponsibility. I will advise Femi Adeshina not to walk the streets of anywhere in Nigeria for some time because people are VERY angry with what he has just said.

He is a Yoruba man from Nigeria. He is not from England or USA. Go and tell Kendrick Lamar to do his songs in Yoruba. You guys don't understand one thing about this guy... "He does what we understand (especially in the western part of Nigeria) Little wonder he always trend.
Wo, God will bless you. Apart from the points you raised, Olamide appeals to both old and young. He is very talented and creative. What I particularly like about his music is that his songs don't sound alike. One song is different another. He is a Yoruba man and there's nothing wrong of he sings in his mother tongue. South Westerners adore him so much!!!

Out of all the Governors in Oyo state, Governor Ajimobi stands out. Even a blind person will see his work in Oyo state. He would have continued at that pace if not for limited funds which is affecting the whole country. Do you want to compare his administration with that of Alao-Akala?

I am sure you are a civil servant and for your information, Oyo state does not belong to civil servants alone. So you cannot expect the Governor to use all the money accruing to Oyo State to pay the salaries of civil servants.

What about past Governors (e.g. Alao-Akala) and a lot of present Governors that are doing next to nothing, are they not also paid to do their jobs? Let's appreciate and encourage the good ones for heaven's sake. It is to our own benefit at the end.

Am surprised people still want to use that error.

In PH, it's free sha...
If you are using electric cooker, boiling ring and you leave your bathroom water heater on indefinitely, your credit will run out fast. Prepaid meter is still better than any other type of billing because you can sensibly regulate your energy consumption. It also requires discipline.
BusinessRe: Open Message To CBN: Solution To The Arising One Chance Bus & ATM Theft. by murmee: 8:05pm On Jul 05, 2016
naijafresh:
My solution is simple.

Have a code red PIN number. When used under duress your account simply states you have no funds available for withdrawal and asks you to contact your bank.
So even if you are dragged to the ATM at gun point there is no way of seeing that you have secretly blocked access to your account.

Bank security please take note
You are a GENIUS.Very brilliant idea. Kudos!!!!!

Cool idea.

But Nigerian criminals are some of the most resourceful in the world. They will always find ways to beat any innovation.

If it's biometric, no problem. Move the victim at gunpoint to do the ATM withdrawal.
Are you not aware that security men are stationed at the bank premises 24/7, especially at night. It will not be easy.

Why e no be police sef?na wa!
After clearing the Police from the roads because of road blocks and extortion from motorists, why was the FRSC left on the roads to continue the same thing? Are they actually supposed to stop vehicles (especially cars) to demand to see vehicle papers or are they supposed to see to the general safety of Nigerian roads as in prompt attention to accident victims, removing dangerous objects from the roads and diverting trafficking in case of gridlocks etc? I think their job need to be redefined. What they do right now is mostly harassment of motorists and EXTORTION!

Do not carry your ATM cards at all times. Always use the ATM machines that is within walking distance from your home or office. Leave your ATM cards at home or in your office if it is safe to do so.

If you are traveling, withdraw the amount you need before traveling and leave your cards at home. If you need more money when you get to your destination, you can then walk into a branch of your bank and use your cheque book. Even savings account has withdrawal booklets.

2packer:
The blame is not just on the previous tenant only. Sometimes after the tenants move out without outstanding arrear but phcn keep producing bill for such houses even when they know that no one is staying there. If it's five months before a new tenant enters the apartment then automatically you will find five months bill outstanding. Long story short PHCN is dubious, these rubbish will only stop when citizens start suing them and the judiciary waking up to their responsibilities as well
That is why a prepaid meter is better than estimated billing or analog meters.

Ok, this is helpful. Haven't used a prepaid metre before but planning to get one. I actually met a bill of over 320k that I'm still slugging out with my landlady, who by the way has stopped picking calls.

But is there a way to know even before you pay the rent and move into the house?
Just like the OP said, ask for the last electric bill of the apartment you want to rent. Do not pay until you see the bill.

greggng:
Estimated billings can make one sick that's why people find it hard to pay
You are quite right. I know a block of 6 flats where about 4 flats are owing more than N300,000 each because of estimate billing. There's virtually no light and IKDC gives them a bill of N9,000 every month!
PropertiesRe: Before You Rent That House!!! by murmee: 8:11am On Jul 03, 2016
Ranchhoddas:
How the person manage to owe them like that? You too start to owe your own.
You can owe electric bill only if you are on estimate billing or you are using analog meter. There's no way you can owe if you are on prepaid meter. You either buy credit (recharge) and have light or you don't buy credit and be in darkness.
PropertiesRe: Before You Rent That House!!! by murmee: 8:03am On Jul 03, 2016
codemaniacs:
You're wrong about prepaid meters.. It uses card once the credit on the card has finished the light goes off...
Arrears on prepaid meters are deducted installmentally when you want to recharge your card (buy credit) depending on how much arrears on the meter.

If the debt on a prepaid meter is N120,000 for example, you might be asked to pay N8,000 every month to clear the debt. What that means is that you will use about N13,000 every month to recharge.

That is N8,000 for debt and N5000 to buy about 200 units of credit (recharge). If your money is not up to that N13,000 you will not be able to recharge which means you will be in darkness.

The way prepaid meters accrue debts is when the meter is installed for someone that was on estimate bills or analog meter and he had not been paying his bills.

To achieve this, the income of an average Nigerian will be high, because a stable electricity means a higher bill.... If we are to get 24/7 electricity, then each house must be ready to pay 30,000 monthly.....
That is not correct. With a prepaid meter, you can regulate or control the amount of energy you consume.

ITbomb:
Yes

All the problems of Nigeria is because of over centralization.
Fashola did say that provision of electricity is not rocket science because in a smaller area, it is easier to troubleshoot and implement.

I love his new proposal that north should have a different grid (generating and transmission system), middle belt different, same with SS, SE and SW but I know the King in the North will never allow that
Anything that will make the South of Nigeria free and develop will be blocked by the North.

it's possible, if the grid gets decentralized or segmented and the customers all get prepaid meters.

Some places in PH have 23/7 light.
Good people, DECENTRALIZATION in every facet is what Nigeria need to develop.
