Tamaratonye5: Absolutely no concern. I was addressing your contribution/s coming into my thread. Please dont make me laugh. Your thread, your thread indeed. Must be some life achievement having a " my thread"
If its absolutely no concern, then why not stay focussed on particularly discussing what faith really is on "your thread" than to be poking your nose into my business. Hmm? I dont give a rat's arse about you. I dont need to be soliciting and/or fishing for info about you before I can interact with you Tamaratonye5: Unfortunately, it's becoming obvious that you are more interested in playing mind games and don't want to engage in honest discussions. You prematurely seem to be running out steam and/or breath Tamaratonye5: Another physical law at work, eh, like gravity? Mechanical failure, humans not "gifted" with foresight to "know" the consequences to everyday life and interactions with our environment. He had confidence and hoped (based on previous safe flights and a knowledge) BUT this particular flight didn't grant him a positive experience… Was Kobe's, too, a mechanical failure, hmm? Tamaratonye5: Driving to work, crossing the street, taking a shower… risk and reward. Humans are capable of evaluating both. " 23Jesus replied, “Why do you say ‘if you can’? Anything is possible for someone who has faith!” 24At once the boy's father shouted, “I do have faith! Please help me to have even more. (i.e. I believe! Help my lack of faith)" - Mark 9:23-24Risk, is a function of faith. Driving to work, crossing the street, taking a shower et cetera are each and/or all stepping out in faith. If you lacked faith you won't step out to drive to work, cross the street, take a shower et cetera. Humans, have different aptitude of evaluating faith Tamaratonye5: Judge, jury and executioner! You thought my post was that thorough? Flattery will get you nowhere Smh, your post was feeble, shallow and blathering. Go back to re-read the " Judge, jury and executioner" comment and see that it typed responding to " Why is it they dont get one and are doomed to eternal punishment? Right, logical" Tamaratonye5: I presented a short informed critical assessment, not complete of course, about Paul’s life and views, not altogether original, but honest, and your only response is to deride my humble effort? You seem to have a low esteem of yourself because you are under different illusions, if its not falsely crying out about being subjected to ad hominem, it will be about your Paul comment being derided or taking harmless and innocent remarks as " ... employing terse derogatory responses". If I should ask, will you be able to provide proof, of me deriding your " ... short informed critical assessment, not complete of course, about Paul’s life and views ..." humble effort, hmm? Tamaratonye5: I know you were displeased because I didn’t even get a Bible quote this time. Just so you know, I have a high displeasure threshold, my please mode was 10000% intact and unwavering. I could see the sense and/or point to waste needful and appropriate Bible quote, that's going to swoosh jet fighter fly over heads, so I stayed mute. There is the Bible quote that states about Apostle Paul and his letters, as being often misunderstood, so I can only empathise with you misunderstanding Apostle Paul Tamaratonye5: Your preferred forum style seems to be using powerful rebuttals over minor issues, (‘G’ or ‘g’ for god? It does matter despite what you think.) employing terse derogatory responses, when you apparently lack appropriate Bible verses, and inserting quaint meaningless "deepity" statements (the sun will always set in the west) to promote a false air of wisdom and a puzzling reluctance to reveal the denomination of your professed Christian faith. I cant imagine why. If you are wise, you'll take my post(s) for what it is and not how it’s delivered. There is no denomination in the kingdom of heaven. God is denomination agnostic. Protocol, requires the right designation be used God and god. Does it bother you when I used "G" instead of "g" for God, hmm? Tamaratonye5: Yes, I understand you are a person of profound faith in your god and Bible and that you think I am lamentably hell bound. How did you compute, I think you you're lamentably hell bound? That, right there, is something straight out of the book of a " Judge, jury and executioner" Tamaratonye5: You need to accept that I have quite a lot of personal experience and understanding about belief and religion. We are not going to shift each other’s viewpoint and the effort would be a waste of words and time. Are you always in the habit of making assumptions. Of course you have quite a lot of personal experience and understanding about belief and religion, so the reason why I earlier advanced that, you too daily transact in faith " If a crooked stick is before you, you need not explain how crooked it is. Lay a straight one down by the side of it, and the work is well done". I cant remember where I read that from, but sure is better than aim to shift another’s viewpoint Tamaratonye5: I’m tired of you already. I can read my own Bible quotes and I can follow theological arguments in profound detail reading Aquinas or Origen et al and for quaint meaningless "deepities" I always have my desk calendar, lol.
Edited for inclusion Aquinas or Origen must be flawless two headed human beings. The realisation of how hollow a person is, is enough to make such take off and bolt |

Tamaratonye5: One can not have religion without faith. Religion has not provided one shred of evidence for a god. You're darting and leaping all over the place Tamaratonye5: I have been in a helicopter, in a storm, and looked out one window to see the opposite horizon. We were practically inverted. It was fun, but for me not a great concern. I knew the aircraft thoroughly, and the level of competence of the pilots. It was not "faith", but an understanding of the laws of physics, the level of competence of the pilots, and the capabilities of the aircraft.
My trust was not misplaced, those were the very same pilots who managed to set the rear end of their helicopter on the small landing pad of a Russian trawler, flying backwards, in a storm. it was an emergency evacuation of a man with acute appendicitis. I know of Arsenal football legend, Dennis Bergkamp who won't fly. Dennis was put off flying for life after an engine cut out during a flight to the USA 94 World Cup. I am sure Dennis, has an understanding of the laws of physics, the level of competence of the pilots, and the capabilities of the aircraft Kobe Bryant liked getting around the vast Los Angeles metropolitan area by helicopter but he and his wife “ had a deal” that they would never ride in helicopters together. Them two, aren't dumb nor are they dumb analogies. Tamaratonye5: Actually - faith is already defined by the bible in Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Why wouldn’t I have confidence in the Law of Gravity? That’s a dumb analogy. Subtle shading hmm? I didnt say you wouldn't. What I typed was, something in the line of ignorance of the law excuses no one. If you dont believe in something/something, doesnt mean its/him/her influence won't affect you. If you dont believe in Justin Trudeau, it doesnt mean you're immune from, won't benefit or be affected by his government policies Tamaratonye5: There is demonstrable evidence of its existence and it’s explanation or description by science is commonly accepted. Jesus and Peter demonstrated that the law of gravity can be made useless by a superior, stronger and better law Tamaratonye5: Ahhh, now the games begin, eh? See what faith gets you when you extend it towards a fellow man, lol. So, you aren't saying you are Christian or that you aren't Christian or that you even believe the bible to be god inspired or anything, right? My reply in response to your bible faith definition to me of: "is heard comes through the message about Christ". My bad for assuming you linked faith to Christ or Christians (tsk, tsk, tsk) Instead of charges, please provide proof of your accusations Tamaratonye5: Do you believe the bible to be God's word? Are you a Christian? Do you believe Jesus is God?I wouldn’t want to assume anything moving forward What does it matter to you, if I am a Christian, huh. Who Christian epp? You dont believe the Bible to be God's word, I doubt you believe that Jesus is God, so whats your concern Tamaratonye5: Thank you for the ad hominem attack. Duly noted. Smh, ad hominem attack indeed. Mtcheew Tamaratonye5: Paul of Tarsus wrote a lot about faith and redemption. His passionate writing never fails to move the faithful. I use to quote from his epistles when I preached to uncomprehending non-believers and I could not understand their lack of enthusiasm for Paul’s grand writing. There is something ironic about Christians quoting Paul about belief and faith and how both are all you need to come to Jesus.
Paul was a proud Pharisaic student of Gamaliel, the famous rabbi who invoking his usual measure of compassion and common sense, saved Peter and the other real apostles and the future of their brand new Jewish heresy from execution and possible total oblivion (Acts 5). Paul no doubt was indoctrinated in the sacred worth of human life, but none the less, despite his association with Gamaliel set off on a bloody campaign against the heretics of Jesus.
Paul became a murderer. He makes a passing Nuremberg defence about his part in the deaths of perhaps hundreds of early followers of Jesus. His guilt must have been a heavy burden, and it might be, that in a state of denial, attempting to smother his guilt, he doubled down and sought out even more heretics to condemn, as proof of his devotion and the righteousness of his actions, to himself as much as to others. Then he went to Damascus. Paul’s conversion wasn’t a result of his belief or faith. It was an physical mind-shattering event, in broad daylight, on the hard road to Damascus. He believed he experienced the presence, and heard the voice of Jesus Christ himself.
I suspect he suffered a severe temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), induced by his intense mental anguish brought on by guilt and fear of divine punishment. The TLE would account for his temporary blindness. The noonday Gallilean sun might also have contributed. Yet he came away from Damascus neatly forgiven and charged with yet another religious obsession to prove his passionate devotion to his god, which was now Jesus, rather than YHWH. This was no ethereal spiritual revelation or blessing. For Paul it was a brutally perceived reality. From the evidence of his own deranged senses he had no choice but to believe, if only for the sake of his own sanity. Its ironic that Christians now quote him in the defence of the lofty merits of blind faith and supposedly logical belief.
All of that is for the choir. I realise now my audience of 40 years ago with no sense of guilt or fear or need of redemptions, would have needed a Damascene event, in reality, of their own, to establish a faith and belief in a god. Just like Paul. Why is it they dont get one and are doomed to eternal punishment? Right, logical. Bravo, encore, you played, the role of judge, jury and executioner, perfectly well |

Both are inventions, and neither were founded by Yahushua Ha Mashsiach aka Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior of the whole wide world. There is a very good reason, why Yahushua Ha Mashsiach aka Jesus Christ, deliberately chose and consciously selected the term "ecclesia" as the epitome of what and how He see everybody called out to congregate. donnie: This is SERAPIS. The followers of this deity were called CHRISTUS.
So you see, the title CHRISTIAN is not a new something. There were Christians before MESSIAH was born. lilianofentse: hi, please can you elaborate on this, and if possible give keywords i can use to search and do my own research. I find topic highly interesting donnie: It's all there... look up Cerapis, Christus etc.
Followers of MESSIAH were called Nazarenes or Messianics (Modern Hebrew: Mashiachiym), and not Christians. " 27Then Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say I am?” 28They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets. 29“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” 30And Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him." - Mark 8:27-30 Dont ask to be led by a clown and blind guide lilianofentse, fyi, notice from Mark 8:27-30 above, that the deity Serapis, never got a mention, in response to who the people thought Jesus is. No one thought Jesus, as being Serapis. Another fact, is that, the worshippers of Serapis and Christ were aware of each other. It is as a result of their differences, that Apostle Mark suffered martydom and died a martyr, at the hands of worshippers of Serapis. " 27King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.” 28Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” 29And Paul said, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”" - Acts 26:27-29Doesnt it sound strange that none of the Apostles, ever called each other christian. Not once did Peter, Paul, James, John, any of the disciples ever saluted, greeted, addressed or called each other Christian. Apostle Paul, as seen in Acts 26:27-28 above, had a golden opportunity or chance, in front of king Agrippa to admit he is a Christian, but he never allowed the epithet word, roll off his tongue to confirm and describe who he has become It is was the world, who gave the early believers, the nickname, Christian. It was the people of Antioch, well known and famous for inventing nicknames who were the force behind profaning the name of Christ, which is Genesis 4:26b revisited. lilianofentse, I cant ever get tired of typing, that, there'd be less christians, if only more christians, properly read their bibles. |

Isrealites counted night and day, not day and night. So a new day begins at night, not necessarily after 12am.
Even if we assume that they were referring to before dawn of Sunday, say 3am. They went there and MESSIAH was already risen. The angel told them, he was already risen. They didn't go and meet him rising.
Accept it... You can never get 3days and 3nights from Friday to Sunday. The Easter celebration is patterned from beginning to the end according to ancient pagan customs and idol worship. From the 40-day lent, which is the exact number of days Semiramis (Ishtar) mourned for her son (Tammuz) who was eaten by pigs to the Friday and Sunday Easter observances. eplanning: No doubt many people have been socially and religiously conditioned to accepting the tradition of “EASTER” without even understanding its origin, background and even where it comes from. Most people (the Christian church especially) would say it has something to do with the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Christ. But it certainly doesn’t have anything to do with it at all. In fact, it has something to do with Satanism and pagan rituals and tradition. Before going further you need to ask yourself “does God want me to practice these traditions? …Does it match up with the scriptures or not?” Well, you are about to find out the answers to those questions. . It is written in the bible that Satan would deceive the whole world (revelation 12:9). Shockingly, the festival of Easter is one of the numerous ways that the devil is using today to carry out his deception on the world. ‘The two Babylon’, by Alexander Hislop (pg.93) “A festival of which we read In church history, under the name Easter, in the third or fourth centuries was quite a different festival from that now observed in the Romish church, and at that time was not known by any such name as Easter. It was called pash or the Passover.”
The original celebration was known as the Passover, and not Easter. The celebration of Easter is a totally different custom and tradition that is not even related to our God at all.
‘The two Babylon’, by Alexander Hislop(pg.96) “Such is the history of Easter. The popular observances that still attend the period of its celebration amply confirm the testimony of history as to its Babylonian character.
Now it may be surprising to you that the Easter celebration was already being practiced 1500 years before Christ in Babylon. This celebration is in fact dedicated to the goddess Easter that is believed to be the queen mother of heaven. The Romans adopted this custom and added it as a part of Christian religion and said it should be celebrated be celebrated the same time of the celebration of the Passover. By doing this, they tactically ruled out the Passover which was actually practiced by the followers of Christ and replaced it with a pagan tradition that is currently practiced throughout the world today. It is important for u to know that the Romans were not Christians, in fact they were unbelievers and pagans. They had their own customs and traditions and were not comfortable with Christians’ customs (acts16:20). They tried to do away with those who were actually Christians, those who preached about Christ. Later on, when they knew they couldn’t succeed, they pretended to join the Christian race and then took over the religion. They added their own customs in a very clever and deceitful way, so that they can still practice and observe their customs and traditions and at the same time making others think they are actually worshipping the Most High YAH. Further enquiries into the bible shows that the word Easter was injected into the Bible to justify the fact that you should celebrate Easter (acts21:3). But it is certain that that translation is not correct, that passage of the bible was talking about Unleavened bread and not the Easter celebration. It is one of the few places in the bible where the translators show an undue bias, It was a deliberate misinterpretation by Bible translators. The Roman Catholic Church as it is seen today as the mother of all churches made deliberate efforts to amalgamate these pagan traditions with Christian practices and tried to find every possible Scriptures to justify these traditions and make all the massed believe they were supposed to be doing it. Now the church says we should celebrate Easter because Christ rose on “Easter Sunday”. But this is absolutely not true. Christ couldn’t have possibly risen on Sunday if he actually died on Friday (Good Friday) because it was said in the Bible that he will be in the heart of the earth for “three days and three nights” (matthew12:40) .
Friday to Sunday morning doesn’t sum up three days and three nights. : Friday night + Saturday =one day, Saturday night + Sunday night = two days, now Sunday night to Monday would be three days. But this is still not correct because the bible says Christ rose on the “Sabbath” (Matthew 28:1). Now let’s see, if he rose on the Sabbath according to the scriptures that means he probably died on a Wednesday Wednesday night + Thursday night = one day Thursday night +Friday night = two days And now Friday to Saturday (which is the Sabbath) is the third day It is very important we find out for ourselves what God actually wants us to do, we shouldn’t just rely on what our pastors or reverend fathers tell us. MuttleyLaff: https://reasonsforhopejesus.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/thurs-3-days-chart.jpg

"It was the day of preparation, and the Jewish leaders didn’t want the bodies hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath, because it was Passover week). So they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down." - John 19:31
It has to be on the authority of John 19:31 above, and no, I dont need to wanna try Good Wednesday because of the fact that the Last Supper occurred on Wednesday, never a Thursday, thus Christ was, in fact, crucified on Thursday, never a Friday.
Thursday day to Thursday night: Jesus was on the cross by 9:00am, died by 3:00pm and off the cross before sundown so 1 day and 1 night The Jewish day starts at sundown or nightfall of the previous evening, and continues throughout the night and following day, until the next night. Friday morning to Friday night day: 1 day and 1 night Saturday morning to Saturday night: 1 day and 1 night (i.e. Jesus rosed before sunrise) Sunday morning: Resurrection morning " And after the Sabbaths, it being dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb." - Matthew 28:1I am yet to come across any Matthew 28:1 Bible translation, that says, Christ rose on the “ Sabbath” |

Which is what A Mighty God Must Do. Further, it is Consistent with All His Mighty Actions, which is that, They Are all, First of a Kind and Last of a Kind, at the Same Time; Never Before Seen, Never After Seen.
Exactly as A Mighty Shall Do! sonmvayina: To impregnate another man's wife... So much for Thou shall not commit adultery.. Tamaratonye5: A person can commit themselves completely to a religion based on nothing but "faith". In fact, this is what you have advocated. I suspect you assume that committing to a faith is beneficial (and I do not deny that it may), but you appeared to ignore the possible negative aspects of such an action. Thus, I pointed out two easy examples on people who committed to their religion purely on "faith", and the result was tragic
Faith leads you down a path, and sometimes it leads into a very dark place. You believe it leads to sunshine, glory, and heaven. It may do the opposite. This is one reason why I reject the action of blind faith, but instead first insist on real evidence to support my position. I equally gave you the instance of A&E, of having a wrong faith. The negative aspect of that action led to death, misery, destruction, suffering, loss, opening up a Pandora box et cetera. Tamaratonye5, a tad point of correction here please, religion and faith might be linked but they aren't intrinsically the same thing. Religion, as a matter of fact and/or on one hand, is a pursuit, obligation, commitment or interest, followed with great devotion and/or regularity while faith, on the other hand, is a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. People commit themselves to football, to shopping, to hockey games, to fashion, to cricket, to helping others in need, to et cetera, to 1001 other religion. James 1:27, tells of the religion that is true, pure and the sort that God finds no flaws in nor fault with Tamaratonye5: Do you not see this problem? You suggest those who commit actions based on blind faith do it on their own ideas, yet you quoted a biblical passage to support your assertion?
You cannot even defend your position without resorting to blind faith and quoting the bible. Tamaratonye5, fyi and with all due respect, blind faith, would be in the same category as adventurism and/or foolhardiness. It is having unwise confidence, it is misplaced trust, it is belief without employing true and full understanding I reiterate Tamaratonye5 to please beware of those whose thought, hope and/or faith are based on their own ideas, feeling(s) and on what they think is right when it is not based on God's word. Case in point, Genesis 3:6 earlier given Tamaratonye5: For your information MuttleyLaff, to me and some others on this forum, the bible carries as much weight as used toilet paper. Not everyone believes in it. One sways arguments not by quoting the bible, but offering cogent and rational arguments. You are free and within your rights to use the bible as wallpaper. It is my reference point, it is the Manufacturer's manual book. All I have in offer to you is nothing less than a clear cut cogent and rational discussion. Misunderstanding the sun and/or not believing in the sun, doesnt preventing the sun from always rising in the east and setting in the west Tamaratonye5: Do you realize you contradicted yourself, in the same sentence? I'm guessing almost certainly not. I haven't contradicted myself. If you hadn't known, well, FAITH, with all the letters written in upper case like that, is whats called " capitalisation" or " capitalised", however, Faith, with the first letter in the word, written in upper case and the rest letters, in lower case, is called "title case" Tamaratonye5: You're just another stereotypical apologist. In that you use the standard intellectual dishonesty of biblical hermeneutics and exegisis to claim the bible doesn’t actually mean what it says.
Ironically, as Bart Erhrman shows in Misquoting Jesus, the bible has been altered and mistranslated so much nobody knows what was written in the original Greek
If they were not so pathetic and dangerous, the claims of the literalists would be hilarious. You aren't telling me something I dont already know. I am on record to on numerous times highlighted that the Bible for political, theology, hidden agenda, ulterior motive, personal gain/interest/advantage, ignorance, doctrinal error et cetera has been wilfully altered and mistranslated Tamaratonye5: Historically, the Bible, especially the Old Testament, has been used to justify the most disgusting behaviour. Ranging from slavery to the murder of 'witches' and homosexuals. The hatred of homosexuals and other non hetero people remains a focus for the hatred of those pig ignorant drongos. Do a search on Religion forum, of each of those terms against MuttleyLaff, to have an epiphany Tamaratonye5: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misquoting_Jesus I am well familiar Dr Bart Erhrman's works and even have a copy of " Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why" in my e-library. I have on more than one occasion had a divergent interpretation to the way he has interpreted some issues. Tamaratonye5: You missed the part where I don't believe the bible is gods word - why should you quote it to me Besides the scripture you picked says comes through what is heard (from Paul, who heard it from others, who heard it from… sounds like trusting gossip to me) I quoted a Biblical definition of what faith is so that you know what my source is. Even if you dont believe in the law of gravity, it doesnt mean, it wouldn't affect you if you should down down a high rise building without some much of a parachute on Tamaratonye5: Exactly which Christian (they tell me different things) or which church in Canada (somehow excluding all the other holy books written by men who heard god). DEC 2019
https://www.indexmundi.com/canada/religions.html I never used Christian, so what are you on about Tamaratonye5: You shouldn't have left out verse 15 which says taught from infancy (indoctrination - no different then Islamic children or Hutterite kids on colony). BUT anyway… the rest reads:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Does the Old Testament get included with all Scripture? If not, then it's not all scripture is it? All scripture is talking about Old Testament Tamaratonye5: I pointed out that your god is transactional, your response was to attack me. Thus, I must assume you have no defense. Why would I want to attack you? If you typed " So your god is transactional? Do you realize that by making such an assertion, you completely destroy the argument that your god is a loving god?" and I merely borrowed you comment by exchanging you in, since you too daily transact in faith, and then ask, if you trying to say you aren't a loving person ni, is that an attack, hmm? Tamaratonye5: Attached picture is for you. Rule #1 If you had believed in the Bible anyway, I would have brought your attention to the ninth commandment of the Ten Commandments (i.e. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour), but since its the the Ten Commandments of Logic, is your preference, then let it be known that you fell foul of the first, second and fourth commandment Tamaratonye5: It certainly must be difficult. I don't disagree with the notion that Christian academics have established for themselves the truth of their faith through solid rational argument but the important point remains that those arguments begin with the assumption that your god exists without objectively supported facts or evidence. Your existence is a starting point, objectively supported fact or evidence that God exists Tamaratonye5: You presume your god's existence through heightened personal experiences and sensations and naturally enough seek to substantiate your heartfelt claims. I suggest you forgo the difficulty of rationalising your god because it is an anecdotal experience, and not an argument to be debated. " So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ." - Romans 10:17" Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him. Acehart: The Anointing Oil and its use.
All references from the King James Version
The anointing oil or oil of anointing, was used during the ordination of the priesthood and the High Priest (Exod. 29:7,21; Num 35:25); it was used to sanctify (to make holy) the anointed person. It was also used for the sanctification of the tabernacle items: the tent of meeting, the ark of testimony and tables; altar of incense, altar of burnt offering and its utensils and the laver and its stand (Exod. 40:9, Lev.8:2). It was also used to anoint the first-fruit burnt offering in the Feast of Shavout (Lev. 23). Centuries later, it was used for the coronation of kings upon which the Spirit of God “came upon” the anointed person for the sole purpose of making such a one fit for the task of being king; and profitable in his time as the King of Israel.
The anointing oil was a mixture of the following composition:
• 500 Shekels (equivalently 5.7kg) of flowing myrrh. • 250 Shekels (equivalently 2.85kg) of fragrant cinnamon. • 150 Shekels (equivalently 1.71kg) of fragrant cane. • 500 Shekels (equivalently 5.7kg) of cassia. • 1 hin (equivalently 6 litres) of olive oil. This weighty mixture was then poured on the head of the anointed person (Lev. 8:12, Exod. 29:7, 1 Sam. 10:1, 1 Sam. 10:1, 1 Sam. 16:13, Psa. 23:5, Psa. 133:2).
It was originally designed exclusively for the Levitical Priesthood; to which several legislations were attached: those legislations were:
• It shall not be replicated • No one outside the Priesthood of Aaron shall be anointed with the oil.
Subsequently, the anointing oil was replicated for the ordination of the Kings of Israel; Does a contradiction lie here? Did Israel flout God’s legislation? Such notion is unfounded; though God warns that the mixture should not be replicated, Deuteronomy 28:39-40 and Psalms 92:10 suggests that the nature of legislation was temporary.
There was no mention of the anointing oil in the scriptures after Solomon’s temple was rebuilt; however, in the discourse of the tabernacle of the greatest degree, where Christ is the High Priest, the anointing oil was mentioned.
The responsibility of the safe-keeping of the anointing oil was committed to the High Priest (Num.4:16), who was the highest among his brethren (Lev.21:10). In the gospels, there is no mention of an ordination ceremony where the anointing oil was poured on the heads of the Apostles, the “Priests” of Christ. However, there is the mention of the anointing oil in James 5:14:
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
But James 5:14 ends with the colon punctuation mark. The colon or colon punctuation mark is used to separate two independent clauses; where the second explains or illustrates the first.
According to the definition of this mark, James 5:15a explains the clause: “Let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”. James 5:15a says: “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick”. Therefore, the anointing oil in this text is the prayer of faith, the prayer of the elders - this is corroborated by the comma preceding the clause. Apostle James wasn’t referring to a literal oil.
The present practice of the use of an “anointing” oil in churches around the world is an aberration and unscriptural; it is idolatrous. Many may have ascribed to its efficacy but it it is not an efficacy from the Lord God; that Moses struck the rock (a second time) and water gushed out of it miraculously, didn’t mean that God authorized it.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Acehart
Cc: Goshen360, Muttleylaff, Jamesid29 psucc: The article is self explanatory.
The problem we have now is that the wolves has infiltrated the flock. They device every means to paint their actions in good light and even the true believers are lured away. Today you see people believe more on the annointing oil, annointed handkerchief, bracelets, etc than the name Jesus.
May God help us to put our trust in Him alone in Jesus name amen. Yeah, this mindset is very wrong and leaves a bad taste in the mouth Acehart: It is very worrisome: the trends we see in the Church, where we see the mixture of pagan philosophy with Christianity. In third world countries, it’s like one of the tools used by Satan to attack the gospel is the destruction of the educational system; as this scheme by Satan achieve its goal, there is a proliferation of false teachers and preachers.
Our only comfort is that Christ would meet His church without wrinkles and blemish. If not, we would think that the Church is in Satan’s hands forever. The decay is worrisome. " 12So they set out and preached that the people should repent. 13They also drove out many demons and healed many of the sick, anointing them with oil." - Mark 6:12-13Anointing, biblically is done to symbolise being set apart for God's work and be made ready for God's work, God's use or transfer of God's power. The 12 disciples in Mark 6:13 above, drove out many demons, healed many people and anointed them with olive oil. They however didnt make a merchandise of anointing with olive oil Apostle James was one of them twelve that first hand used olive oil to anoint the sick, so it is understandable, he is recommending in James 5:14a to pray to the sick and to augment with some element of olive oil anointing |

Tamaratonye5: Unfortunately, good sir, you have just opened up a huge can of worms, easily dispelled. The first can of worms had a warning label on it before A&E opened it Tamaratonye5: I could easily offer dozens of examples, but I will submit two, each quite different in the people involved, but each with tragic outcomes.
Carsyn Leigh Davis
Here is a small excerpt from https://www.adn.com/nation-world/2020/07/07/a-high-risk-florida-teen-who-died-from-covid-19-attended-a-huge-church-party-then-was-given-hydroxychloroquine-by-her-parents-report-says/
A medical examiner’s report recently made public, however, is now raising questions about Carsyn’s case. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner found that the immunocompromised teen went to a large church party with roughly 100 other children where she did not wear a mask and social distancing was not enforced. Then, after getting sick, nearly a week passed before she was taken to the hospital, and during that time her parents gave her hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug touted by President Donald Trump that the Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings about, saying usage could cause potentially deadly heart rhythm problems.
Second example.
Nineteen young men, who had the potential to live full lives and be moral, were swayed by their religion into committing one of the most evil and horrific acts in modern history. They were the terrorists who martyred themselves in 911. " The woman saw how beautiful the tree was and how good its fruit would be to eat, and she thought (i.e. hoped or had faith) how wonderful it would be to become wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also ate it." - Genesis 3:6Tamaratonye5, please beware of those who thought, hope and/or faith are based on their own ideas, feeling(s) and what they think is right and not on God's word. Case in point, Genesis 3:6 above Tamaratonye5: Why do you keep capitalizing the word faith? Daejoyoung didnt capitalise the word, what he did was title case, meaning that the first letter of the word faith is/was capitalized. This he does to to make a distinction as being biblical faith in comparison to whatever else faith there is Tamaratonye5: Confidence is measured - meaning:
- the state of feeling certain about the truth of something. e.g. "it is not possible to say with confidence how much of the increase in sea levels is due to melting glaciers"
- a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities. "she's brimming with confidence"
Actually, "confidence" can be used against you if there is no evidence of truth - i.e a confidence man or "con man". Normally they play off of people's fear, greed or ignorance. Things they say will make sense, and sometimes, depending on the "game" you'll get a little back at first to lure you in deeper.
Your "faith" is not on solid ground. It is God's Word (no evidence of god or that "it's" communicating with anyone) written by men - you have to take their (the men) word for it. That's shaky and invisible ground - the Koran, Book of Mormon, etc (cult leaders) all get special knowledge from god to pass to men - "confidence game".
You have reason for believing in yourself. Self help gurus and motivational speakers and fictional books and non fiction books and songs and art, movies - the list goes on where a person can get inspiration or self help messages. " So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ." - Romans 10:17If what is proposed, presented, offered, brandished et cetera to you, has no bearing to what you've heard come through by the word of Christ, then pronto reject, jettison, decline, the trojan gift, refuse the " sounds too good to be true attractive looking proposition" et cetera It is God's word written by men under the inspiration of God (i.e. 2 Timothy 3:16-17) Tamaratonye5: So your god is transactional?
Do you realize that by making such an assertion, you completely destroy the argument that your god is a loving god? " Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him. " - Hebrews 11:6Since you too daily transact in faith, are you trying to say you aren't a loving person ni, hmm? If you like, use god, instead of God, till the cows came home, it doesnt change the fact, what God is nor does it change the truth, who God is. It is like, as if shutting out the sun or blacken up the windows for a time, means the sun has gone away or doesnt exist |

They are the serpents the devil is using against man to make us deny, doubt and disobey God's Word as you described in the OP. Use your spiritual weapons to silence them as Jesus did to the devil. Kobojunkie: Actually an atheist cannot blaspheme since they do not believe. When Jesus Christ spoke of blaspheme, He did so in rebuke of the "believers" of the time, the Pharisees/Sadducees/Rabbis/Teachers of the Laws.... those are the ones who are able to blaspheme. " Ignorance of the law excuses not" and/or " ignorance of law excuses no one" An atheist ignorance of the existence of God or not have a believe in God, is no defense. Blaspheming, is any act that brings disrepute and disrespect to what God stands for and/or is about. Kobojunkie: Remember Herod? He was anointed, hence in the class of "believers" in the land as well. And we all remember what happened to Him in the book of Acts when He blasphemed. Ananias and Saphira were Christians who blasphemed... only in their case, at least one of them was born again. The Herod family were exile returnees, appointed King of the Jews by the Roman Senate, at the suggestion of Antony and with the consent of Octavian but never and not anointed by God Neither of the Herods were believers. Herod the Great (i.e. Herodes Magnus), who tried to kill the infant Jesus, or his sons, Achaelus and Herod Antipater, or King Agrippa I, the grandson of Herod the Great, who handed Jesus Christ over to Pontius Pilate (i.e. Acts 3:13 & 4:27) and even King Agrippa II, the great-grandson of Herod the Great, whom Apostle Paul preached the Gospel to, were anything except be believers. |

First you must submit, then you will have faith? --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually, that's action and a history of your own ability… say you have a history of getting Bs to A and you have an interest in your subject material. You study, listen take notes - pass tests. Your "faith" is confidence in yourself to accomplish your goal.
Some people have an irrational view of themselves and this might lead to “faith” in their abilities - even though there is no evidence for it - like some of these folks MuttleyLaff: "23Jesus replied, “Why do you say ‘if you can’? Anything is possible for someone who has faith!” 24At once the boy's father shouted, “I do have faith! Please help me to have even more.”" - Mark 9:23-24
If I honestly go in front of my microwave and patiently wait for the Nairaland web page to load up on it. Will my faith be justified? Will I have results/answers of a Nairaland web page appear before me anywhere on the microwave?
There is little faith, there is pseudo/false faith, there is weak faith, there is ignored faith, there is having no faith, there is room for more faith, there is et cetera faith Sometimes, it is good to be honest about the sort of faith one has and be humble about it too |
