LordReed:Interesting discourse. On the dichotomy between Matter and Mind, evidence being that patients on life support have practically lost the functionality of their mind, only their body seems to be held functioning on oxygen. Hence this can be a reason to submit that the mind and matter are separate entities. On the other hand, it there has been no evidence to actually separate the mind from the body, hence the argument of the oneness of the body and the mind seems quite plausible. To even further convolute this argument, religion has introduced a 3rd party which is the spirit. But let's not derail this thread. |
Righteousness2:I cry for you. Only poverty makes you think like this. Even Oyedepo, Adeboye and Kumuyi know better now. If ever it's in your destiny to become rich, you will remember these days of your foolish blindness. Hope you've seen the video of Mummy G.O flexing in Dubai? |
xproducer:This is how people fail exams. Simple question, you quoted verses without answering the question. Yes, prophets prophesied but the question is how did writing the bible come about especially the private conversations. |
LordReed:Our very own NL Mummy G.O. ![]() I'm sure he has a celebrity crush on her. Lets hope he's not even masturbating to her videos right now. Loool |
elated177:I see what you did there. It's good semantics to confuse the undiscerning and untaught. But then enters moi. ![]() Cos you know you commit sin daily. But living in sin is supposed to be different from committing sin right? You try. Good excuse as long as you ask for forgiveness, clean slate every morning. Riddle me this; If you and fellow righteousness preachers on NL were truly practicing righteousness for even a month, why has there been no beneficiary of your generosity both financially, materially or in kind? Why is true righteousness hard to find even among Christian's in Nigeria? Why is it with all the Christian's in Nigeria, it's still among world's most corrupt government and citizenry? Why are Enterpreneurs rejecting those "born-again" applicants like Righteousness and Jesusjnr who profess righteousness publicly but their hearts and souls are so wicked cos they often commit the worst frauds eventually. Bro, just have peace worshipping your God and stop professing false righteousness and speaking fake Christianese here. |
LordReed:Ouch. That's so below the belt. ![]() The foolishness is magnified when you realise he actually believed it would happen. I gave up on thiat one a long time ago. The force and grip of religion is heavy on that one. Yet he's supposed to be in liberty and not bondage in Christ. |
LordReed:You get my train of thought completely. Yet these words are held verbatim as God's words and inspirations. |
hupernikao:My mighty man in scripture. I greet you too bro. I took my time to digest your writ which I must say you nearly had me convinced. True, these events and their oral tales existed with the Israelites way before Moses. He simply as you posited helped document, expound and interprete them from a place of random events to polarity, pointing the israelites to Gods will and plan for them. Great submission. But this still doesn't answer my more cogent question concerning the private conversations and supposed quotations between God and the characters (Fathers of faith if you will). Do you know that even Moses' last the conversation with God on the mountain that he should die was recorded, I wish we could explain who was there to hear such private last moment conversation. Bear in mind that Moses' body was never found by the Israelites. I stated earlier some other instance such as the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman by the well. Don't forget that the scripture clearly stated that Jesus never mentioned this conversation with any of his disciples, neither did they ask him. Some many such events should make you ask questions, don't you think? |
o42austino:Why wont it still be available when you're selling Pilot for over 2m. |
MaxInDHouse:If theres anything I want you to make your new year resolution, pls avoid my threads and do not quote me for any reason. I already know what you have to say because you are and will always be predictable. So just avoid me, otherwise I will be forced to make a case against you and Seun and his mods will have to create the block button because of pests like you. I wish you well in your endeavours but pls just resist the urge to comment on any of my posts and threads. Thanks in advance. |
Naija147:Next excuse you will hear is that it was because they prayed against it. |
Beejayy20:You'll understand later when their ego gets the best of them. |
efficiencie:I wish I could believe such gifts are still in existence cos I'm yet to come in contact with anyone with it. |
nakaman:The igbos are a blessing to Nigeria. However, unfortunately they are their own problem. An igbos see themselves as better than other tribes. And also rub it on them. No one would support you if you make them feel inferior. Super Eagles team is majorly made up of Igbos, just like our Basketball team. Their talent cannot be denied but they should also not make others feel inferior to them. I hope we win this cup. And their ego doesnt get the best of them. |
NaijaMutant:I'm no expert but the Supreme court did not judge the case earlier, it simply dismissed it. But knowing the country we are, we can understand that money and power have made the judge dance to the tune of the piper. That said,I believe in any reasonable country, Innoson would have won the case. Or this case would have been settled out of court with Innoson agreeing on a reasonable amount of pay-off. But the igbos being as greedy as their culture is, he wanted to own GTB just because of the error that happened. GTB clearly erred. But any reasonable person would agree to settle out of court. No company would want to lose it's existence and investment simply because of the error of a staff. But Innoson was hellbent on owning the bank for their simple error. Greed definitely consumes. While I know and agree that GTB is at fault. I dont know how much they had to to bribe to settle this case, but I believe Innoson erred by seeing it as an opportunity to own the bank instead of settling out of court. Now he has lost at the apex court because; 1. He is igbo, and supreme court is under the auspices of the Hausas 2. He has failed to realise that Hausas and Yoruba due to political benefits are more United than Yoruba and Igbo. 3. Innoson is greedy. |
MaxInDHouse:When a righteous person commits a sin, does that make them a sinner? Or when a sinner does an act of righteousness, does that make them a righteous person? Don't be quick to judge what you know nothing about. Don't be quick to make stereotypes of people. That a babe has had sex with more than one guy, does that make her a prostitute? That a guy has broken a heart before, does that make him a player? My point being, that I choose to question Christian doctrines doesnt make me an atheist bro. And I've mentioned this over and over again but the thickness of your skull is like the great wall of China. If I was an atheist, I won't hide it. Cos this is a faceless forum. You do not know me and I do not know you. While I do not owe you any expanation cos you're worth less than a kobo to me, but the fact remains that; I pray to God. I go to church. I seldom pray through Jesus Christ. (cos i know God answers prayers not only through Jesus). These are few reasons why I'm not an atheist. If you say I'm not a Christian anymore, that is an argument I might still consider. But an atheist, I'm not. Even though I do not see anything wrong in being an atheist. I was once one. But some how I rededicated my life to Christ and what I found after complete brokenness and service for some years was more religion. So if your minuscule and fetal brain still cant comprehend that then your ignorance, religiosity and judgmentality have simply gotten the best of you. Cos that's a legion that even fasting and prayer can't deliver you from. This by the way is the last time I'll respond to this. |
MaxInDHouse:It must be eating you up that you haven't been able to figure out my former moniker. ![]() Anyway, pray tell what have you read in my mind uncle Max? |
MaxInDHouse:As predictable and uncreative as always. Your next statement will be how only JW is the only family on earth who have the answers right? Even your brain is tired of your lack of creativity |
killyaselfie:You've shared your perspective, and others will share theirs. I dont have to accept yours hook, line and sinker, except you want to be a knowledge extremist.lol At the end of the day, knowledge is not one sided. And trust me, I probably know more than you on this topic but would like to hear the perspective of others. |
efficiencie:This is probably the explanation. But makes you wonder why we don't have such anymore. Such gifts seem like fiction in this generation. |
sonmvayina:That's another perspective. I have read from various sources that the Torah was written by Moses. And the Synoptic gospels written by their disciples they were named after eg Matthew wrote the book of Matthew, Mark wrote the book of Mark, etc. My question is in these books, how were they aware of the private conversations they wrote about. |
killyaselfie:I guess you don't understand my question. Even if the high priests and philosophers wrote the bible, how were they aware of these private conversations? Such as the conversation between Adam and God, Eve and the serpent, Abraham and Isaac on his way to sacrifice his son, Moses and God in the burning Bush, Jacob and God on his way to Panam where he dreamt of the ladder, and on his way to meet Esau when he wrestled with an angel, etc. Elijah and God when he was running away from Jezebel, Elisha and Gihaz, etc. These conversations were private with no one else around such as between Jesus and the Samaritan woman by the well, between Jesus and God at Gethsemane, between Jesus and the daughter of the centurion, between Jesus and Pilate when none of his disciples were around. |
November24:Thank God you're of this generation. Just that your own craze na follow come. If you have no intelligent contribution biko just keep it moving. Ode. |
One of the major challenges Istill can't seem to understand is how the bible came about. If you read through Genesis to Deuteronomy, you'll realise that some of the events were private and no one else was there, and certainly not even a writer. This books were supposedly written by Moses who was born millennia after. Moses, the supposed writer even in Deuteronomy 34 wrote about his own death. How also did he know what conversations took place between God and Adam, Between Eve and the serpeant? Between Jacob and the Angel when he wrestled with God, Abraham and Isaac, Isaac and his sons, Jacob and his sons, Etc In the new testament, how did the writers of the Synoptic gospels (Matthew to John) get the conversations Jesus had alone in their absence? Such as the conversation between him and the Samaritan woman by the well, Jesus and God at Gethsemane, etc. How did the writer even have the conversations he had with them when none of them was a writer and most of them were illiterates? |
Faller:I struggled a lot with this before but I've realised as much as God is interested in that soul, that soul might not be interested in God. Hence I might end up being a victim of they're wicked souls. So while i pray for their salvation, i also pray that if they do not cease to be a problem to me, then God should destroy them. No time. |
Righteousness2:What you just did here is what an extremist of Islam or Christianity or Judaism or any other religion is expected to do. You do not have any word of knowledge or prophecy for him like the disciples of old did to make the gospel a reality. You simply want him to accept without asking questions or having validation of what you want him to believe. God, Moses, Jesus, the Disciples do not want blind followers. They expect you to have a conviction in your heart that you're serving the one true God. And how can you have such conviction? By experiencing his power and presence. All religions expect you simply to place your faith in them. Only Christianity gives you the manifestation of God's power. Until you get to that point where God can manifest his presence and power through you, you should know that you're just being religious like an extremist of any religion. The only difference between you and Jihadists and Boko Haram or the Crusaders is simply the fact that you have not resorted to killing for God. |

It's ok to acknowledge that the bible has it flaws. Do not deny the obvious. Instead find the reason and explanation as to why. But denying that there are contradictions and errors makes you look religious. |
isaiah4life:While I get your point, I like the fact that you did not generalise. Cos not all the people who do not carry the analog bible are ashamed of the bible. And yes there are some who cannot carry the analog bible because they are ashamed of it. But it's no reason to judge them. God deals with us differently. When they get to that point where the evangelistic ministry is on them, they fit even carry loudspeaker. My point being, it's not compulsory to carry the analog bible. And not all who don't are ashamed of the gospel. Some who are more evangelistic do not carry the bible simply because there are better ways to promote the gospel. It's not by carrying bible. |
Omooba77:Why is this important? You mean I'll attend sunday service, attend midweek service and still attend house fellowship? Well for me,it's been a while. But I think it has it's benefits because it helps you grow together with those close to your neighbourhood and also you get to ask questions you normally can't ask your pastor cos questions are not allowed during normal church services in most churches. But like I alwqys tell people, the best way to grow is through Foundation class. This is already fine tuned to feed you and get you well grounded on the necessities of your new life. And avails you opportunity to ask questions, in most churches. That said, if you can, house fellowships have their advantages. It may help link you up with a job or even your wife/husband. |
ikorodureporta:Yes i do. But not every time. |
isaiah4life:But why should you accuse anybody, are you more righteous than those who dont? Development is everything in life, the bible was originally written in scrolls before it developed into the books we know and now we have apps and e-bibles. Unless you're a worker in your church, I see no pressure in carrying the hardcover or analog bible to church. You'll find out you might not even have to open your bible these days in church cos even everything is displayed on projections these days in most churches. So before you judge others, you should judge yourself. To prove you're not ashamed of the gospel, you should actually be carrying the bible scrolls not the book. |
