lorhema:This is the first time I’m reading your comment. It’s nice e-meeting you! |
n3xt:I dropped this vibe few years back. It’s still valid!] Let me drop this one before I go on another Nairaland break 😂😂 A typical Naija man LIVE for LIKES while SEARCHING for LOVE. They look for internet validations while hunting for $$$ They organize pity parties while searching for meaning. They do norms and expect a different result. Me: I always go to the last mile because it’s rarely crowded. ========= Hot coffee, uninterrupted power supply and Nairaland go well! 😂 Thanks Seun and other well meaning Nairalanders. You matter!
|
^^^ Na national grid collapse. I still have electricity in my crib though interrupted briefly for less than one minute last night but the thing still dey 😂😂😂 That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I’m just about to prepare my hot coffee before kicking off my day. I don’t want to bore myself with the national grid collapse or the distribution company’s cluelessness story. I just wanna plug and play. We don work. Now is the time to rest and enjoy life and not to keep wishing life is better.

true2home:You’re 100% correct about Magodo! I was in AEA for a project for about 4 months this year. When I set my mind to achieve a thing, nothing stops me. If na Magodo sef, I go manage am. I know good stuffs won’t be cheap 😂😂😂 I just want to live in a place I can relax and retire well. Dangote o lori meji |
Request I need a simple 3 bed neoclassical bungalow design for a retired couple. Something similar to the building below will work. Thanks 🙏
|
jabolo:Ok 🙏 |
jabolo:I see. If the tank is the battery, what will be the battery when the same setup is used for irrigation? I know that Irrigation doesn’t need a tank |
The DC pump

NextHome Project | Jan 24, 2016 Setting up a solar water pump system that uses no battery brabus:
|
FEGEITOK:I understand all these things very well. From solar panels to tankless water heaters, automatic sprinklers systems, water conservation systems to purchase of energy star certified appliances and integration of smarthome techs, we’ve been on many these as far back as more than a decade on this forum. I am just tired and want out. All my systems (automatic gate, Phillips hue bulbs etc) as far back as 2013 are still working till date but I just want to declutter and live much more simple life Systems ti fé pò jù. Kò dè necessary 😂😂😂 |
nwaorlu:Sure, why not? You can have a solar system without batteries. That’s what they do in solar irrigation system and it works well. In 2016, while setting up NextHome Bricks+Stone, I went completely off grid. I had a DC pump by shurflo and 2 solar panel system. I still have the pump till date. ========= NB: I’m not a solar expert though. I don’t sell solar system and I do not intend to become one. I’m just an hobbyist who love to explore life. |
acorntree:For someone like me, I don’t apply cosmetic fix to structural issues. You’ll get burn out in the long run! Our problem in Nigeria is systemic but we keep flipping people and throwing monies on cheap solutions. You don’t stop recklessness and incompetence by simply changing people, you build systems that prevents it using technology. Talking about power issues, Nigerians only believe that government should provide adequate power supply but we don’t have the balls to hold them responsible. Instead, we simply jump on half baked solutions and accept them as a way of life and an acceptable standard of living. The picture below shows the former Vice President of Nigeria carrying a powerbank. That’s a typical mentality! Quick fix 😂 I’ve not had a need for powerbank in a long time because I’m staying in a place where electricity is 100% stable. And I never had to check if the battery is charging, low, optimized or underperforming. I just plug and play. #insidelagos Nigerians are fond of looking for cheap alternatives, shortcuts and wuruwuru solution to communal issues. This explains why we haven’t been able to address our electricity issue. We buy solar systems, portable generators, candles, rechargeable lantern, rechargeable touch lights and all sorts to keep life going while shying away from our major problem. In fact, some invest on silent cabin diesel generators are seen as sign of good living 😂😂 So to a typical naija man, my position is wrapped around flimsy excuses because I chose not to follow the crowd. Well, that’s why I’m me!

Shot well taken. It’s a while I do this but here’s the thing: The future started yesterday and we are already late. You might need to read this https://hbr.org/2021/06/the-dark-side-of-solar-power to get some gist about the solution you have with you. In the 2000s, iPhone 3G was a terrific smartphone but you won’t buy it for $20 today. Personally, I won’t use an economy (US and China for instance) that depends on government subsidies (now over $15bn) and tax credits to help renewable energy sector compete fairly in the market to determine viability of a project/solution. Neither will I buy because everyone is buying. I’m future thinking guy and I don’t see myself investing in a solution because some American migrant hyped it. No pun intended. I’ll only buy a solution that: 1. the installation cost is relatively cheap and affordable for all according to the UN Sustainable Development Goal. 2. is highly reliable and won’t require a backup source of energy for those days that just aren’t that sunny. 3. won’t eat significant amount of space in my house just to house equipments. I won’t buy an unattractive solution because of market hype regardless of where it’s coming from. There’s a good reason why smart investors shun solar stocks. It’s because they’ve seen beyond the hype. I just want to buy a property in a location where I can get 247 electricity without worries. That’s just me! |
I’m currently in an estate where electricity hasn’t gone off for 3 hours in the last 4 months in this same Nigeria. The people living inside that estate aren’t better than me. I’m not interested in knowing how it works or bore myself with different terminologies. I just want to pay for comfort living |
sonnie10:A plot of land cost about N150m in one of the estates I have in mind and a standard 4 bed duplex is around N220 million+ My kids have grown up so I no longer need to babysit them. My countryhome is intact with Generator, Solar, Inverter and all sorts but it does not afford me the kind of lifestyle I want right now. I want to sip my hot coffee under chilling AC in the morning and take my cold Pepsi cola while working on my laptop in the afternoon without doing mental sum on reducing load or doing permutations on when to do what 😂😂😂 What I need right now is a place to cool my head and that place doesn’t have to be built by me. If God permits, I can also build apartments for letting in those estates. You’ll agree with me that many of the people living abroad didn’t buy their choice house the first day they got to their destination. They started in small cribs like I posited above. Anyway, this is just what I feel I need right now and it shouldn’t be accepted as standard of living for anyone else. Anyday, anytime a good location is a winner for me! |
sonnie10:About N7m with installation and this was shared between 150 houses. The solution was to find a permanent fix to low current as at that time. Right now, I’ve pen down some estates where I can get guaranteed 24/7 electricity in Lagos to get an apartment. With N30 - N35m, I can get a nice 1-bed in any of those estates and I’d never have to worry about doing calculus or using a particular type of bulb or fittings. I want to live in an environment where I won’t need to start doing Algebra because I want to sip hot coffee or take an ice cream. I just want to press the on button on my kettle without having to ask Musa if he has switch over to NEPA 😂😂😂 This is just me! We’ve built house like everyone else so no one to impress. Now is the time to enjoy life and to stop living like a micromanager 😂😂 ======== Good morning boss @somehow I no see you before o! @kingdemu , special regards to you baba! My condition get as e be!

Still on half baked solutions we keep applying that have continually produced a malnourished economy Case Study: Servo Stabilizer I remember when Servo Stabilizer was introduced to this platform and how many of us battling low current issue rushed it. Though, it worked for me as I was able to step up my 80 - 90V current to 240V. It was still a temporary fix. I still didn’t feel confident sending my kids out late evening because it’s always dark everywhere else apart from my house and those running generator. 6 months after I purchased the system, I approached my small community that we need to stop applying cosmetic fix to structural issues affecting all of us and proposed that we should buy a brand new 500KVa transformer to solve our low current issue. Guess what? Each homeowner paid less than N50,000 and we got the problem solved within a month. Now everyone have 240V and we are all happy. I paid over a 100k for my servo stabilizer. The worse part was that I pawned it for 15k about a year later😂😂😂 =========== Until we come together to start addressing our shared social issues and stop seeing Lagos as being better than Enugu because Lagos have more money, Nigeria won’t grow. Good morning! I remain Brabus/n3xt

wineconnoisseur:Don’t do it! I know quite a number of people here who took that route that are living in regrets. Like michilins shared “Increase your networth first and buy a choice property in a very good location.” Don’t downgrade your destiny to match your reality! |
Even governments are back to powering streetlights and agencies with generator and gas. You’ll see states investing in small hydro power turbines to power their secretariats. The unpleasant reality that marketers won’t tell you is that renewable energy is not a replacement for fossil fuel energy because their source like sunlight and wind are intermittent and depend on weather conditions, which your N50m investment can’t alter. So it’s really not about throwing money after the problem. It’s just common sense! I’ve seen people turn UPS which is meant to serve as backup power supply to their main source of power 😂😂😂 They’re called Nigerians |
Abudu2000:You don’t teach a grown up how to spend his money. When the shalaye is too much, I back out. I only need uninterrupted power supply. I don’t need a tutorial on hibernation of the gold fish or the divisibility of atom. I’ll rather buy a flat in a location where I can get 24/7 light than to invest 50m in a solution that can only power my house and not even my street. Olowo kan laarin otosi mewa is babanla poor man. People spend the money they don’t have to impress the people who don’t even care about them. |
Good morning Nairaland! |
sonnie10:My kids and I had a chat on Tesla powerwall yesterday. They told me “Dad! Take guesswork out of your decision making process. Buy yourself peace of mind by owning a property in an area where there’s uninterrupted power supply.” They said this when they visit me in one of my project site where there’s five nines guaranteed electricity uptime. Every marketer will do anything to sell you their solution but right now I’d rather pay to have 99.999% electricity than to keep carrying out experimentation. My kids are saying “Dad! Say Goodbye to Guesswork and Say Hello to Certainty!” ============ I know someone here that invested heavily on alternative energy. To my utmost dismay, he could barely get up to 3 hours from the millions of Naira investment. I know someone will say he bought fake solution. That’s why I’m going with my kids advice 😂😂😂 Buy certainty! |
CDG1:If you get anyone to deliver at N4500 per bag, please don’t hesitate to share his/her contact. T for thanks |
Horlardorjah:Nice one bro👍 |
segcymoor:Moore of Lekki 💯 |
Ruthcollins1992:Is this still available? I need 50 pcd |
redgem:Dear Sister, Pls kindly avoid getting yourself entangled in avoidable conflict. Focus your energy on creating a lovely house for yourself. No one is missing anyone here. That’s fine! Let’s leave it at that! You’re doing great on your project and I’m glad to see how far you’ve gone. May God give you all the resource to finish to your taste and good health to rock the house ![]() |

redgem:I honestly can’t even remember we had an interaction. Thank you for your kind words. You matter! Your message is well received and noted for action. Meanwhile, I really love that ceiling design you shared earlier this morning. Nice design complemented by subtle cove lights I don quickly save am for my inspiration album.

AngelicBeing:Thanks for sharing with me. I’m actually not here to trade. There are some request that I cannot just overlook especially from those who wouldn’t mind reaching out to me privately. I’m happy to give back without asking for anything I return. That shouldn’t pose any threat! So long people won’t stop asking, I won’t stop sharing knowledge. The karma thing you mentioned sir is a double edged sword - good and bad. I’ve always prayed that we are all rewarded according to our deed. So, I welcome Mr. Karma wholeheartedly. To those who are aggrieved on one way or the other, I’m sorry and I’m happy you’re all doing great without issues or challenges in your projects. That’s all that matters! Best always!
