The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed the death of a corps member at the orientation camp in Ede, Osun State.

The corps member identified simply as Bright, died in his sleep a few days ago.

The Public Relations Officer of NYSC in Osun State, Funmi Okundaye, confirmed the incident to the Punch but refrained from giving further details about the circumstances surrounding his death.

"What you read is that a corps member passed on in his sleep? That was exactly what happened; there is no other thing to add. Nothing to add or remove from it,” Okundaye said.

The 2023 batch ‘B’ stream 1 orientation course commenced on July 12 across the country and is scheduled to end on August 1.

Money management should also be looked at. Managing yourself is stress enough let alone managing money and at that managing money that doesn’t belong to you. The pressure can be overwhelming. While I feel for him and his family, I do hope people take a lesson from this unfortunate and sad incident

A Young Man Identified as Saifullahi has committed suicide over his inability to pay the N250,000 debts he owed to several people.

The Incident that occurred in Shata village in Bosso local government has left the community in a state of shock and disbelief.

Saifullahi’s body was found hanging from a rope in his bedroom by his neighbors on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to newsmen, his girlfriend identified as Rebecca claimed that she saw the deceased alive when he visited her saying that he was very disturbed.

According to her, the deceased told her that he has accumulated a debt of N250,000 and did not know how he would pay his debts as the debtors have begun asking for their monies.

“The debts were causing him a lot of concerns and he was in great distress. I tried to assure him that the situation of things would improve, I did not know he would kill himself,” she said.

Residents said the deceased didn’t not leave a suicide note.

Abdullahi Ndanusa, a resident in the community, said that Saifullahi was a young man full of potentials as he has been one of the youth influencers in the community.

After discovery, the deceased was cut down from the rope and buried.

The decomposing body of an unidentified woman has been found in the Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the dumped body was also without the head as of the time it was found.

An eyewitness, Kinsley Alozie, told our correspondent on Monday that the headless body was sighted around Ohiya Mechanic Village inward Abia Towers on Sunday by engineers who had gone to lay cable in the gutter they dug days earlier.

According to Alozie, who spoke to the engineer that was in charge of laying the cables, the engineers had said the stench that oozed from the decomposing body caused the workers to abandon the project pending when the relevant authorities would remove the body.

Alozie shared the audio of a conversation he had with the unnamed engineer with our correspondent.

The engineer said, “My boys found another corpse yesterday. I was even in the church when they called me

“The corpse is smelling. They were supposed to work there when they called and told me that they cannot work because they saw another dead body.

“They saw it a few meters away from the place we saw the last body. The location is just after Mechanic Village coming towards Abia Towers. This one happened that they cut off her head.”

Explaining further, he narrated that the men had dug the gutter for the cables some days earlier but when they returned later to lay the pipes, they could no longer work because of the stench

“They didn’t remove the first one and then there’s this second one. It is not close to the road, just after the gutter. Like two meters after the gutter,” he said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, promised to look into the situation as it was not reported.

Biggie had instructed the housemates to nominate one housemate for eviction on Sunday.

The nomination process took place shortly after Adekunle emerged the first Head of House of season 8.

He was also given exclusive access to the Head of House floor and a chance to select four friends who will have access to the HOH lounge, kitchen and gym.
