nefertitiram: Dr sofadj please, I use God to beg you, please reconsider your stance. If you go through my profile, you will understand y I am begging u.
I was rushed to R-Jolad in Lagos at 4am on a Sunday morning, with the exact case the woman that died had. Placenta abruption, I nearly bled to death. I had 4 pints transfused.
I was leaving for US to deliver my baby, I had bought ticket, made some expenses such that hubby and I had no more cash at that instance. We didn't have N20k with us at dat time of the morning
They decided to operate immediately, hubby asked how much, d doc told us my life was most important, dey couldn't even wait to screen all d 4 pints of blood. He should sign, save my life before we discuss money.
That was how I survived the ordeal. The babies died but I survived. I was admitted for 10 days b4 they brought any bill. We sold off our dollars to foot d bill of almost 300k.
If RJOLAD did not admit me that day, without a dime, where would I have been? There's no day I don't pray for RJOLAD.
My point is don't cut off the nose to spite the face. God will reward you and replenish your pockets. God bless you! You settled your bill, you are however a rarity, most abscond without paying hence the hardened attitude doctors have developed |

What if u were not a doc n ur wife or mother fall into similar situation n u are not dere 2 hlp financially @ dat moment ?? I don't understand your point, please clarify.. If my relative was admitted to hospital for emergency treatment and i signed an undertaking to pay the bill after being fully informed of the cost, I will pay. Simple If however I do not have the money being demanded, I will tell them what I can pay, pay it immediately as a sign of good faith and leave the rest to the discretion of the management and God to decide. A lot of Nigerians are simply callous and fraudulent people, they never want to pay whether it is for health, food, education or so Many of the people here who think the doctor did wrong, are probably chronic debtors themselves so they see no wrong in their behaviour but God will judge them. |

The owner of the copyright watermarked the book to prevent illegal photocopying. It's a common practice with on-line books, you can read or remove the watermark when you buy a 'legitimate' copy. I said legitimate not fake, please look up the word legitimate in the dictionary you will see the Nigerian version of your dictionary has the word greyed out.
To see how desperate some people are they ignored the watermark and went ahead and made copies. Ask the local publishers were they got the original manuscript files they used to publish the book from.
And of course Nigerians as usual think it's to do with the occult or perhaps the white man trying to indoctrinate their kids and sew the seeds of hatred. They don't need to do that, they are happy with the work done by our fellow Nigerians especially the politicians. |

They did they best job they could with what they were given considering the circumstances and notwithstanding the pressure on them from the government and other individuals with a vested interest in the outcome.

Look at this from another angle, the problem is wherever the money went it will never benefit the Nigerian economy, underneath beds, inside cupboards, wives and girlfriends shopping bills, houses in Dubai and SA, maybe Nigeria if they are bold, foreign banks and sitting in false named bank accounts lying fallow.
Majority of Nigerian politicians are dullards who would never have been able to rub 2 N50 notes together in their pocket if it weren't for politics.
No wonder the Naira fell so heavily before the elections.
Imagine what the country would have been like if all that money was invested wisely.

Politics › Re: ‘Missing’ $20billion Oil Money: Our Audit Report Not Reliable — Pricewaterhousec by naijafresh: 9:01pm On Apr 29, 2015 |
We need to understand that PwC were working to the tune of their paymasters who were so so deep in the sh1t they were literally sh1tting themselves.
The heavily doctored report still shows what we suspected all along, there is serious foul play going on with the nation's income stream and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Will people now believe and appreciate where the 'trillions' spent on the just concluded elections came from?
Nigeria obviously earns a lot more money than is shown in the books, my guestimate is probably 40% more to be conservative but some might even say less than 50% of the nation's income from crude is remitted to the national coffers.
Billionaires were created every year the last administration was in power while simultaneously millions were been pushed into poverty |

omicron: Who do we disclose to? To a person or to the Authorities?
Which diseases do we disclose according to you? The man with Tuberculosis should be disclosed cos he is a risk to fellow bus passengers for eg?
The law is clear about reportable diseases. HIV is not a reportable disease.
Doctor's are privy to lots of confidential information, unknown to even the closest people to their patients. Diseases, miscariages, abortions, drug use, genetic issues, parternity issues, all of them placing their partners at varying degrees of disadvantage. But should they now go about and start telling anybody everythin?
The confidientiality clause is there to protect the patient, whom the doctor is legally contracted to. And mind you, we are all patients at one point or another. I am talking specifically about HIV, this will cause direct harm in a way that an abortion or history of drug taking in a spouse would not. I can see what the general consensus is here and that is for non disclosure but does anyone know what the Nigerian law says in this matter? Whatever our personal opinion that should be what guides local practice. |
Health › Re: She Hid Her Hiv Status From Her Hubby For 5yrs by naijafresh: 4:12pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
Billyonaire: It is unethical to disclose someone's HIV status to another without the consent of the victim. It doesnt matter if the person in question is a husband, a wife, a mother, a father or sibling. That Doctor needs to be issued a query.
As for the woman, it is high level of selfishness to not disclose your HIV to your lover and to get married to him and infect him is man-slaughter.
As for the husband, he is just one of the many victims. Take heart, you are positive already. Is this what the law says in Nigeria? I agree it is unethical to disclose in certain circumstances but the husband is at direct risk of harm. Where is his protection in the law? Where I practice it is against the law to knowingly infect anyone with HIV and the spouse with HIV can't withhold their status from their sexual partner. |
Health › Re: She Hid Her Hiv Status From Her Hubby For 5yrs by naijafresh: 4:07pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
omicron: I have had similar experience. The wife hid her HIV positive status from the husband till her death, and we as doctors learnt that at the point of her death. She still insisted no one should tell him. She died few hours after.
As a doctor, you should always ask an HIV positive person the people she has confided in regarding her status, and whom she would want you to disclose to. Whenever possible, this should be in writing.
No doctor has a right or duty to divulge any patient's information to another person, no matter how "close", even when the patient is dead. Unless in a case where non-disclosure of such information poses danger to the community...eg Ebola, lassa fever, etc.
The modern physician's Oath is there in my display pic So tell me, if someones behaviour is likely to put the health of another at risk in this case her husband what do you do? The risk of her husband contracting HIV is high and therein lies the moral dilemma. What does the law say in Nigeria? in some countries you have to disclose this information or both of you are committing a crime. |
Sports › Re: South Africa To Organise Two Friendlies To Fight Xenophobia by naijafresh: 3:36pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
Parolee: You sound look like a sensible fellow. Let me try paint the picture for you. First Hans information not some rubbish from the internet.
I personally do not have a problem with foreigners Nigerians etc who come here having a clear plan and valid reasons why they have to be here. In our office block we have two Nigerian guys, one running a males boutique and the other guy a combo of a saloon and a convenience shop. Clean shops these and good dealings...no funny stuff going on with these guys...that's good. I even enjoy talking to them a lot about Nigeria. So there are many SAns who share my view on this.
On the flip side. There are many other foreigners who are here who don't have a clue at all why are they here in the first place. They only heard that things are better in SA and because of our porous ports of entry these guys woke up the following day and they are in SA. That what they have come to do, they don't have the faintest idea at all. I'm talking about foreigners from peaceful countries they are all here....Nigerians, Ghanaians, Cameroonians, Somalis, Ethiopians, Congolese, Mozambicans, Zimbabweans, Zambians, Basotho, Swazis (they even cross the borders to try and get on our social grants fraudulently e.g. elderly citizens monthly grants), Pakistanis, Chinese etc....everybody is here. Now, when these people that came without any plan of action get trapped in the frustrations of daily survival struggles - they end up doing crime - if you think I don't know what I'm talking about go to Hillbrow Jhb, Sunnyside Pta, Point Road Dbn...these are just few examples. If it were your own country you wouldn't like to witness what the foreigners are getting up to in these areas. I am not exaggerating. I know what I'm talking about. These areas have turned and become no go zones for SAns in their own country. That is not acceptable. I want to believe no SAns are doing that I'm Nigeria.
How can you come all the way done here only to cut people's hair at R30.00 per cut or sell sweets by the pavement / roadside? It's not a viable thing to do....the poor chap must pay rent for his barber shop, pay rent where is accommodated, maintain himself, send money back home etc....it's just not viable through cutting people's hair or selling sweets.
I live in Nelspruit. Anderson Street in town is a well know brothel zone where local girls are hooked on drugs and work as sex slaves for their Nigerian masters. Its not acceptable. There's even a joint called ka-Nigerian where sleaze is the order of the day. Not acceptable - sex work is a criminal activity by SAn law. Don't do it, especially if you are a foreigner respect the laws of your host. These guys most of them are not contributing anything through taxes. The country is not coping, its all too much. Government departments like health and housing are overburdened trying to offer services firstly to SAns and also the foreigners.... I mean free state services....mind you the country has her own challenges e.g. slow economic growth. So, some thing had to give at some point.
Having said all this....I am totally against attacks on foreigners....all the cruel things that have been done is evil of the highest order. Almost the majority of SAns condemn these including government etc.
Most churches in SA this past Sunday were praying for peace and calm...I did that too. Just this Monday, there is a big rally happening in the Durban CBD where the King Goodwill Zwelithini who is seen as an instigator to this will state his side....so will the politicians.
I believe foreigners who are here because of valid and real reasons e.g. contributing to the economy through formal jobs that can be taxed, studying etc can remain here......but all the other guys like those cutting people's hair, selling sweets and cigarettes etc.....and all those roaming around aimlessly and loitterinf with nothing to do......need to seriously consider going back home to the countries of their origin.
I hope I have painted a very clear picture of what is going on here.
Thank you. Thank you for your response, I took the time to read through it. I was pleased to note that you are against violence and mob justice. I agree with your views on people travelling to the so called 'land of milk and honey' without a plan only to live on the streets or resort to petty crime. I experience that also in the country I live in but we don't go round killing all foreigners good or bad or practice mob justice. Your government needs to be proactive not stand aside and let mob justice rule. Your government is silently complicit in all the killings and the majority of people on social media in SA feel it is alright because they are 'criminals', this is not right! If I was one of the two Nigerians you describe in your block I would be fearful for my life, legitimate or not. A similar scenario is you travelling to the US and being thrown in jail because you came from a country with a history of violent crime and murder. Would you not feel a profound feeling of injustice? If these people were rounded up by the police and the illegal aliens and criminals deported or jailed no one would complain about it afterall they are committing crimes and causing a nuisance. We can't fling the doors of any country open for all sorts to come in but we can allow the legitimate foreigners live peacefully without fear of violence or economic loss. SA needs to condemn the violence not support it that's the bottom line |

I repeat....you display some stinking attitude in even in foreign countries where you migrate to...that's your main problem.
If you are so good as a people...remain therefore within your borders. Nice! So all Nigerians are fraudsters, drug dealers and petty crooks then that means all South Africans are HIV ridden, illiterate, rapists and murderers. Also explains why more people are getting killed tonight in Jo'burg than any other city in the world. Your logic is flawed and I am afraid it is South Africa burning right now not Nigeria, when South Africa was burning with Apartheid, Nigeria was there I rest my case |

Parolee: I see.
From the comments made by most of you here....I am only left with one thing to do, shake my head at how Nigerians think and approach things.
Your cockiness and aloof view of yourselves is your lot most serious problem. That's what you even practice and do when even living in other people's countries.
In my other postings I was sympathetic to affected Nigerians....but after reading most of your comments under this thread no normal person can stomach your cockiness and aloof view of yourselves.
SAns are doing right by claiming back Hillbrow, Sunnyside, Point Road etc from the hands of the feared Nigerian drug lords and criminals who have turned these areas no go zones for SAns even in their own country. Nonsense. Unacceptable. Your cockiness and false sense of self worthiness as a people is annoying.
For instance....someone will travel all the way from Cross Rivers to here only to cut people's hair for R 30.00 each. Why don't you cut people's hair in Cross Rivers? Don't people have hair over there?
Nonsense. Your cockiness and aloofness have removed all my sympathy. Nonsense. I'm SAn by the way. By your comments we could see you're South African, all the South African media outlets and social media comments support murder of innocent like you are in this post, you give some lame excuse about someone cutting hair etc so tell me why did MTN come to Nigeria? Do the South African people not have money, ears and hands to use mobile phone in their country? The world is a global village, so deal with it. If you can't see the gravity of the situation and the fact that many Africans not just Nigerians are angry then you don't have a conscience and you're no better than those street hoodlums that have been killing people in the streets The rest of the Nigerians on this forum are coming for you and they won't be so kind or reserved |
