jking001: Now am beginning to suspect your intention on this forum, are you trying to say its legal to pass racist comments on someone in the usa?why are you trying so hard to justify insults on our president?are you a spie ?what's your problem? Have watched a dozen interview and maccain never insulted the usa president even if they have different view or approach to certain issues, but he could pass derogatory statements on our president, why are you trying so hard to convince me,who has that time to go on youtube if you don't have american forums that you can paste their links here please forget about this argument.Once again, i rest my case. I have no time for this. |
redcliff: Another mumuMumu. ![]() That word has always made me laugh. |
jking001: Insults from who?please give me websites and names, where they openly and publicly insult the president of the united states of america, for criticism yes, like calling him the worse modern day president and stuffs like that apart from that the laws doesn't even condone it i mean racist comments, can anyone call him a drunk black monkey publicly?that's stereotyping which happens here in nigeria people call the president drunk ijaw fisher man, what they don't know is that he's a nigerian and the president they are only reducing the value placed on nigerians be it an hausa ibo or yoruba man we are all know to the world as nigerians.I just love some Nigerians in Nigeria with that "In America ehn.." mentality. I don't know who you are, or where you've been, but i'm quite sure you've never lived in the U.S, so your perspective is skewed. Obama is called worse derogatory names both in public and online (more online of course coz most people worldwide are only e-warriors). Go on any obama video on youtube to get a slight dose, and then you can head to the comments section of any right-wing conservative website for some more. Anyway this isn't what the thread is about, so i rest my case. |
jking001: Mr what you don't know is that lack of respect for the office of the president has resulted in lots of problem for nigeria ,if you think our holy books are lieing think again,in the bible it says respect those in position of authority, this is the source of our problem,Obama is a black man in a white country how many times have you seen its citizens insult their president the way we do in nigeria? we have no regard for the office of the president and its a bad example set by our leaders Atiku and co should not be regarded as patriots all those that have disregarded the office of the president for one reason or the other,if you are not president today tomorrow you may be and once a bad precedent has been set it goes on forever if unabated, its high time we tell ourselves the truth for one's ,i presume Tunde Bakare has realized his mistake and has cautioned his lips from making silly utrrances against the president because if anyone does that he's indirectly insulting himself. As an American citizen, i can tell you that Obama receives more insults and criticism from the Right-wing lunatics than GEJ does from his critics |
what do you do? |

The concept of "the good ol days" is typically a myth brought about by nostalgia. Today will be looked back upon as "the good ol days" twenty years from now. Why? Because people generally look back and remember only the good things. Fela wouldn't have been singing the songs he did from the 70s to the 90s if they were such great times. An example of this skewed nostalgia is Ice Prince' song "Tears for Naija" which was generally about Boko & co. Ltd. he said: "In 1996 it was better than that, in 1997 it was better than that, in 1998 it was better than that" Oh really? guess what you're forgetting, those where the dark days of Abacha. See all the e-warriors we have on Nairaland today who freely throw insults at the president and every politician? Between 1994 -1998 THEY WOULD HAVE ALL BEEN REPORTED MISSING BY NOW. I'm an 80s baby and grew up in Nigeria in the 90s (for the most part). I can relate to the things listed here as "the good ol days" but i just had to point out the real aspects, as people tend to lose sight of these. END of rant. ![]() |
