A typical Northerner wakes up in the morning and carries his transistor radio and tunes to either the VOA or the BBC Hausa section.

Most of them are not as ignorant about world happenings as some of you think. It's not that bad.

There are a lot of slums in Lagos as well. Community transmission is a country-wide problem, not only of the North.

We have our problems, yes. But if the so called sophisticated ones had only listened and stayed in Lagos like it was being advised, we wouldn't have been here now.

So of what use was all their education and access to information?
Actually, it was northerners who travelled from Lagos to the north who are now spreading it

Like I said earlier, this virus is fully airborne. Despite weeks of Lockdown, cases have been jumping. I, for one, fully believe that by simply breathing, transmission can occur

Masks seems to be more effective. Pls wear one whenever outside

Stay safe
Are people seeing this?

WEAR NOSE MASKS. This is the most effective way of preventing community transmission.

And this is when all our extremely incompetent Govs should start enforcing wearing of nose masks.

If i was a Gov, and any of my agants catch you outside, i might shoot you in the leg. No kidding.
Better you are shot in the leg than trying to kill people(whether knowingly or unknowingly). I will strictly enforce something that essentially saved those Asia countries close to China compared to European countries who didnt wear masks.

Of course, I will first ensure that everyone who needs food is provided for by my Govt even if it means borrowing. I will also flood the state with nose masks or ask people to improvise before coming out.

But then again, who am i kidding. This is Nigeria afterall

Kyase:
we are heading to the peak now.
i pray our peak no pass 2k
Which peak are you talking about.

It(community transfer) is just starting and you are talking about peak.

The north is unfortunately joining the frame, with Kano leading the pack. The SE may also soon join as long as people keep travelling at night from one state to the other.

If the FG and State Govts can stop their incompetence for a moment and on the pain of serious consequences prevent inter state travellling for at least 14 days whilst tracing those who already travelled, then we are in for a big mess.

It is no longer Foreign returnees transmitting this now, but people travelling from one state to the other.

God help us all.

The government is helpless in the current situation.

Nevertheless, if the impact of the pandemic does not get as bad as predicted for the West and other trade partners of Nigeria then we might not be caught in as bad a situation as predicted by the IMF.

So, as much as we hope and pray for our nation, so must we also for those we depend on for imports and exports. We need them to remain healthy for our government to remain solvent. Imagine the downward trend continues in the US, the blowback on the world economy would be catastrophic, especially for developing and third world countries. NGOs which employ our friends and families would become part of the first casualties. As funding gets slashed for them, so would their workforce.

The scariest of all is the current price of oil at the international market. It portends grave danger for our economy.
The Govt is "helpless" my azzz.

Wasnt this Govt supppsed to have diversified the Nigerian Economy away from Oil than it met it. Was that not the promise they made.

Throughout the last 5 years of this Govt, the economy has been worst off in every economic index than in any period over the last 35 years(including 2008).

I know of 3 times that Nigeria have been on Recession. And guess what all of them have in common: Buhari

Both the FG and RSG should stop this unnnecessary bickering amongst themselves and focus on the Corona virus fight in Rivers ans Nigeria. The issue can be easily resolved between them.

The people i really feel sorry for is Caverton Helicopters. They are caught between 2 "giants". And if they are wise and are good businessmen, they should not take any sides.

As soon as Innoson established itself as a known automobile manufacturing brand in Africa with huge market base, they should venture into the aviation industry for the building of planes. The market for air travel in Africa is very bright.

And i really wanted to be wrong about Buhari capacity for once ay least in this corona case.

But alas, Buhari is the WORST leader in the histroy of the country. In fact, he is the worst leader i have ever seen. It is mind blowing.

How could you not close the borders or very strictly monitor entrance after the 1st index case. How is it possible that in the last 2 months, you have not found it necessary to address a fearful nation, something that State Govts like Sanwo Olu are trying to do.

Why is our President so completely ABSENT.

Reading prepared speech is not a big deal with Pres. Buhari. He does that excellently every year before global audience at UN General Assembly. So, he could have read another speech containing COVID-19 precautionary tips if he wanted but obviously he didn't consider his address as being key to COVID-19 control. He is doing the vital policy actions and setting up necessary response mechanisms as a responsible government should do. Chikenna!

Buhari is merely being himself: unemotional, practical and introverted. People who love and support him recognize his shortcomings and weaknesses but count on his strengths. God bless him.

Why not simply stage a walk out...?
Let it be known that south east is no longer represented at the assembly...
Let it be known that south East is no longer part of Nigeria...
I agree completely with you here.

Buhari is a lost case. I mean, that he is a wicked nepolistic irrdentist is well known.

But what of SE politicians who are in power? By now, no Senator or HOR from the SE should be attending the national assrmbly sittings. No Gov should visit Abuja for any meeting. Thry should all boycott the Govt at the centre.

If they do so for just a week and everyone know they are serious, the cowards at the centre will buckle. And they will never try to belittle a wholr region again.

Cos how in the hell will the country take a loan of a whopping $22bn and none of that money will be spent in an entire region yet that region will be required to pay the loan when the time comes.

They are do to you what you allow them to.
