Politics › Re: Nigeria Must Exist On Basis Of Equality — Northern Leaders by nameo: 3:00pm On Jun 06, 2020
LegendHero:
Out of all the crap above there is only one truth that they spoke about:

—“If the South-South is claiming the North is a parasite on the region, that region should ask itself what were the sources of Nigeria’s revenue before the discovery of oil at Oloibiri in the present Bayelsa State in 1965? What was the significance of oil before its discovery & exploration by the Shell Oil? What revenue did Nigeria use to fund oil exploration?” Chief Abu quipped.”

Initially during the 1900s, the Southern Protectorate and Lagos colony were the one financing the Northern Protectorate. Also, in addition to that, the Northern protectorate got huge grant from the Imperial Treasury to complement what they generated locally. Some of the reason for the low productivity of the North was because they prohibited the trade in Spirits due to the fact that islamic religion forbade alcohol. Spirit was part of the major revenue generating commodity then.

After the individual regions were created (Southern, Eastern, and Northern Region) , the table turned. Looking at the Federal gazette from 1957s up to the period of oil boom, the highest generator of revenue for the federal government are arranged below in terms of hierarchy.

1- Western Region
2- Northern Region
3- Eastern Region

Most revenue running the Federal government Is from the Western and Northern Region.

So when these guys (Northerners) are trying to justify the statement that the oil producing region shouldn’t be too pompous about them being the source of revenue to the country, they might be right to some extent. Some Region have helped before, the Oil producing region should help now this time around.

However currently, the North is pulling Nigeria backward because they have contributed more to the socio-economic failure of Nigeria by their not-too productive huge population, Terrorist activities that resulted in Nigeria wasting lot of money on equipping soldiers and buying weapons, poverty metrics, high illiteracy rate, and etc.
Where are you getting the things yoi just wrote here?

Plzz be very sure of the sources in your answer before answering me.

There has never been a time the northern refion has generated money more than the south. NEVER.

The northern elites pushing this narrative are not only lying through their teeth but entrenching the already precarious position they currently are in

Add to that the most incompetent govt in Nigeria's history.

He is just a waste!!!
Education › Re: FG Kicks-off Modified Home Grown School Feeding Programme In Lagos by nameo: 12:12pm On May 22, 2020
This programme from when it was conceived was a waste in the allocation of scarce resources- every economist would understand this(whether they agree or not) and also an avenue for fraud.

This new modified system is simply FRAUD and it is one of the stupidest ideas i have ever seen. When we should be discipline with how we spend our money esp with what is certainly coming in a few month's time(the Finance Minister just said yesterday that the economy may contract by as much as -8% this year), we are wasting scarce resources (billions of naira) in a meaningless programme where much of the money would be stolen anyways.

Stupid Govt!!!
Spineless Citizens!!!

This is not out of the norm, there is a 2 week strict quarantine period for new arrivals whether you tested positive or not, due to a 2 week incubation period the Covid-19 has.

After 2 weeks the strict restriction should be lifted according to protocol. It’s tough but I don’t think the govt is being harsh intentionally. Just my opinion anyway.
You are right, Bros.

The Govt is now doing exactly what they should have done late Feb immediately the 1st case was detected.

The returnees should keep quiet and stay there for 2 weeks. And it afterall one of the conditions for evacuating them back.

They however have a point if they say no Govt officials is engaging them there. Govt should do better here

In terms of Infrastructure, this admistration is doing quite well.. but more need to be done on
security and the huge cost of governance
This admin is NOT doing well in infrastructure!!!

Or are you guys mad or something? This is so annoying.
Which infrastructure are you guys talking about:

POWER: This admin has hardly done anything in power. The last admin did much more than them in power.

AVIATION: The last admin did much better than them here too. The facelifting of domestic terminals and even the start/funding of renovation of international terminals were done last admin

EDUCATION: The last admin also did better infrastructure wise also- from building of new universities ans secondary schools as well as renovation of older ones.

HEALTH: I have.no idea here. Both didn't do much. But suffice to say that this admin has failed here.

ROADS: I dont see what special this admin has done in this area. Just as the last admin repaired/reconstructed some roads, this admin is also doing same. Both having largely failed here as well.

RAILS: This is the only area where this admin can lay claim to been better and that will be debatable. For instance, it was the last admin that reconstructed and revived the old Lagos-Kano and PH-Maiduguri railways, virtually constructed almost everything of the Abuja- Kaduna railway that this admin simply completed and commissioned (same railway that some of you clowns are now using to make this argument here), almost finished the Warri-Itakpe railway, and negotiated funding for the Lagos-Kano railway(for which this admin takes a lot of credit for seeing through).

So i dont see how this admin did better infrastructure wise than the last admin. They did NOT. You guys should stop your annoying propaganda. The failing Govt should just work. We will see it. We will not need their paid hacks to come and "remind" us of their good work.

DISCLAIMER: Whilst i fully believe that infrastructure wise the last admin is clearly better than this admin, let me state that i believe that both largely failed on this count. Absolutely. We deserve better as a country. Way better. Which is why i even bothered to comment on this sillly thread

Leave them let them continue to post pics of a few basic infrastructure which every sane Govt should provide even in the 3rd world, projects that were mostly even ongoing before this Govt came in, as proof that this extremely incompetent Govt is somehow doing well.

Simply disgusting!!!

And to think that the comparison is also with another useless party, PDP.

Dont we deserve more in this country??

Please don't forget the APC projects below;

1. Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan Railway
2. Kaduna-Abuja Railway
3. Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Warri Railway
4. Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
5.Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway
6. Apapa-Oshodi-Iyana_Oworo Expressway
7. Remodeling of several international airports which PDP left to decay.

Someone please post PDP projects
The funny thing is that most of the projects listed above were started by the PDP and much of the work in a lot of them was even done before APC came to power.

If after 5 years, and if these projects that APC met on ground(some of which have not even been completed) is the reason you wanna give the present Govt a pass, i really feel immerse pity for you and yours.

And then when you compare both parties in terms of basic economic index( inflation, exchange rate, poverty rate, employment rate, hunger rate, stock exchange performance etc), security and running an inclusive Govt, APC even fails behind the PDP, as bad as PDP was.

Just see how the APC FG Govt has completely malhandled the corona crisis in Nigeria!!!!

Both parties have failed Nigerians.

But APC is even the worst in my view, esp as they were voted in to significantly correct the ills of the PDP.

My anger is that we have overtaken Ghana again.lagos still topping the charts,I don't know why Edo case is worsening.perhaps its because obaseki failed to lockdown early.
Nigeria is in deep poo cos your President failed, as SanwoOlu and Fayemi said recently, to lockdown airports and properly isolate those coming from abroad on it between late Feb and late March.

The virus was brought by few people and has now gone to the dangerous community infection stage.

For almost 2 months, Nigeria has tested about 18,000 persons(a tiny proportion of our population and even smaller than what some African countries have done).

Govts, at all levels have failed to provide palliatives for people to stay at home(which is the main reason the lockdown is been eased by the way), failed to effectively enforce the lockdown when it was operational(including inter state travels), failed to expand bed capacities in lieu of expected increasing space(the Min of Health only suggesting recently that Nigerians give their houses as isolation centre), failed to provide PPEs for those in hospitals such that hospitals are rejecting patients who may not even have Corona.

We are paying for the abysmal leadership we have tolerated for so long in this country.
At this point , only God can help us fooolishness and show us mercy.

Politics › Re: Buhari To Gradually Ease Lockdown In Lagos, FCT And Ogun From 4th May by nameo: 8:26pm On Apr 27, 2020
I feel his decision this night was generally in the right direction:

The gradual easing of the lockdown but after 1 week extension in the 3 states of Lagos, Ogun and FCT(this extension is necessary);

The total lockdown of Kano and takeover by Federal authorities (which is extremely important at this time cos of the explosive nature of things going on in Kano and its potential to infecting other neighbouring states);

The ban of interstate travels;

The curfew at night.

Where he failed were exactly those areas that should be the direct responsibility of his Govt:

No talk of palliatives;

No talk on a strong economic plan/stimulus for the economy that is bleeding;

No strong push at massive and conprehensive testing across the nation.

May God help us and have mercy on us- mercy for allowing the kinda Govts that is ruling us at every level

Although, understandably, things happened very quickly within a short space of time, the poor planning and unpreparedness that characterized Abba Kyari's burial were embarrassing to say the least.

Apart from social distancing, the funniest blunder was, rightly, giving PPE suit to the men who handled Abba Kyari's cadaver but, wrongly, abandoning them to wallow in confusion as to what to so with the outfit after the burial. One of the men looked right and looked left and then decided that best thing to do was to 'jejely' dump the goddam dress by the roadside and be free.

In short, what happened at Abba Kyari's burial was a dangerous dance with death.
Were you surprised??

The imcompetence in display that day is same incompetence shown by this Govt since inauguration.

I think you're the only sensible person I've seen so far, the question should be what's the criteria used. From the little i understand, its a cash transfer for the indigent...poorest of the poor, people suffering from extreme poverty. From what we all know and what we all agree to, the far north has the highest number of people wallowing in extreme poverty. When it comes to insulting the north we know that but when it comes to handouts to extremely poor people, we argue about that. All we're good at is tribal and religious sentiments
Nope, you are totally wrong.

Except you allow sentiments to becloud your sense of reasoning.

The grants at this time is for the poor people AFFECTING or IMPACTED by the corona virus.
Naturally, any assistance for now should target the poor in those states most imparted in respect of total lockdown and no of cases.

States like Lagos, FCT, Osun, Edo and now Kano.

You get??

But from this report, not only are you giving Katsina the largest chunk, the most imparted state (Lagos) is given nothing i.e assuming this report is correct.

I have no element of discrimination against the north(i honestly do not understand how people can be tribalist) so this is from a place of sincere understanding of issues. I would expect same from you, whether you are northerner or not.

See what is wrong and condemn it, all the time
