PoliticsRe: River Niger Project Puts Jonathan Into Trouble by naso2(m): 2:57pm On Mar 01, 2010
ud4u:
This man want to make the costliest mistake of his life this early stage. He is fighting Niger Delta course this early morning. Have you people forgotten that Niger Delta was against River Niger Dredging.

Nonsense, let him not be selfish.
Not being selfish would mean he should neglect the prerequisites which will minimise/eliminate the danger this dredging poses to the riverrine ND communities abi? Nonsense.

The fact that Jonathan was VP when UMYA started this project does not mean he agrees with the terms upon which the project started. Is it this UMYA that could not cede power to his vice that would have consulted Jonathan , or respected the cries of the ND communities?

Jonathan goes ahead to implement this task without  due diligence and 10 years down the line when the problems start for the communities, people like you are the ones that will first say "IT WAS YOUR BROTHER WHO WAS PRESIDENT WHEN THIS SHABBY PROJECT WAS DONE", People will find it very easy then  to flaunt signed documents to support their case.

I am not saying the project should be stopped , but eh , enough of this useless approach  of disregarding host communities and the attendant environmental harzards in the  name of "National Good". Things must be done properly.

If there are recommendations in the EIA that UMYA overlooked in his "aboki arrogance", then Jonathan has to stop the project and implement those recommendations before the project continues. QED.

This good for nothing man should be impeached and tried immediately.

Aside his show of shame with CNN reporters, can you imagine him pushing to raise 100billion bonds for projects no one knows about. We are talking of Bayelsa state with the massive monthly allocation for pete's sakes. People like him give these northerners sufficient premise to even push for the reduction of derivation funds.

He is so malevolent that he crudely handles opposition. This man chose to embarass some members of the opposition by charging them for treason. Their offense was daring to petition the president  and allegedly making the president cancel an initial state visit to Bayelsa. My people treason charge within a state?

ndu_chucks:
“I believe that it is people around him that are gaining from the confusion; people around him that are doing to him today what 100 million political enemies cannot do to him”, she said, adding: “He has done a lot for this country and suddenly, a few people are rubbishing it. They stole him into this country in the night”.

Expressing personal frustration at her inaccessibility to information on the President’s health status, she said: “You manage information if you have information. We did not have information that our President was travelling to Saudi Arabia until we read it in the news, and when he was in Saudi Arabia we hardly got information.

“We never had a comprehensive channel of getting information that we are sure of and most of the information sometimes, they don’t add up and it gets very disturbing. When they don’t add up, you feel very awkward reporting such information.

Although she admitted that her February 5th memo was a turning point in what she called “the politics of Yar’Adua’s illness”, and goaded some people into action at various levels, one of her children in the USA, who read it on the internet called on phone and asked “What is wrong with Mummy? Is she on drugs?”
Stole him into the country? Abeg Dora kooooooooool down . Your are getting too hot , please dont overdo it.

Please Soyinka and Dora arent the president or acting president of a country if there were - Soyinka would have been dead by now- SE will cause civil war if Dora doesnt become president in enough time. lets be honest I dont mean to make it tribe thing.

But if jonathan was from the SE he and those from his region wouldnt have been patient enough to get this far.
Soyinka dora and all those people who asked for power to be handed over did so because they are not in jonathans shoes.

If Soyinka was in jonathans shoes and openly asked for power to be handed to him- it would be seen as an act of disloyalty and a secret agenda -he Definately wont get anything.
Theres a reason why soyinka is an activist and can NEVER be presido. Dora did what she could for her position but she would NEVER have thought about saying it if she were jonathan.

He should be calm and lay low and be confident that US and UK are behind him. Hes been asserting himself well so far without stepping on any feet. Hes active in the Niger coup situation, assuring investors to stay in naija, what else does everyone want him to do that wont get him killed?
You think very deep . I like your post.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Moves To Restructure Presidency by naso2(m): 1:47am On Feb 28, 2010
mikeansy:
Na so

This battle was always Jonathan's to loose and I must say his coolness was good to some degree but he himself almost plunged the country into crisis because of his passive attitude.

I was never in support of dissolving the FEC because I do know that appointing Ministers was the easy bit. Getting them approved in Senate would have taken the rest of this administration.

But the fact remains that just like it was very necessary to move Aondoakaa, so it is to remove the NSA and tincker with the security network a little. The guy was not in charge of security and that was very dangerous. If not for the times we live in, the importation of Yar'adua would have stoked up enough fear to stage a coup and it will take root. Information availablility helped undermine the Yar'aduas and their agenda.

Forget about the noise from US and UK, there is not a lot they will do other than isolation and sanctions. They wont invade Nigeria. So Jonathan should have taken charge of security and led the country in the absence of his boss. He dithered too much on certain issues and we need to thank God that the composition of Nigerian Army has changed a lot. All credits to OBJ.

Jonathan's behaviour to some extent was very risky security wise.
You made a good point there.

However I still remember your posts on Jonathan when Dora first presented her "popular" memo, hence makes me feel like there is a jonathan you have always percieved which you are struggling to sustain.

OMO IBO:
A spineless and liverless Jonathan now pulling strings in Aso Rock, . . .eh!

Should the restructure go on as reported I'd wonder where he got the staff to do such.
The way some of us analyse  issues here is baffling. Spineless? My friend wisdom guides a man to focus more on the end and not style.

When you stay in Lagos and or any other part of southern Nigeria to analyse the issue here without factoring what the average Hausaman In KANO or MAIDUGURI thinks in this yaradua saga , then such consideration is incomplete ,inaccurate and useless.

Bravery is not same as playing to the gallery. One of the first challenges of a real man is the ability to conquer himself. Yes conquer yourself when provoked  but you have to choose between temporay insult but an accomplished end OR  Fighting the commando style for "pride" ,get some public applause but miss the goal.

Ask "livered" ATIKU who we all know is finished politically and sincerely he will tell you that he now knows better, that given the same confrontational circumstance from his boss he would act differently. We all know when Atiku fell off the cliff.

May  be many of us do not know that if jonathan had sacked the FEC and replaced all of them with his loyalists on his first day as acting president, we hardly would have gone half way in the proper impeachment proceedings. To impeach president on health grounds no be two weeks job o. If una no know make i tell una. With that approach he would have so heated up the polity that both him and the entire country could have been consumed
.

The only thing Jonathan needed was the true picture of yaradua's health and the chances of his survival. ThIs I can be sure he  haD, by the grace of OBJ, USA and the UK. With this he would have known that all the IGG (initial gra gra ) of yaradua's camp will wane in a matter of days. Why over react and set himself up for suspicion? Jonathan wants to give the the average northerner the impression that he is the kind of southerner they can entrust with power and he will gladly relinquish come 2011. The man na korny man.

Would guys have preffered an okadigbo-like forceful approach? then u must be kidding
PoliticsRe: Mend Must Be Assimilated Into The Nigerian Army by naso2(m): 4:43pm On Feb 26, 2010
Beaf:
The man that suggested it was too simplistic, but he would go and check the meaning of "vast gold resources" is yet to return. It is likely he has taken a detour to empower OPC to fight for their rights too. grin
What is simplistic, is expecting armed men to lay down their arms for a monthly stipend, the nation is better served employing them in the area of their expertise.
Like it or not, the so called amnesty is a sham (it has helped rid us off criminals who have become fake militants overnight); the true MEND fighters need to bolster our armies capabilities.

PS: Jonathan is Nigeria's leader, not an ND leader.
My guy ,  first be it known  that I am a full blooded Izon man.

As touching "vast (immense, gigantic, limitless, great) gold resources" in the south west , I think you need to fill me in. Where in the south west exactly? We dey learn everyday.

I said it is too simplistic on the grounds that you tend to premise Mend's existence disproportionately  on joblessness . Yes there are  lots of jobless youth that serve as ready resource for combat, but where would you now place others in Mend that are not there becuase they are jobless.

Secondly will the mend input now be part of the Federal quota from the ND states? Or how do you reconcile this with the existing Federal character arrangement used in enlisting men for the service? Or since mend is largely Ijaw, does that account for the Ijaw quota alone?

Will a normal Mend member be able to  show restraint for national good as is expected of a soldier  in the face of provocation, when tribal or regional interest appear threatened like in Jonathan's case now?

These are just afew of the begging questions.

Or are you simply suggesting formal regional armies as an extention of your fiscal federalism call?
PoliticsRe: Mend Must Be Assimilated Into The Nigerian Army by naso2(m): 12:08pm On Feb 26, 2010
Beaf:
MEND must be assimilated into the nigerian army as a specialist force that is suited to a swamp environment and securing of our oil installations. Training will be provided by the US and overseen by the UN.
True federalism must be instituted, so that;
[li]the SE controls its coal and oil[/li]
[li]the SS controls its vast oil and other resources[/li]
[li]the SW controls its vast gold resources[/li]

[li]the Middle belt controls its numerous minerals[/li]
[li]the core North is free to practise sharia[/li]
Federal character and the quota system must be introduced into the rank and file of the military. It should not be limited to education, civil service, the CBN, NNPC and other lucrative areas.
What happens to opc and other regional militia, you make it sound too simplistic.

off to check the meaning of vast. I'll be back. undecided undecided undecided

He should be more involved than ever, because it's the manufacturer of a vehicle that holds the manual and solution to its problems. I foresee a Nigeria broken into several splinter regional units if some fools are not pushed out now. Jonathan is sitting on a keg of hot gun powder even as one of his own tribe's men(Ibori) is a mastermind in his own undoing. What level of education, if any, does Turai have? She comes across to me as an illiterate, megalomaniac, unfeeling and half-witted cretin. Damn her!
Ibori? who is he?.
He is just one fool taking maximum advantage of the useless yaradua setup . Why do you think he is fighting with his life? becuase he has everything to loose when jonathan comes in, and in a matter of days that will happen.

All the cover AONDAKAA has been giving him will be blow away very very soon.
PoliticsRe: Where Is Obasanjo In All These? by naso2(m): 11:25am On Feb 26, 2010
Gbawe:
OBJ is keeping a low profile. This is the right thing to do because OBJ , more than anyone else , is responsible for this mess. Of all the sophisticated, detribalised, enlightened and exposed leaders Nigeria has OBJ had to go and choose a reclusive, tribalistic, vengeful and feudalistic simpleton (yes he is a simpleton) to run the affairs of our complex nation. To make matters worse , Yar dua came with one of the worst baggage possible - an unexposed and unenlightened housewife who fancies herself as Condoleeza Rice !!!!

OBJ should hide away in shame. Let him remain out of Nigerian politics as I am of the opinion that he is a force of negativity and regression. First he gave Nigeria Shagari and the rot began. Now his annointed son (Yar Adua) and his 'crew' are wreaking malevolent havoc everywhere !!!
I somehow disagree. You never know with these northerners. They appear as broadminded as anyone would wish until you hand them power. Then the real mallam will show up.

Secondly considering the situation we found ourselves at the time of the election it was glaring that all available options were really bad.

At least give OBJ some credit for coming out boldly to ask Yaradua to resign , somehow I think he realised the mistake in his choice.

While everyone understands that the COAS is a very sensitive military office, he should know that the OBJs , IBBs and the David Marks of this world are smart enough to handle him. He should ask Ishaya Bamaiyi who once thought he was larger than life.

If he is not careful when the dust settles he could be charged for coup ploting.

I think Chelsea played well. The penalty and the DD freekick were simply painful.

I respect Ancelotti's approach of keeping Maicon busy on how to manage KALOU , thereby making it difficult for him to exploit the weakness in a makeshift LB.

Anelka and Lampard were just poor.

I cant see that inter defence holding DD in the second leg.
PoliticsRe: Produce The President Or Declare Him Missing! by naso2(m): 8:09pm On Feb 25, 2010

The politicians know that if they dont act fast to stem this tide, na im be say all of dem go soon. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
PoliticsRe: Produce The President Or Declare Him Missing! by naso2(m): 7:43pm On Feb 25, 2010
I think we are somehow not looking at the issue objectively. First Jonathan had to take out AONDAKAA, at least to forestall any legal tackles from the YARA, camp. That we all applauded. The next thing we were calling for was a major cabinet reshuffle and change of service chiefs. In this regard Jonathan had to tread softly as the issue of trust loomed. The powers behind the scene are not sure that jonathan will not change the existing politcal(rotational) arrangement.

Too many changes would have created so much tension in the country and remember that even if he acted faster , at best the senate will still be working on the impeachment details.

The only mistake I think Jonathan made was not fortifying his own intelligence network to track everything the Turai camp was planning. He probably was getting "info" to work with from Saharareporters like most of us.

I still think Jonathan has a strong chance. This is a marathon , not a dash.

What was the worst that could happen.

The worst that could have happened was for him to be impeached, and the
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY would not have been able to muster the required votes anyway.

The SPINELESS BAGGAR.

Why do southerners always lose their bottle when it comes to le crunch.  angry angry angry
My guy you dont seem to understand the dynamics here. The guy had to be careful, else he would clearly have had treason charges on his hands. The powers to impeach lie squarely with the national assembly and they were not willing to act. The FEC was not sure of the state of yaradua's health hence not much could be done as turai sheilded everyone.

The truth is if  jonathan had been more desperate yaradua would have shown up earlier(with the same life support machine) , the hawks were working with the state of affairs and timing back home.

Have you asked why He decided to show up now? Is he healthier now? I think the answer is in the negative.

The point is the six-man delegation was a smooth plot by JOE to gather enough momentum for impeachment. The hawks read the script and did a counter attack. The drama continues ,

Jonathan still has some cards.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan To Remain In Charge While Yar'adua Recovers by naso2(m): 6:09pm On Feb 24, 2010
The hawks may be making all the noise now, but the truth remains that if Jonathan finds out that the PRESIDO is still on life support, he will have to gamble somethings and go for the kill. In a matter of days the coaches on both sides will show up and further gaming continues. we dey watch.

PoliticsRe: SSS Ransacks Jonathans Office by naso2(m): 5:30pm On Feb 24, 2010
The game is just beginning, as the days go both amps will re-strategize and relaunch on the strength of what they know of the opposition. In the end YARADUA'S camp will only have the advantage if he has risen from the life support machine else I see Jonathan gaining more strength.

One thing I am sure of is that even YARADUA/TURAI's camp do not want jonathan to entirely resign. They know they will loose altogether as that will put Yaradua under tremendous pressure  to show up or someone like David mark would be asked to step in. In that case they would have lost all the northern sympathy.

The hawks may be making all the noise now, but the truth remains that if Jonathan finds out that the PRESIDO is still on life support, he will have to gamble somethings and go for the kill. In a matter of days the coaches on both sides will show up and further gaming continues. we dey watch.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Is A Coward! by naso2(m): 2:13pm On Feb 24, 2010
guys make una kool down , what authority are we talking about? This is scheming at the national level. Before you stamp any kind of authority you have to properly assess the forces behind you. Jonathan is in one difficult situation where the north is solidly against him. Even the powers that be in his region (south south) are not really in support of him. The support he seems to have now is the media and faceless people on forums like this who in the comfort of anonymity talk tough.

Well I think the game might just be up for both Jonathan and Yaradua.
