How does the man escape? The man will wait till evening when d sun goes down and then take d door of d room constructed from magnifying glass. |
^^^Okay |
^^^ Okay. What happened to my 2 riddles? ![]() |
Tinkybabe: I'm with naturalwaves on it..this just goes on to confirm my observation.Dlex21 is one wicked guy..he framed the question to pose confusion..You must not be an examiner o.lol.Tinkybabe,me I'm innocent o.Dlex21 made me skip lunch and dinner cos I could not decipher his question on time. Are U in lagos? |
dlex21: i admire the effort u put in but sowee 2 disappoint u...thats not the answerHaaaaa......U did not ask d question well. We all thought u meant there are 22 terms in all and we should find d next 5 terms from where u stopped(*hits head on d table*).WTF!... But I will keep my solution anyway and test it on pple. ...Thanks for d compliment. Since I know what U meant now, then d answer is;9,3,5,4,1. This couldn't av posed any prob.I'm sure others tot d same thing as I did think....u will see what they will say wen they come back.U don enter am today. ![]() |
[quote author=dlex21 4) Find five consecutive numbers in the series that total 22: 7 3 9 6 4 1 3 7 9 3 5 4 1 7 6 5.....[/quote]The answer is 7,9,3,5,6. Here is d xplanation. To my solution ; 7,3,9,6,4,1,3,7,9,3,5,4,1,7,6,5 is d given sequence. On a closer look,I observed d ff; 1)There is either an increase or a decrease in d value of consecutive terms with d smallest being 1 and d highest being 6. 2)There are only 7 numbers in d whole sequence which are ; 1,3,4,5,6,7,9 Taking d first number in d series I.e 7 as d 1st term,u will observe that there is a decrease btw 7 and 3,an increase btw 3 and 9,a decrease btw 9 and 6 etc etc. I observed d variation and saw that this is d pattern in groups of 5s xcluding our 1st term I.e 7. Here is d pattern; D I D D D. 3,9,6,4,1 I I I D I. 3,7,9,3,5 D D I D D. 4,1,7,6,5 Where I =Increase and D= Decrease. Note: There is only ONE INCREASE in d first 5 terms and it starts from d 2nd no from left. For,d 2nd 5 terms,it was alternated so that there would be only ONE DECREASE wich starts from d 2nd no from back. For d 3rd 5 terms,we had 1 increase also but started from d 3rd term from d front. Now,to decide what pattern we will av for d 4th 5 terms,it will be 1 decrease(alternation) which will start from d 3rd no from d back. Therefore, our next pattern is; I I D I I Observe also that wen a 5 series ends with a decrease and d nxt starts with an increase,we shall add 2 to continue d nxt but wen a sequence ends with an increase and d nxt starts with a decrease,we shall add 1. Our new sequence starts with an increase and d 3rd sequence ends with a decrease,so ,our first unknown term =5+2 =7. For d 2nd term,d only possible increase after 7 is 9 so,our second unknown =9. Our nxt unknown is a decrease and that is d only decrease in d whole term.Anytime there is just a single decrease or increase,we chose d widest diff possible which is 6 .So,our third unknown term= 9-6= 3. An increase after a decrease in wich such increase is not d only one in d sequence is a +2. Therefore, our fourth term in d sequence = 3+2=5. D only possible term for our last increase and last term of d unknown is 6 since we av already used a 7 in d sequence. Therefore the answer for d nxt 5 terms is 7, 9, 3, 5, 6. Q.E.D |
^^^ Thank U Tinkybabe,I initially used exactly d same approach as urs where I first converted everything to minutes but got lost somewhere in d middle. It was d "TWICE AS MANY MINUTES PAST 10" part I couldn't decipher....was not sure wich of d times Dlex was referring to. |
dlex21: 3) How many minutes is it before 12 noon if nine minutes ago it was twice as many minutes past 10 am?Let d no of minutes after 10 o'clock = X Then,9 minutes ago,d time = X-9 By 12 noon, 'X' will be = 120 minutes Anytime before 12 noon = (120-X) Since d no of minutes b4 12 was 2wice as many minutes past 10 9 minutes ago, Therefore, 2(120-X)= (X-9) 240-2X= X-9 3X = 249 X = 249/3 X=83. This means that d time is about 83 minutes past 10 and 83 minutes past 10 is d same thing as 11:23 am(wen u add it up).Current time =11:23 am Amount of minutes it is b4 12pm= 12:00-11:23 =37 minutes. Ans = 37 minutes. Welldone Tinkybabe,U beat me to dis one....U won't believe I spent almost 2hrs on it(*covers face with palms*)...d question was a lil bit ambiguous to me initially....I will try and crack d sequence question now.I'm yet to understand d pattern. |
dlex21: 5) What is the longest word in the English language that can be produced from the following set of letters?? Letters may only be used once in the word produced...FEUMOPXCTW...COMPUTE seems to be d longest.Am I right? I got COMPUTE. |
dlex21: @tinky...this is specially 4 u1)888,890 2)God's child =12 Chuks= 36 IK =144. Solution to others on d way. |
dlex21: lure the dragon into the other roomThe dragon cannot be lured. |
Tinkybabe: Naturalwaves,the riddler! Tinkybabe,The Maths Aficionado! |

dlex21: Took some brain cracking thoughYeah,Expectedly.Welldone. |
dlex21: Witness: daughterYou are absolutely correct! Nice one. |
DICKtator: With these "gbaguans" of yours, I think He would come sooner than expected to save mankind before we are annihilated!!!! .....lmao |
walexydon: nope it didnt make it easier Okay,I will upload d solution later around evening time.Meanwhile U can try d murder mystery case. |
Here is a murder mystery case. Who can solve it? Here it is; One evening there was a murder in the home of a married couple, their son and daughter. One of these four people murdered one of the others. One of the members of the family witnessed the crime. The other one helped the murderer. These are the things we know for sure: 1. The witness and the one who helped the murderer were not of the same sex. 2. The oldest person and the witness were not of the same sex. 3. The youngest person and the victim were not of the same sex. 4. The one who helped the murderer was older than the victim. 5. The father was the oldest member of the family. 6. The murderer was not the youngest member of the family. Who was the murderer? Who was d helper? Who was d witness? Who was d victim? |
Tinkybabe: If this is not a typographical error,my answer is:No,the statement means that, blood must not come in contact with any of d surgeon's skin directly during operation.E.g When a surgeon reverses d gloves that's been used by another surgeon,d blood stained part will be all over his palms.U get? Mind U,it is also medically wrong for a surgeon to use d same surface of glove(that's already blood stained) that's been used by another surgeon on a patient. So,ow can they perform d surgery with just d 2 gloves available while at d same time avoiding these two situations of a sirgeon's palms being directly in contact with blood and 2)using d same blood stained surface on a patient? This should make it easier now. Goodluck! |
lastpage: Thank you for the compliment, the pleasure is mine.Exactly! U've said it all. |
Tinkybabe: It's okay, afterall I'm just as guilty..lol.I've been busy Thanks. There is a new brainteaser in d riddles section.U may want to try it. |
I see the picture is different things to different people.Someone even said 'chai' .It seems they(the kids) were born and bred in an Ethiopian village,so I won't say 'backwardness'with respect to their location.Afterall,Nigeria should be considered backward as a whole wen compared to other developed nations of d world. This is a great innovation and creativity backed with ingenuity.Watch out!!! These kids will go places if given d opportunity. |
@Dlex21 and Shollypopz,ur heads dey there. ![]() |
Tinkybabe: you beat me to it!Am sowei.Okay, end of maths teaser on this thread.Let's move to d riddles section.Shall we? Maybe I should create another thread for brain and maths teasers cos they are still a lil bit different from riddles.Where av u been tinkybabe? |
lastpage: (Contd)I couldn't quote all so I decided to quote d LASTPAGE but I must say thank U so much for d time U took to write d very informative and educative article of urs. |
Hello dlex, tinkybabe, valiantvaliant and everyone. Here is another brain teaser.Try and solve it. 3 surgeons decided to go for a camp and hired a guide for assistance. Over campfire , they met with an accident and the guide got seriously injured. The guide needs surgery(a minor one). The 3 surgeons decide to operate but they have only two medical gloves. To save the guide , all three surgeons are needed to operate on the guide, in sequence. How can this be done without any of them being exposed to the blood of any of the others? |
Valiantvaliant: 1. 888+88+8+8+8= 1000. Cracking no.2. . . , . . . .Yeah, very correct.I knew the first one would be very easy for my gurus but just like that very first maths teaser,u will be a lil bit suprised wen u finally get or see d solution to this second one u trying to crack.Goodluck! ![]() |
Access bank conducted aptitude tests for outgoing corp members who served with them early this year and I must say that even after passing d test,U av to find depositors to dosit at least 2 million naira collectively, otherwise,no job.My friend had to resolve into begging family members and his parents' friends before he could raise d fund.If fresh recruits were made to go through that, then, one could only imagine what permanent staffs go through. It is unfair to set unrealistic targets for people even at d detriment of their dignity and health. Why are Nigerian managers so perogative and embroiled in power oriented tendecies? They need to be put in order.May her gentle soul rest in peace(Amen). |
Tinkybabe: ^^omg!!!! ....I told U that U wouldn't believe the answer wen u see it.U may try these two1)How can U make eight (8s) I.e 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 equal 1,000 using addition only? 2)How can U make four (9s) I.e 9 9 9 9 equal 100 using any maths symbol/symbols of ur choice? |
RIP Neil.@ OP,U should av put some pics to make d report a complete one.
|
naturalwaves: @Tinkybaby and Valiantvaliant,since U both av turned it into maths teaser,here is my own. Ow can U combine four (8s) and 1 i.e 8 8 8 8 1 to give u 100 using only one maths symbol?In d absence of no solution to my maths teaser,here is d answer 188-88=100 |
Tinkybabe: Thanks..it was quite challenging tho. thanks (dancing azonto)my headache was worth it afterall..I've not been able to crack the 88881 bit..I've used virtually all the mathematical symbols/formula I know...pls narrow it down to a list of symbols or give a clue. The question is too wideOkay, the symbol U will use is one of these 3; +,-,*. U will be so suprised at the answer wen u see it.just keep on trying. I hope U know that U may also merge any of d numbers together as u wish I.e it is not compulsory that d numbers stand individually. |
