maverickdude:Awwww.....why didn't you see it?Check out the highlights on youtube now. It was a well taken, curved penalty, those types that usually almost enter through the side of the net in which the keepers usually have no chance. At crucial times like this, experienced penalty takers usually do not play parallel / flat penalties, they take it up. That was what Ballack said and that was what he usually does in his time , same thing with Zidane, he did it in the finals against Italy. Likewise, Ronaldo did not play it flat, he took it up but did not also try the maximum risk of roofing it. It was so cool. The shot was hot, it had power so that in case the keeper's hands touches it, it will still most likely go in. The shot had good height. The shot had placing; two goal keepers could not have stopped it. Moreover, the taker of the shot ( Ronaldo) was bold to have stepped forward to take it, he was also so cool and calm prior to taking the shot. Now, that is what is called A REAL MAN AND THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY HE IS THE BEST FOOTBALLER IN THE WHOLE WORLD......Stepping up whenever the need arises. |
oooduancalmdown:Alot of rubbish happened in that backline due to the absence of Sergio Ramos. Now, people will appreciate his worth. Last week, I remember telling my friend that Manchester United needs to buy quality defenders and not the kind of defenders they have now. 1 Sergio Ramos is better than the whole of the back line in Manchester united. |
heskeyw:That goal was counted bro. |
maverickdude:Yeah, you are right. He had contacts with the ball but it was after he had rammed into Vaquez stylishly with his right leg while also pushing him off with his laps ![]() |
maverickdude:What do you mean by soft? If the contact had happened anywhere on the pitch, that would be a free kick. Such contact in the penalty box is a penalty, that is so clear. You know I never made conclusions till I saw the highlights. My comments were not tilted towards Madrid previously. I thought it was Buffon that committed the foul and was red carded and that was why I said it must be a true penalty and then I was made to understand that Buffon's red card was not directly for the penalty incident but for arguing and shoving the referee and then I went to watch the highlight. Having watched the highlight, I see it was a penalty. What is your take on the quality of that penalty taken by Ronaldo? ![]() |
Charles4075:You are right. Plus, ISCO was never offside. |
anigbajumo:Can't you see his right leg behind Vaquez and the damage he did with it? The defender is so cunning. Unfortunately for him, the referee has sharp eyes. Clear penalty! |
LorDBolton:Lol, abi o. He is a bit inexperienced waiting for the ball but ddue to the way the ball was passed to him through a diagonal header, it was best he waits for the ball, not everyone have that technical ability and sense of awareness like Ronaldo to determine ball direction just after leaving the source. I think he still took the best decision. |
Chrismario:In fact, Isco was not even offside for his disallowed goal. He was way onside when Ronaldo released the shot he followed up. |
maverickdude:I just watched the highlights bro. That was not a 50/50. He had run into the Real guy before his legs came forward. It was a technical foul and only sick referees will fall for such trick. That is a clear penalty bro. Real player already created the space, shielded the on coming ball well and was just waiting to bury the ball before he was rammed into. Clear penalty! |
KevinDein:How was the referee inept? That was a clear penalty. As for Isco's goal that was disallowed, he was not even in an offside position when Ronaldo released the shot. |
So, I just watched the highlight, come on people, that is a clear penalty. The Madrid guy shielded the ball well and he was in a good position to bury the ball. The Juve defender ran into him from behind with the right of his body while attempting to clear the ball with his left foot in front. Clear penalty and the penalty was well taken by Ronaldo, very nice penalty! had power, had placing, had height. Two keepers could not have stopped such penalty . what a calm finish from Ronaldo. well deserved! |
charlesm91:Yeah bro. i just learnt he touched the referee aside arguing and that is a straight well deserved red card. |
Abatemtem:That is a straight red card offence according to FIFA rules. It will also come with further suspensions. thanks for the clarification sir. Red card well deserved. |
Varys:Did he just argue or pushed/ touch the referee as well? If he was red carded for a mere argument, that is harsh but if he laid a hand on the referee, that is a red card offence. Let me go see the highlights. I am home now. Brb Modified: I learnt he pushed the referee as well. That is a straight red card offence. Red card well deserved. As for the penalty, let me go look it up. |
maverickdude:Sending off Buffon for arguing is quite harsh I must say. I was actually following online updates . Talking about the penalty, what is your take on it? penalty or no penalty?? |
Varys:What do you mean by..... Should have allowed? Not seeing the match but I can tell it was a clear penalty. Otherwise, Buffon wouldn't be red carded. Question now is, was it a penalty or not?? Nothing like should have allowed in football. That's emotional sentiments. |
Ronaldo is such a brave dude for attempting the penalty. This is what real men do. Okocha once said that, he usually takes penalties for super eagles because most times, no one will be courageous enough to step up. He will be like, Taribo,u go play am? No, I no play. Oliseh you go play? No? So, he just had to do the playing all the time. By this, Ronaldo extends his records and becomes the first player ever to score in 11 consecutive matches at the champions league. No risks, no gain! |
So sad. What a wicked world. Those robbers will never know peace. She didn't keep fit as a police officer. |
Oluwasaeon:Good. That does not in anyway mean that one is better. Comparing them is even awkward. |
Oluwasaeon:The thread talks about Messi, you still found a way to tag Ronaldo along. I don't know why you guys that blindly thinks Messi is better than Ronaldo don't tend to use common sense and suffer from so much inferiority. Why didn't Messi score a "tap in" yesterday? In football, being at the right place at the right time is more important than moving about with the ball. My coach always says..... Let the ball do the running, that's why it can be played. All the so called tap ins Ronaldo was accused of took special techniques, he even places them and always check the run up, he has mastered the art of knowing where a ball is gonna be, that takes a certain level of genius. Even when Ronaldo scores with his head, fools will almost say he scored a head tap in . They say he is arrogant but Ibrahimovic is so arrogant yet, people like Ibra for his arrogance but hate Ronaldo for merely being proud of himself. These 3 seasons in the champions league, Ronaldo has lived up to all expectations and lifted his team when it mattered most. There is no basis for comparison. In the champs league, he has been more clinical, decisive and vital than the whole front line of the Barça team. Ronaldo is a personal inspiration and I usually say to myself that, if people can hate Ronaldo despite how good he is and despite the fact that he is the best footballer in the whole wide world, how muchmore me? It makes me worry less about haters. He scored one of the most executed bicycle kicks in history the last time and rather than just have fun and applaud him, these sore losers brought alot of unnecessary arguments. Ronaldo is currently on a class of his own. Messi isn't bad either. They are two classical players that play different styles. It depends on what appeals to you most. If an Artist made a player it would be Messi. If an Engineer designed a player, it would be Ronaldo. Messi is artistic, Ronaldo is a machine. Depends on your preference. As for me, I prefer the effective machine. |
lefulefu:Abi now. |
omoelerin1:This faceless forum is really giving little children the chance of insulting their elders. |
chukxie:Lol. I'm sure you clearly understand what my initial post was all about. There is a great difference between a terrible write-up and errors being found in a write-up. The OP blogs and it is a normal thing to get his write-ups checked by someone else. Would that be a crime? If we are to subject everyone's statement to a very thorough scrutiny, we will definitely see a couple of errors. Seeing errors in a write-up is so different from having a calamitous write-up. You may want to go back and read again. PS: I do not need to be checking what I write so much because I'm not writing officially and I'm not blogging. However, for someone who is into blogging, some little checks here and there wouldn't be a bad idea. As for your corrections, thank you. |
omoelerin1:What useless likes are you talking about. Humiliation? Permit me to laugh. So, because someone told me it is "talk more" instead of "talkless", that translates to humiliation in your head? You think everyone here is a kid like you. Didn't even think it would be moved to the front page. It was a barren thread when I commented. |
haconjy:Honestly, I'm not after the errors but just want him to get better. The write-up would have been far better if someone had gone through it as well. As you can see, someone corrected me too and I'm not impervious to learning like the OP. We're all here to learn. I'm pained because the topic seems very interesting. |
symbianDON:Lol. Thanks. That's why one needs someone to always proof read. You know we are used to saying "talkless of" instead of talk more and all. This does not change the fact that the write-up wasn't properly checked. What I read was terrible. |
Olusharp:Is this how you admit your errors? There is no short cut to success my dear. It takes efforts. |
