J2381:Poverty has really dealt with you. I'm so sorry. |
Mypeople2:Hahahaha. Unfortunately ,you cannot go past about 2 hours per time except if the child is in secondary school. Children could have a low attention span particularly when they've been having lessons all day. Since you have a good stamina, the best you can do is to have multiple clients so that you move from location to location. |
nonizy:You see. Nobody will ever charge 25k for a lesson at two visits a week here. You charged that because you are in festac. The average minimum is 40k,50k at 1 hour or 1hr .30 minutes per time o and there are no limits. As it stands, I have 3 of them : 1. Two visits a week at 40k (permanent) 2. Three visits a week at 100k (permanent) 3. Two visits a week at 80k (temporary) I even had another 3 visits a week @ 80k which I stopped due to stress. If you add a 6 figure salary to that, you will get a 300k+ o. Please, how many people in Nigeria have the probability of getting 300k+ or 400k+ a month ( If I didn't stop the last one)?? Last August, I prepared a girl for IGCSE maths and charged 120k a month but the dad paid me 190k instead. It was just a one month job. These are some of the other side jobs again that could get in. I'm just saying all these in order to encourage someone out there that, you can make the best out of whatever you do if you're hardworking and a master of what you do. Some. carpenters are multi millionaires ,even some tailors. Teaching has class and it is a very noble profession. |
wizkitvick:Exactly. I understand what you mean. When I was a teacher somewhere on the mainland in a government school, I even charged 1,500 naira per month and to pay that sef Na tug of war. I won't tell you a lie, the first thing is just to be around the happening axis in order to maximize the time . |
amokeme:Exactly my dear. All you need is one good job. You go get referrals tire. My colleague even pushed one of the ones I have to me because his hands were full and all his time is fixed. My friends zoom off immediately after school closes to start taking tutorials. Some visit two houses a day and they are fixed from Monday to Saturdays. Some, Monday to Sunday. A friend earns a total of 500k plus salary consistently every month. |
J2381:You do not believe me now and I don't like to paint a picture of me trying to make mouth. At least, through PM, I can privately screenshot some of my negotiation for you ( Although, I don't do that on phone because rule no 1 says..... Never negotiate with a client on phone but I should still have one or two. I do not negotiate on phone because you may charge something average and then get to the house and see that you have messed up merely looking at the garage.lol--it is not uncommon to see very sophisticated rides here o. The last time I saw Flavour around Chevron drive, he was driving something like a spider ).If you see a client one or one, you can do a quick assessment of their worth in order to raise your pay high. Having said that, I can tell you that, teaching is one of the best jobs if you know your onions and if you can try to get into one of these top notch schools on the island. If you can now teach mathematics which is in high demand, you can never go broke. How much do banks pay entry level staff? A range of 120-250k and they will take all your time. How much does PWC, KPMG and the likes pay? Most of these companies pay low and just give access to car loans and the rest (all na packaging). With teaching, you can get a banker's salary as a side job in a month if you are blessed. |
J2381:Hahahahahahaha. Bro, you're so funny o. A 6 figure pay is just anything from a 100k. What's the big deal about that? As for proofs, what proof do you want?? I know most people don't know how viable teaching is but you will be shocked subsequently. Oya, let's communicate via PM. After that, you should understand better. |
J2381:See you. I just left a lesson right now and I charge 5k an hour for this particular one at twice a week, one hour per time @ 40k and this is the lowest of all the jobs I have. I hate to sound proud but by the end of this month, I'm going to make 220k( supposed to be 300k but I stopped one because it is a bit far from me and makes me get home too late.) from lessons alone aside my salary which itself is a 6 digits figure. Lol. The plea I was referring to is from clients to me and not me to clients. If you must know, I'm on the island. |
J2381:What is so unrealistic about it. I am a teacher and taking 5k an hour is always after several pleas. If you are good, you can charge 10k an hour ,there are no limits. You guys will just be allowing someone to start making mouths. Lol |
Atlantia:This sums it all up that she didn't necessarily have to choose. She just decided she was going to shut off the home front due to reasons best known to her and that validates same point we have been making all these while. |
saouri:You're welcome! |

Talking about the irresponsibility part, she gave us some evidences to show she wasn't very much responsible as a mum. Except if you want to say that she cannot be totally irresponsible......maybe something like partially responsible .Talking about her decision, she wasn't incapacitated to make the necessary one. It is not something that would have required a very heavy wherewithal. She was obviously selfish and never cared because an academic position gives you the greatest liberty of all with respect to time. Lol@worst case scenario. |
Nice information. Put a comma after the word "Nigerians". Cc: saouri Modified: The "-" is not a bad idea too. |
Atlantia:Okay. Forgiven! ![]() Atlantia:I do not think they aren't responsible. What I meant was that, we do not have the necessary yardstick to say maybe or not they are responsible. There is no observable evidence that we can use to say that and if you are going by the fact that one of them is married, that doesn't mean such person is responsible. After all, their mum got married and wasn't responsible. Atlantia:Okay, she regrets. Cool. Atlantia:Okay, claps for her. Atlantia:She regretted not being able to balance the two. That's what you failed to see underneath. The home front and an academic career are not mutually exclusive. That's what I actually have a problem with. I have a problem with the fact that she couldn't strike a balance or a near balance. Atlantia:I didn't say she didn't contribute or anything like that. I said " I won't be surprised ". So, didn't make any assumptions. |
Atlantia:Failure is relative. By saying she is a failure, I was referring to the "home front". My opinion obviously cannot affect her because she is yet to see my opinion unless you send this link to her. So, that point of yours does not follow. Moreover, it is obvious she is depressed and has been affected by other opinions. Hence, the reasons for her rants and undertone regrets. Having said that, seems alot of you do not know what "independent " means. Even though she used the word "independent", the write up does not paint "independence ". It paints a picture of resentment towards one's family and that's the part you're turning a blind eye to and not analysing well. Moreover, how can you tell that she raised responsible children? Because they are in the UK? |
angels09:Abi o. Will even go and see the papers she has written. All these people that cannot do better thing without joining joining all in the name of "I must publish". Such a shame! |
Atlantia:There are lots of loopholes in this argument of yours. Marriage does not have to be an achievement, no one is saying that but she didn't try at all. She even used and dumped the husband. Lol. Moreover, you tell me, what are the working schedule of someone in the academia that can make them abandon the home for career? Education is one career area that offers the greatest liberty of time . Most people around me are educators. She failed woefully for not being able to juggle an educational career with a balanced family life. F9! And to think that she didn't make any groundbreaking discovery despite this is such a big shame. |
Xisnin:You have successfully twisted the word "independent " and anyhow one looks at it is based on semantics. As used here, it is not the positive kind of "independent ". Who doesn't want his/her child to be independent? But the independence she is referring to here is laced with alot of regrets. It is a pity you cannot read between the lines. |
Xisnin:I said "respect" because I was trying to be nice that they do not respect her emotions and all. Now, let me say the real thing..... The children do not give a damn about her and care less about her and that's why they do not attend to her chats. She does not even call, imagine saying she sends messages. What a shame! No matter how busy I am, I don't think a message can stay for one week unattended to on my phone irrespective of the source talkless of one from a family member and she tagged that as "independence ". Someone needs to flog this woman off her high horse. |
specter:Exactly! You get the picture. You can still balance academic career with the home front very well. You can do your research from any remote location including the home. It is obvious the woman never even spend her free time with the children. She never communicated well with them. I know people who are always busy but the children always know that "daddy will make it up to us when he is free" or "mummy will make up for all the busy times". In this woman's case, she never gave a damn. |
IamaNigerianGuy:She is cunning because she twisted the fact that her children do not care about her nor respect her to being independent. About the look thing, not everyone has the inner eyes. Having said that, what ground breaking achievement has she done despite dedicating her life to her career at the expense of the home? NONE because her name doesn't ring a bell and seems inconsequential. |
IamaNigerianGuy:Yeah. She is senseless, pound, cunning and very deceitful. Looking at her picture, you could tell the kind of individual she is. Such a shame! |
dominique:Is it about dancing about the thread or about pointing out the facts? You lot have a serious problem. See the direction you took it to. Her write up is laced with regrets and it is obvious she is so full of herself. Aside that, she is cunning and a foool for saying her children have become too independent. Does the illustration paint independence or lack of respect and disappointments?? If your children do not call you nor respond to your message in good time, it means they lack respect for you and care less about you not independent. So, Miss woman crusader, read well before you spill jargons next time. |
Nutase:Economy is not the determinant for asking such questions. There are varying reasons for such. I was once faced with such dilemma between banking and teaching in which I finally left my banking job. So, it is not about economy. There are other important things involved and people mostly ask such questions in order to get the opinion of other or for others to point out a comparative analysis of the two choices. |
Nutase:Keep on going in cycles. By the statement you made, you implied that lecturing is his passion and the private job is the money spinning one and that the person is on a dilemma because of the money involved in the latter which isn't his passion but you do not have any evidence to back it up and who says one's passion cannot pay higher than something that isn't too much of a passion?? There are so many loopholes in that statement of yours and the guy did well by pointing it out to you. |
Hkana:Yes please |
miracle4:Hahahahahahaha. No be only marketer. Everyone is a marketer to you. I don't even want to go into the chipset argument with you because you obviously know nothing about it except the fact that you follow the bandwagon to spill whatever comes your way. |
Youngsage:I cannot even substitute my infinix phone for a Samsung except one of the very high end ones. An average Samsung phone is dead fragile and battery always go so bad subsequently. 1 in every 3 users always have a cracked screen if not 2 or even 3/3. Does this make the brand bad? NO. You can see 10 Tecno phone user's without 1 having a cracked screen but never for Samsung. The new S8 was the worst phone when it was subjected to drop test. The glass cracks irrespective of where the impact is, I read that last week. Although, the Calcare centre is a rip off, one still has the chance to get phones fixed unlike Xiomi and the rest in which you have no option than to leave your phone once anything happens to your device . If it was Tecno or Infinjx that manufactured that exploding phone series that gets hot like a Burnfire before exploding, the internet would have roasted them alive but because it was from one of the song called big names, it was mild. Imagine what people will say here if someone had come on this platform to say his Tecno or Infinix exploded. You guys should cut these companies some slacks . They make efforts to get better and better year by year. They may not be too much of high end devices producing company, but they make functional phones to satisfy your everyday needs. |
Xyzee:Read my last post carefully. you're not an objective analyst. why don't you go and copy the commendations too and let's calculate the ratio. The positives far out ways the negatives and I even gave you a link you failed to check out. I argue with facts and not sentiments. There is no brand without complains and the fact that there are few complains does not mean that the brand is bad. Go and read my last post slowly and follow it up well. |
Xyzee:Infinix phones come with a one year warranty except if the fault was due to user's carelessness. Why didn't you return it. I buy gadgets and I can tell you that some gadgets come faulty. The particular one you got is a faulty one. Some Play station units come faulty too and if I peruse the internet, I can exhume alot of complains about Samsung phones and all. I'm sure you have people around you using same brand of Infinix without complains but you make it seem like it is a brand problem which isn't true. There may be one or two faulty devices but it isn't too rampant. Even on this thread, you can check that the complains are far lower than the commendations. Check out this link and see almost 700 complains from Samsung buyers. Would this now be enough to say that Samsung phones are rubbish based on your analysis?? www.consumeraffairs.com/cell_phones/samsung_cell_phones.html These complains are even worse than those of Infinix. Take your time to read through. |
Xyzee:Keep on exxagerating your experiences. If your phone fails to show name, it happens sometimes when the particular number is stored in the SIM, phone and maybe in your mail as well particularly if it is stored with slightly different names. You must have stored it as maybe "mummy" in the SIM and "sweet mummy" in the phone for example. When you have a call, it will not show any. Moreover, you bought a faulty device. A very faulty one. Infinix makes very good phones with good battery. I do not take my charger to work. My phone can stay 24 hours straight or more with normal usage and 12 hours straight with heavy usage. Don't buy second hand phones. Always go to recognised dealers and shops to get phones. Don't play smart by trying to save some few thousands and going for something sub standard. Your bad mouthing makes no sense at all. |

This is very unrealistic.
