and even if God didn't exist as I am sure you do not believe, it is a fact that we live in a universe filled with cycles and opposites all which keeps everything in balance.

You won't know joy without knowing pain. You know can't enjoy sunshine if there is no darkness. Same with good and evil. We feel it in us hence the issue of conscience.

Of course i enjoy technology such as this laptop i am using, my phone, airplane rides and cars..yes,I do...but I enjoy them knowing they not necessarily harmful to humanity's existence as a whole because I can opt out of using these things and STILL survive..i still have my sense of humanity and being.

Even they have their down sides..you've got hackers, trolls, and people who do not take into consideration that simply talking on your phone too long can lead to cancer. But these things are all preventable and again on a grand scale do not affect the existence of humanity.

Now,

Imagine something as a extreme as converting a human being into a cyborg like creatures who more than likely won't even have to use the technologies we do today because they will have built in abilities that are in-human. He just wants to implant our brains...imagine what the next sicko wants...

....perhaps telepathic abilities, built in weaponry, ability to run faster than a cheetah, x-ray vision; etc...believe you will always have the "pro-unnecessary upgrade" folks because where there is humanity..there will always be "caste systems" .

We can keep trying to attribute the harmless inventions to this and claim that what he have accomplished is proof this won't be harmful but trust me hunny, everything comes to an end..and sometimes the end is not sweet. This won't end well.

Any egotistical cyborg with endless ability could see a human as a weakling and try to take them out...and even if that doesn't happen, please believe in the distant future a human being won't have a niche to fill because they won't have certain abilities and thus will become irrelevant despite being on a planet that was designed FOR THEM. smh

Every technological invention has its down sides. The beauty of evolution is the progression of every idea towards near perfection with as little down side as scientifically possible. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to the moral questions such technological advancement poses. Stem cell and cloning comes to mind.

You shouldn't worry how long humans will remain on this planet. That's up to our future generations to worry about. Either they find a way to manufacture a new star, move to another habitable planet, or accept their fate when the Sun eventually dies out in a big baang of supernova.

It hasn't ended the AIDS epidemic and hunger but it has greatly eased transportation problems. I'm sure you were very grateful for travelling on an airplane whilst on your last holiday trip. Imagine doing that on a crusty wooden ship or even travelling on a horse drawn carriage.

The evolution of ideas can't be stopped neither can the advancement of technology. We owe the solution of human challenges to these two. Sometime in the near future, AIDS and hunger will be so old school.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has raised an alarm over a plot by agents of the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government to frustrate the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including a sinister plan to stop Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2015 elections.

The party warned that no presidential directive or executive order can stop the coming together of progressive forces in the country to democratically take power from the do-nothing PDP in 2015.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party alleged that there are plans to ensure that elections either did not hold in 2015 or that it will hold under curfew by instigating violence across the country.

Hearing in the case of graft preferred against the former Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and two others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), suffered setback yesterday due to the non-assigning of the case by the state Chief Judge, Justice Bolatito Badejoko.

The former trial judge, Justice Akintunde Boade, had fixed further hearing till Wednesday following his retirement from the bench earlier in the month.

However, the expectations of the accused persons and their followers for the commencement of trial by another judge was dashed as there was no judge to hear the case.

The EFCC had slammed an 11-count charge of conspiracy, contracts scam and other criminal acts to the tune of N25 billion on Alao-Akala, his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs now a Senator, Hosea Agboola and an Ibadan-based contractor, Mr. Olufemi Babalola of Pentagon Engineering Services.

The former governor, who had earlier arrived the court along with his hordes of supporters, later left the premises few minutes after 9a.m. when it became apparent that the trial would not go on.
Counsel to EFCC, Yinka Bolanle, said the case file was still with the chief judge, adding that a new trial judge was yet to be assigned to hear the case .

He confirmed the claim by the accused persons’ counsel that an interlocutory motion had been filed at the Court of Appeal by Alao-Akala and other accused, pointing out that the development would not stop the trial.

He explained: “When we got here this morning, we went to Court 2 where the case was supposed to be heard but the presiding judge, they said the case had not been assigned to him. You know, following the retirement of former trial judge, the case will be assigned to a new judge. Whenever this is done the trial will continue.”

Counsel to the senator, Olatunde Lawal, confirmed his client's appeal against the ruling by the former trial judge at the Court of Appeal and expressed the desire of the defence team to go ahead with the case any moment a new judge has been assigned to handle the case.
