hey pple, from what i gather, you have to specify the schools you want your gre sent to abi? what if you dont want it sent to any school yet? its valid for 5years isn't it? i just want to do it and get it outta the way so i dont have to start reading for it while i'm working. . . |
cbjonstage:then you need to upgrade the gyals you hang out with! |
@FBS it was really nice of you to help him , since its an electronic device, it'll be there, it need not be somewhere easily accessible(like in cell phones) but it'll be there. . . |
curiousman66:thats not enough for anyone to help you. . .there would be letters followed by numbers somewhere on the camera. . . |
Amigoz:awww. . .i didn't know you couldn't read properly , its says 'guys' |

Tmoni:@tmoni pele o, its things like this that convinced me that naija is the place for me. . .if you asked someone if 'everything was alright' the naija way, would you get into trouble? |
FBS:nope. . .its an inbuilt modem |
haven't read a book in a while, i mostly read articles. . . |
diggler:guy, this okwute that u hv been saying up and down the place, what is it? @office they've carried the plans for the new transformer to HQ for approval and oga has gone to B. Kebbi for regional heads' meeting or something of that sort, so there's no work going on. . .everybody here seems to think i'd want to stay on here if given the chance, na so e easy reach? |
yep i hv, once. . .for like 2mins before i realised what i was doing. . . i was proud of myself! ![]() it was when i realised that we couldn't continue doing the whole break-up and get back together biz. . .i was surprised the tears actually came out o @H202 you sef why you go dey ask question wey you no answer? which kain person you be? |
blackweaver:also, formatting wont solve the problem you're discussing, it seems to me like a bios problem, but do as blackweaver says you should and maybe someone will be able to help you. . . |
ehen, thats what i'm talking about. . .that mhismole is the kind of girl i like to see next to me when i wake up, if only she wasn't jailbait. . .if only. . . |
i'm not tired. . . |
okay, i got back from ilorin yesterday and i was welcome back with a phone call, someone wanting me to do some work. . . one of the disadvantages of living and working in the same place, at 9pm someone called me up and gave me some civil works drawings to prepare, i regretted not taking autocad seriously, i sha jomo'ed the drawings and now i've been drafted to help them plan for the installation of the new transformer, i'm soooo over this being diligent thing, all my fellow batch A, corp members are nowhere to be found, and i'm here helping them prepare for stuff i wont be around to witness. Its not even electrical engineering per se, and they are just using me, the only reason i'm doing it is cos i like the guy in charge and i know he's going to go far, so i figure when he becomes a GM or something, we'll be in tight. . .lol the engineer i'm working with is really good at his job, and he expects me to know so much, how do you guys cope with stuff like that? 3 more days to go and i'm outta this place. . .yippee |
tkb417:they should try appointing a french graduate as minister for finance now. . .or an engineer as minister for health. . .(i swear if that happens i'm abandoning my nigerian passport!). . .also when the contracts are awarded by non-engineers, its only natural that quality of work takes a backseat. i must say that there a a lot of people in PHCN that have no business being there but to say that is why the nigerian power sector is not functioning is a blatant lie, even ghana told us what our problem is, we're mix politics and power(electrical) together. . . AjanleKoko:lol. . .deja vu,during my I.T. i asked the current CEO of TCN(then he was head system operations) what he though i should do as a PG and he said energy economics! the guy has read a lot of reports, that doesn't make him a professional, i know this is simplifying it drastically, but all energy economics is about is basically the how to get the maximum value for your money in the power system, but that pre-supposes that the said power system is actually functioning. . .you should see some of the gaffes this guy makes on even on TV, but then since in naija everybody but the engineers is qualified to talk about the sector(i remember achike udenwa saying 6000MW will give industries 24/7 electricity) i guess anything goes. . . having technical advisers will only work if they're willing to contradict you(which would require you listening to them in the first place, which sadly is not what obtains here) the only way i would believe anything i hear on TV about the power sector is if it's said by someone on the field not all these desk warriors(notice how it was only politicians and political appointees that were mouthing off about 6000MW?) not ONE technical person in PHCN believed the 6000MW dream and the sad thing is that nigerians fell for it hook, line and sinker. |
debosky:i'm mega-watt crazy thats the thing(. . .remember this is naija and we're talking about civil servants here, they wont contradict oga. . .the former MD of PHCN told them<minister and yar' adua> that 6000 didn't make sense and he was retired). . .they aren't engineers so they dont understand the fundamentals sha. . .there are far too many people in positions of authority in the power sector that dont know the first thing about power and so when they see all the money available. . . this is what runs through the average PHCN staff's head wrt the geniuses we always end up getting saddled with. . . if you speak up against them, they'll say you're a saboteur(the ceo of one of the generation companies said this verbatim to some of us corpers), and its not even as if they pay you well sef so you dont have a nest egg for when they fire you, and besides they are politicians, they'll soon leave and hopefully the next ones will be better. by the way, in nigeria we've never had an engineer of any sort(not just electrical o!) as minister of power, we've had lawyers, french graduates, economists as minister but no engineers. and another thing, which other ministry can boast of having two past ministers as governors? i mean, we're just generous like that, we provided the funds for agagu and imoke to run for office, who says we aren't doing anything in nigeria? @thread i'm in jebba dam now, and the place fine small o, but their security isn't anything to write home about, we should thank God we dont have homegrown terrorists. . . |
na wa o. . .all these youngins that jst came to make trouble. . . @semid off-topic: i asked you something on your wall in NVS did u see it? |
ibkaye:i like this one. . . @unitee they are turning you into a local champion, come with me, i'll take you international ![]() |
AjanleKoko:i think i have a friend serving there, might hit the place when i return to lagos debosky:e no easy reach. . .he doesn't need to pull any strings, i dont even think his house is on any of the feeders sef. . .i'll check ![]() since you're an engineer i'll explain it to you. . .the prob is our minister doesn't know what he's doing. in minna the problem is distribution, they cant handle all the power we can give them, in abuja, the problem is transmission, the 330kV transformers are overloaded so even though they can distribute enough power for all of abuja, they dont have enough 330kV capacity to receive it. those are the two areas i'm familiar with but i can assure you the problem is the same all over nigeria, and meanwhile our dearest economist of a minister has been shouting generation all over the country, leading the poor nigerians to believe that an increase in generation will solve their problems. . .to be fair to him sha, it seems he has realised his mistake but i still feel an economist has no business being minister of power. even if 6000MW appeared today, light in nigeria wouldn't improve as much as people think it will. @thread i'm off to jebba dam tomorrow, want to see what they have been making noise about (people in jabba dam say theirs is finer that ours. . .ta!) if you're in abuja or nassarawa buckle up, i just heard them reduce your allocation. . .so it means light bulbs are going to start going off(its not our fault o, we're generating 67% of our capacity now) its prolly all those yeye steam stations. |
@ajanlekoko you know land will the most important thing in your calculations right? the amount of land that'd be required for such a proect'd make it unattractive in lagos, the problem starts with you calling it a solar farm. . .that means you'll want to gather all the solar power in one place and then transmit it right?. . .finding enough land in lagos'll be hell. . .not too talk of the technology. . .plus if your total load is more than 2MW you'll have to get a licence from the NERC for captive generation. . . |
i'm not wondering how someone's exams were. . . |
dynna:try system restore. . .anyother way would be too complicated for you to handle. . .i think |
Pweety4me:@saga abeg dont answer that question. . .we cant be encouraging such behaviour |
i aint bored |
debosky:w.r.t. the bolded, it does? debosky stop trying to be poetic jo. . .fact is men get tired of sex at some point in time, and if thats the only(or should i say major?) thing that you have going for you, when your 'assets' start to obey the law of gravity, you'll be on a long thing!(or should i say drooped thing. . .lol) |
its almost over, yipeeee i'm passing out in two weeks and now i've become hot sturvs, everybody either wants to teach me something or wants me to teach them something. . .i've decided not to join all my friends in the first-to-msc/phd race, so that means i have to get a job, not really looking forward to it. but for me its the NPS(nigerian power sector) or bust! we're installing a new 60MVA transformer at minna TS funny thing is distribution in minna isn't ready for it, so it'll result in excess capacity, you've got to love nigeria! |

Mekusxyz:@mekus i agree wholeheartedly with you. . . we really need to stop this nonsense. . . |

I wonder who is advising these big shots. At least if the minister is unaware of the actual issues what are the technical advisers in PHCN or the ministry doing to guide him? Hope he sees road quickly sha.
