Still asking: anyone in Wright State University here? Can't believe there's nobody here going to that sch despite the high funding it has plus the fact that there are many Nigerians there! Okay; anyone who knows anyone (Nigerian) in Wright State University here? |
Pls, is/was anybody a student of Wright State University here? Got some important questions to ask. |
dragonking3:No, they are not. People fight everywhere. They have not broken any law. |
donbrowser:He has denied it. Can you now show us a link to where he said it? |
Guys, is JAMB direct entry form out? |
teee2:I knew 'bout 2013, just wanted to know the sec schools the 2015 guys graduated from. Thanks for producing the link. Loyola still remains the best school in Nigeria. |
Basic123:Can you provide a link to where the list of the 2015 best 3 WASSCE candidates is written? |

This thread gets more interesting daily. There's always a new drama everyday. Thanks to those who specialize in educating us here, those who specialize in entertaining us here, and those who combine both. |
coachmd:They are so many. Just try google and you'd be inundated by the plethora of schools that don't requires a submission of test scores. It is highly advisable, however, that you take the TOEFL even if your school doesn't formally require it. |
coachmd:It's very easy. There are over 400 schools in the US that won't ask you for any test (TOEFL, SAT, etc). Just go to the website of the school you're interested in and click on the ''international student application procedure/requirement'' section. All they require is your official high school transcript, while others may request for a high school diploma or application fees in addition to your high school transcript, if you've completed high school. If you ever get confused, just email the admissions office, or you may do that prior to starting your application. Please, be advised, however, that most schools that don't ask for test scores end up giving little or no scholarships at all. So, be ready to spend money. |

You guys are talking about transfers, but I don't really understand. Can someone pls make it clearer? Let's consider this scenario. If you gained admission into the University of Notre Dame, for example; HOW and WHEN can you transfer your admission to Xavier University? Do you have to get to the US before requesting that your admission be transferred to Xavier University or can you do it all the way from Nigerian before even getting a visa at all? And some people are saying you must have been admitted to Xavier before you can transfer there. If you must have been admitted already, why would you need a transfer anymore? How about in a situation where Xavier needs an SAT but University of Notredame doesn't, would Xavier be able to accept your transfer since you didn't take that exam to get into Notredame. In fact, are you guys talking about transfers for graduates or undergraduates? I need someone to expatiate on this whole transfer thing, please. |

I so much love this thread. |
Congratulations, man! Keep soaring higher and higher. You shall continue to record great achievements IJN. Your family shall continue to be proud of you. This is a great motivating story for those who come from humble backgrounds. You can be what you wanna be. That your parents are poor and you can't afford a three-square meal doesn't mean you won't get to the top. And to those who have attempted JAMB/WASSCE several times, never give up. You will make it. Don't indulge in malpractices as you may be tempted to. Just keep working hard and never relent on your prayers. In God's time, mighty success will come your way. |
dramaka:Thank you, brother. In order not to derail this thread, the last paragraph of my email has a suggestion. We may end this Nairaland convo here. |
dramaka:Replied you too. |
Wait o, it seems some higher powers are deleting comments on this thread. Someone messaged me with the words, ''PM me'', and I'm trying to reply to the person but I can't even see the message anymore *confused*. Why do people do these things nah? |
LagosismyHome:Thank you. Actually they are not being fussy. I wrote it in my post that the director actually resorted to a phone call after several failed attempts of a Skype convo. I think he just has a personal interest in having a Skype call with me, 'cos I figure out that something probably struck in in my app essays and frequent emails. And for him to have said he still wanted to have a Skype convo with me after the phone call, I'm personally elated. There are Cafes in Naija but I think those ones are worse, cos the last time I visited a cafe, I couldn't even watch a YouTube video due to poor network, something I do conveniently at home. |
femi321:Thanks, I'm the farthest thing from Lagos now. I hope the Swift modem finds a way to fall into my laps. |
femi321:Thanks. My modem can use any network, though I use it with an MTN sim. Is that the same thing as Smile modem, cos I have no idea what that means? And MTN has the best network in my location, and I have no access to wifi. I'd love to PM you but Nairaland says I cannot PM two people. I just sent a PM to someone now. You may PM me, or I do that tomorrow. I'm not sure about weekends yet, but we can always fix any other time that suits you, though I wouldn't want this to be long. |
dramaka:Thanks. From this your post I can figure out that the likely problem is my network. I use/used MTN, in fact I bought 1 gigabyte for that particular purpose. Unfortunately, I don't know what spectranet, Smile and the likes mean. I'm not really internet-savvy. Also, I don't reside in a place where there is wifi at all. So, I have only been using MTN which works well for Skype calls within Nigeria, worked partially from Nigeria to Cyprus. So, I'm thinking there is a particular reason it didn't work at all to call the US. I couldn't call the director with my Skype, I could only answer his own call. And I could only hear his voice without seeing him. But he could neither hear nor see me. I have PMd you anyway, we may exchange skype addresses and fix an appointment from there. I haven't scheduled a call with anyone else, but even if I have, testing it with more people shouldn't cause any harm. It will only make me more assured that it now works well, and I will even tell the director that I have used the Skype to call MANY people in the US. I've sent you a PM. |
MrsAnyanwu:Then look towards countries like Cyprus, Ukraine, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Ghana, etc. |
MrsAnyanwu:Sorry, this is not the best section to post this question, go to the US Students visa thread. What country abroad are we looking at, anyway? |
Hey, people; I have a problem and I need someone's help here. I got admitted into a school in the US, but I was required to have a Skype interview as a part of the admission processes in order to win a book scholarship worth $500 per semester. I booked the appointment, but the school did not honour it the first time, but we fixed another day and time and they honoured it this time. Now, here's the problem. At the time of the interview, immediately I answered the Skype call from the director, I realised that I could hear him very well but couldn't see him at all. On the other hand, he could neither hear nor see me. He called repeatedly, the same situation. I tried to call him but it didn't go through. He was disappointed, so he asked me a question by typing it out which read, ''Have you ever used this Skype to speak with someone in the US before now?'' I said no. He then said it is possible that there are some requirements that cover those using Skype in some countries which I might have not done. He also said he was getting a message that ''this person can only receive IM''. So, after several attempts which proved abortive, he resorted to calling me on phone. I gave him my number and we spoke for over 5 minutes. But the thing is that he said he still wanted to speak with me on Skype. So, I told him that my brother studied IT and would be coming back soon so he would check to rectify whatever problem the skype had. And he said he was looking forward to it. Immediately I ended the call, I made a Skype call to someone in Cyprus, and it worked fine, except for the fact that the visuals were shaking and the voice was breaking. And the person said the fault was from my Skype, cos he had never experience any difficulty using his Skype before. And whenever I use the Skype to call people within Nigeria, it always works fine. So, what I did now was to upgrade the Skype app, hoping that it would solve the problem. My bro couldn't do anything. I now want to call the US director and fix another appointment. However, I really would want to test the Skype with someone in the US first, to confirm that it is working very well with those in the US before calling the director. I can't afford to call him now, and experience the same problem. I must assure him that I have successfully solved the problem before fixing another appointment. So, I need someone in the US that I can call with my Skype and be sure that it is working well before I call the director. The director is in Ohio, so if anyone is in Ohio, that would be be perfectly fine. But anywhere in the US would not be bad either. Pls, if you are in the US and you don't mind a Skype video call with me, kindly PM me or ask me to PM you to exchange skype addresses and fix an appointment. Please, kindly understand that the main essence of this is to confirm whether my Skype can now work with the US before I fix an appointment with my school for another Skype call, so no strings attached. So, pls if you are in the US, kindly help. And pls, if you have an idea on what problem my Skype may be having, pls kindly suggest solutions. But I still need to video call someone in the US to confirm that it's now working fine. Hope there's someone who can help me. Thanks. |
ezechinwa2:I don't know where you people get these types of information. Who on earth told you that Covenant University students pay over a million per semester? You just hear rumour and spread it without any verification. Students pay 790K at Covenant and that includes their accommodation. Don't forget that electricity is stable there, there is wifi everywhere on campus, and you have access to good water easily. So, you think these amenities are cheap to manage? Or you think the government is there to subsidize? And concerning America, if you are not on a full scholarship, 2 million naira is not even enough on tuition alone, before you talk about accommodation. What students pay in Covenant is not up to ten percent of what students in America pay on tuition alone, let alone accommodation which costs about 15,000 dollars. BTW, how many chemical students in America have you met; how many of them can manufacture olive oil? |
LastMumu:I initially mistook u for the poster considering how you rushed to his defense, but I eventually realised that u aren't the one. But believe me when I tell you that no where in Covenant looks as dirty as this. You need to visit the sch and see for urself. |
LastMumu:But this your sch get as e be o. Can't believe that's a tertiary institution! I think u need to visit Covenant University, so at least u know that not every sch has littered environment like this! |
