I don't know what to say about this fellow Momodu. I best say nothing. I did not know how much I hated this Ovation thing till one day they tried to take a picture of me in Magodo and I almost cracked the guy's head in.

Sometimes people wonder why I have no respect for such men and their philosophies. I just worry about the pedestal on which a lot of Nigerians place these people. It is really sad.

the vehicles were purchased with state money. They were earlier retrieved by the state, but Oshiomhole thought better.

@fuke

you had some sort of belief in Oshiomhole? I'm sorry.

This kind of madness is going on and some imps will want to differentiate Sports Utility Vehicle from Utility Vehicle.

I've made up my mind to watch Oshiomhole for at least a year to really rope himself in.
Politics › Re: @ Jarus! How About The Unilateral Printing Of The N420 B by nex(m): 12:08pm On Sep 03, 2009
At least if someone says it wasn't physically printed, I can still understand that.

Even Zimbabwe did not just decide to start printing currency notes to mess their economy up. It was because the President didn't rejected the use of foreign currencies. So even before Zimbabwe started printing currency notes all over the place, the knew the consequences yet had no choice.

We are not in that position at all so why do it?

The N420 billion was not printed. Even if Sanusi says so himself, he's lying.

Politics › Re: AIT Television On The Brink Of Crumbling by nex(m): 10:53am On Sep 03, 2009
There's just one last scam that Raymond can pull with AIT before it finally folds up. The man is shameless and you will all witness it with your very eyes.

Raymond has worked so hard to win the rights to the under 17 world cup meanwhile he has neither the personnel, mobilization nor the skills to cover that event. All he has are those HD OB vans he spent his last cash on. When the competition is about to begin, this man will blackmail the Federa Government to pay him some large amount of money or else he may not be able to air the event.

Surely some people thing this gimmick is too lowly for him, but when you open your eyes to know how many of his staff he has killed, how much evidence or lack thereof which the man has burnt down with his own firm and also that he was only recently a national beggar, you will begin to understand that nothing is beneath this man.

And why in the name of Osun did he force all of his staff to change their names?

If Kenny and D1 who were basically the worst set of people in broadcasting back then could run away from AIT, then it is clear that it is worse than the worst. Abysmal!
Politics › Re: @ Jarus! How About The Unilateral Printing Of The N420 B by nex(m): 10:28am On Sep 03, 2009
Fear not. Sanusi did no such thing. He just communicated with the Lawmakers at the level which their mental capacity can operate.

To even print such quantity of cash out of the blue would take months of preparation and ordering of materials.

It's like when these Lawmakers would ask Soludo of the exact figure of Nigeria's savings and rather than give them details of the Federation Account and he would point the dunces to the Foreign Reserves and they would get off his back.

By the way, injection of funds does not have to be in Naira. So why print Naira with whatever currency was at hand. Note also that the Naira is literally not worth the paper It's printed on. Except for the N1000 note which costs about N800 to print. A single N20 note costs about N750 ($5) to print so to inject newly printed N420 billion on the banks, you have to add the cost of printing the cash too which should bring everything to about N820 billion assuming only N1000 notes were printed.

Again, if N1000 notes worth N420 billion are printed, then that means we'd have about 420,000,000 new notes of the N1000 denomination all over the place especially in the 5 banks. Are you seeing these new notes anywhere?

Please, let's slow our roles. Sanusi only said what was digestible by the gray matter of most of these lawmakers. If not, they will just make sure everything remains at a standstill.

Corporations cannot afford to make such stupid utterances about their major customers in such hard times. Sony is among the corporations that have made inexplicable losses this year. Okay, Credit Crunch, were those figures not too out of hand? Just looking around my room, there are two old playstaton 2 consoles lying around the corner.

Nigeria delivers sales grossing billions of dollars annually for the Sony Corporation. From the sales of Playstations, Sony Ericsson Phones, DVD Players, Laptop Computers, PDP & LCD televisions, Media Storage Devices and Home Theatre Systems. The Nigerian Television Authority just signed a contract with a subsidiary or franchise of the Sony Corporation to upgrade Outside Broadcasting Vans from Standard Definition to High Definition for hundreds of millions of Dollars.

You don't treat one of your biggest customers this way. We will not accept this. The most annoying part is that it was absolutely unnecessary mentioning Nigeria in the AD. There was no point at all. Yet this is something that passed so many desks before approval so there's no doubt of their intent to send out this unwarranted insult to their bread winner. O, they will pay.

We pay the piper and the tune from that Sony advert right now is not sounding very good.

CNN was not spared, I don't know why Sony wants to pick on the wrong country. This is the idiocy that takes place when focused Japanese businessmen delegated work to these serial dunces from the USA. They will not crash their economy and their companies alone, they want to take all the major economies and corporations with them. Moronic yankees. forwarded to www.fmic.gov.ng  instantly. Let's see whether stupidity pays.
Poems For Review › Farewell Las Gidi. by nex(op): 6:57am On Sep 03, 2009
Bright lights, highrise, everything that makes this life
you're so full of life, more beautiful than even I can account
You got your bad side, but your beauty blinds my eye
your streets of no sleep, that cultural jam

you bid me explore every bit of you, and each part I studied
wanted to lurk around your islands, and you never kept me at bay
showed me how to play around your centre without going too deep
taught me to have fun on the mainland without getting carried away

Thought I'd always awake to mornings with you by my side
cuddle up each other watching that orange September sunrise
then came the cranes, built those towering luxury estates
now my view is a slab of concrete, its shadow where once you lay.

You're a woman o' class you belong with your own kind
a society chick, always Zizi Cardow and Mon Ami clad
my finance thinned too light to keep your romance
sorry I must forfeit you to some Alhaji or Otunba

Farewell Las Gidi, I sure will miss you so
so long my rough cut beauty, you’re all I've ever known.

And I know you love me, you're crazy 'bout my style
you feel my rhyme, that blend of thug and calm
you love my voice vibing o’er your phone lines
still you never throw back so I put a hold on all that

Tell me the craziest city, I'll show you Las Gidi
ask me a world wonder, I'll take you where I've been.
Your soft ocean breeze, the tune across your waves,
cool for that soul ease, but 937 was what had me hooked.

Lebanese, Chinese, Indian and European, been with so many men,
so you treat me like dirt, yet I love you more than all them
captured me with your charm, entangled in your web
where once was love, had to keep hope in its stead

Ibo, Fulani, Yoruba and Tiv, all did your doorbell ring
in a of mix of tension, carefree, will and uncertainty
they all tried and none you ever could denied his dream
not one ever did ask and you thought to mention me.

Farewell Las Gidi, I’ve made my mind to leave
goodbye my queen, I served with all the steel of me.

Not that I didn't want you that bad, not that I didn't try
you know my hustle is art, can't fit in a nine-to-five
others peddled their smith to banks, me well, I write
Not that I couldn't explain, but you'd never understand.

sometimes you made me money, most times you got me broke
showed me all I never seen before; life like I never knew it was
but by and by the years have crept and my heart chose not to know
yet I have to prove all them critics wrong, I should move on.

I'd love my kids at your bosom, wish I'd be the one to wife thee
imagine the cute little rug rats street-smart e'en as babies
still I beg you let me go, where I lead you won't follow
my house could never be your home, your story's not my own.

been around the world, through the motherland and beyond
seen lifestyles, seen peoples and cultures home and abroad
just to be with you, I put myself through it all
lo, it's saddens my soul to see your heart is mine no more

Farewell Las Gidi, our final words are spoke, I have to go
Take care my Lagos sisi, wish you the best of luck.

Got me VIP passes to the best clubs and coolest gigs
then the money waxed low, all your friends turned foes
and you started to notice my distance from my goals
so you traded what you had for what you needed the most

Used to show me the streets, grew me up in your own way
read me your book o' tricks, even gave me my best lay
now I’d turned a pest suddenly where I'd been a special guest
my warm reception replaced with the look of " what you want?"

The nights got later, the cars flashier, only highest bidder
The Naira gave to dollars, then cheques and bank drafts
Slowly your veil uncovers and you true colours become
when you cried it flooded, when you smiled it burned

your bustle was my warmth, your struggle my war
we dreamed and rarely did so lots is forever left untouched
much is left to say but when you call still I'm so unsure
Au revoir m’amour, I’ve done all that I could

Maybe someday when we're older, we'll find each other
perhaps when you're through with your many lovers
I guess you’d be free to make out some time
for now I've packed all my worries in my hiking bag

Farewell Las Gidi, I've loved you with all my heart
but I hate that I love you even more than my hometown.

@drrionelli

The kind of anthology I'd want my poems in is something that I hope would be used in high schools made in decades to come. The very best of the best. I don't believe just myself and hansibone can do it. We need between 10 - 20 contributor of works. Some may submit 1, some may submit 5, but it should be the very best poetry any young group of Nigerians has to offer for a while to come.

It's beyond two guys putting together a couple of applauded poems. We need more poets.

@hansibone

"Farewell Las Gidi" is now officially posted.

@all

Thanks people, I do my best. Pidgin English is my lingua franca, but funny enough, you wouldn't believe i started speaking pidgin english at about age 16. By my tenth anniversary of speaking pidgin  though, I realised that it was a more carefully structured language than we care to take notice of. That was when I began my study of this language and it has been a very wonderful experience.

Ehen, no shaking my people, na my internet bad so man pickin no be say I bone Nairaland O!

Lesson to be continued after a thorough revision of my previous posts. Meanwhile I still have something I posted in pidgin and I'm reading something else by a friend. I'll post dem if the interlude gets too long.

Romance › Re: The Most Romantic Thing Your Partner Has Told You? by nex(m): 3:03am On Sep 03, 2009
For me, she never quite said anything romantic. She sang it. 'twas on my birthday this year and she wrote me a special birthday song which she sang to me first thing in the morning went something like happy brithday to you, I've always loved you. happy birthday my darling,

Can't recall how it went though, but unfortunately, this was 6 years after we'd broken up. I know how hard it must have been for her to compose that and how much courage she must have put in to sing it and how much she must still love me and know I still love her to sing that. That's why I believe besides just being the most romantic thing so far, it may be the most romantic thing ever. I miss Spindy like crazy.

Well, i dunno what to say. Just read some statistics earlier on developmental psychology and they showed that 94% of Nigerians that didn't have sex before age 16 never got married. You didn't even have a relationship before age 16. Now that is serious. Hope you connect sometime soon. By the way, I know the topic's old. I don't know where anyone dug it up from, but as long as it's there, gotta comment.

Killer Beans is beans stolen from Government planting reserves. Seeds meant for planting are preserved with very poisonous chemicals which are supposed to kill bugs, insects and birds that attempt to consume them before, during and after planting.

When these seeds are stolen and sold to the public, if consumed by humans in adequate, quantity, dead will be the result.

I knew a guy in Lagos working on this 2 years ago and he sent it to some research institute in the USA for a competition. Beware of the kind of information you give out all in the name of competition.

Back to this technology, it can only produce very little electricity. It can't take away powerlines. Managing to produce only 12 volts will not get us very far. But It's something though.
Politics › Re: Obasanjo Feeds Daniel In A ''Ritualistic'' Manner by nex(m): 9:57pm On Sep 02, 2009
What is so ritualistic about this?

When I was a kid, my dad used to split meat in his plate and offer to his little kids but not those who were independent of him. Though as the kids got older, in their mid teens and more independent, they told him thanks. Gradually he stopped.

It's just a symbolic gesture by which the gives expresses "you're still my little one and no matter what, I'll still take care of you", the receiver accepts to mean "I'm still your boy and no matter what I do out in the world, I can still count on your help". However, if the receiver does not accept or says thanks without taking it would mean "sorry old man, I'm a big boy now, I can fend for myself". If the receiver should laugh at the giver or be offended by the gesture, then it means "go to hell old man, I don't need you. I run things now. I'm bigger than you right now".

So I don't see anything ritualistic about it.

By the way, who gets all these stuff. I have a video of OBJ drinking garri and Rochas Okorocha sitting beside him.
