It's not surprising a lot of folks here say POI won the debate. We adore arrogance and applaud disrespect. It was difficult listening to the man cos most of his points were outrightly disjointed. Nothing eloquent about his speech, and made no effort to market himself.

You ask him about the Civil service, he starts talking about security vote; oya state police, he runs to a supposedly failed career.
Made absolutely no remarks or statements with regards to plans and checks for his assumption as Governor.
It's shocking to see he's a pastor.
Nigeria!! yet again we tear up the brainiacs and intellectuals and wonder why fuel is 167.

I pity Edo, Obaseki wins, violence will erupt
POI wins, suffering and thuggery roll back with speed..
Issues.
Edo people are not interest in eloquence, even though Iyamu was more eloquent .

Eloquence is not about blowing grammar and being jittery like Obaseki.

According to wikipedia,

Eloquence (from French eloquence from Latin eloquentia) is fluent, forcible, elegant or persuasive speaking. It is primarily the power of expressing strong emotions in striking and appropriate language, thereby producing conviction or persuasion.

You must be a PDP apologist, can you make better points than this::

''Iyamu said something about the school of midwifery being closed for two - three years now and inadequate healthcare personnel in the state. Obaseki could not say anything reasonable instead he was talking Uniben teaching hospital controlled by FG and Telemedicine.

We are talking about health care that needs to be accessible to all, you are saying telemeidicine.

Iyamu said the state lost money in an agriculture scheme, Obaseki agreed and blamed herdsmen and Covid 19 for that.

About human trafficking, Obaseki blamed previous administrations for not doing enough while Iyamu said he will enforce the laws prohibiting Human trafficking and stop the rural -urban drift.

Obaseki was asked about his academic qualifications instead he was being clever by saying he graduated from the University but that was never the question, Iyamu had to correct him because obaseki was giving people lots of false impression. Iyamu asked how he was able to present 3 o'level credits to gain admission and if he claims he has A'levels why hasn't he presented them.

This is a debate like i said and not a manifesto talk, it was right for Iyamu not to spare obaseki by not allowing him mislead the public because it was obvious obaseki was just doing that.

Obaseki said he worked to bring Oshiomole into power and Oshiomole was staying in Lagos Iyamu again had to remind him that he only contributed 100k to the election and that the first time Obaseki would vote in Edo state was in 2016.

Obaseki was just speaking unnecessary grammar and brought thugs as the audience to cheer him up.''

People are funny sha.

This is a debate not a manifesto talk. There's nothing bad in Iyamu attacking Obaseki's points if he finds them untrue or illogical. Obaseki too attacked the government of Oshiomole and the one Iyamu served in, he even corrected some of the claims Iyamu made which is normal.

Obaseki has no confidence, he was jittery all through. He seems not to know much about the state for an incumbent governor.

If you want to know Iyamu's plans, why not read his simple agenda. Debate is different from manifestos.

Obaseki lost the debate.
Correct.

Political debate is not a manifesto.

In a political debate ,you should also tell us why your opponent is not suitable, highlighting his week point as deep as possible.

Your other points are very clear for the deaf or blind to digest.

Rubbish.

A very callous and mischievous attempt to mislead the public.

How does a poll to determine who should debate be escalated with such a very misleading headline.

A poll that includes non Edo voters.

What a shame!

PoliticsRe: Atiku: If We Truly Deregulated, Shouldn’t Fuel Price Drop? by Nfora: 5:11pm On Sep 08, 2020
Atiku is a total disappointment!

Subsidy kept the fuel price lower than the global markets, including that of USA.

The subsidy was removed just this year,May 2020.And Atiku is comparing USA 2019 price.

Even a primary school student would expect an automatic rise in the price, without the subsidy .

We are importing fuel ,oil price has gone up,exchange rate has gone up,subsidy has been removed and Atiku expects price reduction. What a shame!

Anyway I am not surprised.

You get messed up in a bid to be populist and playing to the gallery and emotions, in a matter that requires only the application of elementary logic.

I beg it is not by force to be president of Nigeria oooo...

PoliticsAPC Crisis:the Court Interim Injunction Victor Gaidom Relied On Has Expired! by Nfora(op): 2:24pm On Jun 17, 2020
A court interim injunction in Nigeria has a lifespan of 14 days.

Even at that,it was made pending the final decision of APC NEC held in March 2020.

The NEC had since resolved all issues ,till the latest ''funny'' Appeal court judgment.
The APC constitution is very clear as to who becomes acting chairman.

It is quite intriguing that a Deputy National Secretary wants to be acting chairman, above a deputy national chairman.

PoliticsRe: APC NWC Disowns Gaidom, Affirms Ajimobi As Acting National Chairman by Nfora: 2:12pm On Jun 17, 2020
Sunnyja:
As far as the law is concerned all actions including swearing in of Ajumobi by Oshiomole is null and void. This should be clear to any serious person.
I hope you understand the meaning of interim order of court.

It has expired .

Victor Gaidom can no longer act as chairman, even though the order was a big fraud.

How can A deputy national Secretary be acting chairman when the APC constitution says Deputy national chairman from the same zone?

Everyone is blaming obaseki for using forge certificate to contest for governorship election in Edo state. What about oshiomole who knew all those while but still endorsed him?
What about the electoral tribunal which authenticated his certificate? You all are not putting the blame on them?
I do not see any forgery here.

His university certificate reads July 1979.

He did NYSC,1979-80.

The only issues here are:

1.He did not declare his advanced level results with date.-Not required to be governor, anyway.
2.A probable mistake in his affidavit, stating 1976 instead of 1979 as date of graduation.-This can be corrected by another affidavit..

Those complaining about APC direct primarie, are u aware that PDP Edo State chapter conducted her ward and local government congress today to elect delegates who will vote in their indirect primaries slated for 19th?
Funny enough Obaseki covid19 gazette did not stop them from having above 20 persons at various ward.
A learning point for those who still do not understand what indirect primary is all about.
PoliticsRe: Edo Primaries: INEC Releases Update by Nfora: 9:32pm On Jun 09, 2020
Tareq1105:
You guys are ignorant of the meaning of Direct primaries.

Those parties that opted for Indirect primaries, are they not going to conduct Ward Congress in all the 198 wards to elect delegates for the Indirect primary?

After that, the about 10,000 delegates will have to converge at another date to elect the candidate.

At that stage, Special Advisers, Commissioners, Personal Assistants to the governor will definitely vote for their Principal thereby giving advantage to the incumbent.

If you can think well, you will realize that Direct primaries is better. Equal chances to all. It's the fairest method.
Another sensible Nairalander.
PoliticsRe: Edo Primaries: INEC Releases Update by Nfora: 9:30pm On Jun 09, 2020

Apart from pdp, all other parties won't have up to 100 delegates. That makes sense than having 3000 plus in a single venue traveling long distances. Which one do you think is safer? 300 plus in different wards or 3000 in a single venue? Be truthful?
Thank God we still have intelligent people like you on Nairaland.

Moreso, according to APC constitution, election of delegates for indirect must still take place at ward levels.

In essence, like the name implies, direct primary is much more direct.Indirect is double wahala!

Very stupid comment.

OBJ has written as an individual.

Buhari/FG has written through the minister of finance, being a finance related matter.

Trump or any other national president has not written concerning this matter, therefore it would be very stupid of anybody to expect Buhari to write directly.

Whether the idea was Bubu's or Farouq the fact remains that is not what we need most now. Buhari still reason like an analogue old school administrator. N13B can build 26 factories across the 36 states which will hire some of the parents. If the parents are empowered why do we need to feed the students?

How are the schools going to distribute the food?

How many of these Govt schools have detail addresses of their students?

If this money is budgted to find a herbal cure for the COVID-19 in Nigeria, I believe our experts in herbal drugs will come up with a cure.

APC and Buhari are just being foolish I swear!
Oga,government expenditure is multifarious.Spending N13b on palliatives does not preclude expenditure on building factories.

The producers of the food items are employing millions of Nigerians, including parents of the pupils. The items being produced are manufactured by factories,so I do not get your point.

Or government should kill those factories producing the food items and build 26 other factories in 36 states of the federation?

Economic sense is not common.

And by the way,How many government factories have succeeded globally?

Every school has a database of the addresses of their pupils. We like to make simple things complex. What's the big deal about getting the addresses of students for God's sake?

Is the addresses students use at school, different from what they use for common entrance exams or WAEC?

If your address is not traceable, you lose out, simple.

Or we should bury the idea just because some addresses may not be traceable?

This programme is localised to states and local government, why should location tracing be a major issue :

Now, it will surprise many to note that contrary to speculations, the Take-Home Ration option is not a Nigerian invention neither is it a HOMEGROWN scam. According to the World Food programme, there are 17 countries currently distributing Take-Home rations to school children. In Liberia, Take Home Rations have been distributed since 2019. Going further in traducing the minister, the twitter user wrote: “U obviously want to name a huge figure that can’t be trailed nor tracked with accuracy.”

Till today, since 1999 civilian rule started, OBJ government remains the best of all the useless governments that have come and gone. Yes, OBJ government had many flaws but it is by far the best of them all. Same price oil is selling NOW is the same price it sold when OBJ was in power yet he performed better than all these other useless governments combined, especially this ZOohari government that is the worst civilian government in Nigerian history. During OBJ time we know what the naira to dollar exchange was, around 1/3 LESS of what it is today, and he got our foreign debt of billions of dollars cancelled, foreign investors were rushing Nigeria like gold, he built a strong economy that international bodies were eager to invest in, Dangote blow like mad, Music industry blow, commerce blow, agriculture blow, telecoms blow, everything start to gather momentum. I'm sure if Nigerians had seen the future and had known it would be as terrible as this Zoohari government, Nigerians would have approved it for the Senate to keep OBJ in power for 8 terms sef, he would have done far better than this one that loves cows more than human beings. OBJ practiced federal character to the core, he carried every region along, not like this one that is the most tribalistic government we have ever seen in this country.
Rubbish write up.

Our present inevitable predicament is as a result of past misrule by prior govts, including that of OBJ.

Only a stupid economist will compare the present exchange rate with what was obtainable decades ago,to determine better governance.

Perhaps you were referring to the oil price during the military era of Obj and not when he was a democratically elected president.

Even at that,it is quite stupid to assume that oil revenue at the same price of decades ago would
Execute the same value of projects and pay the same amount of salaries and wages of today.

During Obj govt,Nigerian became a major global importer of petrol, instead of exporter. And today, you expect us not to suffer for that mismanagement of our resources.

You still expect a lower or equal exchange rate?
Then you must be a clown.

Also only a stupid economist would conclude that an economy is well managed by using oil revenue to pay up all foreign debt ,in the midsts of serious infrastructural deficiency.

If OBJ had provided 24hr electricity with the monies used to pay up our debt ,would that not have been better than zero debt and zero infrastructure.

Now because of time value of money,we need even greater debt than before,to finance our serious infrastructural gap.

OBj govt could not have done better than Buhari's govt during this period of oil price crashes .

Infrastructure is very key to economic development.

What infrastructure did Obj provide that Buhari has destroyed or not providing?
