It's shameful that many Nigerian graduates don't even have sense to see that the point being made by the woman is to help the masses enjoy housing security. These are the points again for the weak-brained folks:
1 That housing is a human right of citizens.

2. That Nigeria has a shortage of housing of about 20milliin units, leaving many homeless in suffering.

3. That about 70% of Nigerian population live in poor housing arrangement that lack basic amenity like water
4.That many tenants don't have tenure security, that is, they can be forcefully ejected unjustly which therefore compounds housing problem and pile misery on poor people...Hence the need for rental laws to protect tenants from forced ejections.
5. That there are millions of luxurious houses that are vacant, adding nothing to the housing need of the country, and at the same time, too expensive to be rented.
5. That most of the vacant houses are the product of looted fund, yet still not serving any housing need of a population with severe housing shortage cos of ridiculously high rentals.
6. Therefore she suggested that vacant houses be taxed to force owners to give it out at lower prices because failure to do so will forced them to pay tax, and no sensible owner will want to do that for months, or years, gaining nothing on his investment and still paying for it.
