I mean we have several academics...emeritus profs and all who have made their marks, sure if he had named it after any of such people wouldn't have complained e.g wole soyinka university...never liked the idea of mixing politics with academics personally...he should have rather named an event square, tourist attraction site or errect a statue for him at a main city entrance...so this is nothing personal or about GEJ

Degis: You represent everything that has made this nation backward in the comity of nations. Can you imagine this slowpoke accusing someone without evidence?. It is obvious that you and the NDLEA man are working in tandem to bring our courts into disrepute because bringing a man to court based on machine reporting without evidence is pure abuse of court processes
Thank God for such few reasonable comments!...sometimes can't stand the level of reasoning on nairaland

PhonesRe: Nigerians May Just Save Blackberry From Extinction by niyitogun(m): 6:37pm On May 28, 2012
Tinyemeka: I felt insulted when I read the part in the article where it said most people buy a BB for the reason of aspiration and creating the impression of having "arrived". Well, I'm not most people. And that is not the reason why I bought my BB and I'm sure a lot of other share the same thought.

I was tired of hearing all the noise people kept making about the superiority of Androids, iOS and other OS over BB OS. iPhones are grossly over-priced and over-hyped. I had a bad experience with Samsung and the rest all look like China phones to me and so I got a Nokia N900. The fone has been a dead weight in my pocket. I tried browsing (which is my main interest in phones) and my entire credit was wiped out in a short time. I tried downloading Operamini v11 (there's only the Beta version for the fone). Didn't work. Conflict with the phone's Maemo 5 OS. Opera 6.5 won't download and as I discovered, there is no Opera mini version for N900. Anybody with a counter opinion should pls shout it. Now I hardly browse with the fone for fear of burning my credit and I'm back to relying on my BB.

As far as I'm concerned, BB is the best phone for the majority of Nigerians. Not everyone is a phone geek, or gamer who has to constantly rely on phone cheats and tricks to get low-cost browsing. Let's call a spade a spade.
Iphones are definately not overpriced and overhyped, I disagree on that! Depends on personal usage...I however agree with the cost effectiveness of browsing with a bb

Objectively, I think chelsea will provide him the greastest playing time he can get as they are short of quality wingers unlike man u and man city who have- nani, young, valencia, park,giggs-, -adam johnson, nasri, milner, balloteli- for him to compete with.....think he would bench kalou and malouda much easier without a 2nd thought, also mata's being gradually converted into a 10

ziga: The biggest problem with Naija is Nigerians.

Typical black man mentality of "if my own never good, your own no go ever good too"

That na the problem with our politics too. Yoruba man, Ibo man, Edo, Hausa etc.

We no fit ever stand together to see the common enemy. Na to dey pull your fellow common man down.

Sorry to say this, but Nigeria is hopeless because of the kind of things i read on Nairaland.

Gbawe: This is why I laugh when immature adults, who have failed to grow up, shout "seperation" everyday when everything we are seeing , and the stark reality on the ground, shows that many would simply be worse off with how they will entirely be at the mercy of a local and very ruthless criminal class.

Still, I guess it is romantic for self-delusional adults , without engaging pragmatic and practical reasoning, to pontificate that they will be better off once on their own.

No one should be compelled on what to eat...rather produce this so called cassava/flour bread, going by governments logic it should be cheaper and since gov says the quality is as good- means more people will buy it.

Spirit of Okija: Another Criminal walks!!

Thanks to the Nigerian courts..

Odili has a perpetual injunction granted by the court barring the police and EFCC from investigating or trying him!! HOW THE FHUCK DO YOU GRANT A PERPETUAL" injunction in the first place?! Where the fhuck in Law is something like that written?! And to make mtters worse, GEJ promoted the fhuckers wife to the supreme court!! #finished!!
To prosecute "a so called criminal" the rule of law still needs to be folllowed, we all have to understand this. And the police simply jumped the gun so I blame the police on this.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Finally Resumes Industrial Commercial Coal Mining by niyitogun(m): 6:24pm On May 24, 2012
edoyad: VENTURES AFRICA – Nigeria’s Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Musa Sada, has revealed plans to bolster the country’s electricity generation capacity with coal, a local business daily has reported.

The minister made the disclosure during opening Zuma Coal Mines in Okobo, Kogi State in the Central region of Nigeria.

Sada said that the plan was to make sure that the country did not rely on one source to provide electricity; he said this has become necessary to prevent disappointment when shortage of gas and water occurs.

Chairman of Zuma Group, Innocent Ezuma said that the company has a reserve of of about 380 million tonnes of coal. Ezuma confirmed the minister’s optimism by declaring that within next 18 months; the company would be able to establish a reserve of two billion tonnes.

“Today, we are experiencing a lot of scarcity in water and gas. Our water levels have drastically reduced,” he said.

Ezuma also opined that in other counter challenges to Nigeria’s energy security, there is need “to introduce coal to the energy mix.”

Epileptic power supply has been a thorn in the flesh of economic activities in Africa’s 2nd largest economy for years, with projects and blueprints drawn up and abandoned severally.

Earlier this month, the Federal Government of Nigeria took a firm step at resolving the perennial crisis in the power sector when it signed an agreement with Siemens Limited Nigeria to support the power sector revolution through a range of power solutions and financing options

http://www.ventures-africa.com/2012/05/nigeria-fg-explores-powering-electricity-with-coal/
Wow!, thank God atleast we are going to diversify now...always said coal was our best bet towards provison of stable electricity since it is one of the resources abundantly availabe...over 70% of the U.K's electricity is generated using coal which they basically import...however we have this and can mine it ourselves....this is def a step in the positive direction
HealthRe: Lagos Issues Quit Notice To Sacked Doctors. by niyitogun(m): 5:59am On May 24, 2012
MOBBDEEP: @ Docs in the House,
I've always known that doctors are the most occupationally-harassed.
The populace, as evidenced by their posts here, just reek of one of the maladies afflicting the nation - misinformation & mediocrity. What is the difference between the basic salary of a newly- employed graduate & a fresh doc? They fail to realise that it is the call-duty allowance that account for the difference in the Total monthly Emolument of the docs & non-docs, which on a normal day does not even commesurate with the level of suffering & stress!

People talk as if this problem started 2wks ago. They talk as if the government is responsible. Is there any other negotiative tactics that they the government understand? The strike- action self, do they respond well? While the government is showcasing her irresponsibility, dishonesty, given to proving how much power it wields, manipulative attitudes & poli-tricky nature, people are busy spewing absurds out of sheer contempt & envy for the perceived better-living docs, having forgotten that the only well-to-do docs are the Private Practitioners.
Go to the Teaching Hospitals, GHs & FMCs to see for yourselves that the Admin Staffs are even living better off than the docs!
Have you forgotten the proverbial whip used to beat the 1st wife is awaiting the potential oncoming 'nth' wife? Siddon there dey take delight in the acrimony against the embittered docs while your own is just around the corner.
It will shock all of una.

@ Blink182,
What kind of battle or deals have you had with docs to warrant such level of animosity? Even at that, can't you still deliver logical & fair judgement as against that emotional-laden gaffes you posted?

@ Niyitogun,
I hope you are my doc from UCH. Are you?
It's your guy, Shemeh(Oosa)
Yeah bro

A woman produces her best eggs btw d age of 18-22, and advisably shld hv completed her family size by d age of 35 to reduce risk of congenital malformations...medically speaking.
However due to economic situation in ds part of d world most young peeps are not "financially indepent" as such. I think this is a crucial point bro, ur child needs d best u can provide for him/her, paradventure she requires surgery to deliver d baby can u handle it financially and lots of unforseen things...plus my man ur obviously not ready from d tone of ur statement so I advise u do watever makes u happy too not jst her...talk her thru and make her see reasons.
Plus food for tot...be sure she's not already pregnant nw and wants d child to be urs...jst wondering, why d sudden rush.
All d best in ur decision

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Cristiano Ronaldo: I'm Better Than Messi by niyitogun(m): 7:20am On May 20, 2012
ogugua88: Ronaldo is a great player. Ronaldo has qualities Messi lacks, and vice versa. The only problem for Ronaldo is that Messi exists during his era. Him claiming to be the best is actually arguable. I find the argument of Ronaldo moving around as valid. Ronaldo is versatile and can adapt easily as his move proved. Messi does not have to move around to be considered the best player, but he's very comfortable at Barcelona. One wonders how he'd cope at another team with different players and different style. For those wondering, check his track record with Argentina. If Messi's so good, he should be a factor at the national level, but he isn't. This is the same Messi that our own Enyeama denied goals one after the other in the 2010 World Cup. In his era, the highest Argentina have gotten in the World Cup is quarterfinals. They've never reached the top four. The highest Portugal has finished in Ronaldo's era was fourth in 2006. Messi disappears when he's with his fellow Argentinians. Some food for thought.
