Those prices above are from the First Aluminium company. The one you are referring to is probably imported version.

@EgunMogaji
Welcome back... I was gonna come get you. smiley

Hajji M.
Is this imported version of a better or inferior quality to that of First Aluminum?. My brother-in-law has been struggling to raise the amount he was given for the roofing of his bungalow which is in the range quoted by Kolashangone. If he decides to go for this N1,100 type, the amount will be greatly reduced. So the question is if the imported is of the same quality as that of First Aluminum.

New Aluminum prices..

First Aluminium
0.45mm Longspan is 1707 per sqm
0.45mm Steptile is 1936 per sqm
0.45mm Metcoppo is 1997 per sqm

0.55mm Longspan is 2078 per sqm
0.55mm Steptile is 2337 per sqm
0.55mm Metcoppo is 2396 per sqm

Cc @hajjmufutau @egunmogaji @meetdopi etc
Iam always confused when i see Longspan prices advertised here for 1,100 per sqm whereas my roofing guy who is based in Benin gives prices similar to what you have here. Where do those that advertised for 1,100 get theirs from?.

O ga oo. Lord have mercy. Chai, you dey get me scared.

Let me ask you this question, lawyer said he confirmed his name on all the docs that they can not sell his assets.

Now, before attny was involved, his lil broda overheard their conversations about selling uncompleted building. But the agent said "sir, let the building completes before you sell it". This is what raised his tension.

Do you think they can possibly change his name on the docs and sell his properties without his consent?.
If the father suddenly dies, who do you think that knows where the documents are kept?. Is it not the younger wife?. She can deny that she does not know and what makes you think she cannot get somebody else to help her do fresh documents bearing her name?. I hope you know that even wills have been forged.

Too much sympathy causes a lot of wahala. This is business and it should have been treated so.
Taking away the docs from the father does not mean they will not amend son/father palava later...
In a polygamy environment, never trust a step mother... too much jealousy. Personal experience speaking sir.
But all in all good luck to your friend, but please mark my word, this is not over o.

Hajji M.
Hajji, you have hit the nail on the head. The guy should have collected the documents. Fathers always have sympathy for the younger wife and her children especially if her children are not yet grown up. In a polygamous family, every woman fights for her child and if the children of the younger wife are very young, the younger wife can only get anything for them through the husband because if per chance, the man dies while the children have not found their feet, there is no guarantee that the grown up children of the other wives will take care of them.

Baba, may God give our govt a good vision to do what's right. Coastal road is the next big thing. It will cut you off the Sagamu/Ore/Benin expressway from Ilaje Ondo state.
I've been privileged to get to the very end of the road on the Lagos side. You'll only take 80 minutes ride on motorbike to Ilaje, Ondo state.

Bros, with the coastal road, Lekki/Epe expressway will be highly decongested and property value will shoot up as coastal properties attracts higher returns.

But in the meantime, if I'm doing Benin-Lagos, I'll still dey manage the Ijebu Mushin-Itele-Epe-Ajah road pending when new roads are built or new discoveries made. I won't be surprised if you find out there's a road like that already in existence but abandoned. I've seen so many roads like that.

But why do you wish to cut off Epe, you don't like seafoods?
It is an added journey to Ajah now. If i can have Ijebu-Mushin-Itele-Ajah from off the Benin-Ore expressway, why should i need to first of all go to Epe and then Ajah when coming from Benin?.

Finally, I'm beginning to see my chateau decision falling in right places.

You will not believe that I only need to drive for 90 mins from my Chateau to Ajah Lagos using the Epe road. The only reason it'll take that long is because of the bad and very lonely road. When I was picking the place, I already envisage that one government will definitely see the need to bridge the link between Lagos and neighbouring cities and decongest Lagos mainland for proper megacity plan but many people don't see it. I was expecting the present government in Ogun state to have align with the same vision but I think he too is doing well cos the final link road to My Chateau-Agbowa-Itokin-Epe-Ajah expressway has been approved for expansion into a 4 lane road even though they've not done it but the project board has been installed.

Now, with the ongoing 10 lane road and the whole lot of activities happening on that corridor especially on Itokin-Agbowa-Ikorodu road, I guess it's time to go back home. Cos I can easily drive 20 mins to Agbowa /Imota and fly a boat to anywhere in Lekki or drive maximum 60 mins from Sagamu to Ajah.

God bless good vision. Time to invest in the future for the great great great grandkids!!
If iam for instance coming from Benin and i want to avoid the Mowe-Ibafon axis because of traffic from the Sagamu-Lagos interchange end, is there a link from either J4 or Ijebu Itele straight down to Ajah without passing through Epe

Hahahahahah. We will revisit this topic in a few years time

It also depends on the future you plan for your kids. I mean St Monica's knows zero about checkpoint exams so why enroll my child there. I will go for schools that are in line with my plans for them. I also told you earlier, environment plays a huge factor. If you've gott no good school around you then you really don't have an option. Who sends a 9yrs old child to boarding school. OYO is your case.

God forbid that my child's first experience of independence will be In a University. I saw first hand what it did to my friends in uni. No way! Let's do it now and make our corrections.

Meanwhile, you are just being emotional. Lmao! In their first year,I'm not sure I ever had a good nights rest for a whole year. Rotfl! I was hyperventilating!! Now I'm so cool and get to read their hilarious diaries. ( I asked them to keep diaries)

#Teamboarding #TeamCo-ED
I also had this first hand experience. There was this girl that was in my class in secondary school. They are brought to school at exactly 8am or about 5 minutes to 8am. Classes start by 8am. The driver that picks them comes to pick them exactly 1.45pm when classes end or latest 2.00pm. You need to come and see this girl in Year 1 in the university when she first tasted independence. I think what finally saved her was that we her set members from school decided to rally round her to save the situation because she was becoming a complete embarrassment. She had to change department and this was somebody that very was hot in academics and giving the boys a run.

Nl1960, you make great points but I'm not sure about modern boarding (or even day schools). Do you know how many other terribly brought up kids are surrounding your child? Especially in very posh boarding schools (where someone has security following his child, another knows the teachers won't discipline him/her because they are scared of Daddy or Mummy). A few of the females will be seeing innapropriate boys (university boys dating SS1 girls). They will tell you bullying is not tolerated but how many truly enforce that law (it is dependent on the victim stepping forward to complain, hard to do if you know the bully will still be around). And there are way too many horror stories around for me to ever send a daughter to a mixed boarding school.

Day school kids will mostly be dumped at different after school activities or left at home (unless they have stay at home parents). There's no guarantee they won't sneak out for parties (same as boarders).

As for kids not playing outside and interacting much, it's a lack of facilities coupled with change of behaviour. Nowadays, we are surrounded by a lot of electronic gadgets so even if there was all the space in the world, most kids have to be dragged away from their phones, videogames and TVs. I've seen this a lot and parents will say "under this hot sun, you want junior or pretty to be running around like chicken??"

I still don't know which to choose.
I know these quite well. This is not restricted to the boarding school alone. It is also in day schools. Once you drop that kid in school or you tell him/her to go to school, you do not know where he/she has gone to. Even phone cannot help as he/she can switch it off.

You will also agree with me that there are bad parents or parents who think that the best way to show love and care to a child is to awash the child with money. I was to pick my kid from school after vacation and here was a woman who said that she is lawyer shouting and harassing the boarding house master that she was going to sue him for not acknowledging the 10k she paid into his account for his boy. Everybody just looked at her. 10k for 2 weeks for a Jss1 kid in a boarding school that the kids are well fed and taken care of. You need to see how other parents washed her down that she became ashamed and had to apologise to the boarding house master. The truth of the matter was that the boy did not even use the money because he still had a balance from what was dropped for him earlier and the money was in the bursary.

Most good schools have zero tolerance for bullying. They. Also separate seniors and junior( both in school block, ref and hostel). They have limited interaction. My dear just give them good training and they won't disappoint you. Also schools have call days and visiting days.

Good schools give you access to their hostel area during open house. If they don't RUN AWAY!!! You can acess a school by looking at staff countenance o! I've mastered that one. Lol. ( That's my day job)

Calm down I'm sure when the time comes you will make the right decision. Meanwhile if you want home away from home just go and make plenty money cos "good soup na money make am".
Bullying used to be rampant in boarding house and that was why parents dread it. Most Private schools especially catholic schools have solved this problem by putting together students of the same set. The dinning is also setup the same way. This even allows for more bonding and friendship time.

Funny how some parents think a child not mixing with his peers in the hostel wont be exposed.......with all the tv he is exposed to as a day student? kiss

And who says boarding house students are trained by teachers??really??

Ofcos if a jss1 boy doesnt know how to wash his clothes yet,he will be taught...albeit the hard way

Bottomline, spoilt children will find a hostel hellish....

Boarding house does it for me.....my children must go to a boarding school if they r to school in naija
When i was a Senior in boarding house, there was a student whose mother was coming every 2 weeks to wash his clothes for him or bring new sets of clothes for him. We discovered this and then we decided to teach the student how to wash his own clothes instead of suffering his mother. What we did was to gradually take him through the process of clothes washing starting from the simple stockings, to shirt and then shorts. After 2 weeks, when the mother came, she was shocked when the boy told her to take the clothes back that he has washed hiw own clothes. That was how the mother was relieved from the stress of making a journey of Lagos to Warri every 2 weeks. That boy was now at the forefront of passing such lessons to his juniors.

How una dey my people?

I want to be fair to the guy in charge of my house.

The quote he gave for the work on my house changed four days into the construction after we agreed on set amount. To be fair to him he was right that the work was a little bit higher than he thought. I knew this because people testified that more materials needed for the fence. From my recollection, he went to the site between 4-5 times before he gave the quotation but he claimed he only went twice.

Since we have agreed on set amount, I did not expect to start negotiating with him again in just four days into the work proper after I paid 1 million naira to mobilize workers to the site. So I asked him to continue his work that he should impress me and base on that, I am willing to give him extra bonus on performance basis.

In fairness, we bought extra materials that cost more than 1.5 Million Naira for the project. From your judgment, how much do you think is appropriate to give to this guy on a project that we bought extra materials of over 1.5 Million Naira? The only place we had extra work was on the fence only.

He also claimed the dollar exchange rate affected the cost of materials he bought to do the M&E. I am also willing to work with him on the exchange rate. I lost money several times on this exchange rate but I never went back to my clients to give me more money. I never even thought about saying such things to my own clients.

I want to be fair to the guy because I don't want him to feel cheated. I have set amount to pay him as bonus but I don't want to overpay him or under pay him for the extra effort on materials of 1.5 Million+ bought for the fence alone.

So ladies and gentlemen of property section, how much do you think is good enough to compensate this guy base on 1.5 Million extra materials bought for the fence only.

I look forward to your inputs.

Regards.
For such things for me, i normally tell the person to give me a figure and then i will see if i can afford that or if the effort is worth what he is saying.

You'll only end up heartbroken.

And why is almost everyone before me saying "No one would raise my children for me?"

My teachers never raised me. My parents (especially my mother) did even though I attended a boarding house.

Sending your kids to boarding houses is different from abdicating your parental responsibilities.
Aquariann:
Even before stepping foot in a boarding house, I was already trained to wake up and begin my day by 5am. The only difference was the voice of a prefect "barking" or the sound of a bell did the waking up.

If there was any training I got while being a boarding student that I didn't get at home, it was simply how to survive without my parents. Visiting days were even privileges for me all through. Yet the fear/love of my family's name made sure I never went off course. I had been trained already from home. Boarding school only made me tougher.

This discussion should have been "Mixed or Singles sex boarding house, which is better?". Because in all honesty, boarding schools have far greater advantages than your regular day school.
Well captured. As captured by Aquariann above, there is the misconception that sending a kid to boarding is to make the teachers or make somebody to help you train your kids. Boarding house cannot train your kids for you. My boy in boarding house now was already bathing himself, polishing his own shoes, washing plates, washing his own clothes and ironing them before going to boarding. These are what his mother has already trained him to do at a certain age. Most people that even complain of this boarding thing saying that they want to keep watch over their kids most times end up leaving the kids in the care of maids.

Anyway, i have always advised people to go for what suits them and what they think is best for their kids. Afterall, the kids are theirs.

Gbam. The question i have even asked people that say this is if they stay with the kid all throughout the school session in a day school. You can only have a minute-by-minute monitoring of your kid only if you are a 24-hour stay-at-home mom or dad. Even at that, don't you go to the market and leave them at home?.

FamilyRe: Boarding School Or Day School by NL1960: 11:04am On Mar 15, 2016
This debate has always been on with no clear position as to which one is preferable.

Iam a product of the boarding school system and it really helped to shape my life. Because of this, iam a great supporter of the boarding system. This is my own personal opinion. I have already sent my son to a catholic secondary boarding school and the girl will soon follow. The boy is a TV addict just like i was when i was younger. He can watch TV especially DSTV all day long. The only way i could make him read and concentrate is by sending him to a boarding school. Even to concentrate and prepare for the highly competitive common entrance he was to take then was war. PHCN always came to the rescue because if there is no PHCN, he will then grudgingly go and read.

The reason why i personally prefer boarding is that these days, in most middle families, the kids are holed up in a flat all the time without any opportunity of mixing or making friends. Even if a family lives in a block of flats, families hardly allow their kids to mix with and play with other kids in the compound. You always see the kids looking lost whenever they are out. Primary school hardly allow them to mix because once it is closing time, they are taken straight home and the next thing is eat, TV, games and home work. There is even no enforcement of siesta. In boarding, they tend to bond well with their mates through siesta, evening games, evening prep and other social activities normally organised by the school. The friends i really have today are my classmates from boarding school. Even the women that are now married, we still relate as brothers and sisters as we were relating in school whenever we across each other even if their husbands are there.

Haba, the answer has been subtly provided now. Maverick did not do any integrity check on Brabus or the Contractor (Approval guy) and so his pocket collapsed (lost 400k). Maverick then decided to do some integrity check on the Contractor(Brabus) when doing his project and discovered some structural and integrity issues on the Contractor(Brabus) especially when he saw that he used cement covering for decking and pillars on blocks and quickly unsubscribed by firing the contractor. Iam sure if the subscribers of LG had done this, they would have seen used cement bags in the decking or pillars on top of blocks and quickly unsubscribed. So, the subscribers are to be blamed for the collapse. How you see my analysis and comparisons?. undecided grin cheesy

Lagos/Ibadan/Sagamu Express road was done by Julius Berger (Baba of Construction). They have their office at Sagamu Interchange and Equipment/Construction Yard 4km away. Meanwhile, the workers stays in the small city.

We knew what to expect from Julius Berger in terms of quality (so there's no need for background check) and funny enough grin grin I benefited largely from the scraped up asphalts from the road. The waterlogged part of the chateau was filled up with Lagos/Ibadan scraped up asphalt. In fact, I recommended it also to some of my friends building on Lagos/Ibadan expressway as at that time. Dem dey here dem no go fit talk (I mean the beneficiaries)

The rented apartment where I lived in Sagamu belongs to one of the richest in Remoland (who has over 50 buildings which none has failed structural integrity test) and you don't need a binocular to see the quality of work. The house was built in 1989 but far better than 2015 build of so many. I fit show picture sef if you want.

I didn't attend Julius Berger Stakeholders meeting because I was out of Sagamu when the project was awarded. But even though I wasn't around, I still benefited a bit.
The first job my dump truck did was supply of earth fills on that project before moving it to Lagos in January 2015.

You may want to come and check my backyard to confirm what I used to backfill it. Na Julius Berger deliver am.

Next?

Baba NL1960, pls don't ask me about my place of birth o cos I wouldn't know what to say. But what I do know is that the house where I celebrated my 1st birthday in Oke Bola, Ibadan is still standing strong till date. My church built over 4 decades ago has not failed structural integrity test. My primary school, secondary school .... Someone must have done DD on those because it doesn't cost him anything to do so.
Ok. I don hear you.

Btw, was is that you did not do any or enough checks on the guy you gave Maverick money for his approval or was it Maverick that did not do enough checks?. grin grin
