Just like I knew this will happen. When there are too many Supervisors (Ogas) nothing good can come out of it.
The Client will realized later he has lost a Builder like you and Podosci. Use it as lesson learnt and move on to better thing.

Iam even surprised that the many cooks on this project allowed the soup to be cooked to this stage.

I appreciate your clear understanding of what's going on, i have had accusations like "but you give your family money and stuffs like that" I have been really opened to her, she actually knows how much i earn(not a wives are privy to that sort of information) i just feel she shuould understand the situation we are in and all the efforts i'm making to better our lives. it really can be annoying when she accuses me of been stingy with all i'm trying to do. Its not like i spend so much on myself and i don't spend on her at all. i really feel she should be able to see things herself and not have to explain to her always.

Thanks a lot for your advice, you've been helpful.
When i read the initial post and the fact that she works and earns a reasonable amount and she was still rejecting the amount you offered, i suspected that it will come to the bold.

Your first question i don't have answer to.
To your second question yes i will,
But considering his history to be honest with you, i'll have to watch him closely.
When this issue started and there were several compliants, QC1 also said that he should be given a second chance and he was asked if he can put his money where his mouth is and he said 'Yes' and he did and also announce it on this same forum. I hope you know what he is going through now after spending N27m.

Thank you.

I think you may be confusing feedback with character assination which sometimes happens here but it's your choice but I will say that I don't think this approach helps.

Feedback should always be given (even if it has to be bad ones at times). We should be our brother's keepers and not hide such info.

Just me opinion.

Let me say something too.

A few months ago there was a thread (I think it was dominion's thread) about his experience in the East.

When this thread was opened alot of people came out of the woodwork to claim they had had similar experience about 6 months ago. Some even a year ago and yet no one came on to inform others. They all did it your way and kept it quiet (or maybe told a few) and let the others experience themselves.
This IMO is not the right approach.

Feedback has two advantages. It gives the potential clients/people to avoid such situations and it also gives the Engineer or supplier the motivation to change their practices. This feedback can be what the Engineer needs to improve their approach.

Now I am not in support Character Assination but lets call a spade a spade.

I was a victim of brabus. I don't hold any grudges against him anymore. Infact I always hope he does well but look at this.
5 or 6 unsatisfied clients and we still keep quiet?? he has not accepted most of these faults and yet people say it should be kept quiet?

I think a good job should always get a positive feedback as well as some kind of Bonus and likewise things that are not done properly should be rightly exposed.

Are you saying you know everyone that contacts this quack engineer that did a bad job for you?

I think you are a much better man than anyone else on NL. grin grin
I cannot believe that Fastshipping posted what he just posted on the quack engineer and refused to give the name and yet we complain everyday that the country is bad. Is fastshipping a 'winch' to know the Nairalanders that contact this guy?. I do not even buy that yarn that the quack is spinning that it is because he wants to feed his family. How was he feeding his family prior to now?. Very soon, the quack will take up building project for a Nairalander and mess it up. Imagine what we are seeing with QC1 build. Can the quack do any other job?. Fastshipping is culpable in the fraud that the guy is currently doing since he has refused to name and shame the guy.

Involuntary Reflex action or passing gas, is what doctors will say.

But you and I both know the truth! They are doing it to mock us parents!! Or the baby could be like "hoo boy, mama tried tu put me in da crib sayin nansense like 'you're too old to be sleeping with us, baby'. Buh ah shock her by standin' in da crib an' dancin' tirelessly till mama vex an' carry me back to big bed. Muahhaaha, her bweast izz mine foreva! Haba Oga EgunMogaji, it is not every wood that is drenched in carcinogenic chemicals and used motor oil. There are certain woods that if any termite tries to chop it, the termite's teeth will fall off. cheesy. When i spoke on phone with my client during the design of this building you are constructing, he made a comment i hold on to. In his words "WE CAN ONLY REBUILD NIGERIA BY TRUSTING EACH OTHER" I didn't meet him in person till date. Its all via nairaland. I believe so many have done designs without meeting the client for once. Currently am doing a turnkey project of a family house(a kind of two semi-detached duplex) in Abia State for a nairalander abroad. Materials and labour are all mine but there are still layers of supervisors/monitoring spirits placed openly and secretly whom i carry along even when all the money is "breathing" in my account l. I understand why it is so. First i havent met this guy before and its an online thing so trust is an issue. If i come down to Owerri for weekend i receive call from abroad saying "i learnt you are not in the site" but i give reasons that will justify my absence and also assure him am not running away with his money. What am i saying, my brother its an honour and previllege plus favour from God to have someone who doesnt know you, who probably has a closer friend that does what you do give you a job whether it is labour or purchase of materials and labour. Whatever be the friction in the relationship which should be serviced by trust should not reflect in your tone of reporting the progress of the project. Try as much as possible to manage the relationship as it may not end with this project. Thanks
I think you somehow missed the point these guys were making. The project you are handling is different because you are the one in charge of both materials and labour which means if there is a delay, it is you that is delaying. In a situation whereby 'several' other people are supplying materials and labour and there is delay, it will no longer be the fault of the builder. If the builder does not say the challenges he is going through, he might be blamed. So, he had to voice out if secret voicing out is not working. When i was handling my project, my brother was the interface and supplier of materials. The Builder supplied labour. If my brother does not do his side, the builder has access to me and if the builder does not do his own side, my brother tells me. Even though my dad and mum were at home, i never got them involved because the layers will be too many.

@enugu6br, I doubt very much if the house is yours at least by your attitude of avoiding to address issues raised by the Engineers and resorting to command and bullying as iif they are your boys. These guys are professionals who have shosen to stake their security to travel from the Northern states to go and work for you in the remote Enugu village, Yes, it's part of their job to do so but they deserve some respect as well. It is unfair to prey on their operational priniciple of delivering any job they started if hurdles are manageable to keep bullying them. 'House is mine,' house opening in 2 months', Hajji M your invited', story of this house to be told'. Give us a break please! The fact is that the house is not yours, is not going to finish in 2 months even in 1year remember that the Engineers met some blocks which appears to have been there for over ten years and suddenly your bragging of opening the house in 2months, and inviting Hajji M if only that would secure you a temporary online support against the Engineers. Hajji M would leave attending to mature events in US to your mosquito infested village. Keep your sentiments bro and ensure that you supply the Engineers the necessary materials to enable them fulfill their contractual obligations. Stop being childish bruv! Every house has a story by the owner but you don't have story for this house because it isn't yours.
Gbam. You more than hit the nail squarely on the head. Just for a duplex and he is making so much noise like this and having several layers of middle people. If he is constructing a multi-layered apartment block, what will happen?. How does he expect the Engineers to work effectively with these layers?. When i was building my duplex, the only person that interfaced with the builder was my brother. If builder says that materials are not enough, he tells me and i send money for him to go and buy. If any other busy body person comes, i ignore such a person.

I have followed these guys abdulwastecx and Podosci very well here and have been impressed by their intelligence and display of knowledge and professionalism. To tell you how impressed i have been, iam now even considering pushing my son to go and read Civil Engineering instead of Mechanical Engineering that i have always have in mind.

the only time you will be charged is if you want to terminate the policy before maturity ie 2yrs upward. the least amount of premium is 6000
Iam always skeptical of insurance companies in Nigeria. They talk very sweet when they want to collect your money but when it is time to redeem, it is a different story.
FamilyRe: Bank Account For Kids by NL1960: 12:32pm On May 16, 2016
Rhukie:
my analysis will be based on African Alliance Children Education Policy. Unlike banks saving which you can withdraw from at anytime, you cant with from the insurance policy account cause it is meant to save towards secondary or tertiary education. Also it provides regular income for the dependent in case of permanent disability or death (which no one prepares for but life xan happen to anyone.)

You can have a policy of between 10-25 year range but not less than that. An a bonus of 3% per annum will be paid on the sum assured unlike the banks where the interest is based on what is saved. That means if you intend to save 6,000,000 in period of 10yrs you'll be getting 180,000 annually for the 10yrs as bonus.

if death or total disability occurs (God Forbid) before maturity lets assume maturity is 10yrs, the family will be paid 2% of the sum assured monthly till the maturity date of the policy. and all outstanding premium to maturity date will be paid by the company.

Also, the policy can be transferred to another named child and you can withdraw if you are not satisfied but you must have paid 2yrs complete premium.
How is the premium paid?. In addition, is the minimum number of years 10 years?.

we have been planning the traditional and court marriage next year July which is my birthday, but now that I want to further my education and he wants a child, we have concluded I try and get pregnant early next year since my mom has already given his parents the bride price list...
I never knew you were not married to him before i gave my initial advise. I will advise that you tell him to go and pay your bride price immediately. Why must you wait until your birthday next year?. He can do the traditional now which will include paying the bride price and then next year, you can do the wedding or court.

I can see why he is willing to be there for you as you were there for him when he was struggling and had nothing but let him take a further step by paying your bride price.
