PoliticsRe: Akpabio Is President's Preferred Candidate For Senate President – Ndume (Video) by Nnannapat(m): 11:18am On May 06, 2023
Throwback:
It was certain that the SouthSouth would clinch it.

Despite all the we SE / SS that Igbos have been doing on Nairaland since the days of President Jonathan, na SW and SS turned out to be the better South las las?

After all the propaganda that the SW will be punished for sacking Jonathan, Jonathan dey rejoice with President-elect Tinubu freely.

Amala and Ewedu party as they termed APC, is now the biggest party in the SouthEast.

Because APC lost Edo despite ruling there for many years, they claimed it was a rejection of Tinubu in his attempt to become a national politician.

Was he not a national politician when APC had been ruling Edo state? Was he not a national politician when APC won the national Presidency?

What about now that Tinubu has made himself the President with a minimum threshold in 30 out of 36 states and FCT, while some are stuck with 15 states and FCT?

SouthEast, when will you learn that you hatred will not take you anywhere but down and out?

Are you not down and out now with only deputy Speaker as the office you merit?

Amend your ways so you will not discover oil.
You are so petty and childish, Ahmed Lawan, the outgoing Senate president, what benefits has the people of Yobe gotten from his Senate Presidency?

We Igbos don't fucking care what the corrupt politicians gets or otherwise. We only care about who will come and change the structures of Nigeria for good, the current structure can only make Nigeria worse.

Don't expect much from Tinubu's Presidency, except he will choose to go against the principalities that is holding Nigeria down otherwise he will also perform abysmally like Buhari.

So let it sink in that an Igbo man doesn't hope or depend on government for survival or advancement, our forte is entrepreneurship and skill acquisition.

There are so much money to be made in the private sector in Nigeria ,if you associate with the Indians and the Chinese owners of manufacturing firms in Nigeria, You will never be bothered with the Nigerian politics .

seguntijan:
While the Southsouth helped Tinubu get the required statutory 25% of 2/3rd of states to win the presidency the Southeast vehemently and openly worked against him, and gave all their votes to Obi who promptly lost to Tinubu.

The jungle has now matured. It's time to reap where you sowed, and the Southeast, not retrospective over why they are out of the power equation again, are asking Tinubu to reward them with the Senate Presidency at the expense of the well derserving people of Southsouth for what they call "national unity" reasons.

Didn't they know that there was something called "national unity" before and during the elections? How can you work for Hero Beer and ask MTN to pay your salary? How can you refuse the offer of Unilever shares, go ahead to buy the shares of Next Supermarket, and after Next made a loss, you ask Unilever to deprive their shareholders and pay you their dividends - all because you suddenly remember national unity?

You cry marginalization when nobody ever deprived you of anything you earned in Nigeria, but want to be rewarded with fruits of the labour of the people of Southsouth as if they don't matter or are non-existent as far as you are concerned?

Look at the facts and tell me who deserves to produce the next Senate President between the Southeast and Southsouth:

1. Southeast gave Tinubu 0/5 of their states.
Southsouth gave him 5/6 of their states

2. Southeast gave Tinubu 6% of their votes.
Southsouth gave him 30% of their votes.

3. The Southeast senators that won their seats selfishly worked for themselves only in the election and neglected Tinubu. Thus they had huge numbers for themselves while Tinubu had almost nothing from their places.
The Southsouth senators that won their seats worked for both themselves and Tinubu. Thus they both had huge numbers from their places.

4. The entire Southeast zone gave Tinubu a paltry 127k votes.
Cross River state alone which is not even the highest in their zone, gave him 130K votes, and as a zone Southsouth gave him 800K votes.

5. The trend of APC's votes in the Southeast is falling in every election since 2015.
APC's votes in the Southsouth has been rising in every election since 2015.

6. Southeast has not forgiven APC for the loss of the presidency by their "son" Jonathan when they defeated their beloved PDP in 2015.
The Southsouth have moved on, forgotten about 2015, and are embracing APC. Their body language suggests that they don't want to be in opposition anymore.

7. According to the present trends, with the Senate Presidency, the Southeast will still NEVER vote for APC in the future. Their unwarranted hatred for the party is too deep.
According to the present trends, with the Senate President, the Southsouth have a chance of becoming another APC stronghold in the near future.

If politics remain a game of numbers, why should APC deprive the Southsouth zone which is becoming a fertile land for them to garner higher votes in the future, of the Senate Presidency in order to placate the Southeast which is determined to remain a political desert that irrespective of how much they are appeased, cannot yield the party any useful number of votes going forward?
All these epistle on top
of who becomes the Senate president or whatever, the country is heading for a doom and non of the negative indices is of serious concern to your likes, just who becomes what.

Let me confidently inform you that no Igbo man cares about who becomes Senate president or Speaker of the house, we are honestly not after those irrelevant titles that will have no meaningful impact on the lives of an average man on the street, only our corrupt politicians might be disturbed by that. If you set up another election today and field Tinubu, the Igbos will still vote overwhelmingly against him time and time again, and we owe no one any apology for that.

What Nigeria needs now is an energetic and decisive leadership, and I can tell you that Mr Tinubu cannot deliver that because just like every mortal,he has passed his prime, so we all just need to fold our hands and watch the drama that will unfold. I am not wishing for the worst but just have it in mind that Tinubu's government will witness more external influence manipulation of governance than that of Buhari, that should be where your headache will be coming from not if Igbos will get SP or Speakership, we fucking care less about those frivolities.

FreeStuffsNG:
Hmmm. This is very serious and all the Yoruba leaders must listen to them before these Yoruba youths take laws into their own hands.

Unfortunately, this is the fallout of the most toxic form of divisive tribal/religious campaign by Mr Obi and the uncouth Igbo online/real life mob of Mr Obi who curse, cyberbully, mock and criminally defame Yoruba and their elders/leader which is totally alien to Yoruba culture.

I respect the view of these Yoruba youths and I hold a different opinion once expressed here https://www.nairaland.com/7612989/lagos-guber-plight-igbo-law I got backlash from my fellow Yoruba who believe they have had enough.

I know that most Yoruba hawks do not want to hear or accept because they want the Igbo out and sent back to Igboland after the manner the Igbo hated, mocked and disrespected the Yoruba during the 2023 elections.

In my opinion, the SW states must collaborate by reciprocity. Your Igbo state of origin must have given same opportunity to Yoruba in their land before you can get any opportunity in Yorubaland.

Southwest states must give jobs , land cofo, political apoointments, admission, contracts etc to ONLY indigenes of states that have given same opportunities to the Yoruba living in their land.

Our resources and opportunities in Yorubaland are finite and the more others come in and are given, the more the Yoruba may likely resent such a system.

Only those states that can collaborate with us by reciprocity genuinely desire our progress.

If we do not do something fast about our all comers approach to opportunities in Lagos and SW that gained currency since 1999, there will be a more serious violent form of this current problem in the future.

States are subnational level of govt and their 1st priority is to their own people.States are not for all comers. It then means if you now want to give opportunities to Igbo, you need to give only to indigenes of SE states giving your indigenes and the Yoruba living on their land same opportunities. That is a sustainable way unless we want xenophobia in Yorubaland.

Since 1999, no single Igbo states has given a political appointment to Yoruba whereas a state like Kaduna has done so. We should collaborate by reciprocation with Kaduna by giving their indigenes jobs over indigenes of a SE state for justice, equity and fair play.

Igbo should not cheat Yoruba and Yoruba should not cheat Igbo.

Some people still dont get this. Maybe because they are very new to Nigeria politics or first time voters.

During the Presidential campaign. The candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi exploit and explore our diversity, he capitalise on our religious differences in particular to instigate hate among the the two major religion we have in Nigeria. CAN, PFN turned themselves into a political group. Especially General overseers, they turned the altar into a political stage to preach politics and propagate hate against Muslim candidate.

Peter Obi's victory in Lagos during the presidential election wasn't just from the igbos but from the brain clouded, emotional religious sentimental yoruba christians who were sold with the Jihad bullcraps. After the victory, instead of building more bridges with the people that voted against Obi. The southe@sterners, feeling pompous and inflated came with the campaign of 'taking over lagos' . .. They ran twitter spaces, host interviews aided by their propaganda media house, AriseTV, scribbles and tweets were churned out about how they will sack all the obas and takeover the whole place.

How can you expect the yorubas who sided with you against their tribesman, Tinubu in the presidential election to feel about it? Happy that you want to takeover their ancestral land and mock them with it in return, just like you use the word; 'Afonja ' consistently to make mockery of our loss in Ilorin.

Sanwo Olu victory is not coming as a result of tribalism. The yorubas fought together as one again, and they won. Different yorubas from different religion, political parties, and across all board left our differences asides at the corner, came together to 'rescue ourselves'

At first it was cruise, then it became aggressive, now it is uncontrollable.. Cant even be tamed nor can they reason well. It is all noise, zero thinking and strategy. The Obidient movement is turning out to be a curse to Peter Obi and the hardworking innocent igbos who committed no crime but paying for the sins of the headless mob.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu: I Will Remove Fuel Subsidy, Your Protests Won’t Stop Me by Nnannapat(m): 12:55pm On Dec 23, 2022
Anybody that supports Tinubu on this is an irredeemable fool, this goes to show that more misery awaits those that cheers him up now.

Before any reasonable President can even think of removing petrol subsidy completely, he/she needs to first get the true figure for the cost of subsidy on PMS, then effectively bring down cost of governance by at least 40% by merging Agencies and MDA's, sponsor an executive Bill that will prune down jumbo pay for Lawmakers and other politicians, block all loopholes for corruption. All these are achievable if the resolve and the will is there.

Petrol subsidy is the only thing that the poor and the down trodden are benefiting from Nigeria presently, every other benefits has been cornered by the minority elites.
Just imagine earning 60k salary and having to spend over 45k on transportation to and from workplace monthly, because for sure PMS will be above 500 naira per litre after full subsidy removal, so for those in Lagos, from Mile 2 to CMS bus stop will be like 600-700 naira, from Oshodi to Obalende will be 1000 naira or more.
Let some people continue to support nonsense.

Las Las the breakfast will reach everybody.
PoliticsRe: Ogun State Workers Lament Non-payment Of November Salary With Days To Christmas by Nnannapat(m): 11:05am On Dec 21, 2022
This is what many people failed to understand, most South Western States have over bloated workforce, simply because the Yorubas likes civil service job (no pun intended) while on the other the Igbos prefers entrepreneurship.

So situations like this will always be the case because wage bills of most States in the region is far higher than whatever they earn leaving little or nothing for capital projects, that is why some states in the South West have debt burden that will take over 50 years to clear.
During Peter Obi's regime in Anambra, he pruned down the state civil service workforce by over 40%, so many people were abusing him then but he stood his ground, today Anambra has one of the leanest workforce in Nigeria, that is responsible governance.

Most Southeast guys don't send money directly to their parents or relatives in Nigeria, they sell the hard currencies to their Igbo friends and relatives into importation and they use it to pay for goods abroad instead of sending directly, so most Igbo Diaspora remittances return back to Nigeria as goods...while the importers send naira to their relatives. This is one major reason FOREX outflow restriction by CBN under Buhari govt. didn't affect Igbo importers and other Nigerian importers who know how to connect to Igbos abroad.

Lastly, a lot of Igbo guys abroad are dissatisfied with Nigeria's current situation under APC/Buhari and many have stopped investing back home, another reason for low remittance from Igbos abroad.

The whole world know that Igbos make up the highest population of Nigerians living abroad, even in strange countries you have never heard before except maybe online lol, you too know this.
You are very correct, infact I only got the opportunity to meet up with a distant relative that has been in the States for long, and he has paid over 40k USD to my suppliers in China so far this year, while I sent the naira to his building projects at Owerri,
most big auto parts importers at Trade fair market are using that method for their payments.

If not for Nigerians abroad, by now naira will be struggling with Zimbabwean dollar in terms of lost value.

And for the irredeemable ethnic bigots up there saying trash about South easterners, if not for Igbo diasporan remittance, this country might have been hit with violent protests from every corner, considering that NNPC has not been remitting much this year. Then imagine combining that pressure on our foreign reserve with so many Igbo importers seeking to buy the green back from the black market, by now USD will be over 1500 naira at the black market, and so many imported goods will be way above the reach of the middle class, including the smartphones that they are typing those trash with.
