babaolofin:I think we all know that internal and probably external interests are involved in the affairs of Boko Haram and ISWAP. Thats why I think it is best to cut that region loose. It pains me when I see boys from the south losing their lives for a pointless conflict fanned by sympathetic elements in the very same north itself. Mtcheww Yeye region and conflict.. |
okeyglm:So you have none.. |
okeyglm:Post the evidence.. |
joey150:First of all a modern military jet is incredibly loud. Trust me if it is sweeping overhead you hear it If it is strafing you, you will film it, even if it is to make a propaganda film with stirring music to show you survived the onslaught. ISIS did this all the time to bolster morale. That a few clueless idiots may have tried to shot at it is a given. By chance it suffered mechanical failure, went down as they filmed the attack. The insurgents quickly tracked it to where went down and claim they shot it down. Its makes for great propaganda and certainly has you worried. But the chances of that being true are low, unless Boko has SAM capability which they havent shown before.. Like I said lets calm down. Even a stray bird sucked into the jet engine can cause engine failure, which is possible if the plane is flying low.. |
babaolofin:Thank you my brother.. Look I hate Boko Haram as much as the next man, but as far as I am aware unless foreign elements are arming them. Like the CIA did with the mujjahadeen in Afghanistan when they were fighting the Soviets, Boko just doesnt have the means to take a jet down. I thumbed you up for that... The idea of them taking Nigerian army armoured cars and tanks is plausible. ISIS in Syria proved that well organised forces with high morale can defeat well equipped standard forces on the ground (in this case the american armed and trained Iraqi army and Syrian army under Bashir Assad.. Things only went bad for the Islamic state when advanced airforces were deployed against them.. Showing the value of air superiority.. |
OOzz:Another intelligent response... Tell me how did boko haram manage to shoot down a modern jet plane with small arms or an RPG? Better yet can you give me another example in conflict where this occurred..? |
ken6488:Unless they have a SAM, surface to air missile technology, the odds of them downing that jet are ZERO |
OOzz:And what do you know about aircraft..? This is why I spend more time in the west. Sadly some Nigerians can be so ignorant.. I dont need to abuse you in return. Your ignorance is self evident.. |
Foolishbuhari:What facts have you provided beyond believing propaganda footage? Thats right none. Have I provided examples from multiple military aircraft scenarios, yes. Thats why I said at this point I have little interest in arguing with a man who displays little knowledge of jets or the type of technology required to down them. Even the Me262 arguably one of the first military jets (aside from the British Gloster Meteor) was so fast, the only way to destroy it during WW2 (over 70 years ago) was when it was on the ground or either taking off or landing.. So the idea of a modern jet which is even faster and more advanced being downed by small arms fire is even more ridiculous to be honest. |
joey150:Mechanical failure in a complex machine like a jet can occur very suddenly that the pilot has little time to react. The idea of effective real time communication in Nigeria is laughable. Please read my post that mentions the downing of a Jordanian jet over Syria. The exact same scenario played out. Look I was educated in England and wanted to be a Tornado pilot. I studied heavily, but failed on account of bad eyesight and a poor spot test performance. The likelihood of the jet having been downed by Boko Haram is virtually zero.. |
Foolishbuhari:Look I am losing patience with you. I gave you the example of the exact same scenario witha Jordanian plane thatwas downed over Syria. An anti aircraft gun could score a lucky shot, but it is very very unlikely. So much so, nevermind how low a given plane was flying it has never been recorded in the modern era. Please make up your own mind. In truth given I care little for the North and would rather see the South break away to form a Republic of Southern Nigeria. I couldnt care less what those savages get up to up there anyway. |
Foolishbuhari:They were merely filming it and attempting to shoot it down, which unless they had surface to air missiles would have been unsuccessful. As they were filming the plane suffered mechanical failure. The Taliban who managed to oust advanced soviet forces mainly managed to shot down hind helicopters and not jets. They were armed with shoulder fired surface to air missiles supplied by the CIA. Al-shabab managed to knock out helicopters but never jet fighters with the use of RPGs. As a kid I loved military technology so I am well versed in military history. This sort of propaganda has form. Muath Safi Yousef al-Kasasbeh a Jordanian pilot whose plane crashed over the then islamic state was claimed by Isis. Again they had footage, but analysis showed the plane suffered mechanical failure. The only successful downing of a advanced jet by a native insurgent army was in the former Yugoslavia, where an advanced F117A stealth jet was shot down. But in this case again, a soviet era SAM battery (Surface to Air missile array) was involved. Lets be clear, there have been no recorded cases of a jet being downed by merely machine gun fire or RPGs in the modern era. As a fellow Nigerian, we both know our people dont have a strong maintenance culture, which makes mechanical failure even more plausible.. |
Mechanical failure nothing more.. Boko boys went to the crash site and claim they downed it... Calm down everyone |
Built by a native Nigerian company, not by the likes of Julius Berger or a Chinese company. It shows what we can do, if the government gives locals a chance and Nigerians step up to the plate. Kudos all around.. |
Is that so? Then I am moses |
MetroBaba1:Gbam isn’t that the truth. I am tired of all these old men with no ideas. Give us a young educated leader, free of that generation’s ethnic nepotism and corruption.. |
GIANTPLUSHUB:To be fair this time other ministers did the right thing. They are not fools, it is one thing to borrow to chop. It is quite another to borrow and put your soul as the price of failure to repay. Look at Sri Lanka and other countries in Africa, when these countries failed to pay their debt, the Chinese came in and seized ports, roads etc... Amaechi has shown himself to be the corrupt individual we always said he was.... |
AlphikkaTech:You? No vote for me.. In fact anyone can rule better than the vegetable ![]() |
9jaRealist:Thank you for the information, propaganda I guess. I sadly fell for it.. As always abokis always like to rely on foreign labour.. |
Bluntguy:LMAO its true.. Niger this Niger that.. |
We need more abokis like this, who can produce.. |
Arewa you said you are born to rule, you have ruled and delivered the world's highest unemployment? Explain why power shouldn't permanently be taken away from you? |
Kanuri, Hausa and Fulani please explain this one.. How many billions have been sent to Borno to help rebuild it, only for your kinsmen to destroy it again.. Please explain what this region is adding to Naija..? |
drmikeadams:It is that simple.. 500 Naira, rice or not. The average Nigerian should do what I said, otherwise more pain awaits them As for unemployed youth, they will be the final end if Nigeria doesnt improve. Demographic bulge will certainly change Nigeria in revolution, if it doesnt end it entirely... |
rafcrown:For one pick educated leaders that would exclude individuals like the Daura President and his ilk. Two pick candidates that have the best interests of the whole nation at heart. Sadly that would exclude a lot if not all Northern Candidates. Also look for leaders who have a concrete plan for the country. Saying you are not corrupt is not a plan for thr country.. These simple things alone would help us choose better leaders |
Vote for better leaders who will turn say Lagos into a Dubai.. ![]() |
Buhari is smarter than we think Those funds are being used for two purposes 1. To ready election funds to try and tilt the election in APCs favour. 2. Have funds ready for when they leave. Buhari knows he has lost the south. APC will try their usual antics a puppet southern candidate who will sell out his people for money and greasing the palms of influencial but greedy southerners like Tinubu. That will probably fail (I say probably because Nigerians can make stupid decisions), then they will walk off into the sunset with stolen money. Then the Daura President will probably build himself a country retreat in Niger, if his recent behaviour is anything to go by.... ![]() |
So Abuja has the same issue as Lagos.. Looks like a large private residence converted into a hotel. Reminds me of when residential properties in Victoria Island and Ikoyi started to be converted into Hotels and Apartments. You would go on holiday and when you return all of a sudden a tower or club is being built next to your house.. Nigeria and not having proper zoning.. Mtcheww |
Or11:Stop speaking nonsense.. undemocratic generals is the last things Naija needs ![]() |
Fashola, see where turning your back on your own people got you.. Mtcheww.. This man moved every available General Electric power unit bought by Obasanjo out of Lagos to build power stations on the north. See your life.. mumu |
Thieves, Why would you knowingly confer diplomatic immunity on your own ex service chiefs unless its because you know they are corrupt?? Mtcheww, Buhari and his cabal have shown their true colours.. |
So two men bleep each other.. Wetin concern me or you?? Unless you are one of them? |
