PoliticsRe: Six New States Coming Soon - National Assembly by NRIPRIEST(m): 4:01pm On May 30, 2012
alj harem: would like to see abia divided into two, Ngwa state and Aro state

then Anambra into Onistha state and Anambra state

Or

Imos state into Mbasi state and Imo

That way SE got there 7 states.
This is insane!! There will be anything like Onicha state! Maybe Orinmili. Anioma should have their own state.

ezotik: the igbo red hat looks good though, and im going to wear it during my traditional marriage. im wearing three outfits that day, first as an edo chief, then rock yoruba agbada with kabiyesi cap, then come round the day up as an igbo chief from ndigbo as mazi ezotik grin grin
It will be adviceable to know that you must have an "Ozo" title before you wears it in Igboland! So,restrict it to Bini.
CultureRe: King Making In Igbo Lands by NRIPRIEST(m): 2:17pm On May 30, 2012
PhysicsQED: It's close, sure. But is the top center portion of the hat the same and is there a white version of the ozo hat?
Bros,I will take a bow now.

How about this? ?

CultureRe: King Making In Igbo Lands by NRIPRIEST(m): 1:18pm On May 30, 2012
PhysicsQED: Nri, I really don't know what picture you're talking about where the hat looks like an ozo hat specifically rather than just a red or white hat, but I'd like to see it.

And my point is that those swords were borrowed from the Onitsha monarchy or from Delta Igbos. If you look at old pictures of Igbo kings or images of Igbo regalia/swords you won't see those two swords specifically, let alone see them together - although you'll see differently shaped swords - unless you're talking about Anioma or Onitsha.

And I don't know who first designed which sword exactly but I have a pretty good idea of the path of cultural diffusion of these items within southern Nigeria based on what I've seen so far.
Ok,I will look for it!

ezotik: ahhh ndigbo is celebrating their monarchs today from nri to aro but tomorrow they will say they never had monarchs and perfected democracy long before the british set foot in nigeria, and day after that they will reverse to monarchy. whatever suits the discussion na dem they claim... ask dede1 grin grin

btw, i see the edo royal sword representing. no wonder some anambra igbos claim edo ancestry. nice.

<insert long live the king> in igbo!
Nri dont do monarchy; We had PRIEST KINGS who were also celebrated like monarchs but doesnt wield the war like power. He celebrates the Ofalla, new yam festivals, land cleansing when a sacrilage has been commited, counting of the years and months and the rest. He prides over all the Nri institutions but cant impose his orders on anybody but he is still revered. He is the mouthpiece of the gods and only interpretes the messages and maintains all the practices. So,my point is that we do have a kings but with a very unique style. Sorry,if it doesnt suit your definition of what a king should be doing.
CultureRe: King Making In Igbo Lands by NRIPRIEST(m): 12:51pm On May 30, 2012
PhysicsQED: Nri, the hat the Oba of Benin wears on non-ceremonial occasions isn't the ozo hat. I explained this already. Hats with that shape and outline are worn across Africa and the choice of white or red is obviously to match other clothing.

I didn't want to comment on the borrowing of Ada and Eben by this Nri related king from the nearby Onitsha king because I knew all sorts of claims would follow regarding Benin even though there are old pictures of the Nri kings where such swords are conspicuously absent. Let's just say that as direct neighbors we (Edo and Igbo) borrowed from one another and leave it at that.
Bros, I have seen a better picture of the Oba wearing the red heart and not the one weaved with tiny beads,so dont tell what I know. Truth is that we borrowed from each other. Like I said earlier the nma agha(war sword) has been in existence in Igboland before you guys formed the Bini kingdom.
CultureRe: King Making In Igbo Lands by NRIPRIEST(m): 12:44pm On May 30, 2012
ezotik: lol, nri priest, was it not ur fellow igbo brethren who first noticed the similarities between cultures? so i dt understand why u are bitter about what i said. just use the yoruba argument and say it was igbo that influenced edo instead of the other way round. that would have been enough instead of that shtye u wrote up there.
I dont claim what I dont have but I will also correct a misconception when I sense one. And like I said earlier,we learn from each other, shikena.

Dude, take that your arrogance somewhere with hidden jealousy; We have been using swords before the land of Igodomigodo was settled on!! Most Anambra Igbos dont carry the sword, rather we use the lion skin type shaped like sword. Case in point. This Igwe right is from my town and did you see what he is holding. Bini didnt invent the sword but they made it popular just like Onicha made Ofalla popular! Even you own Oba wears the foamous Nze n' Ozo red hat (okpu nmee) and am very sure its not a part of Bini attires and it was borrowed from their Igbo neighbours. Basicly,we learn from each other!!

Igbos are probably the only Nigerian group who has an actual cola nut tradition filled with its rituals; we welcome visitors wuth it,prays with it,offers peace offerings with it,make sacrifices with it,makes traditional gatherings schedule with it and so many more activities.....and the Igbos say "onye wetalu oji wetalu ndu".....meaning; he who presented kola has brought life!
All this talk would be relevant if North and South Western Nigeria had better living standards than the South East, unfortunately belief in a paramount progenitor does little more than empower the elites.

Every Igbo community knows who they are and don't need fairytales to tell them that.[/quote

You have spoken well, brother. All Igbo communities know where they came from; Be it Aro,Ngwa,Nri,Umu Ezechima,Isu and more. We dont bow down to anybody but the almighty God! Eri is believed to have fallen from the sky by some fools with insecurities just like you have in the west!
I've discussed the topic with people far knolwedgable than you on Ibo culture and they all agree you don't have any one hereditary.

Yorubas have Oduduwa. Hausas have Bayajjida. Ibos have none! The Nri you all claim is a subordinate to Aro confederacy, which itsel no one knows where its roots lie. Is it indigenus or settler, no one can tell.

Everything point to a bunch of different peoples forced away from their roots and conglomerated under a language.

Go down African history and study how great peoples acrrue power. If colonization had not happened you would by now be a tributary of Bini empire. Whiteman saved you from an inevitable wipeout.
Its either you are mentally re..tarded or you comprehension problems; How dare you open that ur s.hit eating mouth and say Nri is a subordinate of Aro!! Dont let me put a curse on your already miserable life! Discuss the topic and leave Nri out of this your fantasies.

PoliticsRe: Victor Olisa: First Black Commander Of London Police by NRIPRIEST(m): 2:06pm On May 29, 2012
PhysicsQED: Nri, you've heard of the word 'Orisa' before, right?

And you know that r and l sometimes replace one another in words, right?

So what's your beef with my statement? It's just reality.
Firstly,ORISA doesnt mean God in yoruba, rather its a deity worshiped by them(the yorubas) unlike OLISA which means God in Igbo and has no pagan connection! All these misinformed ppl who say Igbos bear ORISA are very ignorant of what they are yapping about! I put my life on it that Igbo dont bear ORISA! Its either Olisa,Obasi or Abasi if at all we use the later. Orisa is an exclusive yoruba word and it has no Igbo root nor connection, whatsoever! Again,Igbos do not use Orisa and I will challenge anybody to prove me wrong! Its painful how ignorant some ppl are about a certain culture yet find the gut to come out and spew rubbish! I hate that! Orisa is a yoruba word and no Igbo bears that name!!
PoliticsRe: Victor Olisa: First Black Commander Of London Police by NRIPRIEST(m): 1:17pm On May 29, 2012
lol@ the debate over the name Olisa. Multiple Nigerian ethnic groups use Olisa. It's not exclusive to one group or anything. One could be Yoruba from Lagos state and have the name Olisa. [/quote

Not that I care so much about his ethnicity but OLISA is a core Igbo name which originated from Anambra and Delta Igbos!! Any body who bears that name has a strong Igbo root!!
CultureRe: Do Igalas See Themselves As Yorubas? (Official Igala Thread) by NRIPRIEST(m): 12:39am On May 29, 2012
souldust: idoma and igbos are not one and never be one! It cannot happen lai lai.
You talked about okloboia and ada but let me tell you that there more hausa influences in idoma than there are igbo similarities. What about the following names and words: usman, aladi(sunday), yakubu, yahaya, audu, ademu(adamu), alemu(orange), sule, yunisa, waaka(uwanka), etc

the name ada is purely an igbo name. We bear it becos some part of our teritory shares boundry with Egbor and that boundry is the shortest we have with any of our neighbours. As a result of our geograhical closeness, we sometimes do have friends from that area and later decided to name or children after our igbo friends.

NB: we also bear abu. Now that doesnt sound like igbo does it? The names and words i mentioned earlier have connections with hausa not igbo!

So get it into your skwii; idoma and egbor are far apart the only relationship is the short, very short boundry we have
befor i forget. Those names i mentioned are not only answered by the idoma muslims but also by idomas who do not have anything to do with islam. They are names of my relatives.
We have heard you and no Igbo ever ever said we are related to you !!!!! We are just neighbors, shikena!!

CultureRe: Do Igalas See Themselves As Yorubas? (Official Igala Thread) by NRIPRIEST(m): 5:26pm On May 28, 2012
souldust: no dull your self poster. The igalas are not yoruba and never will. The fact that they have some things in comon in their language does not mean that they are the same. Those linguistic similarities exist becos they live close to each other and over time, borrowed some words.
The closest to the igalas in nigeria are the idomas. There are more similarities between the two than with any other person they are living close to.

Attah and Iduh, the progenitor of the two respective tribes were actually brothers. They came to nigeria at the same time after being denied their inheritance when their father died becos they were children of the last wife and were the youngest.

When they were leaving, they took along with them the powerful deities their father worshiped. Attah took the most potent one and that explains the so much power the igalas wield and particularly, the Attah. The attah can curse nature and it will obey him!

I dont know why people are saying this, the idomas are not igbos! They have never beign. Befor the igbos came to nigeria, the idomas where already here. Together with the igalas, we are one of the first people to come to nigeria
where did you get this trash fromhuh Idomas settled in the nigerian area before NRI Igbos huhhuh You must be on some heavy dose of crack!!! Do you have prove of that huhhuhhuhhuh?
