It is very okay. The V6 in the 07 to 2011 is very okay same 2grfe if you are not interested in fuel economy the V6 will do you good

Tell me about the 2010 series(XLE, LE and SE) first please tho I will also want to know about the 2009 series too if it won’t be much stress for you🤲

XLE, LE and SE are just trims meaning accessories is what differentiate the vehicles, they have same engine, transmission and body identical to 95%.

XLE has leather, better audio system, reverse cam with dvd screen etc it is always more expensive because it Carries premium features.

LE is luxury edition, it may have leather things that are standard in XLE trim will be optional on it meaning the person buying new can add something's he likes.

SE is sport edition has added body kits and side skirts to make it look sporty with tuned suspension for sporty ride but not good for bad roads in naija.

Focus on XLE or LE of the vehicle. The 07 to 09 engine is known for oil burn on the 4cylinder engine reason we always advocate for the 2010 or 2011 4cylinder

Thanks Boss, I really appreciate all the effort. It was serviced recently but i will change the oil. I will keep checking the dipstick and change the oil February (most likely) or before then. I hope it won't be too late by then.

Is it safe to switch from the Ammanco 20W-50 to 5W-30? The first service was the Ammanco oil

If vehicle is tokunbo you can switch to 5w30 it won't have any damage on engine.

If nah naija used, ask owner what oil grade him dey use if nah 20w50 it is better you stick to that, change 3months or 3000km which ever comes first. But if you want to switch naija used 20w50 to 5w30 you do it step by step. You first start with 15w if all is well move to 10w in next service then finally 5w if no issues.

thanks but i know all that. we only change the valve seal. Its the same engine i was using before. A Very silent engine. What’s likely cause of noise after valve oil seal change?

Everything inside the engine can cause noise, even a forgotten foreign body inside when bolted back can cause it too.

Noise needs physical inspection to determine like I said I can't categorically pinpoint the issue because valve seal was worked on

We can't diagnose sound online, it is a physical inspection thing. Also top cylinder might need to come off for inspection to determine what is causing sound.

Ok. The oil I bought was mobil 1000 20w50.

Engine recommended oil 5w20. After the rebuild.
I was confused which oil to buy it 20w50 or 5w30. Because engine has been using thicker oil. And I think I bought the 20w50 because of the crankshaft because the engine has been using thinker oil and we didn’t change anything from the crankshaft like metal.

What we change was rings and valve seal.

There is this noise coming from the top. I grind the valve and change all the valve seal. I don’t know of that where the noise is coming from.
But the people that ring it told me the sound is not from the engine itself. They said to use it like that for sometime.

But yesterday i took it to another mechanic to help me check the tapping sound. The man said its from the top cylinder cup. He said it look like oil is not circulating well enough. My first time of hearing the word cup. He said i should drive it for sometime or i can top it with oil treatment it will stop.

I was thinking if to add mobile 5w30 or oil treatment will stop that noise?

If there is tapping sound, the first mechanic no complete his job then. Nah to dey use the car like that why saving up for replacement engine.

It is a very fuel efficient vehicle as for uber usage I don't know but it is family of matrix/vibe, five door hatchback

by dried up very fast, do you mean it evaporates due to heat from the combustion chamber or the cars rings or cylinder are worn hence the oil get pass into the cylinder

I Just finished installing new piston rings on my engine.

I need a work through stages to follow.

After the fix the car idles for about 6hours. And alot of fuel bunts for ring siting.

But My mechanic told me not to fire the car and to drive it gently and change the oil one week time and i most not carry load or use the AC for now.

But from online search they talk about 500/1000 miles for break-in.

Some reports said 30mins is enough for ring to sit properly.

Yes break in for engine is between 500 to 1000km. I will advice you do as instructed by the mechanic to change the oil in a week, to avoid "had I known"

Also don't rev the engine pass 2k rpm till all settle in.

It is either radiator or water pump. Once the temp has risen above the middle mark, switch on your heater, if the temp reduces, definitely your radiator is faulty.

Change the engine oil because the one in it you cant determine when it was serviced and how long it was used in the vehicle.

full synthetic I do 8000kms or 6months which ever comes first and I never had sludge or smoking engine, I used this for 7years with my vehicles. the brands I used were
1. MRS full synthetic 5w40
2. Total quartz 9000 5w40
3. Mobile 1 foreign import 5w30
if you can get a genuine full synthetic engine oil i believe your corolla should do fine, i used MRS on it years ago for my sisters unit.

i dont know how profitable transport is currently. but lets say tow gate to sagamu is #1200 now, sienna can seat 7 people without police or FRSC wahala thats #8400. you pay 2k for park lets say u use 10L for the 60km journey thats 6000 fuel plus 2k, your profit is 400. i dont know how people do it but interstate is not profitable again, transportation generally. Haulage and within states is still okay like oshodi to V.I, berger to Obalende etc.
i will advice you find a 4cylinder vehicle instead, verso, opel, picnic etc

Engine oil a popular brand of 5w30 full synthetic blend should be okay total, mobil, Castrol etc.

Transmission toyota type T-IV but for now leave the transmission fluid if the car is direct tokunbo not those indirect tokunbo (driven but not registered unit)

Park vehicle in a gated compound buy steering wheel and pedal lock join especially for 03 to 05 with lax security chip.

Reduce night waka and avoid notorious neighborhoods known for car jacking.

Buy tracker if you can and install to help track the car incase of unforeseen theft.

Good morning all, i just bought a Hyundai Sonata 2010 with a very bad engine with the help of a mischievous mechanic i thought i could trust. I've tried to return the car but to no avail. Now it seems the only option i have now is to fix the car.

The engine smokes from inside the bonnet and also leaks oil and water together (all dese we didn't see when we checked the car)
