9icetoo: Can they fit more adults. That car takes five adults. I counted only three.
From what I saw in the opening video there are two back passengers evident from their position of window shouting and one passenger in front. Their could be five passengers in all.
From the internal video we can only see, driver, the front passenger and the back camera man.
9icetoo: And loaded the trunk with cement and sand abi? It's alright. Anyway, I am still waiting for a video of a flying Toyota. Wonder why Cessna and Boeing haven't thought about that yet.
Yes you are right and they loaded the engine bay with concrete blocks.
At extreme speed any vehicle becomes lighter and prone to paper wind theory not only Toyota
9icetoo: Hmmmm. How did they even get a Toyota up to 240km/hr. I thought it doesn't have balance and flies off the road at speeds above 120km/hr. Was it tuned by nurburing people? I don't understand.
What I deduce was they loaded the vehicle with passengers to make it heavier, it's a sedan with low ground clearance, getting to 240 isn't an issue 270hp, 3.5L V6 with enough stretch of free road is enough to get any vehicle to its top speed.
buygala: Screenshot where there was a drift at 180km/hr or shut up
In fact screenshot where the speedometer was visible during the drift or Thunder will fire you
Doing 240 on a straight line doesn't equate drifting at that speed
There was no drifting at 240 stable speed, the driver got to 240km/h then power slide (drifting) the vehicle which is evident through the dashboard and windscreen showing movement of the white line lane divider and other parked cars and people by the left hand side.
I am looking for a good Nigerian used car to buy for everyday use. The car will be used to n fro office weekdays and taxify for weekends/public holidays.
Consequently, i am concerned about low fuel consumption, cheap and readily available parts, very good AC system and enough room for 3 people at the back.
After my research, I have come up with the following, all Auto transmission: 1. Honda Civic 2007-2008 (US Model) 2. Honda City (the model with normal auto transmission) 3. Hyundai Elantra 2007-2010(US Model)
I did not include Toyota Corolla because of the theft and harm to drivers. A taxify driver told me a couple of Corolla drivers were killed last year and their cars snatched. Toyota Matrix would have being there but I don't know if hatchback cars are acceptable for uber/taxify.
Thanks
Civic then Elantra, the city I know with normal auto was 2000 to 2005 or there about which looks like the old 01-05 honda civic. Though I would pick the 08 civic than 10 Elantra because the Elantra though rugged loses shape later on.
Gbongwon1: Nairalanders with expert knowledge on these two cars should help. I need to get one of them as a suprise gift for my younger brother, but don't really know which is better. Lexus Rx300 Or Toyota highlander 2002 model. I want something that won't be difficult for him to maintain.
Both are same, same chassis and share some parts. None is better than he other but they have some differences which should determine your choice.
1. Rx300 is always more luxurious than highlander so if luxury is your thing RX300 should be considered.
2. Highlander has a 4 cylinder engine if fuel economy is your priority then highlander should be considered
3. Highlander has a 3rd row version and bigger cargo space hence in the roomy department highlander wins.
Every other things is identical from fwd t AWD to V6 engine
lordfalcao: Hello guys. Thoughts on 2010 Acura MDX anyone?
Likely pro and cons..
How best to handle the oil consumption issues after a long mile issue
In depth review is appreciated from anyone who knows about it well
Cc nurey heavenlybang kingreign and others whose names skipped my mind
Good vehicle, for oil burn use recommended oil weight and always be soft on the gas pedal keeping the rpm below 3.5 would ensure minimal oil burn. Nah high rpm with over kill speed dey let oil vanish quickly.
Don't utilize 20w50 to ensure long lasting engine life
And yes I haven’t seen a Veracruz on the road, yet As much information as I have come to, The reviews on the engine was that every 60k miles or so, the valve head gasket do leak oil on the alternator and kills it which stalls the vehicle
So when the oil drip starts, the head gasket, alternator needs changing. Can this be done
Yes it can be done, you have even done most of the assignment
davodyguy: It's a new year and you shouldn't start with this.
People should learn to accept criticism and just move one.
Calling the moderators to report posts that you feel you don't like doesn't change the message being passed.
Some of the allegations are true.
1. The post was stickied which is very wrong and the attention of the moderators was drawn and they did the needful.
2. The other chap made another allegation.
There's nothing insulting in any of the posts, rather, but stating the obvious.
But you called in moderators, to take down posts. Does that not justify what the guy said below?
I am not defending gazzuzz, he is a friend but I believe he can always carry his own weight.
Now for the claims made, I have been in car talk since 2015 and during those times "Siena's " topic was always sticky at top also "piyke" during his DIY accord 2003 days, if you check cartalk now there is a DIY painting thread that didn't finally happened but was stuck to front page I believe adanny owns that thread. Gazzuzz is the major "information giver" reason his thread is always sticky ontop for people to learn from him and since we can't pay him for the information in cash we can credit his goodwill by leaving his thread on front page a benefit for all.
For the moderators I believe ikenna and marpol are in charge but marpol is more active, I know the moderators are trying but they need to do more in flushing some bad eggs, but let's be truthful gazzuzz thread pulls more crowd like Messi games would get watched more by football lovers, so inadvertently admins would flex muscle because there would be more clicks and comments in the interesting thread which gazzuzz opens more than most people.
Yes cartalk has cabals because there are different people in the world and that's what makes it balanced everybody support who they love, the Peugeot lovers, the Voluvo lovers , the Benz lovers and Toyota ardent diehard fans.
What I hate in cartalk is people like to see a downfall of others and they celebrate it, live and let's live, people should stop antagonizing gazzuzz, he is a great man , applaud him and tap from his wealth of knowledge.
Need your honest opinions on the said car especially mechanical reliability and repairs
It shares platform with Hyundai Santa fe and am sure their parts would be interchangeable. It is related to Optima, grandeur and some other hyundai products.
It comes with a 3.8L V6 I believe only the Genesis I know carried that engine not too sure Optima had only 3.3 or 3.5 but the lambda engines are solid are okay. 260hp is good enough.
It's not popular around but the Santa fe is so parts to a degree shouldn't be a problem also any Hyundai mechanic should be able to fix it.
diportivo: I no even sabi wetin carry bullying enter this thread sef
like say no be everybody dem dey bully......even my small and badoo infested ikorodu don already chop small bullying

GAZZUZZ: Theres a guy in Benin i usually send ECUs to fix, when the replacement cost is on the high side, or when it's almost impossible to find.
There's also one upcoming star around me that says he fixes engine ECUs, there was a time I actually diagnosed a faulty 2gr-fe ecu for a permanent injector pulsation fault, and showed him what chip to replace and he did and it worked fine, so I decided to patronise him on the possible repair of the engine ECU of this car.
Uncle charged me ₦35,000! I lamented but he refused to shift ground I paid and he told.me.toncome back for it same day in the evening .
Evening came I picked it up, installed it went for test drive, all gears selected really well car drove like a champ! One thing about these tiny cars is they are very nice sprinters .
Time to take vehicle for an engine bay and underbody wash.
We are getting there one Origin from BCD secretary
adanny01: I have watched too many videos where a manual will hardly ever win from zero.
On a rolling race, maybe, but from from zero Automatic will always certainly win no matter how the manual driver is experienced.
The problem with launching a manual from zero is wheel spin which means loss of traction and speed. An auto transmission can deal with full throttle from zero without losing traction or too much wheel spin but a manual will not.
A BMW M2 is not your normal everyday ride. And the cars in question is even a 2019. By 2008 or there about manual transmission stopped having better acceleration time than an automatic transmission because of improved research.
Look at the BMWs in the 90s to early 2000, the manual always have a better launch time than the auto but fast forward in 2017 the example I got, the auto definitely is faster than the manual
KolaShangOne: I had a discussion with a friend. He insisted that a manual car will win an automatic in a dash 100m race. I think not.
Car gurus, what do you think?
For every day cars yes a manual transmission would accelerate faster than the automatic hence since they have same spec the manual would hit the jackpot first. Eg 1.8L 2007 Toyota Corolla manual vs Automatic.
For special sport cars, the winner would be determined by driver behind the wheel and external condition of the environment/race track so far both vehicles have same specs eg 2009 G37 or 2009 IS350 as the automatic transmission of this specs have paddle shifters so you can shift gears successively like a manual transmission not necessarily waiting for TCU to do it for you
Then paddle shifters do have grade too, some are just for design purpose, they do work but not as responsive as what you did expect. Let's not dabble too much into unchartered waters
What would you advise for someone who is buying a Nigerian used 2010 corolla(south African spec).
Giving that this versions onLy come in as brand-new, and also considering that they are generally cheaper to purchase than their American spec counterparts . What are the things to look out for when buying!?
Is it a good buy.
I intend to get a clean one for bolt.
Will it hold up like the American specs would.
Your advice and contributions will go a long way.
The south African model of this Corolla has been known to just go up in flames without any causative factors
I believe it has something to do with the ABS unit issues. But do your research well before you buy
Fayrouzz: I have seen this car only twice in lagos.
First, i saw one along Guinness at Ogba/Ikeja.
I liked it and thought it would be a civic... But it wasn't.
Saw another one today around Gbagada and saw the "Accord" tag on it.
I have searched and discovered that it says that falls within 2005-2008 but this is different from the regular accords in Nigeria, the EOD, DC and the rest.
Please, Which Accord is this.
Or what year.
And why is not popular in Nigeria?
It is a nice car yo own not popular because
The accord is from Europe and we don't import much sedan from Europe compared to America.
In America it is badge/offered as an Acura which is more upscale than Honda product which makes it more expensive than Accord
