Good morning everyone. I drive a 2008 sienna xle limited awd. For about a week or so, I noticed each time am about to accelerate when engaged in drive, I hear a dull thud from d rear of d vehicle. Initially I thought maybe it was d jack that fell. It continued. So I got to a place and I removed d spare, jack and everything in d booth and d sound was still there.
Pls what could be d problem as I just don't want to take it to a mechanic just yet without having a slight knowledge of what is wrong.

Reliability both are on par, I know for sure accord is top in reliability in the medium size sedan category while Corolla is top also in the compact size category.

Corolla is more fuel efficient as you are comparing a 1.8L i4 to 2.4 or 2.0L i4 for the accord.

The accord also has a V6 engine which is 3.5L, the loss in fuel economy is compensated by power for the accord, the vehicle moves fast and very responsive.

Both vehicles are okay and very distinct, family man and business oriented accord would fit you, Corolla is good for a family man just trying to start like.

If you want to drink water would you rather buy Eva bottled water (accord) or satchet pure water (corolla) both would quench your thirst with differing purity satisfaction

Good to know that a high mileage doesn't necessarily mean a bad car

I used to do interstate travels very well then, around 350km every weekend minus my daily commute to work within city on week days. I did it for 3 years but I don't travel much now, I drive like once in a month

Yes and No, reason

Petrol is a colorless gas at STP, if the can is not well enclosed, petrol fumes would be let onto the cabin and since it's highly flammable, any small spark or heat let's say from the cigarette lighter or any other form can ignite the fumes.

But if the containing vessel is well enclosed and no fume escape you are likely safe whether with AC or windows down.

I have been transporting petrol in Jerican almost 8years now in vehicle cabin and I have never had a fire outbreak

Should mileage be an important consideration in buying a fairly used vehicle.

Mileage has to do more with mechanical parts of a car but the wear and tear can be reduced to the nearest minimum with a good maintenance culture.

Some mechanical parts work with mileage and the higher the mileage the need to change those parts.

I got a car from Canada at 500,000km and still using it in Nigeria but within 6months of landing in nigeria I had changed both rear shocks, alternator, kick starter fix, lower arm and several bushings, changed exhaust wire mesh too and exhaust hang bushing.

But engine and transmission still serving 9 years after severe hardship on Nigerian roads, I have added around 250,000km to what I met there. Still on factory engine and transmission

Please which rim/tire size is best adviceable to change to that won't have any effect on its effectiveness. I'm planning to change it because I want to raise the car a little bit

Very dicey, the corolla reliability we know, as for the lancer not a regular sight on the road but I have a neighbor using one 2years now I don't know about its general maintenance and what not.

If you want to stand out, you can try the Mitsubishi as online reviews favour it.

Both are okay and also depends on what you want. I don't see the ML is a proper SUV compared to the explorer, ford edge should be the competitor of the ML.

But the benz is more popular on road than the explorer in naija. If you like the benz then pick it

It is reliable but you need an expert to fix and Ford parts are expensive in Nigeria but they are quality and last long.

I repeat fixes have to be handled by special ford technicians with the right scan equipment

For the axle sound, let the mechanic confirm the sound is really from the axle or other rear components then find out what it is an fix. Sound cannot be diagnosed online

Yes it is a good solid ride

Fx35 2002 to 2008 model years with the 3.5L V6 5sp automatic with VQ35DE engine is the most practical of your lineup. Though not that fuel efficient, parts are expensive especially body parts but you would derive pleasure and satisfaction the ride would give you, it's old but still get gazes from people.

The E class isn't bad too as long as it's not the year with SBS issues.

The toureg requires premium maintenance and the diesel engine I know is more reliable than the petrol. Also from the lineup it is the most luxurious of the bunch as some have air suspension which gives it a balanced stance but needs better mechanic

The BMW is complicated and they are only owned by deep pocket folks in nigeria.
