Good day all, I am a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, interested in establishing a small but efficient private practice in magodo isheri. Proposed services at inception include preconception, antenatal, delivery (including cs), postnatal care; gynaecological treatment (including surgeries); contraception, screening for breast anf cervical cancers, management of infertility. Other services include that of a paediatrician and physician (cardiology and other medical problems). It is hoped that, with time, gynaecological endoscopy (key hole surgery) and assisted reproductive technology will be introduced. Our aim is to provide these services as efficiently as possible, but at reasonable prices (I.e. no higher than what obtains in a federal government teaching hospital). I would appreciate peoples' response to this idea. Thanks |
Hearme: FG sponsoredOf course! |
bibinwaka: my dear cancer is hereditary. tink of ur kids do u wnt dat.Majority of cases of breast cancer are sporadic, meaning non hereditary. Only about 5% have a mutation in the BRCA 1 and 2 gene responsible for hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. It is this group that benefit from prophylactic mastectomies ( and oophorectomies) |
Eumaca: Pls doc, I started bleeding on my CD14, it started little for a whole day before it came flowing heavily for the next three days. My doctor gave me Primolut to be taken for 7 days(twice daily). On the fifth day I had serious migraine so I discontinued. Two days later on CD25, I started bleeding again.Common causes of intermenstrual bleeding include a submucous fibroid or endometrial polyp. It may also overlap with causes of post coital bleeding ( bleeding after sex) which include chronic cervicitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyp etc it could also be due to a midcycle estradiol surge (but its unlikely based on ur description). Get a transvaginal scan done and let ur gynae examine ur cervix. |
$wtme:As per normal delivery, its not advisable because of the risk of uterine rupture, which most times claims the life of baby, may lead to death of the mother or during the surgery, the fallopian tubes are tied (meaning u cant concieve again) or the uterus is removed altogether if the tear ia much. An elective cs at term, or at least at 36 weeks, before the onset of labour is advisable U can start trying for another baby now I.e. as its 3 years since ur last delivery Also u need to be screened during pregnancy for gestational diabetes mellitus with a 1 hour 50 g glucose challenge test when u are 24 to 28 weeks pregnant, in view of the weight of ur first baby |
Julbu: Please does right ovarian mass prevent pregnancy.i ve been ttc for over a yearNot typically, except it is a hormone secreting tumor such as a virilizing ovarian tumor which is very rare. Or if it is an endometrioma. Nevertheless, its essential u have a scan done to characterize the type of mass and its dimensions, that is whether simple/complex cyst, bilateral or not, papillary excrescenses on surface or not, ascites etc whoch could suggest a malignancy. Your gynae can better advise u on the next line of action based on the type of mass it is. Note, could be a functional, benign or malignant cyst |
Dahmeyjay: Hello Doc, whenever I have sex with my guy I always experience pain in my private part thus making me not to enjoy it. pls wat is d cause of this and hw can I correct it. ThanksCauses of superficial dyspareun ia include vaginitis such as candida vulvovaginitis, vaginismus, scarring from previous surgeries such as repair of episiotomy, colporrhaphy, or simply from inadequate pre-intimacy before intercourse. Causes of deep dyspareunia include endometriosis, pelvic masses like fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease/ pelvic infection. Go and see ur gynaecologist, so he can diagnose the problem and offer appropriate treatment |
My name is Dr Odeigah, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in private practice here in lagos. I wish to use this forum as an outlet to answer questions from women regarding their reproductive health. The maternal mortality ratio in nigeria is among the worst worldwide, standing at 545 per 100, 000 live births. Many of the causes are preventable. In the course of interaction with patients, I have discovered that delays in making the decision to seek care contributes to maternal morbidity and mortality. This delay oftentimes results from not even knowing where to seek care or recognizing danger signs. The purpose of this thread is to educate women about their reproductive health and in this way contribute my quota to reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality in our environment. I welcome questions and contributions |

Sweet mother, I no go forget u ............! Very correct |
New Alfa: This is useless and won't hurt UK.True talk |
ogugua88: True, but at the same time, I don't think a girl should chase only men with fat pockets or be discouraged by someone who isn't stable or wealthy. Today's circumstance(s) can be different tomorrow. I'd have no problem dating someone who wasn't financially stable, as long as stability is his goal and he's working towards it. Sometimes what he needs is motivation, and that motivation can be a woman.I like your way of thinking.God bless you |
Kamanda: I use to hawk Igbo and gold circle at Ayilara -opposite black sugar nite club..Oooo gbadun! |
dplomaticVal: Our medical practitioners need to buckle up to forestall the enormous rate of infant mortality. RIP deceased twins. Not true. The management of conjoined twins requires a skilled paediatric surgeon who most likely has subspecialized in that area. In our resource poor country, where will u find such. What about the facilities he/she will use |
SKIPCY: That's sad. May God comfort them n the hospital should please waive the charges.Lai lai! Say wetin happen. Na the hospital cause their problem? |
Poor management by her obstetrician. Shows that her blood glucose was not tightly controlled. No wonder baby is still with the paediatricians (to manage problems with baby). Currently, the ACOG recommends elective caesarean delivery where the estimated fetal weight is greater than 4.5kg in a diabetic. This is to reduce risk of problems such as cephalopelvic disproportion, obstructed labour and shoulder dystocia with their sequelae. |
. That's why I'm still waiting for Dangote's son to propose
