Abagworo: I am happy that some people realize the "wayo" the Igbos are about being played by all parties.Igbo is not getting Presidency in 2015 unless by military coup. What we need is to achieve regional political success and also try to wield our political influence in the South-South.Ohaneze has no political platform to wield any political influence.PDP is a hopeless party for Igbos as a result of our open opposition against zoning. Good. Onlytruth, KnownAll and you seem to know what is at stake and what is needed to be done. It is about protecting your interest 1st and make your region a force to reckon with. |

KnowAll: Onlytruth has spoken,
The SW is quitely re-drawing the pre- 1963 map of d SW region. Delta is d last bastion of opposition with also some pockets of resistance in Ogun & Oyo State which would be overwhealmed in the next dispensation.
Jonathan is talking d talk of pre- Biafra East, this is d time to grab Jonathan in d jugular for some geniue certainity, a promise dat would be witness by all d high & mighty of the old Eastern region.
Why some Igbos are ready to accept a maginalised & maligned entity called SE I do not understand, when d North are still using pre- 1967 Northern region in everyday speak, Just a few days ago d North and not the NE, NW, or NC chose a flag bearer for d North but when it comes to issues regarding d East, d same North are quick to identify d dicothomy bw d SE & SS wen in fact d difference between d cultures is at best blurr with a lot similarities. King Jaja of Opobo is an Igbo man in d riverine are has d mordern Igbo man relinquished their Coastal domains without a fight.
I am sure some cleaver ones amongst u know it is a divide & rule tatics dat has been used a countless time with renegade & deceit been d end result. Thank you. You know Politics. |

igbobuigbo: Fair enough then. It was you who asked why the North did not vote for Ekwueme in 1999. So I threw that of the SW back at you. You are making out as though the North dislikes the SE while the SW loves the SE. That will be falacious. Oh no you got me wrong. What I mean is that the North only loves the North, and the SW loves the SW hence the SE should love herself more, and trust no one. |

asha 80: i think it is just bragging rights.I was once in a restaurant when one yoruba guy came in and was teasing me that igbo might not get the presidency and that was bad for us.i asked him what the yoruba presidency did for the yoruba and he said all fingers are not equal that all yorubas are not suppose to benefit from the yoruba presidency The truth is that the SW has always been on her own, protecting only her interest since the days of Awolowo and it worked for us. That was why we were always in the opposition. Obj was able to convince some Yorubas in 2003 to join the mainstream political party, they did. But what has the SW got to show for it? We were better off under AD than PDP. I say it again having the Presidency will not guarantee development and progress for your region. Make your Region a force to reckon with, fight and protect your interest will. |

igbobuigbo: OAM4J and Jason:
The SW is not competing with anyone at the fed level, yet Tinubu is forming parties (from AD to AC to ACN) and projecting a presidential candidate to compete with Jonathan. You guys are full of amazement with your hypocrisy.
It is not that you do not want the presidency. It is because you know you cannot have it in the nearest future having had it for 8 years a few years back. So stop massaging your ego. Which one do you want me to believe now? Are we forming a party to contest against Jonathan or we are not contesting because we know we cannot have the presidency in the near future? Anyway let me tell you what we are doing - Protecting our interest! And the earlier Ndigbos and other Southern regions learn how to do that the better, cos the North is doing exactly that too. At least now everyone know that ACN and the West is a force to reckon with. And we will use our influence only to our own advantage. That is real Politics! |

excanny: I really hate posting when there's a mad rush of replying. Thank God there's sanity now.
What some Igbo folks here dont realized that the civil war gave the Igbo a whole lot of baggage to carry. Winning in an election in Nigeria is beyond thinking i'm one of the largest tribe.
You think an Igbo can just come out to contest and everybody votes for him? That's laughable. Then why haven't the Igbo produced the President since 11 years of democracy.
Let's leave pride alone and gradually gain the confidence of Nigerians.
The Ijaws started with a VP and eventually got the presidency. As Igbos we are not on the same level playing field with others when it comes to playing politics. Dont forget that ever.
Let's go for this VP option. Its the shortest way to get closer to the presidency in my honest opinion. I agree with some of your statements here. But you forgot that 4yrs is a long time in politics especially with a region that has shown itself untrustworthy over the years. Did you read onlytruth post? Why didn't the North support Ekwueme in 1999? Do you think if Yardua was still alive he would have retained Jonathan in 2011 and if so support him for presidency in 2015? Anyway, you can continue playing second fiddle hoping to be rewarded with the 1st someday - at your own risk. |

igbobuigbo: As you can see, Igbos are republican and independent-minded enough that some support Jonathan while other support Atiku. That is why we are different. We even voted for MKO and Awo. We are not tribalists. And how has that helped the Igbos? IMO! I think it will be better for the Igbos to be united and focus on what is best for the Ndigbos and how to guarantee progress and development in Igbo States than allow other regions use their 'independent minds' to 'divide and rule' them. If the Ndigbos do not fight for and protect their interest, no other region will & certainly not the North. |

igbobuigbo: What was the reason that Ohaneze supported Jonathan? If I remember, it was because they want the presidency in 2015 based on their logic that Jonathan will not be sworn in for a thir d term after 2011, not so? So is that short term or long term for the Igbo? How is that different from the North handing over to the Igbo in 2015? Yes. But why romance with the North who have betrayed you severally in the past instead of aligning with SS who have always been you ally? |

Why then do you want to lick the ass of the North again, so you'll have a SE president in 2015. Imagine how beautiful it will be, if for instance all SE states are in APGA instead of being in the Northern infested PDP. About time the SS and SE retake their destinies in their hand. |

Northern Govs Renew Bid to Stop 13% Derivation
Ise-Oluwa Ige
10 May 2005
Abuja — TEN months after filing a suit at the Supreme Court for the reinstatement of the controversial on-shore/off-shore oil dichotomy, governors of the 19 Northern states have mandated their counsel, Mr Yusuf Ali (SAN) to reactivate their case, pushing for stoppage of the 13 per cent derivation enjoyed by oil producing states in the country.
Three states from the South-West -- Oyo, Osun and Ekiti-- are also on the list of the plaintiffs. However, Oyo had disowned the suit when the matter was initiated last August. Stop listening to propaganda! If Oyo disowned it, it then means very few selfish Yorubas were involved. I strongly doubted the involvement of Osun and Ekiti too. We were better-off under Awolowo with true federalism than we are now. That is why we are pulling out our region from PDP and pursuing true federalism. Wait and see what will happen to SW in the next 8yrs. |

Well, get ready. The same Northern mafia is back. Jonathan is no match. Stop whining! Obj became president in 1999 cos of the June 12 injustice. If Obj was not freed, Another SW candidate would still have been president. I hate it when the People say the North made SW president in 1999. It was MKO who facilitated it. FACT. The north has no choice, that was why they brought OBJ thinking he will be a tool in their hands unfortunately, he taught them a lesson they would not forget in a hurry. And pls this is 2010, we are no longer interested in PDP schemings at the federal, we are interested in progress and development in our zone. History has taught us that having someone from your region as President does not translate to having progress and development in your region, else the North would been second to Mecca and Ogun State would have been another Dubai. |

BTW read my posts above showing that you guys did vote for Obj in 2003. Hey! stop wasting your time. I know many Yorubas voted for Obj in 2003. It is called Politics. cos Obj was the only substantial SW candidate. igbobuigbo: Ok. Hang on for the evidence. While you are at it read this Tinubu Restates Call for True Federalism, Resource Control This Day (Lagos) March 18, 2001
Posted to the web March 19, 2001 Chika Amanze-nwachuku Lagos
Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State has said that only true fiscal and states' control of their resources remained the only basis for sustainable democracy in Nigeria. The governor also disagreed that the current agitation for resource control can lead to civil war, saying "it is when people feel aggrieved that their resources are being unjustly exploited to their detriment that the peace and unity of the country can be endangered."
Speaking on his arrival from this year's Hajj, Tinubu attributed the opposition to resource control in some quarters to the mistaken fear that petroleum is the only resource with which the country is blessed and that there can be no development without it. He stated that the country is abundantly blessed with numerous natural and mineral resources, which are waiting to be tapped and developed, regretting that these other sources of revenue were neglected due to the unhealthy reliance solely on oil.
The governor expressed optimism that the forthcoming third southern governors' forum, scheduled to take place in Benin-City "will send a very strong signal that southern Nigerian is irrevocably committed to a genuine federal system based on justice and equity." "We are going there with a lost of enthusiasm. We are determined to promote unity of purpose and political stability. We shall also continue to push for true fiscal federalism in out policy. It is about time we came to terms with what devolution of power means in this country and recognise what the responsibilities of the different tiers of government should be," he said.
Tinubu opined that the relationship between federal and state governments in the country "should not be a master-servant, or headmaster-pupil relationship" as that is not the spirit of federalism. http://groups.google.com/group/soc.culture.nigeria/browse_thread/thread/6846cc65a5d3f037/5dc9c95113f470a2%3Fq%3D%2522%2BTinubu%2522%235dc9c95113f470a2&ei=iGwTS6eaOpW8Qpmqic0O&sa=t&ct=res&cd=67&source=groups&usg=AFQjCNGM2ug3OIV0yHqdCBCrEiDUiSnjZA?pli=1 |

igbobuigbo: Together with hausa states, Yoruba states where the ones who took Obj to court over resource control (13 % derivation). Do the west speak with one voice? Why should adults speak with one voice politically? I laugh in Swahili Give me your evidence. The architect of federalism and resource control struggle is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. he was the one who brought all the Southern Governors together in 2000 for the campaign. |

jason12345: Does it matter? even now that we have an ijaw president, does that mean ijaw regions would be more developed or her people would be treathd better.
i think in nigeria, only the west has the political will to oppose the north politically. FACT! The day S.E is able to speak with one voice politically, is the day their freedom from playing 2nd fiddle will stop. igbobuigbo: It will actually be in the interest of the Igbos that Yoruba retire to their ethnic politics. They can never rule Nigeria from there (ethnic politics), but will fail as Awo did. True federalism means 100% resource control which the Yoruba are afraid of. Yorubas afraid of resource control? I doubt you understand what resource control entails. |

Have you guys not stolen enough under OBJ who was able to enrich Otedola and Adenuga to name just a few with Nigeria' oil money from the South? The last time I checked, Obj is from the South West, and he dealt with your Northern Mafia. The North still need more years to recover from obj blows. The only thing is that PDP should have left SW with Obj's exit. And we are enforcing that now. |

Who cares?
And what has South-west got to do with this? Abeg free us jor!
The west is presently not interested in Atiku, Jonathan or who becomes whoever's running mate in PDP.
Presently, what is going on the West is 'OPERATION KICK OUT PDP FROM THE WEST' Which by the grace of God and the strong will of the S.W people, will be concluded by May 2011 when we'll finally kick out the last 2 PDP Nuisances in Ogun and Oyo. And after May 2011 we bigging the campaign for a True Federalism.
If the South-East want, they can keep 'dobale-ing' - (prostrating and bigging) the North to give them some federal carrot. The West want none of it and pls leave us out of your North a.ss licking. |
