My own policy is very simple.

"Don't enter or stay in a marriage the woman is not giving close to her all"

You are better off being single.

"Marriage is mainly for the Woman"

From the Big day to the during and, in the West, the Divorce day.
true. marriage is overrated and it is not meant for everyone.

@harakiri

i see and understand perfectly where u seem to be coming from but the fact that every now and then a plane drops out of the sky doesnt mean u shouldnt attempt to fly.marriage the bible says is honourble and the bed undefiled, and just like every other piece o fadvice in the good book this is thrown out as the humanity in us would rather unleash careless recklessness and havoc in our daily lives.the product(i.e marriage) was good,it has just been misused.

as for not getting married,i met an older friend today,he must be say 40-42,and as the cold dealt with us ,i couldnt but notice the loneliness in his eyes.having lived here in london most of his adult life and unmarried, his christmas wasnt looking too good and he needed company.he was inviting me and any other naija pips over for a christmas eve get together ,and to imagine this was someone that rocked london in the nineties chicks wise.you might havall the fun now,but you will definitely pay later.
why should a 42 yr old man be lonely at xmas when  lots of unmarried 70yr old men are still having fun with women in their 20s and 30s.

If the man is lonely, it is not because he is unmarried or too old to find women, it is simply because he has no clue on how to live happy.

I wont lie but I have been enlightened these past few days about men & controlling their libidos & I must have been living in cuckoo land for a very long time.

I do agree that men can and do get hadrons by simple things but I would have thought that the brain gets in gear and controls the man. I expect that the attraction will be for a fleeting second but other things start working to counter the "hard on" such as your vows, morality, integrity and so on.

To a certain degree I think women are somewhat  to blame too because we keep on excusing cheating partners; we even blame each other for seducing the man. You also hear things such as "at least he comes home at night" "at least he looks after us financially" etc

I personally think that many relationships these days are not as solid & as deep as they should be, people marry each other for the wrong reasons, don't really know each other that well etc.  Some people are not prepared to work at their issues in their relationships so they take the easy way out which is to look elsewhere for pleasure & then end up creating another problem trying to solve the initial problem. I am not referring to the poster but in general.

Personally, I don't think that anything should be out of bounds between husband and wife. Why would you marry a man or woman that you cant confide in or talk to, tell them your fears, weaknesses, concerns, aspirations etc. A problem shared is a problem halved. These are the ups and downs of marriage; its not just only when you win a contract that you talk to your wife. No one is perfect, but we can help each other to make us stronger; We are on the same team against the world.

I also notice that couples are too serious and have forgotten how to laugh and find humor in their relationships.

I do however agree that some women can be quite dramatic & make mountains out of molehills & so one treads carefully with these types.

I was at a party with my husband a few weeks ago & we sat opposite this young girl who had 75% of her 44DD bosoms hanging out of her low cut dress. My husband actually sat directly opposite her & I was sitting beside my husband.  When he sat down he gave me a funny look and I just winked back. A few minutes later her sent me a BB msg on my phone saying " I am being attacked o!" I knew what he was on about and I just responded saying "Agbaya, no friendly fire discharge o" and he smiled. My husband is not blind; he noticed the girl but he knew that it was a topic that we were both comfortable with. When we were leaving that night, I leaned across and asked the girl if she wanted a ride home & my husband gave me a big pinch. She didn't want a ride home BTW & we still laugh about the episode. I tease him about it and he teases me back.

If you are open with each other and able to discuss your inadequacies, fears, concerns etc with your husband/wife, then you are halfway there. Things won't look so daunting and mysterious.

I also think that if you share a deep & sincere relationship with someone, you know exactly what that person feels about you; so the self-esteem and insecurity concerns are removed because you know exactly where you stand. It is the not knowing that brings along the insecurity; The does he like big bosoms, am I doing OK in bed, am I pretty enough for him etc questions would have all been answered a long time ago.

And in answer to the question that I am sure a smart Alec will ask me is of this girl came to live in my house will my husband sleep with her; The answer is NO. How do I know? because he is a man of integrity and we have killed whatever passion in a matter of fact way. There is nothing mysterious about the girl. Will I want the girl living in my house? NO; because not everyone who comes across her will be able to control themselves & I don't want any scandal & besides I cherish my privacy.

But like I said earlier, Our method works for us and may not be for everybody & I am not here to force my views on anyone & and we are all just going to have to agree to disagree on this one  smiley
Beautiful! cant agree less with this, especially the bold. The truth is  a whole lots of people including OP and his wife are not like Mr & Mrs CC.

But I still dont get the reason for which you will not allow the lady-44DD to live with you, if the only threat is Mr CC and you are very sure he will not sleep with her.

FamilyRe: Help Find Sharon Omolayo by OAM4J: 1:02am On Dec 23, 2010
‘Trusted home help kidnapped Sharon’

If you call it a betrayal of trust, you may not be wrong. The kidnap of Sharon Omolayo, a pupil of Avi-Cenna International School, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State, last Monday was masterminded by a member of her household, Damilare Akamo.

Akamo, who was declared missing alongside Sharon, was described by the girl’s parent as a trusted home help, who had been with the family for six years.

It was therefore shocking to the family on Tuesday as Akamo confessed that he was the one that took Sharon to a hideout in Alakuko area of the state and connived with two of his friends he identified simply as Iskilu and Lukman to demand ransom from the family.

“I wanted to collect N500, 000 ransom but I did not know that my friends were asking for N10m. It was when I discovered that they were not working in line with our agreement that I called Mr. Ebenezer Omolayo (Sharon’s father) and told him where to locate us and the police came to the place yesterday (Monday),” Akamo said.

The home help said he committed the crime because he needed N250, 000 to start his own business. Akanmo, who was trained as a welder, said he abandoned welding when he could not make ends meet.

Since he first met the Omolayos in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 2004, he has been a member of the household. It was gathered that when the family moved to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and later to Lagos, Akamo was part of the family’s itinerary.

Akamo said, “I want to be on my own. I want to set up my welding business again and by my estimate, I need N250, 000. But why I picked on the family, I will never know. They are nice to me. They feed me, clothe me, house me and give me N15, 000 as monthly salary. When I told my boss (Ebenezer) about my intention, he encouraged me. He even gave me N40, 000 to buy one of the machines I would need for the new job.

“When it was apparent that I could not raise the money, I told my boss (Ebenezer) to lend me N250, 000. When he could not raise it, I started thinking of ways to raise the money and after discussing with my friends, we decided to kidnap somebody. I took care of Sharon for the eight days she was with us and she was okay. I am very sorry.”

Ebenezer said the family did not in their wildest imagination think that Akamo could kidnap their daughter. “We thought he was a victim too. It was when police started their investigation that they told us that he was involved. This is really traumatic for all of us. We thought they were victims of ritual killers. Since the call came last Monday, we have not rested,” he said.

The spokesman of the police command in the state, Mr. Frank Mba, said the police were still searching for Akamo’s accomplices.

He explained that the kidnapping was foiled by the policemen attached to Criminal Investigation Bureau, who took over the case from Area F, where the case was initially reported.

“We were able to track their calls and soon we identified the house they were making the calls from. It was Iskilu, who also identified himself as Ibraheem, that was negotiating with the family. We spoke with the suspects’ parents and relatives and it was soon obvious to them that the police were on the trail of the kidnappers. That was why the suspects capitulated and Akamo called Sharon’s parents after eight days of kidnapping the girl. The parents in turn contacted the police, who rescued the girl alive,” Mba said, adding that those involved in the kidnapping would face the full wrath of the law.

FamilyRe: Do you ever think Marriage Is Overrated? by OAM4J: 11:25pm On Dec 22, 2010
0AM4J:
You people should understand the subject. It is not about whether people should marry or nor. It's asking if marriage is overrated. I have no problem with people getting married. Personally I believe in marriage too.

But I think it is overated, because, a lot of people approach it as if it is a mater of life and death, especially many African women (no insult intended)

Many people are getting married because they believe after certain age, whether you can afford it or not, whether you have all it takes or not, you just have to get married.

This is wrong. Anyone going into marriage should be ready, and be very sure he /she knows exactly why he/she is getting married and can afford all it takes. And not just get married for marriage sake.

We must accept the fact that, not everybody has what it takes to get married. Some are born eunuchs, some were made eunuchs and some other made themselves eunuchs. Mat.19:12

If you do not have all it takes (love, finance, emotions, commitment, sacrifice, faithfulness etc) for marriage to work, dont do it. Your life can be beautiful and fulfilling without it.
Interesting, so I wrote this a year ago. . . cant remember, but yes I agree with every word.

You have SPOKEN, my brother!
Infact, if we go back to the Bible account of Jesus, they tried to kill him and found it SO DIFFICULT to identify and single him out, among his disciples!
In any church today, you can SMELL the Pastor/G.O/ Reverend from a mile Off!
His Italian-Armani suit is wicked!
The "Jerry-Curls" of some of them will put Micheal Jackson (of the new OMO fame!) to shame!
Check out their Alligator-Skin shoe
Check out the Rolex wristwatch!
Check those off-road 4-wheels with bullet exterior and all leather interior
Worst of all, check the kind of "aristocratic" chair they set-up for themselves in the high places!

Even their wife gets "automatic elevation" to Mummy-this, Mummy-that and she expects you to bow when talking to her! angry
(I go marry Pastor, Walahi!) kiss kiss wink

It took Judas (one of his disciples, a thief and treasury looter from day-one) to IDENTIFY Jesus to his abductors, using the fateful "Kiss-of-Death"!

Pray, tell me, how are these church leaders "CHRIST-LIKE"?

Christ never acquired properties all over Gallile or Jericho but these ones are not done with those they have in Nigeria and Europe, Now they joined Ibori and Ibru, in DUBAI! Haaaba? angry

***Christ took care of the poor, he FED them! These ones BLEED the poor! shocked
***Christ Chased away, whipped and scattered the tables of those desecrating his church (Wicked Burea-De-Change grin and 419's)
***Modern day Pastors are in cahoot in aiding and abetting thievery, and therefore guilty, by association!

Mind you, Christ "dressed well", he did not wear rags (remember those warders fought over his robe?) BUT he did not make ostentatious dressing the "center-piece" of his ministry.

The irony of the whole situation is that "WE ARE THE MOST RELIGIOUS YET THE MOST ENDANGERED BY POVERTY!

My old man used to say: If we say the truth, we stand condemned, if we lie, nothing changes, therefore, why not say the truth and be damned!

I have respect for anyone who says he is a man-of-God, let God judge their conscience but was it not Christ that said the following:

"And these would be the signs that says the end is at hand: Men will be lovers of money, many will come and deceive the people in my name, war and rumors of war (reminds me of Atiku! grin ), then know that the end is at hand"!

End of sermon grin wink

To kneel is an act of humility and the one he was kneeling for was not Adeboye but God. And if you read Jonathan's prayer request, it was not directed only to Adeboye, but to the entire church which Adeboye was only privileged to lead.

Becomerich, you are not God and you are incapable of telling what prayer God will ignore or what prayer He will answer. If you know your bible at all, you will remember the story of the pharisee and the tax-collector that went into the temple to pray, and which prayer was honored and which was not.  You cannot see the hearts of Jonathan, Adeboye and several thousands of people that prayed for Jonathan, so let God be the judge.

I am your sitting president, pray for me so that I will not deviate from the fear of God,

-President Goodluck Jonathan kneeling before Pastor Enoch Adeboye at the Holy Ghost Congress on Friday night. Photo: State House

Jonathan goes spiritual on insecurity
Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has admitted that natural and acquired intellect, strategic plans and formidable defence were altogether insufficient to tackle the alarming rate of insecurity in the nation, except by divine intervention.

The president assured that his government would employ all means to ensure that the alarming incidents of kidnapping and threat to lives and property in Nigeria became a thing of the past, before the end of the first half of next year.

President Jonathan, while speaking at the just concluded annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Friday night, held at the Redeemed Camp, Lagos- Ibadan Express Road, reiterated that his government was committed to phasing out kidnapping in Nigeria and assured the people on security of lives and property ahead of next year’s general elections.

He stated that his government was aware that there would be no meaningful economic development in Nigeria if incidents of kidnapping persisted.

“I promise you that we will do everything to phase out kidnapping in Nigeria by the first half of next year, this is because there cannot be any development in a nation with high rate of kidnapping. Nobody will want to do business where there is no safety.

“Safety in Nigeria is the priority of our government, just pray for us that God should give us wisdom. We will work hard against robbery; we are committed to tackling corruption and mismanagement of public funds and we are also committed to education development. But I must tell you that none of these will work if God is not there for us. Pray that God should guide us.

“It is only God that can help me to change things. Pray for me now that I am the sitting president of your country. Pray for me not to deviate from the fear of God,” the president stated.

Speaking on the 2011 general elections, President Jonathan, who enjoined Nigerians to pray against any self- imposed leader at all levels, stressed that the stability and expected meaningful development in Nigeria could only come with the emergence of true leaders in the coming elections.

“I have discovered that whenever the country is drifting, Christians will always rise to pray and ensure stability. I am here tonight to submit myself to you and God for prayers. My political history was just like that of David in the Bible who did not know that he would become a king. I did not struggle for political position, it is never my efforts, that is why, anything I have to do, I do with the fear of God. Therefore, pray for me not to drift from His fear,” he said.

Based on his request, president Jonathan knelt down before the congregation and he was prayed for at the Holy Ghost Congress.

While commending Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the church, President Jonathan, who was attending the programme for the first time in its 13 years of existence, noted that when he visited the pastor in 2007 in company of his late boss, Musa Yar’Adua, “he prayed for us and all he told us came to pass.”

President Jonathan left the Holy Ghost Congress at about 12 midnight.
In his response, Pastor Adeboye reiterated that Nigerian Christians would not fold their arms and watch during the coming general elections promised to lead the fight against any cheating during elections. He warned the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against rigging.

He said: “I am a Nigerian; I love Nigeria and it is going to be well with Nigeria. I want to say it again, Christians, you must register, you must vote and be ready to defend your vote. INEC, we love you, but no magomago this time. I will lead the fight, if we suspect any magomago. Give us a free and fair election, whatever the result is, just give us a free and fair election.”
