Sam Milla: Does any of that ranting change the fact that he is your elected president? Mike stop ranting up and down here about health care system because you have not answered the question i asked you . Which African Country has that superb health care system? Since Ghaddafi and Mbeki goes abroad for health check , why wouldnt Our president ? United states of America and still debating about health care system up till today. And they are supposed to be numero uno in development. You seem to be concentrating on Nigeria leadership that you failed to do anything for yourself.
What about WHAT YOU HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE NATION ? I remember i used to join my kinsmen to do the local roads, we dont wait for President to do it for us . How many times have you participated on such projects ? You watch CNN and MTV and fantasize on your bed on how Nigeria should have been America.
My question again mr ? Where is that super schools and hospitals in Africa,, If you dont know which countries are in Africa
I will tell you some of them,
You have Togo and Benin Republic Near You. Cameroun and Niger Rep too,
Then there is ghana , civ, senegal , liberia, sierra leone. gabon, eritrea, zambia, mighty zimbabwe, uganda, rwanda, sudan, kenya and co, Those are your neigbours,
A close look will tell you that we are even better off. such things dont come easy. Nigeria is a big nation. The biggest in Africa. The revenue you generate from your oil is not enough to serve such a massive population.
all in all, my question again is What have you done for your sick president ? even if he has done nothing for you. Now please quit sentiments. The important thing right now is that Nigeria should make progress. Nigeria is far bigger than him and he can not hold us to ransom because of his ill health. There are many fathers and husbands in hospitals all over Nigeria who unfortunately cannot afford the luxury of treatments he receives. If I must pray, I should pray for those 1st. What have I done? I wish him whatever he wishes himself. I cannot love him more than he loves himself. Unfortunately, the more I look at it the more I see someone who does not love his health and life, who prefers to hold on to power at the detriment of his health. I can only pity such person. |

For those calling for his resignature or leave letter, cant you see it is already too late? If any of such letter comes out, I will believe it's forged. How can a sick, mentally unbalanced person sign a letter?
The man should simply be impeached. And please let us stop being sentimental about this man's health. He is not the 1st/only husband and father to fall sick. Nigeria is bigger than any man. |

JProspero: Facebook is cool but it is too pretentious. If a friend shows his or her family's picture with her/his spouse or kid looking like a monkey, you will see people shout ,"what a lovely family! You are great in that picture!" If a man shows the picture of his wife looking as fatter than Yokozuna, rather than people telling him to advise his wife to lose weight, they will tell him she is so lovely.
But on Nairaland, people say it the way they feel without trying to be nice.
I am frequently on FB but can never be hooked to it for a long time, but NL can make me forget my job and read on for several hours. NL is ours and hot anyday. There is so much news, gossip, and pulse of the people on it. True. For me I think I am becoming too addicted to NL, I dont visit FB everyday. I spend too much time here (I read a lot here). I think I need deliverance from NL |

Nairaland General › Interesting! Identical Twins Married And Gave Birth To Baby Girs Same Day. by OAM4J(op): 11:14pm On Dec 13, 2009 |
Coincidental lives of Oyeteju twins
The story of the Lagos-based Oyeteju twins seems to go beyond that of normal identical ones. Both females, a chain of events that recently happened in their lives say volumes about them, writes SAMUEL AWOYINFA
THOUGH Taiwo and Kehinde Oyeteju were born on the same day – March 26, 1982
– at the General Hospital Isolo,
Lagos, many unique happenstances surrounding their lives suggest that they are ‘strange twins.‘ Their parents and their neighbours, who began to take a closer look at the lives of these female twins since they were born until they became adults, are coming to the conclusion that there is more to them than ordinary eye can see.
You might conclude that there is no big deal that both attended the same schools, beginning from primary through tertiary. Again, you might conclude that there is no fuss about them graduating the same year, having successfully completed a course of study in Banking and Finance at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye in 2007.
But the Oyeteju twins got wedded the same day to their spouses on June 26, 2009 at the Ikoyi Registry, Lagos. Though they look quite identical, the only point of departure for now seems to be that they are Mrs. Taiwo Falowo and Kehinde Alder respectively.
But just as you begin to dismiss these similarities in these twins, more curious and strange similarities, which provoke further thoughts, begin to surface.
The first is that they were delivered of their babies the same day at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba. The babies were both females. The only difference about their birth was the time of their arrival.
It was Kehinde who gave birth first and according to her, the baby was born at exactly 2.30am. For Taiwo, her own baby came at exactly 5.30am. Both babies came on Nov. 25, 2009.
Taiwo takes over the story. She says, ”Kehinde and I had gone for our usual ante-natal clinic on Nov. 24, 2009 and the doctor told us that we were due and we were to be placed on admission from that moment.
”It was not funny, but we could not refuse. What we did was to send messages to our people to help bring our luggage and baby things that we had bought. I was in Ward 8, while Kehinde was in Ward 3. The next day, we both gave birth.”
Taiwo said Kehinde came to her bedside to encourage her, as soon as she could gain enough strength after she was delivered of her own baby. ”In fact, Kehinde came to me and she started praying for me for my own baby to come. She was almost crying for me,” Taiwo added.
Some of the curious questions their neighbours and even other expectant mothers in their wards were asking were: Did they plan it? Does it mean they conceived at the same time?
Taiwo and Kehinde said separately that they did not plan their pregnancies and that it was beyond their own explanation and knowledge.
Hear Kehinde: ”I believe that it was only a divine arrangement.”
Taiwo‘s husband, Deji, also corroborated what Kehinde said. ”We never planned it but it just pleases God that it happened that way,” he stated.
One of the neighbours of the twins, Mr. Oyeladun Oke, who indeed brought the story to our notice, expressed his amazement and surprise at such coincidence. He noted that even if it happened that they met their husbands the same time, does it mean they conceived at the same time?
”Even if they conceived at the same time, you know the Expected Delivery Date is either plus 14 or minus 14. How come one of them did not deliver her own baby earlier? I believe this is more than meets the eye. I could see divine arrangement in this,” he said.
Furthermore, Taiwo and Kehinde have only mothers-in-law and their husbands never knew themselves intimately until they were courting their wives. Again, another curious or strange coincidence happened on Dec. 2, 2009 during the naming ceremonies. While Kehinde had her child named at the Trinity area in Apapa, Taiwo had hers at Bariga. But while the Falowos and Alders never consulted before arriving at some of the names given to their babies, two names stood out again for the children. The name is Elizabeth. Another coincidence, you would say?
Corroborating this, the pastor, who officiated at the naming ceremony of the Falowos, Revd. Noah Ayanlere of First Baptist Church, Ijesatedo, said that he was surprised when he heard that the Alders also named their baby Elizabeth.
He said, ”I was the one that officiated at the Falowos naming ceremony and the name Elizabeth was one of the names the family put forward. I later learnt that the Alders also have it as one of the names given their own baby. I learnt that the names were picked by elders from both sides, without any prior consultations. To me it is strange.”
Ayanlere, who is the pastor in charge of the church where the parents of the twins worship, added that there was divine hand in everything that had happened to these twins. ”Everything that has happened to these twins goes beyond the normal things normally associated with other twins. I believe everything has a divine tinge to it. It is not ordinary.”
The twins parents, Mr. Taiwo Oyeteju and Mrs Modupe Oyeteju, were no less amazed about the happenings in their children‘s lives. Being parents of four – all girls – they stated that Taiwo and Kehinde were quite different from the others.
Mrs. Oyeteju said that the twins loved each other and they did things in common. ”If you give them their food or drinks separately, they always ended up eating or drinking together. Taiwo and Kehinde would prefer to use the same spoon to eat if you give them rice and they will eat from the same plate. If you give them two bottles of Coca-Cola, they would drink it one bottle after the other, using the same straw.”
Do the parents not suspect something strange in these twins? While he agreed that there was something strange, Mr. Oyeteju noted that all he could see was a divine arrangement in the lives of their daughters.
Kehinde‘s mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Alder, said, ”It is not ordinary. I have seen some other twins, but these ones are special, given the strange events that happened these few days.”
A psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Dr. Rotimi Coker, offers a more scientific explanation on the matter. He explains that there are two types of twins –mono-zygotic and di-zygotic twins. The mono-zygotic twins, he states, are from the same egg and they are the ones referred to as identical twins. On the other hand, the di-zygotic twins are from two different eggs and they are non-identical. He notes that identical twins share the same chromosomes and genes.
Making specific reference to a set of female twins, Coker adds that it is possible if they ovulate at the same time and their husbands sleep with them same day, they are likely to conceive the same day.
Besides, Coker stresses that given the fact that they share certain chromosomes, the concordance rate of illness is very high among identical twins, even when they do not stay together.
Another psychologist in the Department of Psychology, University of Lagos, Prof. Kayode Oguntuashe, shares Coker’s point of view. He submits that since they are identical twins, they carry the same set of genes, they exhibit the same dispositions, in terms of feeling, thinking and acting. He however points out that ”there may be slight variations in their behaviour due to environment influence.”
A sociologist at the University of Lagos, Prof. Lai Olurode, hinges his own argument basically on telepathic characteristics among twins. Arguing from the perspective of African culture and beliefs, he says that twins are seen more to share telepathic characteristics. He however does not rule out the fact that the twins in question must have shared some genetic identities. ”In this case, you cannot rule out the fact that nature and nurture are at work. They must have shared the same genetic identities.”
Dr. Yomi Lawal of the Badagry General Hospital says that there is no medical connection, but ”there may be some other factors that are responsible.”
He contends that once the pregnancy is up to 38 weeks, birth may be induced if it is certified that the expectant mother is fit and can deliver the baby at that point. ”Though I am not saying that the births were induced,” he says.
But he argues that the spiritual has no basis medically. He adds, ”In Africa, there is this myth about twins. People believe they are special and peculiar in certain ways. Some even say when one takes ill, the other may also take ill.”
An official of the Public Relations Department, LUTH, Mrs. Hope Nwawolo, said the hospital management held in confidence information about their patients.
”We do not give out information about our patients,” she said. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200912132483631 |

Gbawe: That is a warped and insensitive viewpoint. How can you not see him as a President? Do you understand that the lives of many families rely on Yar Adua's ability to make the right decisions? We all agree that Yar Adua has a private life. We know he has a family that love and cherish him. Sentiments aside, Yar Adua still has to lead 150 million folks effectively There is no allowance for drama and emotion. Even one minute of poor national leadership equates to death, misery, poverty and squalor for many Nigerians. Rather than giving in to elitist sentiments that make us empathise with a public figure why not spare a minutes thought for the many Nigerian , with no voice, dying daily because of the incompetence and distraction of Yar Adua. Are those Nigerians not fathers and husbands as well? Do they not have loved ones worried about them too? The more I read Nigerian websites the more I conclude that , at the core , majority of Nigerians are elitist in their thinking.
It is always about the big, special man/woman. Never about the voiceless millions living in abject poverty and misery. Yar Adua has created problems for himself. Every decent person should wish him well but we should also not be blind to the selfishness of our President and his cruel minions. We all know Yar Adua cannot ever lead Nigeria properly. Are we not ashamed that in an age when African nations are forging ahead we are still here making excuse for poor and clueless leadership beset by serious illness? Thank you. Gbawe: My friend, I dont like 'going around the houses' and I don't have time for convoluted and indirect debate that avoids the issue at hand. I will ask you again hoping you will respond this time, please (and this goes to all the Doctors here as well) list all the diseases that show Yar Adua's symptoms and systemic key stage manifestations!!!Then , by process of elimination let us see if we end up with Churg Strauss or not !!! Until you do that , you are simply patronising the intelligence of Nairalanders with your continued argument. The good lord gave as a brain so that we can use it to analyse, probe and deduce !!! Many of us know egg, larva, pupa and adult describes the life circle of a Butterfly . That is how simple and staged some diseases are. Rare diseases like Churg Strauss are even easier to diagnose because symptoms and stages follow a clear pattern !!
Nothing , other than Churg Strauss, fits Yar Adua's documented medical history. He was thought to have Asthma. Gradually , his organs were involved indicating a chronic illness with Strong suggestion of an autoimmune and vasculitic condition. Key diagnostic symptoms were seen also like skin lesions. Please let us stop with distractive arguments that get us nowhere. First show me a condition , other than Churg Strauss, that could fit our Presidents history and we can talk. Otherwise you should stop suggesting folks are "guessing" when they are stating facts , with virtually no room for error , informed by science and history . You stated it better than I could have done. Gbawe: My friend , how do you think a great Nigeria will emerge? We all know Yar Adua is not in charge. He has probably never been in charge. That does not mean we should stop asking for due process that will strenghten our national democracy in getting us where we need to go. Generally, nations learn from mistakes and experience. The President is very ill and you , along with the FEC and all the self-serving Nigerian elite and politicians, are suggesting that we see him as a father and a husband when he is actually far more than that. You speak about his "loved ones". Do you think average Nigerians who are very sick , with no access to the excellent healthcare Mr. President is recieving, do not have loved ones either? What has Yar Adua done in 2 years to improve healthcare in Nigeria? All I see from Yar Adua and his camp is a wicked desperation to hold on to power that they are not endowed or willing to use for the benefit of Nigerians.
I am sorry but I cannot see Yar Adua as a father and a husband. A genuine father will never put his children in danger. A father will sacrifice his convenience so that his children are comfortable. He will die for them . Yar Adua should be the 'father' of all Nigerians yet what is he doing other than prolonging their suffering with his ineffective leadership?
A good husband will understand the principle of humility, love, compassion and trust . A good husband , to keep the home running well, will let his wife handle family affair if he cannot be available. He does not decieve his wife by pretending he is competent when he is not. The children will be the one to suffer , just like Nigerians are suffering, if that happens. We should abandon sentiments and open our eyes to what Yar Adua and his group are actually doing to our nation. Again Thank you. How I wish majority of Nigerians can leave sentiments and be realistic for once. |

Since Independence , the Nigerian Govt have been promoting the idea of wars by their actions.
The US dont need to come to Nigeria and make the Northern Oligarchy to live in stupendous wealth while the Nothern populace are left as beggars on the streets.
The US dont need to come here and make all our politicians to be corrupt while all the public infrastructures lie in rot.
The US dont need to come here and make Federal Budgeting system in such a way that the region of the nation that produces the bulk of the wealth remanins the poorest. The US dont need to do that, No sireeee,
We do bad all by ourself. Its a Nigerian problem , not a US problem. I agree with you. But in the event of war in this country, US will show up, to protect their selfish interest as usual. Politics › Re: Yar’adua’s Illness: Jonathan Refuses To Sign Budget by OAM4J(op): 4:17am On Dec 13, 2009 |
‘Jonathan can’t act as President’ - Senator Mamora
For those clamouring for the Vice President Jonathan Goodluck to become acting President, they will need to prevail on President Umaru Yar‘Adua to write formally to the Senate that he is not available in the country.
Except the President writes to the upper federal legislature in accordance with the provision of section 145 of the Nigerian 1999 constitution, Goodluck can never be acting President, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora said on Saturday.
”For the Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to act as President, what needs to be done is simply for the President to comply with the Section 145 of the Constitution.
”The President needs to transmit to the National Assembly that he is either going on vacation or for whatever reason.
”However, the provision is yet to be implemented, hence Goodluck can‘t act as president.”
Mamora spoke to journalists in Lagos shortly after the Lagos caucus of the Action Congress in the National Assembly donated a bus to the party’s secretariat.
Asked whether Mamora‘s stand represents the position of the Senate, the spokesman for the upper chamber, Senator Ayogu Eze told one of our correspondents on phone, ”We will follow the provision of the constitution.”
Eze refused to speak further, directing our correspondent to ”go and read the constitution.”
Meanwhile, VP Goodluck had reportedly refused to sign the 2010 Supplementary Budget passed by the National Assembly early last week because he would not want to create a constitutional crisis by signing the document which he said was exclusive preserve of the president.
The VP was said to have insisted that he had no power to sign the budget because he was not an acting President.
Mamora who is the Deputy Minority Senate Leader said in clear terms that the inability to empower Goodluck as the acting president was hampering the business of governance in the country.
According to Mamora who is representing Lagos East District at the Senate, the president‘s prolonged absence in the country constitutes a moral burden even where the constitution does not prescribe how long the President can stay out of the country.
Mamora said, ”Even though the Constitution did not stipulate a time limit, but of course, morality dictates that in the interest of peace, progress and good governance, Mr. President ought to have complied with the provision of Section 145, which is to transmit to the National Assembly a letter conveying his mission.
”It is at that point now that the VP can now move in in acting capacity as President.”
The senator said that what would expose the whole problem would be when the budget is passed by the National Assembly awaiting the President‘s assent.
He said by that time, it would become obvious that there was a problem.
President Yar‘Adua left the country on November 23, 2009 on a medical trip to Saudi Arabia.
The presidency later announced that his doctors at the King Faisal Hospital in Jeddah named the president‘s ailment as acute pericarditis which means swelling of the membrane covering the heart.
The president‘s absence since 20 days ago has continued to generate controversy both within and outside the country with many individuals and groups calling for his resignation even as others asked that his VP should be empowered to act on his behalf.
The Nigerian Bar Association, for instance, had called for the resignation of Yar‘Adua whom the lawyers group said should abdicate power in order to pay attention to his failing health.
But the ruling Peoples Democratic Party said the issue of the president‘s health was being overblown and asked for prayers for him.
The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor on Friday in Abuja said, ”Let me use this medium to condemn in strong terms the negative utterances of some Nigerians over the health of our dear president.
“As a human being, it is not unusual for the President to be sick. The President‘s competence and ability to run the affairs of this nation is not in doubt. The PDP maintains that Mallam Yar‘Adua, GCFR, still remains our president.
“The good news is that our amiable President will return home soon. I therefore urge our detractors to stop playing God; rather, we should always pray for the quick recovery of the sick.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200912133452757 |

Our president and commander in chief has gone AWOL,
The VP is not fully in charge, and if news comming from Saudi is true, it will remain like this for long.
Some people will continue to protect their selfish interest, budget will not be signed, people will complain and there will be agitations here and there.
If US or any country, military, or a part of the country is interested in war, it is in time like these they succeed.
That's why I agree with beaf, these are not days of prayer warriors, these are days of taking our destinies in our hands, else we might be asking for what is bigger than us. |

debosky: If the information is muddled up, can it be relied upon and can it be regarded as doubtful - how can any evidence be regarded true and factual? She is discrediting the same evidence and claiming it is the basis for conclusions?
I'd rather believe a shoemaker's medical analysis than this nonsense. Your choice. And you are indeed entitled to it. Let's others make up their minds whether to believe her or not. |

She mentioned her source - 'muddled up information dished out by the demons in PDP'
I assume she has access to some of these demons in PDP. Anyway she described the information as being muddled up. She only tried to make the best analysis from the muddled up information. And she concluded that her conclusions are valid to the extent those informations are true. She has done no wrong. |

debosky: Where is the acknowledgment in that post of hers that she got this information and it may not be reliable - where is the 'may' usage? Instead she states categorically that the man is on life support! Analysis indeed - she is simply as self important upstart looking to make some noise and appear intelligent. . . .but realising she is likely talking nonsense, has to keep her name hidden else she'd be thoroughly disgraced. Now I understand you have a problem reading and understanding simple english. You dont worth my time. But for the benefit of others reading. Below is the quote of the 1st and the last lines of her piece. I just woke up to read this idiotic piece dished out to Nigerians. First, let me say, that beyond all reasonable doubt that if the diagnosis and the muddled up information dished out by the demons in PDP are true, then Mr. Yar'dua is not coming back to Nigeria, at least NOT on his feet. - - - - May God help us, and am genuinely praying, but it is not likely the man will come back. That is however, based on the premise that all what we have read is true. I thought English was simple. |
