Mad house! What a way to qualify this section even when we are only a mirror of the real society out there.

You made it look like the issues that gave birth to this 'tribalism' originated from Nairaland or Politics section. Currently, there are two major issues on national discourse that are along ethnic lines. One is the issue of Fashola 'deporting/relocating' people from Lagos to East and the other is the appointment of a Yoruba-babaloja at Ladipo, a market dominated by Igbos. NL Politics section didn't create these issues and there is no way these matters will be discussed in an open forum like this without people taking sides and defending their interests and positions (which many of you refer to as tribalism).

What we fight and try to stop are ethnic and personal insults that come in the heat of the debates, in which you as a member of the forum has a duty to report when you find any. The question I will like to ask you is; how many of these posts you find disgusting have you reported?

Every debate along government policies, party affiliations and ethnic lines are always very passionate and heated up because these are no fictions, but real issues that affect many people directly or indirectly. Except you want Nairaland to censor or ban every debate along ethnic line even when these matters are being discussed on other forums, else am opened to your suggestions on how to stop 'tribalism' here.

I told a friend towards the end of last season that I really dont want Arsenal to qualify for CL or anything, he thought my love for Arsenal was waning, but I know if that had happen it would have provided a reality check on whether we really need to renew Wenger's contract or not, and if we must he would have known he cant continue to do the same thing he has been doing for the past 7 years. Anyways its not over yet, lets see what he does this season, fingers crossed.

The negative medical consequences that exist for users of marijuana pale in comparison to the MASS DEATH caused YEARLY by alcoholics drinking themselves to death slowly or quickly, while also killing others through felony aggression or traffic accidents, while drunk. Conversely in North America and Europe today, medical patients suffering from myriad ailments ranging from cancer and diabetes to arthritis owe their very lives to the LEGALLY prescribed marijuana that they consume to alleviate otherwise overpowering symptoms of their conditions.

Show me one person on planet Earth who can produce a medical doctor's prescription card for whisky, wine or gin, and I will show you a liar, or at best a forger with a sense of humor. On the other side of the coin, medically prescribed marijuana today keeps alive tens of thousands of Americans, such that industrialized cultivation of the crop now generates multi-million dollar fortunes from which state governments reap huge tax dividends.

If there is a need to ban another widely used poison, as the price of legalizing marijuana, then let CIGARETTES and ALL nicotine-containing substances be outlawed, with TEN YEARS HARD LABOR for any person found smoking a cigarette in public. Yes sir. Ban the sale, possession and growing of tobbacco, and the world will be a FAR healthier place than it is now. Unike alcohol that can have token health benefits in MODERATE does, the medical or medicinal benefits of cigarettes are absolutely ZERO, and any society that declares tobacco use ILLEGAL would save billions of dollars in health-care costs, by eliminating that major killer of cigarette addicts worldwide.

Jakumo: When the cultivation of medicinal marijuana is legalized in Nigeria, a good many of the finger-pointers today heaping scorn on South West Nigeria will join the stampede of emergency farmers seeking arable land in Yoruba land, in the hopes of exploting the lucrative market in Ekiti Golden Bud, Ondo Haze, Abeokuta Train-Wreck, Lagos Lobotomy, Shomolu Super Skunk, Ajegunle Amnesia, and other soon-to-be legendary brand names of connoisseur-grade marijuana.

In the meantime, watch out for the folks who are most vocal in their condemnation of marijuana as a medicinal or recreational drug, for a good many of them do secretly fire up that wild-wood-weed the minute the coast is clear, even as they chastise other users in public discussions. Y'all ain't foolin' nobody ha ha ha.
