That's just d bitter reality we have in d country. D dichotomy removal d government has been doing are just paper work which are only effective in some government sectors, not at all in private sectors, except for those demeaning ones like private education sectors where most of them are only after taking advantage of d country unemployment situation, been ready 2 higher O'level holder and still pay them same salaries as the graduates (whether HND or Bsc) just 2 maximize their own profit. Bsc can never equate with HND, d earlier graduates of polytechnics admit that, d better. I'm always indifference whenever d issue of dichotomy removal pop up cos I know it wouldn't be effective in practical, but paper work. Let's even start from d entry level requirements, as much as jamb cutoff 4 polytechnics still don't equate with that of universities, there can never be equality between the issued certificates at both levels. As much as admission is as easy in polytechnics as 2 candidates switching 2 it just cos they don't wanna wait another year at home or sees it as alternative route, there can never be level ground 4 both. Even if d dichotomy removal has been effective, it would do very little 2 shape d people's orientation on dia disparity. Going through others submission is a prove 2 this. Uni graduates will always see their polytechnic counterparts as inferior. Government isn't d only problem in cases like this, but individual inclusive. Generally, there are little employment opportunities out there with lot of graduates 2 compete 4 them, so chances of HND holder securing any compare 2 Bsc holder is very slim. Most who choose 2 employ HND holder do so 4 their own selfish interest like having them underpaid while maximizing their efforts, reason they are much in contract works. I'm also an HND holder, but I've chosen 2 accept reality ever since I was in 4 my HND programme, I choose never 2 seek employment after my graduation, but get myself employ instead as I wouldn't be able 2 stand d reality out there. My certificate is even still with my school on purpose as I don't see myself needing it 4 now, should I go collect it later, it's just cos it's my right 2 have it and not 4 job hunting. Ignorance back then pushed me 2 option 4 polytechnic when Uni admission wasn't forthcoming and I regret it today, not cos of even job issue, but people orientation and mindset over it. On no account will I allow my offsprings go 2 polytechnic, even if it's 2 get them admitted in private Uni, I will by His grace. D only way HND holders (those who seek working 4 others) could compete with their Uni counterparts is through having PROBLEM SOLVING SKILL, without that, Employers are not ready 2 hear u convince them on why u got what 2 offer, unless those that wanna tk advantage of u. People dia are very hospitable nd respect CMs alot. As per social life, I ain't d social type nd it was no priority 4 me, but I did enjoy my stay dia 2 a large extent. somudo: Hmmm! This is so sad as you got to learn the hard way. Some customers know how to operate this POS Machines better than the POS Merchant him/herself, reason one need to be very careful and be a step ahead. Thou, one can't be � conscious, only God can protect us from the hand of these fraudsters. Someone narrated his experience up there as one of his customer on given the POS Machine to supply her pin, hide under the pretence of not seeing it clearly and go under a shade, then erase a zero, changing 80k to 8k with him (POS Merchant) not noticing until she left. We should just learn to always make sure the Machine doesn't hangon beyond normal when we give them (customers) to enter their PIN and also endeavour to check printout before issuing money out. As per getting to track or see the fraudster again, it will take luck, just count your loss and learn from your mistake. The ATM Card he dropped/forgot is obviously not his, probably stolen, so it's dangerous having such at your disposal, who knows the real owners might be hunting for it too, and should you decide to trace it to the Bank it belong to, you might be accosted as the offender should it has been reported to the Bank. 6 Likes |

@Op, Firstly, I will like 2 commend ur effort of been able 2 save such amount at d end of ur service year, but there are things u need 2 put into consideration b4 taking that courageous step of living ur parent house 2 venture into an advent journey in a strange land. I must be sincere with u, it wouldn't be an easy thing 2 do, but feasible. Base on d present country situation, d sum of 100k is a bit small 4 worthy establishment unless u av extra money u didn't disclose, but an humble start. So, planning 2 still rent house, probably shop as well, then d actual buz, are things I doubt such amount could comfortably cover. It would be good if u can find a family or friend living at ur intended relocation state 2 squat with 4 a start. Based on my own personal experience, I also choose not 2 return back home after my service year and changed location back in 2019 even thou I was able 2 save little more than d 100k, and despite d average cost of living in my new location (Ilorin), yet I couldn't pririotize renting apartment as I knew it would affect my intended buz, luckily for me thou, I have uncle there whose houses me, and was able 2 liased with a stranger who owns a shop around where my intended buz could strive and he unbelievably accepted me 2 come manage with him at his shop despite not knowing my source. It's over 2years in d line, I can comfortably rent a shop likewise house, but I still choose not 2 yet, due 2 what I av in plan. D situation defer Sir. Every business and Entrepreneurs also depend on clients/customers 2 run and sustain their businesses or services as they (customers/clients) are the life-wire of every establishment, even investment. SUPPLY would be meaningless without DEMAND. Why supply or produce something with zero demand when it's not that one intend using it for personal purpose. As far as d goal is 2 make profit, we will always depend on one another. The major difference between being an EMPLOYEE and ENTREPRENEUR is CONTROL. D former is been controlled while d later is in control. As a Freelancer, u are also an Entrepreneur, though u also depend on clients 2 sustain ur hustle, but u av liberty over who and who not 2 work for; when and when not 2 work; where and where not 2 work; when 2 deliver and when not 2. D control in decision making is always there, unlike being an employee where u will always work even when u are not fit 2, there is a level of restrictions over what u really want 2 do and what u are ask 2 do. U live on a NO WORK, NO PAY policy. U work 2 grow others while u remain stagnant or slowly progress. N.B: I'm open 2 correction as what I wrote up there are purely my opinion, not necessarily 100% true in all cases. |

Mine was borrowing my ex 20k out of d Allawee I was saving back in 2019, she was 2 return back 2 her own state of deployment after d 21-days in camp. She pleaded wif me 2 borrow her d money so she could get herself sm foodstuffs and cooking utensils claiming all those she went 2 meet failed 2 borrow her and a guy who promised her 2 come collect it resolved 2 request 4 sex 4rm her b4 he could borrow her, I was even pissed hearing such and coupled wif her crocodile tears like her life depend on it, I had 2 succumb 2 her plea. Even thou I couldn't get 2 transfer any sum above 5k per day as I was not having ATM Card then, I made sure I did d transfer on 4-consecutive days. Long story short, we would later had issue and broke up. She had 2 block me via Facebook and also ignore my calls till this day. The money isn't smtin I needed, but wouldn't want 2 let her av it as I felt emotionally and financially defrauded. If there is a way I could retrieve it back, I would, but if otherwise, I would just let go. Lesson learnt. 2 Likes |
