Car Talk › 11 Riding And Motorcycle Care Tips For Rainy Season by obafemee80(op):

It is always advisable to take so precautions before you plan to ride your machine in rainy weather as there are several factors that will not only affect the performance of the bike but will also make riding unsafe. Some of the serious issues that surface in rainy weather include slippery roads, pot holes, stagnant water, corrosion etc.

5 Most Important Safe Riding Tips For Rainy Season
Your bike has a number of parts which you need to take care of so we will discuss a couple of tips which you can follow:

1)The most important of all the is to get your bike serviced timely. You would never want your bike to stall in heavy rains so better not miss routine servicing and check-ups.

2)The next most crucial part of your bike is the brakes which should be in good condition. Worn out pads or liners reduce the efficiency of the brakes and can lead to disaster.
If your bike has drum brakes, get them cleaned from the inside and also replace the brake shoes/pads.
For disc brakes do get the discs checked and also verify the level of brake oil.

3)After talking about brakes, it’s the tyres which play a very important role. You cannot use bald or worn out tyres in rainy season, so if the rubber is worn off, get the tyres replaced. The treads on a tyre provide grip and disperse water so make sure the treads are deep enough and are not only in the centre position but on the sides as well. A minimum of 2-3 mm of tread depth is necessary.

4)Tyre pressure also makes a big difference when driving on wet surface so regularly check the tyre pressure and we recommend keeping it a little less than the recommended Tyre pressure (PSI) levels in dry conditions.

5)Lubricate all the necessary hinges and levers so that they move freely

6 Most Important Motorcycle / Bike Care Tips
1)If you drive your bike too much in the rain and are concerned about its colour getting faded, get a Teflon coating before the beginning of monsoons.

2)Another advise is to wear knee pads and a helmet and also a waterproof jacket.

3)If you have a bike which has an uncovered drive chain, then you must oil it properly and wash it as a lot of mud will get deposited when you will ride it.

4)When you stop your bike for a purpose or want to park it, make sure you park it under a shed and not under the shade of a tree.

5)If the parking area near your house is not a covered one, do cover your bike with a proper sized cover so that the components does not get corroded.

6)Once you reach your place after a dirty ride, do not forget to wash your motorcycle.

Car Talk › 13 Car Care Tips During The Rainy Season by obafemee80(op):

1)Check-up and servicing
Pre-Rainy season servicing is the most essential thing to do. Your car must have gone through scorching heat during long drives during the summer. Hence, it is important to make it ready to face clogged, watery roads in heavy traffic zones which come naturally with the rains. Ensure safe drive during the monsoons.

2)Keep an emergency kit handy
This includes a phone charger, a raincoat, a tow cable, a flashlight with an emergency flasher function (because the reflectorized early warning device can be hard to see in bad weather), and jumper cables. The last is bimportant, in case your battery dies due to the cold weather.

3)Check your battery
While a car battery can last up to five years, the rainy season in this country often cuts that down to just one or two. Cold, wet weather can stress your battery, and humidity can cause terminal corrosion and minor electrical grounds that can drain it overnight. If your car becomes harder to start, or the lights dim at idle, or if the battery shows signs of drying out or bloating, it's probably time to change. Spending for a new battery is a whole lot better than spending the night stranded in the rain.

4)Avoid skidding
Replace cracked tyres, check air pressure and make sure the wheels are properly balanced and aligned. This will prevent your car from skidding on a wet road. This is all the more necessary when the first shower arrives.

5)Check the brakes
Make sure that your car brakes are well-oiled and are working properly. You never know when you may have to hit the brakes on a wet, slippery road.

6)Frame protection from rust and corrosion
Your car’s metal frame protects the internal components from moisture. So keep it clean and scratch-free to avoid corrosion. As you are well aware, water corrodes metal.

7)Protect your car’s paint
Do get a wax coating done just before the r[ains hit, to protect your
cars' paint from the rain. Alternate wet and]] dry spells can cause the paint to fade and peel.

coolCheck your cars' headlights and taillights
Ensure that these are working properly as during a heavy downpour, visibility is poor, not only for you but also for the driver behind you.

9)Check for leaks
The rubber seals around the doors, windows, hood, trunk and even the taillights can come loose or degrade over time. Clean out any debris that gathers around these seals, and check for leaks and telltale signs of water pooling in odd places. Better to fix that leak under the taillight while it's small, rather than after you've found a swimming pool inside your trunk

10)Clean or change your windshield wipers as needed
Wipers should ideally be replaced every year. The rubber blades become dry, brittle and cracked over time, leaving distracting skips and streaks as they move across the glass. When buying replacement wipers, be sure to bring the originals with you to the store to ensure you buy replacements of the right length and with the proper connector clips.

11)Keep a portable vacuum cleaner handy
You cannot avoid that excess amount of water going inside your car during the rains. Mostly, the seat covers get affected by it. Prolonged dampness on the covers may cause foul smell and quality loss of the seat covers. To avoid it, vacuum-clean the seat to wipe away the dampness. Then put good absorbent tissues/papers on them. If you have a shaded place, keep the car doors open for few minutes to air-dry the interior and remove any smell.

12)Get a car perfume
Foul smell is literally a headache for the automobile lovers during the monsoon. Moisture creates mould which is not hygienic either. Humidity worsens the situation. In this case, always keep a good pleasant smelling perfume in the car. Check your carpets and mats for the odour.

13)Use old seat covers and mats especially for the Rainy Season
What’s the point in spoiling brand new expensive covers anyway? You can also remove the mats completely for the season.

Islam › 10 Signs Of Good Manners by obafemee80(op): 9:05pm On May 03, 2017
There is nothing which is heavier upon the balance than the good character-Sahih Muslim

We see Muslims who pray their prayers, give in charity and fast Ramadan, but their character is not what they are meant to carry.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) highlighted one of the key purposes of him coming to the world:

I have been sent to perfect good character.- Al-Muwatta 1614

Yusuf Ibn Asbat (may Allah be pleased with him) listed 10 signs-[Al-Ihyaa, vol.3, p.77 ] to know if you have good manners. Aspire to be one who has these traits:

1. LITTLE ARGUING

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for those who abandons arguments even if he is right- Sunan Abu Dawood 4800. Sahih

2. LISTENING WELL

3. AVOIDING SEARCHING FOR SHORTCOMINGS

Beware of suspicion, for it is the worst of false tales and don’t look for the other’s faults…- Sahîh Al Bukhari, Vol. 8 Number 717

4. COVERING MISTAKES

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

…Allah will make things easy for him on the Day of Resurrection; he who covers up (the faults and sins) of a Muslim, Allah will cover up (his faults and sins) in this world and in the Hereafter…- Sahih Muslim

5. FINDING EXCUSE

Umar Ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him):

Do not think badly of a word uttered by your brother, when you can find a good interpretation for it- Majmoo‘ Fataawa Ibn Baaz, 26/365

6. PATIENCE WHEN ANNOYED

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

…Whoever tries to be patient, Allah will give him patience, and no one is given a better or vaster gift than patience- Al-Muwatta – Hadith 58.2.7

7. BLAMING ONE’S OWN SELF

8. SEEING ONE’S OWN FAULTS RATHER THAN OTHER PEOPLE’S FAULTS

9. HAVING A BEAMING FACE WITH THE YOUNG AND THE OLD

Those who do not show mercy to our young ones and do not realize the right of our elders are not from us- Sunan Abu Dawood

10. SAYING KIND WORDS TO THOSE WHO ARE BELOW AND ABOVE ONE (WITH REGARDS TO RELIGIOUS KNOWLEDGE, RIGHTEOUSNESS, SOCIAL STATUS, AND SO FORTH)

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate for protection from bad manners and deeds:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من منكرات الأخلاق، والأعمال، والأهواء‏

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi, wal-a’mali, wal- ahwa’i

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations- At-Tirmidhi

Science/Technology › Re: How Crude Oil/Petroleum Is Refined by obafemee80(op):

Other Processes To Get More Of Desired Products

Cracking
Is the process whereby middle distillate, gas oil and residuum into primarily gasoline, jet and diesel fuels are converted by using a series of processing plants that literally “crack” large, heavy molecules into smaller, lighter ones.

Treating (Removing Impurities)
The products from the Crude Units and the feeds to other units contain some natural impurities, such as sulfur and nitrogen. Using a process called hydrotreating (a milder version of hydrocracking), these impurities are removed to reduce air pollution when our fuels are used.

Reforming
Much of the gasoline that comes from the Crude Units or from the Cracking Units does not have enough octane to burn well in cars.

The gasoline process streams in the refinery that have a fairly low octane rating are sent to a Reforming Unit where their octane levels are boosted.
ln the reforming process, hydrocarbon molecules are “reformed” into high octane gasoline components.

Quality Control
In the refinery’s modernly-equipped Laboratory, chemists and technicians conduct quality assurance tests on all finished products, including checking gasoline for proper octane rating.

Science/Technology › How Crude Oil/Petroleum Is Refined by obafemee80(op):

Petroleum refining processes are the chemical engineering processes and other facilities used in petroleum refineries (also referred to as oil refineries) to transform crude oil into useful products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline or petrol, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel oil and fuel oils.
A single barrel of crude oil can produces the following components, which are listed by percent of the barrel they constitute.
42% Gasoline
22% Diesel
9% Jet Fuel
5% Fuel Oil
4% Liquefied Petroleum Gases
18% Other products

.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYMWUz7TC3A

The Process
The process begins by drilling into the reservoir rocks the ground and extracting the crude oil; once extracted it is sent to one of the many refineries around the world.
In these refineries the crude oil is pumped through pipes into the fractional distillation tower.

Distillation i.e Seperation
The tower separates the crude oil by heating it through a boiler, and changing its state to a gas.
This gas is passed through a distillation column that becomes cooler with height. When certain gases reach the temperature that is the distinct temperature below the compounds boiling point, they condense into a liquid.
These liquids are then separated into their own distilling column at the various heights.

Operators control the refining processes using hi-tech computers located in control centers situated throughout the refinery.

Crude oil can be separated into seven different main distilling columns;
Residue (at 1050°F or higher)
Fuel Oil (at 650°F to 1050°F)
Diesel Oil (at 450°F to 650°F)
Kerosene (at 350°F to 450°F)
Naphtha (at 185°F to 350°F)
Gasoline (at 85°F to 185°F)
Butane, propane and lighter products (at 85° F or lower).

Separation of Compounds
The tower separates the compounds by heating up the mixture in the boiler; this breaks the mixtures bonds changing its state to a gas.
As the gas passes through to the distillation column, it comes in contact with different temperatures.
When the gas passes through the cool temperature just below the boiling point of the certain compound, it condenses to liquid.
This liquid is then separated into the distilling column at the height at which only the compound that changes into a liquid at this temperature will go into.
This separates the pure compounds into the different fractions of the tower.

Health › How The Heart Pumps Blood by obafemee80(op):
How Does Blood Flow Through the Heart?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHMmtqKgs50

The right and left sides of the heart work together. The pattern described below is repeated over and over, causing blood to flow continuously to the heart, lungs, and body.

Right Side of the Heart

-Blood enters the heart through two large veins, the inferior and superior vena cava, emptying oxygen-poor blood from the body into the right atrium of the heart.
-As the atrium contracts, blood flows from your right atrium into your right ventricle through the open tricuspid valve.
-When the ventricle is full, the tricuspid valve shuts. This prevents blood from flowing backward into the atria while the ventricle contracts.
-As the ventricle contracts, blood leaves the heart through the pulmonic valve, into the pulmonary artery and to the lungs, where it is oxygenated and then returns to the left atrium through the pulmonary veins.

Left Side of the Heart

-The pulmonary veins empty oxygen-rich blood from the lungs into the left atrium of the heart.
-As the atrium contracts, blood flows from your left atrium into your left ventricle through the open mitral valve.
-When the ventricle is full, the mitral valve shuts. This prevents blood from flowing backward into the atrium while the ventricle contracts.
-As the ventricle contracts, blood leaves the heart through the aortic valve, into the aorta and to the body.

-The left and right atria are smaller chambers that pump blood into the ventricles.
-The left and right ventricles are stronger pumps.
-The left ventricle is the strongest because it has to pump blood out to the entire body.
When your heart functions normally, all four chambers work together in a continuous and coordinated effort to keep oxygen-rich blood circulating throughout your body.
Your heart has its own electrical system that coordinates the work of the heart chambers (heart rhythm) and also controls the frequency of beats (heart rate).
