Do this one to Kanu and in 3 weeks, you'll only be hearing of him in BBC Hausa.

datola: So Buahari forgot Pastor Adeboye has influence on the electorate when they passed the law? They now remembered after the deed has been done?
This Fayose self!
For your information and the gullible ones, the code was implemented during GEJ era. When GEJ was confronted, he pointed that the man at the helm is a Redeem(ed) pastor. The Obazee was once accused of sexual harassment by one his senior staff members who's also a RCCG pastor's wife. May be thagt's why he was suspended or resigned from being a pastor.
The issue is more of power tussle within RCCG. Read Mr Adegboruwa's article of yesterday, another Redeemed pastor. Most of the pastors want to fly private jets around the world and and have unfettered access to church money.
That is the result of church building their treasure on earth. They display so much wealth and pay lip service to soul winning and service to mankind as admonished by our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is an abomination for men of God to bully people around with body guards and armed security men. Nothing Christ-like again about Nigerian church. The glory people see, desire and they want to die for is money, money and more money.
The difference between them and wicked politicians is the difference between 5 and 6.
Politician don't respect them, they only respect their influence on their naive followers for votes. Isn't it surprising that every laws and codes passed by GEJ, are being activated by PMB.The last time i checked Pastor Adeboye is not the founder of RCCG and he isn't bothered with Church money. Why dont you speak for your Jihadist fighters and leave Christians alone . |

Democracy only offers the best of available options n in Nigeria or Africa at large no black man or woman is willing to offer anything close to paradise.
I do believe a time will come that Africa will have charismatic leaders such as Mandela, Lee Kuan Yew n so on instead of the stream of incompetent morons we have governong us ATM but untill then we can only hope while some pray. seguntijan: "I could not resist talking about this, early today. The number of registered churches in Nigeria is 23,216 according to the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. Note that these churches have branches. There may be over 2,000,000 documented church branches in Nigeria. Add to this, all the Mosques and undocumented religious houses all over Nigeria, we may be talking of 5,000,000. It calls for concern. Our major business in Nigeria presently is religion or faith marketing. Yet this business is tax free and enjoy free entry. Juxtapose this with the production base in Nigeria, you will see why we are a poor nation with all forms of recession. Last year there are just slightly about 1000 manufacturing companies still hanging out there in Nigeria. Many of them are even threatening closure. Some of the old factory premises have been converted to churches and Mosques. It is sad. These companies who produce what we eat and use in this country pay tax and go through harrowing experience to do business. They cannot afford the limousines, luxury homes and private planes these faith leaders use, yet they are the ones that pay tax which we use to build roads that these faith preachers travel. We have got many things wrong in this country. Faith without work and expecting miracles is definitely a mirage. Time to have a personal relationship with God and focus on productive work. I am a Christian and a believer but I find it difficult to accept what is going on. The starting point is to bring all churches, mosques and religious houses to the tax bracket, tax religious organizations as we tax our companies. Give them tax deductions/benefits where they spend on charity as applied to businesses Nigeria. According to one of my Wards whom I am proud to have mentored "Nigeria would have been such a great country to live in if the passion with which churches are created is the same way enterprises are established and industries developed by individuals. With this, meaningful and gainful employment would have become a thing of the past. In a sharp departure from what I was thought in my home when I was growing up, I suddenly realized that nobody talks about industry and hard work anymore in Nigeria but miracle. It is so painful that the teachings of hard work, honesty and industry have been replaced with the teachings of prosperity via a divine means in my dear country. Professor Alan Rugman, of blessed memory, thought me at Henley Business School that key factors of economic growth in any country are the presence of viable industries and strong competition within the industries. We must all imbibe the spirit of hard work, industry, patriotism and honesty for us to grow as a nation" That is the view of one of the 24 young and promising Business Managers that I mentor. It is a food for thought as we start the new year." There are also big and super rich Churches in US, Korea e.t.c . But the difference here is that their unemployment rate is low compared to Nigeria. Most people see rushing to Church everyday are Jobless. Most of Churches also got lots of employees who are been taxed by the government. |

KingstonDome: Since the inception of the Buhari- led administration, there have been calls for restructuring. This current system being practiced in Nigeria has failed the whole country. The whole country is on fire. What is the way out?
Regionalism is the answer. It has worked for us before but the only defect is that it promoted ethnic loyalty but on the contrary, regionalism brought development into the country. The three regions were highly competitive and this brought about rapid development.
The West till today enjoys the legacy regionalism gave the country. Majority of the residents of the West are highly educated which has and is still bringing unprecedented growth.
The flairs of the type of regionalism practiced during the 1st republic should be worked on and Nigeria should be given an upgraded version.
This current system of governance in practice only makes the politicians lazy. Most of the states are in financial trouble because of the failure of past and successive governments to prepare for the worst. With an improved regional system, the problem of laziness would be curbed to a large extent.
It was under regionalism that Nigeria was a pride to Africa. Do not also forget that when Nigeria was practicing regionalism, there was no oil yet discovered. Now that we are in a world whereby oil is falling, regionalism is the answer to Nigeria's wake up call.

Dongreat: Yea it's all about power and money. A man who is wealthy might not be powerful but one that wield both wealth and power is a god. Religion leaders such as bishops, imams, chief hoodoo doctors etc are Demi gods and "god" to many people because they don't have only wealth but their followers are ready to do anything for them in return for divine rewards. In case you don't know the pope is as powerful as the "Queen of England", if not even more powerful than her. The pope has more than 1 billion followers ( who believes in better lives in heaven) and millions are fanatics. He may decide to bring about another crusade if he's drunk with power and yes getting a gun and weapon of mass destruction nowadays is as easy as purchasing a toilet paper. The power of the pope is controlled and checked by the Vatican Law hence his tenure is limited.
Now imagine "Rev King" ( the convicted man on death role for touching his member) has followers as that of the pope, many of which are of course fanatics. Yes, within you is a sense of fear from the chaos that may arise if he's criticized and he (rev king) decided to show you how drunk a mad man can be.
I hope you understand now. Well that's a wrong move. The only way the handle big Churches, is to work with their Holy books. Note: the POPE don't have any tenure limit, |

Dongreat: Now this is a sure bet about this man, "Inconsistency". I just supported him on the other thread and here disagreeing with him. Churches are religious bodies registered in any government as a NGO with no aim of profits. One will agree with me that nowadays it's not the case as the overseers of this churches are ranked among wealthiest men in the world with toys ranging from private jets to edifice mansions. If left unchecked these GOs (with massive wealth at their disposal and enormous supporters) will become very powerful that they can decide the affairs of a Nation resulting to chaos in that particular country. In other to checkmate their (GOs) affairs and bring about normality, their must be a rule deciding on the exit of GOs after a stipulated time and no transfer of office to family members. I support this move by the government as it's guaranteed to prevent ill actions from a potential mad and power drunk GO. Imagine a GO with fanatics members of about 80 million adults. That just one man with such power and guess what he can do with such power?? Yea you fears are as good as mine.
Ps: Before you quote me please think out of the box and don't behave like an average Nairalander than quote out of religion beliefs, tribal relationships and political parties. linearity: This announcement/clarification leaves more questions unanswered:
Is Pastor Adeboye in retirement? Since this law appear to only put a term limit on church leaders in retirement?
If this is the case, he must have retired almost 20 years ago, yet there is no public data to confirm that he has retired and from church activities, he appear to have been in full control of the church for the past 20 years.
Before, you guys start blasting me, I am not criticizing or doubting the decision. I am just airing out some logical inference questions; so if you would rather assist with an answer or a better logical insight, it will be greatly appreciated. He is not Retired. He remains the GO(internationally) But the new law simply stated Nigeria Pastors can't lead their Church for more than 20 years. Which means National Overseer term limit is 20years. And the government will recognize the National Overseer as the head of the Church in Nigeria. |
