These are the kinds of policies of live and let live that are needed. Much as we condemn all these violence, the governor of Benue State was very immature in handling the whole issue. Banning an unforgiving set of people unilaterally, without exhaustive consultation outside the state or thought about possible consequences was the immediate cause of the violence. Matured minds like David Mark would never be that careless.
Nonsense! Absolute nonsense! The fulani marauders already killed thousands upon thousands ever before the banning of open grazing; now the devils are back to do their known stock in trade and you claim it's because of grazing ban?.... Kindly enlighten me on what is different between the killings pre-grazing ban and the killings now?

I have a piece of land on which I allowed you to graze your flock. You take advantage of my welcoming gesture and harm my family members and destroy my properties. I get fed up and then expel you from my land. What exactly is wrong in that?... Do I no longer have ownership or authority over what I can use my own land for?

Can you all see the dummies we have as leaders? Can we all see that Buhari is nothing but a plague to Nigeria and Nigerians?

Can you all see that these people would rather continue to give these herdsmen rooms to kill by blaming Jonathan? I am very sure Jonathan is responsible for the accident Yusuf had. In short, he bought him the power bike just so he can kill himself angry
There's a very simple and commonsensical reason why the current govt always makes comparisons with Jonathan; and it's because the loudest critics of the govt almost ALWAYS criticise by unconsciously relating every issue with GEJ amd 2015 elections.

If terrorist herdsmen equally killed so many under GEJ, let's be honest here, what do you expect the current govt to respond when its loudest critics always allege that herdsmen are killing today cos a fulani man is president?

Not exactly a statement tjat should be made by a govt official at this sensitive time though...

Sorry maybe I got the 52% figure wrong, can you kindly remind me what the correct FG's cut is in the revenue formula?...

Regarding power, the thread talks about huge sums of money being owed road contractors, it also talks about the bulk of the debt being inherited from the previous administration. Someone raised a question asking what all the large sums of money spent by the last admin was spent on seeing that most contractors were still being owed. Another person responded that a chunk of the money was spent building power stations. It was at that point I came in and mentioned that over $8B was spent by the last admin on power specifically, in addition to the $16B spent by OBJ, yet Nigeria still hasnt seen any considerable improvement in power supply. I dont remember mentioning anywhere that power has now improved.

He built rail lines , power plants ,Paid subsidy which we refused him to remove, fought boko haram which northen leaders refused to condemn and Ameachi and co went to court to share the rest
The rail was built with a loan (which Nigeria is still paying for today), over $8billion was spent in the power sector (but Nigerians didnt see any power improvement), the chunk used for bokoharam war was looted by evil men in the corridors of power (we seem to have forgotten how soldiers kept lamenting of lack of common bullets), 36 state governors (not Amaechi) asked GEJ to release the share of ECA belonging to states cos GEJ was clandestinely dipping his hands into the funds for God knows what; at the end, FG still retained almost 52% of the ECA funds which it eventually still blasted on ghost projects, so that your Amaechi excuse is pointless.

So then, what exactly was all the money used for? Okay sorry I forgot to mention, Nigeria became the private jet sales capital of the world in 2013/2014 (even the president at the time bragged about the exploding number of PJs in Nigeria).

How is it inconsequential?

If Buhari had done it, would you term it inconsequential?

Give Yar'Adua his dues. He nipped a disaster in the bud. Unfortunately, his hands were tied when it came to the NIPP. I'm certain he would have axed OBJ's flawed plan, and we wouldn't have had to spend $20+b to generate 2500MW.

What you termed inconsequential could have been abhorrently costly if Yar'Adua wasn't diligent.

It's like saying if Buhari did due diligence on GEJ's ATA and found it to be shambolic, trashes it, then setup a workable plan. Then what Buhari did would be inconsequential.

I don't know why you like to sound ret*rded.

-Lord
Look mister, I promised myself not to ever bother engaging you on this forum anymore cos I realised you are nothing but a troll.

So kindly carry on; you win, I lose, OBJ didnt initiate the railway modernisation masterplan, and he never negotiated any deal with the Exim Bank, Yaradua initiated it all... Bye!

LordAdam16:
The contracts OBJ signed was not the contract used for the actual project. OBJ's contract was trashed by Yar'Adua. Yar'Adua worked out another contract from the ground up. Read the article again.

-Lord
OBJ originated the project, brought in the chinese and negotiated the loan deal with the Chinese EXIM bank for the Lagos to Kano standard gauge rail line of which the Abuja to Kaduna stretch is just a part if it. Whether the contract was reversed or revamped or revived or redrawn, that's inconsequential and doesnt in any way change the story.
PoliticsRe: Whose ‘Handiwork’ Is Kaduna-Abuja Rail? Obasanjo Or Jonathan? by obailala(m): 3:18pm On Jan 08, 2018
Facts of the matter:
1. OBJ conceived the idea and signed the loan contracts.

2. GEJ paid the counterpart funds and the Chinese came in and executed the project. So in summary, going by Nigeria's political logic, GEJ is simply the one who built the Abuja to Kaduna rail.

3. PMB paid off the final compensation sums and other miscellaneous sums and commisioned the project.

It is worthy of note however that with Nigeria only providing only about 47% of the total project cost at the time, PMB and other successive administrations are still the ones paying off the 53% loan chunk for the project. However, if PMB wants any of the praise (according to Nigerian political logic), then his government should try and expedite the Lagos - Ibadan track which he started.

PoliticsRe: Rice Production In Nigeria Hits 15 Million Tonnes — Bursted by obailala(m):
yanshDoctor:
i want to expose the government lies and deceit. let do the simple arithmetic together.

1 Metric tonnes is equivalent to 1000kg

now let divide the 1000kg with 50kg, that's a bag of rice.

1000 ÷ 50 = 20.

we are talking about 20 bags of rice here as one metric tonnes.

the government claimed to have produce 15,000,000 metric tonnes for 2017.

15,000,000 × 20 = 300,000,000

that's about 300 million bags of rice.
@Op, standing back and looking at those figures, i.e. 300 million bags of 50kg rice, it sounds absolutely incredulous. At first I thought to myself, 'there must be another way in which this should be calculated; it cant just be so straightforward cos 300million bags makes no sense'. But upon some google searches, I realised it was said even years ago that Nigeria's yearly consumption is about 6.1 million metric tonnes.
http://sunnewsonline.com/nigeriall-meet-6-1m-tonnes-rice-demand-this-year-cbn/

Hmmm.. that number sounds incredulous too. 6.1 million metric tonnes means 122 million bags of rice; that is to say a single Nigerian consumes more than half a bag per year?

Anyway, I bumped into another report which sort of confirms your calculations; 100 million bags.

‘Nigeria consumes 100m 50kg bags of rice’
http://thenationonlineng.net/nigeria-consumes-100m-50kg-bags-of-rice/

This sounds totally incredulous, but in the absence of further statistics, do we have a choice but to just take in these figures as they are?... By the way, these figures are from both the CBN, the world bank, the former government and the current government; if all these people/institutions agree on the figures, I dont think I know better.

With the explosion of rice production lately, I dont think it's impossible for Nigeria's rice production to have well exceeded its local consumption demand of 100million bags. But just like some persons have mentioned on this thread, a lot of farmers still prefer to export their rice as they make more profits from export than local sales. That must explain why the local rice hasn't flooded the markets. Also, importers still smuggle in foreign rice cos imported rice gives them more profit, and many Nigerians still demand the foreign rice.

How is the Hredsmen issue not political?
If it is not political, then what is it?

You see a massive escalation of attacks with little federal attention , and you say it is not political? Are you blind or just a conscienceless sycophant?

How are you going to solve it if not through political means.?

Lai muhammed said IPOB is more dangerous than fulani herdsmen, and your say it is not political.?

I pity the ignorant folks on this forum who takes you people at face value. Thank God your types are not the only people in Nigeria.
Herdsmen vs farming community clashes, Ijaw vs Itsekiri, Tiv vs Jukun, Ife vs Modakeke, Aguleri vs Umuleri battles etc. All the battles listed were political, with warring factions contesting for one thing or the other (usually land, or a market etc). But there's a clear difference between something being 'political' and when some set of people are desperately trying to 'politicise' it. When I say 'politicise' in this context, I mean trying to twist the story to fall within their myopic APC vs PDP narrative.

Like I mentioned earlier, the herdsmen crisis did not start in 2015, it only started getting more media coverage then because boko haram attacks which overshadowed it before had dwindled, it was getting worse (seeing that it wasn't treated) and thirdly, people saw a good opportunity to play politics with it as the new president was fulani.

https://iiardpub.org/get/JPSLR/VOL.%202%20NO.%201%202016/FULANI%20HERDSMEN.pdf
The paper above talks about how fulani herdsmen attacks had claimed up to 3000 lives between 2010 and 2014, and not only was this never tackled by the government, it wasn't even reported at all by the media and the people of the middle belt suffered it all alone.

Now this brings us back to my original comment on the 'politicisation of herdsmen attacks'. The person I responded to clearly and ignorantly labelled the people of Benue as 'fools' for voting Buhari (instead of GEJ) in 2015; he also alleged blindly that that led to the upsurge of herdsmen attacks. Now if it is established that the herdsmen crisis existed and wasn't tackled by government before 2015, does it make any sense calling the people 'fools' for voting out the government that didnt do anything to secure their lives?... Does it still make any sense tying herdsmen issue to 2015 election?... Hopefully you now get a clearer picture on what I meant by 'politicisation'
