Did you read the article at all?

It is not the Eko Atlantic that is at risk but the surrounding islands (Lekki and Snake Islands for e.g.).
The investors won't care.much about that so long as Eko Atlantic is protected.
But that's still the same thing we say, the eko atlantic wall is meant to protect the already built up Lagos Island which was being eaten up rapidly by the ocean. What would you have rather had the masterminds do?.... Allow the ocean to swallow up the already built-up economic centre of V.I because you want to save Snake island?..

While it's always a difficult thing to fight nature, what would you rather have man do?... Sit and watch as nature swallows him?... Should the Lagos govt. had stood and watched as V.I is swallowed?... Like I said before, even though the response of these things are difficult to predict and engineer, I'm sure a lot of civil, marine and environmental studies must have been done before the commencement of the project. For now, we can all only be optimistic.

If mentality doesn't change with age, then she should be ready to be a trophy wife (or perpetual side-chick) while the real wife will be somewhere in the house doing number 1 - 3. There's always a way to work these things out.

PoliticsRe: Century Power Begins 2000mw Power Plant Construction In Anambra by obailala(m): 1:48pm On Mar 20, 2017
greatnation2:
Century Power Limited, a subsidiary of the Obijackson Group, owners of Nestoil Limited, plans to start the construction of a-2000megawatts (Mw) thermal power plant in Anambra State, it was learnt.

The power plant, which will be sited at Okija in Anambra State, has been structured in such a way that the first phase, which will give an output of 465Mw and will commence operation in 2018.

Its Assistant General Manager (AGM), Group Business Development, Mr. Simeon Tor-Agbidye, told The Nation that the firm is tidying up arrangement for gas supply to the power plant from the East-West gas pipeline also known as the Obiafu/Obrikom – Oben (OB3) gas pipeline. The gas will be taken from the eastern part of the pipeline.

He also noted that a subsidiary of the Obijackson Group – Energy Works Technology Limited, is fabricating part of the topside facilities of Total’s Egina floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

He said: “A few weeks ago, we had a sail off for the Oil Loading Terminal (OLT) piles for the project. We sailed them off to South Korea where they will be integrated on the FPSO. We have finished that.

“We are at the final stages of completing K2s pipeline for Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). The project is an engineering, procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the 40km x 20 inches export pipeline to re-route Kolo Creek gas to Soku Gas Plant.

“We are also progressing smoothly with the OB3 pipeline. Obiafu/Obrikom–Oben is an EPC contract for the 64.5km x 48 inches gas pipeline project. We will soon complete that too. He explained that the scope of OB3 was actually split between Nestoil and Oilserv,” he said.

Tor-Agbidye said while Nestoil is coming from the West, Oilserv is coming from the East. He said: “One of the major achievements we have accomplished on this project is being able to surmount the challenges of the terrain. Coming from the West, we had some of the most difficult terrain crossing several rivers. We have crossed these rivers successfully with the innovative horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology with our client, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Our subsidiary, NestHak HDD Limited is an expert in the technology and only company in Nigeria that has 100 per cent success in the job.”

“Few days ago we completed the crossing of the Ashe River, and currently we are looking to the crossing of the River Niger. We will drill under the River Niger and pull a pipe through so that it doesn’t lie on the water and constitute hazard to shipping and other users of the river. We will lay pipes under the River Niger. It is almost two kilometers. It looks small but the way it is done is not an easy feat.
Nice one!... Would have been nicer if this was a coal plant though; gas wahala in this country isn't encouraging at all and those idle coal mines need to be revived for people to feed.

Meanwhile if only the DISCOs can just do their freaking job properly, there would be a mad scramble by investors to build power plants across the federation. Power supply is a very lucrative business worldwide but conditions in Nigeria make it unattractive so everyone typically waits for the first person to bell the cat before others follow with a mad rush.

Kudos to Prof Nnaji for pioneering this, some useless litigations have delayed the take-off of Geometric Power but fortunately, I hear the legal issues have all been sorted out now and the plant would start operations next month. I'm sure when Nnaji begins to reap the billions, other investors would begin to lose sleep.

When will Africans learn? The westerners didn't get to where they are today by outpacing their shadows.

Nigeria is not deficient in land. Instead of reclaiming land from the ocean why not channel that time/energy/resources into proper drainage and development of the already inhabited areas? Now look at the potential damage well meaning citizens are being predisposed to.

Well, all the best for eko Atlantic.
LRNZH:
This is why Africa is still in the doldrums of underdevelopment. The project has gone far ahead already. Is it not beneficial to both the investors, the government and the people of Lagos to understand the potential impact of such "seascaping" and be prepared to tackle the flooding when the prediction happens?

Lalasticlala, you dey see these our people sef?
The main purpose of Eko Atlantic was to prevent the ocean from swallowing the entire VI; a disaster which was rapidly unfolding prior to 2006. Eko Atlantic in itself is a barrier wall to prevent the ocean encroachment. I wouldn't know, but I'm sure I've read somewhere that the land being reclaimed today is previous land which was eroded by the ocean over the years because there wasn't a proper embankment; and with the current embankment put in place, it somehow gets to divert the ocean surge away from the city (as should have always been the case).

I'm not an expert but dont you think your concerns must have been exhaustively considered during the conceptual and detailed design phases of this project?... Would investors just sink billions of dollars without giving these things a thought?

Does awarding contract on paper build a road or does releasing the money for the job fix the road?...

After awarding the contract, did GEJ release the money meant for the road to be fixed?... and if he did, what happened to the money?

You claimed that Buhari came in and stopped the contracts, please remind us of how much money GEJ released for this road contract in his 2015 budget?.... Having in mind that in the 2015 capital budget, the ministry of Works had less than N20 billion for projects across the entire nation?

Now if money was not budgeted to pay contractors building the road in 2015, how were the contractors supposed to work? what were they supposed to work with?.. How come you now blame Buhari when the owed contractors abandoned the site but you glorify GEJ at the same time?... Can't you see the bizarreness of your hypocrisy?

I understand this story is peddled because you love GEJ but for once in your life, quit the self deceit and kiss the truth. GEJ ruled for 5 years, next to nothing was done about this road. Then it gets to the tail end of his administration and then he awards the contract (on paper) without releasing required funds; how on earth was the road supposed to be built?... Meanwhile, OBJ also award that contract exactly like GEJ, so since you claim that 'awarding contract' is a virtue, why aren't you also praising OBJ?
PoliticsRe: The CBN New Forex Policy Not Sustainable- Doyin Okupe by obailala(m): 10:09pm On Mar 19, 2017
360metrosports:
The new Forex policy of the CBN as directed by the federal executive recently is not sustainable, and may actually limit national economic growth and development. Its present salutary effect of shoring up the value of the naira is at best palliative with no long term socioeconomic benefit to the Nigerian people.
Nigeria, in the best of time earns between $20-$25B annually from crude oil sales after all deductions and dues.

This amount is not a lot of money for a country of nearly 200m people. Especially if one views it against the fact that Wall Mart an American global supermarket on a public holiday sometimes this year made sale of about $40B in one day! While McDonalds a burger company has an annual budget of over $100B.Meanwhile Nigeria, its citizens and rulers live under a false notion that Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, especially, oil, when, without oil, Brazil(population about 200m) earns close to $80B from export of sugar and ethanol, alone, annually All from tilling their soil.

Currently the CBN since its new intervention has spent close to $1.4B to bring the value of the naira down. Meanwhile there is no statistical evidence that prices of goods and services have dropped correspondingly. So who is benefiting?
Beneficiaries are elite patents like me, who were at the verge of withdrawing our children home from schooling abroad. Others are former colleagues of the CBN governor, the bankers, and rent seekers licensed by the CBN as bureau de change operators. Others are real and fake manufacturers who collect Forex, some, under false pretenses of importing needless raw materials.

By the end of this year if the CBN must maintain its intervention, we would have committed about $5B (or 20% of our total inflow from oil) or more to this obnoxious scheme.

I am not absolutely condemning this intervention, but I am stating that it is not a permanent solution to our Forex dilemma. We must as a nation stop employing "knee jerk" solutions to deep rooted economic problems.

Government must have a focused economic policy which must clearly be made to target a growth and developmental objective. These policies in the process of their implementation may bring some hardships, change of attitude, which we must of necessity endure. If we must employ palliatives as we are doing with this new Forex policy, it must be with rational timelines, just as a prelude to our ultimate developmental objective.

In south Africa they are also going through similar devaluation process, but the life of the average citizen to a large extent is insulated the economic pressure the average Nigerian face here.

The average elite south African does not need to send his child ten child then abroad for quality education. When he falls I'll he does not need medical treatment abroad. South Africans grow their foods and manufacture building materials locally from locally sourced raw materials. The cars they ride are mostly made locally.

I cannot in good conscience blame the current anomalous Forex debacle on this administration alone. This is a malaise we should have addressed over the last 20yrs.
But the fact that this regime itself that came in on the promise of change is yet to show signs it has a deep understanding of this issues, nearly two years after, is deeply worrisome.

We need to build and strengthen our educational institutions such that our elites will no longer need scarce Forex to pay for their children's school fees abroad.

We need world class health institutions that will guaranty that our leaders do not need to rush abroad for all medical emergencies and chronic illnesses.

We need policies that will allow non essential industries requiring importation of 100% of their raw materials to die and encourage the establishment of industries with very high local raw materials contents.

Devaluation by itself may not be absolutely undesirable, provided it can be used as instrument to create wealth, reduce poverty , create jobs and improve the living standard and well being of our teaming population.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Dancing "Shoki", "Bobo" And Others Inside The Church A Sin? by obailala(m): 4:14pm On Mar 19, 2017
Fairgodwin:
YES!
Sentiments aside, how can you bring a worldly dance into the church? You're directly or indirectly polluting the sanctuary - it might sound absurd but it's the truth.

In summary: you don't bring the world into the church but rather, you take the church (in)to the world!
Can you please enlighten me on what 'worldly dance' means and what 'heavenly dance' is?

I have never been to heaven, so I have no clue what the dance in heaven looks like. All over the world, different cultures have their different dance steps; if a South African man dances, it is definitely different from the dance of a Russian. Likewise if a Nigerian man dances, his dance would be expected to be something native to Nigeria.

So once again, what exactly is a worldly dance and what is a heavenly dance?... Because when I apply a bit of my local sense to this, my mind tells me that every single dance we have in the world today has earthly origins and is native to one place or the other. So how do I spot which dance is from heaven?
RomanceRe: I Am Impotent & Frustrated by obailala(m): 4:03pm On Mar 19, 2017
helpforever:
I saw a post about a woman complaining that her sister married an impotent man. I smiled, the man probably knew he had an issue and still went ahead and married. I also have this issue and its really bothering me for over 5 years. Mine is complicated and I think its spiritual.

It all started in 2011 when I was 20 and was ready to have sex. I went to a popular brothel in Lagos with a friend to try it out.
Though I was very nervous because I was a virgin and my heart was beating very fast.

We actually went in and two women approached us. A young woman of about 28 and one of about 40.

I am my other virgin friend had eye on the one of about 28 cause she was very beautiful. My friend immediately held on to her. The other one of 40 now held on to me that I should carry her lets go do it. I angrily said "You be my mama mate na", she got angry and left.

Then the younger one said, if I and my friend wants, we can take turns with her.

We left for her room. I entered first and was very nervous and sluggish even in removing my cloth.

She said, "e be like say u be virgin...so na me go disvrigin" you. She started touching my di*k, but it didn't get hard.

Time started to waste and I got tired and asked her to refund my money. She started shouting that its not possible, that the fact that my dick did not rise is none of her business. I asked that my friend should use the money and attempt, she said no. that he must bring his own money.

We left the building and started the arguments outside. Other prostitutes came to her aid and started asking what was wrong. She explained to them that I tried to have sex with her and my thing did not rise and now I want my money back, they started shouting and said its not possible that we should better get out of her.

At one corner, the older woman of about 40 that I earlier rejected started giving me the "ntoor" look and was saying "You see your life"

I got very scared and left for home immediately.

I tried to watch porn to see if it will get up, I can't really remember if it did.

Long and short, I have not been able to have sex since then. I have not even had sex in my life. I have never tried to have sex with a real girl before, so I won't embarrass myself. I have never had a girlfriend. Though girls keep flocking around me, since I am doing well both academically and business wise, but I never attempt to have sex with them and they keep wondering whats wrong with me. One of the unilag girls that seduced me and I did nothing concluded that I was impotent because she feels no man in the world would have resisted her seduction since she was very hot.

I have tried to have sex 3 more times, with prostitutes, but still same thing happens. No erection

In 2012, I spent the whole year going to church everyday. Nothing happened. I have stopped now and accepted my fate.

Only my best friend knows about this, he keeps saying its not a spiritual condition but medical condition due to the fact that I started
masturbating right since I was 17.

He says I might have had the issue right before the prostitute encounter. Sometimes he says that it is a psychological condition.

But the thing is, how can a young boy of 20 then have Erectile dysfunction due to masturbation.
Many young boys masturbate and nothing happened to them.

I was sad for a while, but now it seems I have accepted my fate. This issue have made me focus on my studies and business and now, at 26. I have finished my BSC, and my MSC

Whenever I am Hot, I masturbate and I think that has worsened my issue. I have been masturbating since 2011 when this happened

Lots of order thing happens in between that confuses me. Like 2 years after the prostitute encounter, when I was in my 3rd year, one beautiful edo girl who really loved me was making out with me and flirting around me and I got a rock solid erection 100%. Very hard. Also, in 2014. A girl who liked me came to my house and she was flirting with me, though she didn't plan on having sex with me. Only the flirting alone made me hard. The erection was 70% hard. But then, those are the only occurrences.

Whenever I watch porn, I get semi erection - say about 60% hard.

Whenever I jerk my joystick, it gets hard - about 80% and within minutes, it deflates again.

Lot of different things have happened along the line which is too much to type. Long and short, I don't get erections when I wakeup again. I used to before all this issues.

Or is it the excess sugar I take, or the belly fat I have gotten due to the way I eat carelessly and spend on myself. (Since I don't have any woman to cater for) that is the cause.

Is it spiritual, medical or psychological?

Is it due to masturbation? Is it an infection?

Because I can remember in late 2012 or early 2013. When I tried to urinate, I had and felt a sharp pain.

I happened for about 2 days and stopped by itself.

I am getting older and my mother is already reminding me about marriage. I don't think I will marry until this issue is resolved. I can't
subject any woman to emotional pain.

At some point, I thought I was gay, but I am in no way attracted to men. But I am attracted to women. I tried watch transgender porn to confirm if I was gay (since I couldn't stand real gay porn). I actually got aroused and had a mild erection. But come on, transgenders are women who just have a joystick.

I have put up my issues on a foreign site (because other people who have put up their problems on nairaland gets abused, mocked, insulted and bullied) and I was advised by the whites to see a doctor and counselor. They didn't even understand what I meant by spiritual issue. But they have been very concerned and helpful

I don't need to see any counselor because my case would confuse who ever I tell.

I have been living in pains. No sex life and no real social life. I keep falling out with female friend because I don't make any move towards them.

I keep falling out with male friends, because they keep wondering "why this their guy no dey nack woman like them". They feel I am weird because they 100% know I am not gay and wonder why a normal guy will be avoiding women like this.

I hope my issue is resolved.

But if its not, I would live the rest of my life like this. Probably keep on masturbating and never get married.

It might actually be my excessive masturbation that might be the cause of this. I don't really know. Only God knows.

I am depressed. But suicide is not an option for me. God forbid.
Reading through your story, what if I tell you there is absolutely nothing wrong with you?... You body doesnt just like hoes so you cant get an erection with them. And then the only reason you may not have a proper erection with a normal girl is because you are afraid you cant have one, and that fear messes up your mind and prevents you from having one. The issue is simple, stay away from prostitutes; you aren't alone in this, many guys can't get an erection with prostitutes no matter how beautiful or sexy she is. Just the way most girls won't get wet when with a person they dont care about or find attractive or are emotionally connected to, many guys also won't get an erection with hoes (as long as it keeps ringing in their head that she is one).

If you could get a rock hard boner when with your Edo friend, then I'm not sure I understand the point of this your long epistle or your worry. There's nothing wrong with you, but just like plenty others, you just can't get an erection with hoes.

You haven't really explained why this is a bad policy, you haven't also explained why you think this is a 'pro-govt' policy and 'anti-people'.

In my opinion, the cashless policy is very good, it is pro-people and anti-govt because of the kind of rogue govt officials we have. I just dont think this is the very right time to implement it strictly especially since Nigerian is yet to be equiped with the right infrastructure and people arent well educated in these things yet; I think they should increase the limits.

I woke up this morning with the news that FCSC has shortlisted lists of successful candidates in the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Commission in various Federal Ministries.

Succinctly, I have a friend who studied Business Administration with 3rd Class, while I have Msc and Bsc (2.1) all in Economics. Both of us applied for the same position (SGL 09) in the Ministry of Trade & Investment. Perhaps, to my greatest perplexity, this guy's name was shortlisted while mine was conspicuously missing. Just a few minutes ago he opened up to me that the father made "some calls" on his behalf prior to this time.

For your information, we are of the same age bracket, applied for same position, from the same State. So what criteria could have been used to disqualify someone with Msc and Bsc (2.1) and someone with a 3rd Class was selected.

Holding other factors constant, I am so happy for him and I am so expectant that mine is coming. But this has kept me in an awe position, as the whole scenario depicts lack of correlation between merit and success in this entity called Nigeria.

WHAT A COUNTRY? So help us God!
Too bad for you, but you just need to understand that this is Nigeria where we do everything to the extreme. Fact is that this thing happens in every single country but with the level of unemployment in Nigeria and the fantastically corrupt nature of Nigeria, the case of Nigeria is bound to be worse.

Just shrug it off your shoulders, and continue your search. You will be favoured on the day you will be favoured. Just be happy for your friend because unlike you who can still get chances in other places, your os completely fcked in Nigeria with his kind of result and his only chance on life might just be what his dad did. The struggle continues.

Everybody cannot be a demented one-nigerianist vulture eating the dead and soon to be buried contraption. Comprendes?
Nobody asked you to be one-nigerianist. You can be a two or ten-Nigerianist for all we care, but please be sensible about it. Rain falls and you lament it is because Nigeria is not yet divided, sun shines hard and you irrationally link it to one-Nigeria; two brothers fight themselves and destroy father's property and you still link it to your divide Nigeria narrative. You find a way to link any and every misfortune to one Nigeria when with the tiniest iota of common sense, it can be seen that the issue has got absolutely no correlation.

If you cannot see that that is an early sign of dementia, then its a pity.

My brother, I feel ur pain. But remember that we are not one and may not be in the nearest future. We all are in one way or the other divided along political, tribal, social status and class, religious, cultural and regional lines.

To my fellow citizens,
If you are a son of just an average man or worst still a poor man and u are busy preaching, believing or fighting over "one Nigeria", My dear wake up cos you are only dreaming.

One Nigeria is only being practised among politicians and rich class irrespective of their tribes, religion or geopolitical zone. They share their juicy jobs and appointments among themselves but some very poor people will be here fighting each other over them.
I'm struggling to understand what relevance your preaching about One Nigeria vs Divided Nigeria has to do with the plight of the Op. Has the obsession for disintegration gotten to this level?

The Op stated he is from the very same state with his friend but his friend was favoured over him because the dad had made contacts. So how on earth does this your preaching about division fit into this?... and then take a look at the number of likes you got... Smh!

Smh.
Why hasn't a thread been created on why this man was assaulted, why is the focus on who or when? Infact, Nigerians and Nigeria leave me speechless.
We are obviously not on the same page here (or ever), so let the conversation end here.
We are obviously not on the same page, you are specifically not on the same page with everyone else here because you are clearly diverting a simple discussion to another territory. 'Focus' is the keyword here.

Yes the man was assaulted and that is bad, but if we want to talk of the man being assaulted, kindly open another thread which is focused on that or you can go to the other thread which made the frontpage yesterday which specifically dealt with the assault.

But the simple essence of this thread now is just to clarify the irresponsibility of a dude who dubiously tried to politicise the assault issue this morning by spreading blatant lies, a thread which was pushed to the frontpage to the admiration of many.

You guys don't seem to get it.

A man was assaulted, a man who has represented this country before. Whoever did it does not make it right.

It is bad enough it happened in 2013, it is still happening in 2017 and the best we can come up with is debate which government was in power when he was assaulted? Just imagine the ridiculousness of that. It is despicable that a person who has represented this country has ever been assaulted and is still being assaulted. No wonder this country never seems to move forward.

By the way, if I may add, there are things one can play politics with. THIS is not one of those things.
Nope you are the one clearly not getting the point.

For a second, just get it off your mind that the man was assaulted cos that assault isnt necessarily what this thread is about at the moment. And dont get it twisted, this is not me saying that the man being assaulted is right, but for now, that isnt what the topic of discussion is. Let's focus on the point of the thread.
