The body language of Ifeanyi Uba definitely forced some forex rats to release the forex they were hiding. Just the same way his statement about flooding Nigeria with fuel forced every fuel hoarding rat to release the products they were hiding in June 2015 thereby ending Nigeria's worst fuel scarcity ever. The strong statement of Buhari that he wasnt still going to devalue even if it got to N1000, that also helped to cripple the activities of the hoarders.

The lesson from these events is that, sometimes you can get something done without necessarily doing anything.

vayne:
Ok,I have been looking for an opportunity for the dollar to pullback a bit so I can make some payments, knowing fully well that the pullback will be temporary since the actual situation is still unclear....saboteurs,article/natural factors,oil..

I read on the front page today how that ngeneukwenu of a boy was brainwashing people to believe all sort of rubbish about the naira/dollar exchanging for #300!!

https://www.nairaland.com/2954172/how-much-dollar-selling-black

With one abagoro testifying how he bought/sold dollar @245/250!!
https://www.nairaland.com/2953778/dollar-fallen-250

So I decided to make a $7 dollar payment with my master card to check if the news was true before making a full payment, hoping that in every lie, there was an atom of truth(might probably be charged around 260-280 at worst)and to my jaw breaking shocking suprise,I was charged #398/400 to a dollar =2786.70 !! cry cry .
Why are these banks charging us exhorbitantly?

Why are these nairaland Opc/APC omonile touts parading fake news at the detriment of others just to make it look like Buhari is working?

Do not try this at home!!
The stories of naira appreciating are very true (I dont know of 245 though) Just last night I withdrew some pounds using my GTB card in London and was charged 412, that's a massive drop from about 482 which they charged some days earlier. I think your bank just chose to rip you off.

If indeed you're anything busy you will not spend your time and energy online castigating many Igbos for choosing to exercise their inalienable rights to self-determination and opting to abandon you in this contraption.

If those you termed 'imbecilic nonentities' are indeed what you call them you wouldn't condescend so low as to work and attempt to scuttle the aspirations of a people to the satisfaction of some paymasters...
For crying out loud, who is this confused person who wouldn't leave my mentions this afternoon? The last time I checked, on this thread I only commented on the reason why true federalism cannot be achieved in Nigeria; the reason being that Igbos and Yorubas keep fighting themselves foolishly instead of coming together to topple the northern forces sitting on its realisation. I also went further to correct an obviously erroneous statement by the Op where he said the SW is opposed to true federalism, it is common knowledge that the SW, SS and SE have been asking for true federalism.

Now if you are being tormented by some spiritual forces from your village, I do not know. But I am yet to understand how you have dragged me into ipob issues in this thread, nowhere did I refer to you guys on this thread so I wonder why you are blindly accusing me of castigating anyone. But then, since you have mentioned it, my position on that issue is very clear, I am not in support of any form of secession, especially when it is led by a person I consider a psychopath (Kanu) and his hoard of thoughtless supporters. I cannot also support an idea of secession especially when it is clear that the primary driving force is just sad emotions over the election loss of GEJ to an Hausa man.

ALTERNATEID:
Federal government does not change dollar earnings into naira in the parallel market so, this your conspiracy theory is wrong. CBN manages and forex earnings of the federation and they do so by strictly using the official rate.

If you want to know the reason behind the current rebound, then you should find out the reason for the initial astronomical fall in the N/$ exchange rate and that is, speculation. Speculators created an extreme artificial scarcity with the hope that the president will yield to pressure to devalue the Naira. After waiting for so long without success, they have to dump the dollars they are hoarding and hence, the rise in Naira value.
I think the Op is trying to say the FG 'round-tripped' its own funds in order to illegally raise revenue from Nigerians desperate for forex.

I don't think everybody wants true federalism, atleast not like the SE does.
Voting for a man who is predictably anti-true federalism is not a way to show you want true federalism,
Infact, i think if anybody decides to run against buhari and promises true federalism. the SW would still vote buhari.
I think the SW is just interested in what butters their bread regardless of how shortsighted . As long as it gives them a marginal advantage over the rest, they are satisfied.
So in your logic, 'voting Jonathan' = 'True federalism' irrespective of how bad a leader he was?... A person who wants true federalism MUST vote against a Buhari and MUST vote for a GEJ even though it was crystal clear to even a blind man that GEJ's confab was just a ruse to curry favour for his re-election?

As far as facts are concerned, GEJ was not going to bring back true federalism and also, Buhari (for obvious reasons) is not going to move for true federalism. So when presented with these 2 candidates in an election, I cannot be deceived into using true federalism as a criteria to vote for any of them; other factors would be considered and GEJ was definitely a failure that needed to go.

CSTR2:
The SE have never been mute on true federalism even in GEJ's government.
It was SE economic experts and advisers in jonathan's govt that convinced him to have a confab and push for true federalism.
SE have always been direct with thier demand for true federalism. Even the confab itself was a testament to it.
We are not snakes that lose sight of the bigger picture because our preferred govt is in power for now.
The point is simple, the SW and SE and SS wants true federalism. The only way it can be achieved is by working together to overrule the north which is sitting on its realisation; the surest way not to achieve it is by the SE and SW accusing each other and being on each other's necks as has always been the case since time immemorial.

CSTR2:
If jonathan was supposedly the problem, then why haven't the SW pushed for true federalism under buhari?
Afterall, Buhari is their president and this is their preferred govt.
Buhari recently overruled the confab reports with the SW as mute as a donkey.
You are a very dishonest human being and with people like you in that country shying away from the bitter truth like cowards, then there is no hope in sight.
Bro, the NW and NE are the only major blocks against true federalism in Nigeria (for obvious reasons). As much as they have a large population and representatives, they do not outnumber the other zones in Nigeria. But do you know the reason why true federalism cannot be achieved?... It is because of the foolishness of the SE and SW who are always on each other's necks and will never unite in this singular purpose to push for true federalism. As long as the SE and SW continue to fight each other like 2 scorned wives married to the same chief, the north would continue to have the upper hand and laugh at us.

Meanwhile, just the same way the SE was mute on this subject when Jonathan reigned (because the SE appeared favoured), the SW is now mute under Buhari because they think they are now favoured; it's common sense bro. By the way, I don't know what you mean by your last sentence about me being 'dishonest,' I don't even know how that applies to what we are saying here.

Eluwilussit:
Did u read the post at all? He stated categorically, how Oshimole and fellow governors frustrated all effort to save through subsidy removal, creation of excess crude account and so on. The governors insisted on sharing any excess cash and even went to court. They blackmailed FG and short-changed Nigerians.

How do you blame Iweala for lack of savings? She was not the president. She didn't have powers to enforce anything. She merely proposed or opposed. While she isn't perfect, everything Aribisala said about her and her tenure is true. If only GEJ had any ball, his govt would have achieved a lot with Iweala as finance minister.
Obiagelli:
Did he also mention the Okonjo and gej was secretly withdrawing from the savings before the governors protested?
Does he think he is talking to fools? why didnt governors protest when Obj was saving.
I kind of agree with Eluwilussit, the problem wasn't NOI but Jonathan himself. However NOI should have just resigned just the way she did when OBJ wanted to start messing her up. If we check history very well, everywhere in which NOI failed under GEJ, she actually did well under OBJ. NOI achieved her world acclaim when she worked with OBJ, all economic indices were on a steady rise but the whole story strangely changed when she worked with GEJ.

@Obiagelli, I remember the state governors also prevailed on OBJ/NOI to share the ECA funds. They termed the account 'illegal' and even took him to court but OBJ in his stubborn ways vehemently refused to crack; same also happened with Yaradua but he equally refused. But the very second GEJ assumed office, one of the first things he did in 2010 was to share the ECA money in order to curry favour from the governors for his 2011 ambition. I think OBJ was right when he said NOI is a genius but she has her weaknesses and needs to work with a smart boss if she must excel.

2010- 2015......

Jonathan was named their son.....He was their son truly but he was opposed widely.

The Confab was a ploy to create such a home within Nigeria. But the north and south west opposed......

Now finally he was pushed out..... The symbol of their belonging. Worse yet he was replaced by a man who they hated more than death itself......

They silently got ready for the biggest protest of their time.
The last time I checked, the SE and SS and SW asked for the same thing in the last confab. The only thing the SW opposed was the return of an ineffective weak leader called Jonathan who watched helplessly for years as his friends plundered the nation's wealth; except you are saying a 'Jonathan presidency' is your own definition of restructuring the nation, I don't understand what you mean by this statement.

Why do we celebrate mediocrity in Nigeria?
If I were Tinubu, shame won't allow me receive any Award at least at this time. After all the noise about bringing "Change" to Nigeria, our nation isn't making any headway since his protégé assumed office.
Job losses is now the order of the day, hyper inflation is rife, value of Naira is 400 ft below sea level, insecurity is at its crescendo with Book Haram, Avengers, IPOB and Militants ramming from all four cardinal points, 2016 budget of corruption, Shiites massacre, increased power tariff, etc.
There fore I ask again, does Tinubu deserve the Sun Award knowing the crucial role he played alongside Rotimi Amaechi in installing PMB?
Change I no see!
Was it Tinubu that squandered Nigeria's oil savings?
Was it Tinubu that squandered Nigeria's huge oil earnings in the last 5 years thereby leaving zero kobo as savings?
Was it Tinubu that astronomically increased Nigeria's debts even at a time of unprecedented oil wealth?
Is Tinubu responsible for not diversifying Nigeria from its dependence on a single volatile priced product (oil)?
Is Tinubu responsible for the over 70% crash in global oil prices which has eventually landed us in this economic quagmire?
Was it Tinubu that danced away on stage and played lip service to a rag-tag insurgence until they grew into a formidable monstrosity?
Was it Tinubu that failed to arm the military early enough thereby leading to countless deaths and strengthening the terrorists?
Did you also include power tariff hike?... Was it Tinubu that drew and commissioned the Road Map to Power Sector Reforms in 2010?

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

If you are given another opportunity to vote, will you still vote this man?
You cannot get a certificate after attending a university for just 10 months. You may choose to call PMB clueless, but he is not certified clueless until at least 2-3 years of his tenure has elapsed. On the other hand, GEJ completed his 4 years course and even topped it with a Masters degree to make it 5 years; he graduated as a certified clueless one.

So now to answer your question, if Buhari will be contesting the certified clueless one, then YES!! I will support Buhari again.
