The Federal Road Safety Commission has dismissed insinuations that auto crashes are caused by evil spirits.

Corps Marshall and Chief Executive of FRSC, Mr. Osita Chidoka, stated this during the inauguration of "Operation Eagle Eye", aimed at sensitising members of the public on the dangers of reckless driving during the 'ember months.'

In his remark, the Chairman of the FRSC, Col. Lawan Gwadabe (rtd), at the inauguration of the 'ember months campaign' in Ibadan, Oyo State, said poor attitudinal disposition to road safety rules was the major cause of carnage on the highways.

Chidoka and Gwadade spoke in separate statements made available to our correspondent in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday.

Chidoka said, "A driver who overloads his vehicles, drives at top speed regardless of the nature of the road; disobeys traffic signs with impunity, in all sincerity, cannot blame God if he lands himself in a crash that claims his life and that of his entire family members travelling with him

"This is the pitiful reality of the apathy of Nigerian drivers who deliberately jeopardise their lives through acts of commission or ommission but come back to blame God or attribute auto crashes to evil spirits - when the inevitable happens."

He added that the FRSC was a modern commission built on the ingredients of science and technology and that no man should attribute such incidents to either God or evil spirits.

I have lived in the West and im sure many have and I have seen how the white man maintains road assets. It is retrogressive that in many areas of nigeria, primary school areas which once had speed bumps have had them removed because "men of influence" have spoken to the "necessary people". the results - more accidents and killing of children. Why is it that the western countries could use common sense and let these assets remain while the black man will remove them to risk lives of children for money.

i tried to read them but the articles were too wordy - it was tending towards that God appointed some to heaven and others to hell which i disagree with strongly.; the guy has no authobiography so I dont give much credibility to such guys.

A very sensitive topic in Christianity. Few pastors today will wish to take the hard core Calvinist position that Christ died for the elect ONLY. I take the view that the elect were foreordained to RECEIVE SALVATION AS A MUST & that through them the rest of the world hear and believe.

I have a say because I did not ask to be created and I am being threatened with HELL. A lot has gone on which I wont go into before posting to. There is nothing like crossing boundaries - I refuse to be scared. If God doesnt want me to think for myself then He should take away my mind. But just a brief:

1.) Condition of attaining heaven is belief in Jesus Christ - right? WRONG. Apparently, only those who endure to the end and those whose names were written AND REMAIN in the Lambs Book of Life will be saved.

2.) Recently a recent popular MOG (name withheld) gave a sermon that baffled me. On how the Book of Life was written before the foundation of the world and how the apostles only went into cities to preach the gospel to bring ONLY those foreknown by God to salvation. And that as soon as all those whose names were written in that Book are saved, the trumpet blows; and on how only a SMALL REMNANT FEW make it to heaven. I deduce from the last phrase that many are those who think they were Christians who will be disappointed when denied entrance to the kingdom. Now this is the thrust of my argument - why then bother with creation when you knew some are destined for Hell - dont go on about how I am man and God is God as that does not provide answers.

Wrong, the Corinthian church was institutionalized - that was why Paul was when He went to visit, recognized ordained positions such as elders in these churches. Corithian church is obviously older than the Rome institution.

the Messiah was born in Bethlehem not London and is the Federal head of Christians; therefore Christianity & Church started in Middle East. The church in Corinth is recorded in the Bible not Rome or London.

The kidnappers who operated with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a Toyota Commuter bus, according to eyewitnesses, went to the Onitsha Central Police Station, where they allegedly dislodged the Police before striking at the Cathedral, which is just a stone throw from the station.

His kidnapping was however, not without a struggle, as according to eyewitness, he (Okeke) gave them a tough battle before he was overpowered by the gunmen, who shot from the police station to adjoining streets in the area.

Okeke,about 70 years old, known for his agility and security consciousness, was said to have engaged the gunmen in a fierce battle, kicking one of them into the nearby gutter on the road and disarming another before his wife, who was in his company went for the gun of the one who fell into the gutter but was pushed away by one of the gunmen.

The eye witness further stated that Chief Okeke rushed to one of the kidnappers, dispossessed him of his gun and was about to fire before another one hit him from the butt of the gun, before taking back the gun from him.
