God will help us, lets pray and prepare very well because NIGERIANS are not eligible for 2015 edition

For DV-2015, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years:
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador,
El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.

Changes in eligibility this year: For DV-2015, natives of Nigeria are no longer eligible

G2Glory: Hi Forumities, (Oct 2013)

I need your guidance and advice for a leaglly married Female DV2014 selectee that just had a new baby in August and already received 2NL from KCC for interview in october 2013. Based on the letter from KCC, this was stated ("The Kentucky Consular Center has completed the processing of your case and forwarded it to the interviewing office. Further inquiries should be addressed to the interviewing office listed above. When communicating with the Embassy/Consulate either by telephone or letter, always refer to your name and case number exactly as they appear below. If any documents are listed below as incomplete, please present the completed documents at the time of interview"wink.

The selectee desires to inform embassy ahead of time & include the new baby as part of the beneficiaries. Please how do we contact the embassy & what information she needs to provide. The contact address provided in the letter was postal address (EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT,2 ELEKE CRESCENT,PO BOX 554,LAGOS,NIGERIA

Congratulations on your child birth.
Steps to take are as follow:
1. Notify the embassy at Lagos of your Birth, via lagosiv@state.gov (quote ur Name, DoB & CN) u may attach ur 2nd NL too. (U may Cc KCC)
2. Get the ffg ready for the baby ( Passport, visa photo, birth cert., medical and visa fee of $330)
3. Upon their reply, you will be given instruction to login and fill DS 260 for d baby because DS 230 is now obsolete

With these, I think you are good to go.

I do hope this helps?

Bro don't bother yourself too much on that, just be truthful to the C.O. & explain the scenario that led to that.
For example, with the situation of strike in Nigeria, the schools retain the academic session to conform with number of years a student spend for a course, but in actual sense, calendar month may alternate that.

VisaOfficer:

At the time of the interview, the baby will need a passport, visa photos, DS-230, birth certificate, and medical report.

Visa Officer, kindly clarify these Pls:
1. will the baby pay the $330 Visa fee?
2. I learnt DS-230 has been replaced by an online type, will d baby use the new online type or the conventional type which the parents submitted?

Thanks ahead

Madu77: My wife will put to bed in october. Plz update me on the step to follow as to put my new baby's data before the interview date. Also, I have my LGA birth certificate and my baptismal certificate. Must I still get the NPC attestation? thanks and God bless you all
Please I need your assistance on this

The person doesn't need to inform KCC about the pregnancy, but after the baby is born, s/he should let KCC know the name and date of birth so that the baby can be included in the case.

It is surprising that minor issue could degenerated to these level of advancement in abuses.
Im appealing to all parties involved to shield your sword for the primary purpose of this tread and for God sake.
Though, something like this happened in 2013 tread (remember GENTIGER, TEMMYTANNY & CO) but they were arguments that benefited ordinary members as regards documentations, so If indeed you want to grow this tread, we expect arguments on issues that will benefit DV winners not in abusive manner.
Pls let there be PEACE once again

Stillluvnaija:

bro Olamoyegun,

1. Each applicant will need to obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the country of birth, showing the date and place of birth and the parentage of the applicant, based upon the original registration of birth. Submit to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at your interview. Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted.

The certificate must contain the:

Person's date of birth;
Person's place of birth;
Names of both parents; and,
Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records.

hence, NPC ATTESTATION IS REQUIRED FROM HER TOO

source; http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4760.html

2. if you can get your transcript, its good but if difficult to get, gather some proof of studentship given by your institution and evidence of NYSC, with these I feel u r good to go.

wishing all of us success in our coming interviews.

i hope it helps?

Thanks for dat. You are great!. But I also read on the travel.state.gov website that the NPC attestation is given only for births after 1992! What happens for those of us that were born before then? I have a short form original (less than half page) birth certificate given to my parents at the hospital, is this acceptable considering that general birth certificate information says that short form birth certificates are not acceptable?

Secondly My wife does not have birth certificate and born before 1992, is NPC acceptable considering the below quote on the government website? Can you advise us please as both of us were not born in Lagos.

"
Documents
Birth and Death Certificates
Generally available, particularly for events occurring after 1970. Registration of births and deaths is compulsory in Lagos. The National Population Commission issues birth certificates for births after 1992.

For Lagos records, certified copies of records for dates ending with 1979 can be obtained at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. For records after 1979, contact the local government that issued the original certificate directly. Most births and deaths outside of Lagos are also registered at the time of the event. Applicants can obtain certified true copies of certificates directly from the local government. Alternatively, acceptable identity/parentage documents are infant baptismal certificates and hospital or maternity clinic records of birth. Home births are rare in Nigeria and medical records are available in most cases. Affidavits may be acceptable as substitutes for documents for those born outside Lagos prior to 1960 or born in the eastern part of Nigeria in the 1960's at the time of the Biafran War, when presented in combination with convincing secondary evidence of relationship. "

Just apply for attestation of birth from NPC, that definitely solved the problem I think.
I do hope it helps?

You can retrieved your CN via dvlottery.state.gov
Follow the instruction there

America noni:

This is so detailed, I like the way you expalined it,

One more thing I will like to add, I think folks should also start thinking of the type of jobs they will like to do when you get to the US and how to further their education. US is a very competitive country education and career wise, people should get it right as time waits for nobody.
Families back home look forward to you helping people out when you get to America, so you don't really have time to play around. Also rents and bills don't come cheap, I will advice that when you get to the US and someone is accomodating you, you should please set pride aside and go by the rules, that is always one major issue with new arrivals in America.
If you are a lady, please learn how to do hair, so that you can help yourself and your children in the least, those are expensive too, if you like native, please so some and leave space for expansion, if you can learn how to sew, that will also help you. you dont have to do it for money but at least you can help yourself before you settle down.

But the first thing is to know what you want to do.

Share your thoughts and views please!!!!!

Nice one bro.

candytos: My testimony continue: with God n advise from members n reading past postings on this thread we prepared n were able to also cut cost for our dv interview.
This morning wife n I prayed n made positive confessions from a wonderful book by Rev Adetutu Coker " I am destined to win, we prepared and packed our docs for the interview. We also took the holy communion as a family n left home at 5.30am n got to embassy with our kids at 6.30am. Therewas alreadya long queue, we joined n went thro all security. We paid and presented our docs to a Nige Nigerian lady we were told to sit n wait for our number to be called. The hall was jammed with ppl both immigrants n non immigrants, with some standing, not enof seats. I started praying in tongues n thanking God for our visas but my kids were tired of the whole thing n wanted to go home. At 9.15am over 1.5hrs of waiting we were called to window 17 with a young ruddy white American. We exchanged pleasantries n he showed us our forms n told us to sign, which we did.
CO: swear to say the truth
Me n wife: swore

I pray outstanding success n divine favor for all members of this forum awaiting their interview success is theirs IJMN amen. Baba God noni.

Both cases are similiar but it depends on each CONSULAR OFFICER. if you read the testimony of REMKAY2012 and PATOR, you will understand me better, the bottom line is that your visa has been approved, only that they wish to issue it once with your baby's, but had it been that u insisted that day of yours first, it could have been issued.
so do not pannic, start celebrating and invite us for naming when it happens.
