EkelediliBuhari: I preach this independence every other day… working is really not independence as you need a thriving company to pay you salaries… she makes good money from her business too… frankly I think am missing something… Have you considered the possibility that some of those who give her catering contracts may be pestering her for sex? This happens more than people care to admit so I suggest you ask her directly |

Blissbath: Acquiring an experience in teaching hospital as a student nurse,I have concluded that nothing can make me work here as nurse.
There is no equipment,no staff and you improvise for everything.
There is this incident that happened two weeks ago, this teaching hospital had a mass casualty and they were brought to Accident and Emergency ward.
Could you believe that it was only one causlty Doctor and 4 nurses that was on shift and 13 people were injured.
The doctor was tired to set line for IV , only one Bp apparatus,no pulse oximeter. The only thing we were able to do was to give normal saline n IM paracetamol finish. They were left on d floor to help themselves.
Imagine using one BP apparatus to check blood pressure for 13 persons with wound on their arms,I am so sorry for them because some will contact diseases through that means especially HIV or Hepatitis.
Or is it last month that doctors went on strike, some people brought on eemergency died in the hospital because of no doctor.
I do pray everyday that nothing happens to me or my family that will make us go to teaching or state hospital. Because you might not come out alive ,God forbid.
Someone will be brought to the hospital for emergency, doctors and nurses doesn't care.
Or is it the one that happened 5months ago,a patient had a successful surgery,he was brought to New surgical ward for postoperative care,on checking his SPO2,it was below 95 % and there was no oxygen to give to him.
He died right before our own very eyes .
Or is it the one that during CS,there will be power failure, surgeons will have to use torch light.
Omo, experience too plenty. If you have the means to Japa, biko do it. Everything is not about money,at the end of the day quality of life is more important than quantity of life lived.
May God Sha protect and help us.
The say experience is the best teacher An average Nigerian's ambition should be to always have the financial wherewithal to afford private medicare |

Usefulsense: This is my story. Please advice.
I sent my wife to Australia in 2021 on student visa.
She has invited us, myself and our children aged 12 and 9 and our visa is out. I have also paid like 6 months fees for my children school which was a requirement for the visa.
Owing to her performance at her work place, the company she works for has promised to sponsor for PR. Infact, the process just began and we are sure of having the PR.
I am currently 48 and won't be able to support my family working in Nigeria. Wify has encouraged me that we will be fine that abroad is meant for 2 people.
My only constraint is my age, hence my question. If you are in my shoe, will you travel?
By the way, I work for a private firm here in Nigeria and you know what it is working for a family company. Have you finally made a decision? |

The only people I give are my immediate family. My father will tell whoever cares to listen that his second son is the greatest miser he has ever known and I like that description of me. Before my one naira drops and falls into someone's hands, a lot of things must have been considered. I work hard for my money, I'm no father Christmas. |

Kenn55: Your last sentence is wrong in my opinion. There is no genuinely patriotic Nigerian. If there are, they aren't more than 1%. The masses appear patriotic because they have no option not because they are genuinely patriotic. Once they have they same opportunity they elites have, their behavior will change instantly. As a people, our mentality and character is fatally flawed. I have studied a lot of other countries to arrive at this conclusion. That is why it will be almost impossible to get a better country than we already have, unfortunately. I wish I could be wrong on this. You know Nigerians well, they will be criticizing a person in a leadership position for situation but ones you give them an opportunity to right things they will do exactly the same tying they were criticizing the previous leader for! |

Anybody trying to japa and thinking of becoming a multi millionaire or billionaire Na big mistake. But am sure once you are not lazy you will leave a comfortable life. With the present situation in this country things are hard, salary Na pie but. If I come to you now and I said I need 50k will you give me? I prefer leaving this country than leaving like a prisoner in my own country. Why should he dash you 50K if you did not give him any money to keep for you. Go and ask an American living in the United States to dash you $50 let's see what he will tell you |

Many of you here are just clear indicators that the Nigerian mental health industry is in terrible condition. No matter how bad the mental health of Nigerians is it is still not as bad as that of Americans where a teenager can go on a shooting spree in a shopping mall simply becaue he did not get a dance partner at a prom party All you economic refugees in the US who enjoy dissing Nigeria should take your time! |

Romance › Re: My Work Is At Stake by Obierika(m): 2:26pm On Sep 16, 2023 |
Tugatee: After 7 years of being unemployed after nysc, I finally got a job, through my sister inlaw
I am under probation at my place of work, I will be working mostly on night shift (7pm to 7am), the problem is, I find it difficult to stay awake during nightshift, before you know I sleep off.
The reason for the probation , is to train me on how to work as an operator, in case of an emergency.
I am mostly good at general duty at a workplace (working between 8am to 5pm), Even during my school days as an undergraduate, I could not cope with night class, because I sleep off easily, so these made me to change my reading strategy (reading at afternoon instead of at night again)
Back to the issue,
Some contract staff, I believe, went to report me during night shift, I don't know who did, but I try as much as possible to relate with them, so they they can be free with me
Please Nairalanders how do I stay awake at night without falling asleep,
Recommend a drug, injection, anything that can help me
The probation will last for 7 months, I have only worked A month(1 month)
Edaku, please, there is no work in nigeria
My job is at stake What you should do is to spend the daytime sleeping and getting rest that way you will be able to stay awake at night |

olufak2001: It's a pity that most people don't really know what is going on out there. Abroad is a good place to stay but if there is anyway to send your money home for investments, please do. Most of the money you make there will go back into the system. I have lived in Europe for good two years and I can say one or two things about Europe.
Also if you are above 45 years, please do a lot of research before you move. It takes time before you can get your documents.
Netherlands is a good place to live but if you have a study permit. Most Nigerians will ignore this advise, they will just sell all their property and move without doing proper risk analysis |

KiNg0G: The greatest embarrassment that can happen to a man is when he sells his car.
I always advise people if you know you're not financially buoyant triple don't buy a car because once you do, you've automatically purchased a NEW IDENTITY.
All eyes are on, you respect coming from different directions young and old, family members, church members and even neighbors but sell that same car you are reduced to a BEGGAR in their eyes. It's only poor people that have this minset |
