Judge for yourself, all these upgrades and design changes tailored to fit the Nigerian army’s specifications achieved in less than a year, the production line also seems busy so I believe a substantial order has been placed by NA.
Now we're talking cheesy

WE TALK WITH REALITIES AND NOT PERCEPTIONS.
Every reasonable one of us from the East and beyond want nobody apart from President Buhari.
And for sure, we don't expect every Easterner to like him as there will still be some handful of Northerners that won't vote him.
Everyone has their choice to make.
But Majority of us love SAI BABA till forever.
Vote for your Atiku da thief and let us vote for our Daddy Buhari.
These are part of what he has done and he is doing for us in the East.
STRAIGHT TO DA NEXT LEVEL we go with Buhari.
He doesn't need to spend any money for the common man on the street to vote for him!

But when it comes to accuracy, u will agree with me that the M4 is dope
True, the M4 is accurate. Buy so is the Beryl, or Archer as the Americans call it. The Beryl is considered the FINEST copy of the AK-47 copy, and its stock design addresses the accuracy issue that has always plagued the AK-47.

Nigeria Military are far behind in term of weaponry and underfunded. Everybody is busy arguing about about which primary gun better, forgetting about the side arms or kit which the military needs with the present security situation.
ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Come to think of it, how come our troops aren't issued secondary weapons (pistols)? Besides I noticed that the Army still uses the old Browning Hi-power pistols. The Police is even worse with Chinese copies of the Russian Makarov plus Norinco pistols, although there are some Beretta M9s. As far as I'm concerned the Navy's SBS along with DSS are far better equipped with the later using IWI Jericho 941s.

The beryl is good, but my money is on the M4 carbine anytime anyday
Nah, we don't need the M4. The stopping power of the M4's 5.56 cartridge is nothing compared to the 7.62 used in the Beryl. Besides making the transition from the AK-47/OBJ-006 to the Beryl will be far easier as they're all based on the AK-47, thus common features available. Finally we won't be susceptible to US arms embargoes if they decide to go crazy.

what we can do is upgrade it....
There's absolutely nothing wrong with going for upgrades, and I wholely support that. That's why I'm pushing for the adoption of the Polish Beryl, or at least replace the design and materials while maintaining the basic framework of the present OBJ-006 rifle.

What are you even saying ? Did you not see where I said the TAvor TAR21 was a carbine for close quarter combat or fire fight .. I said pound for pound the AK47 remains the best assault rifle out there and that's a fact .. The development of the M16 was influence byvyhe success of the AK47 and till date the M16 has not been able to surpass the AK in any assault rifle ranking .... Oga contrary to uninformed opinions like yours the AK 47 was never a copy of the Nazi STG 44 infact apart for the seeming similarity in aesthetic form they have no mechanical resemblance from bolt mechanism to breech mechansim to gas loading mechanism
Correction: the M-16 was NEVER influenced by the AK-47. The Galil, R4, Valmet were, but NOT the M-16. And yes the German STG-44 did have an influence in the AK-47's design.

The AK-47 is not the most suitable rifle for CQB. As a matter of fact, I'll give that to the CTAR-21 presently used by DSS and the Nigerian Navy SBS. Anyway I think rifles suitable for CQB (CTAR-21, Beryl Carbine) should be left to Special Forces (SBS, AFSF, NAF's QRF, and Police's ATS/CTU) as they more involved in operations in compact spaces (e.g. Hostage Rescue). The present Beryl rifles used by our Special Ops operators should be transferred to the infantry solders. But thats my opinion.

So we should still continue with antique weapons? Don't our troops deserve better? If our neighbors can get more modern standard issue rifles for their basic infantry troops, why do we issue Nigerian soldiers far less because a Politician wants to buy a house in Maitama for his mistress? That's the problem with Nigeria and it annoys the hell out of me.

Even China that is it's major manufacturer adopted another assault rifle as the standard issue for its military.

Yes, the OBJ-006, a copy of the Chinese Type 56 with its folding integrated bayonet. The rifle was introduced during the OBJ administration.

Russia still make use of upgraded versions of Ak47, improved versions like Ak74 and new variants Ak103.
Most recent advanced assault rifles are all derivaties of the Ak47.
The Russians no longer use the AK-47. Yes they still use upgraded versions of the AK-74 and AKS-74U, plus brand new rifle designs from Kalashnikov, but the AK-47 has been phased out from the military.

Bros, many new battle rifles can do just that, from the Tavor TAR-21 to the Galil ACE to the BAR. Everyone have learnt from the AK-47's reliability. It's time the rifle is relegated to the museum.

if you dont like aks, then submit you own desighn to dicon....
Abeg stop b#$tching like an a$$. Do you think the OBJ-006 being built in DICON is a unique design? It's basically a COPY of the Chinese Type 56, using WOOD & METAL (in 2018!!). To make matters worse, a soldier I had a chat with complains that the barrel BUCKLES after long firefights with Boko Haram! The fact that we're not even using lighter synthetic material is an indictment on DICON for lack of creativity and innovation. What stops them from coming up with a better design, addressing the AK-47 flaws, from accuracy to weight, etc?

Anyway, there were talks of DICON purchasing the rights to produce the Beryl rifle locally during the GEJ administration. I suggest that this administration follow up on that and make it a reality. The Nigerian Infantry Soldier is in dire need of a more modern and far better standard issue. If a basic Cameroonian soldier or Chadian soldier can be issued the Israeli Galil Ace rifle, why can't our soldiers better? So stop yapping.

AK47 outdated rifle? What do you know about guns? AK47 wins wars
The AK-47 is totally outdated. Yes it is reliable, but it is basically an antique. Even the Russians no longer use the AK-47 but rather the AK-101 and AK-103 with later versions joining their arsenal. The Chinese also do not use their version of the AK-47 (Type 56 and 56-2). I recommend that the military phase out the AK-47 for the Polish Beryl Rifle presently being used by Army and NAF Special Forces, or even the GALIL ACE rifle used by DSS and even purchased by Nigerian Immigration Service.

lol, u re just guess saying what happened aftermath of the attacks while I asked u what happened prior to the attacks.

As for where the airforce were during the malete attack, :
Although am not a war analyst nor military specialist, but the little knowledge I have and from all videos of airstrikes I have seen,.
Air supports and airstrikes are mainly called when an area is littered with enemies. Mainly for a sweep ops.
Any airstrike or air support in the malete scenario is sure 90% of resulting to a blue on blue.
Soldiers were were scattered and littered every where, and knowing that boko haram wore military camouflage, it could have been difficult differentiating between a troop and a terrorist.
Now after the attack, boko haram terrorists couldn't hold the position for long because then was an airforce bombardment that chased them down to the lake Chad boarders.
......What? You can't be serious with what you've posted. Air force couldn't be called because of a possible "blue on blue"? WTF...so what happened when the base received Intel on a possible attack about an hour prior to the main attack? In the year 2018 how come we still don't have Combat Air Controllers to call out coordinates and guide in airstrikes on the enemy? And didn't we purchase precision weapons from the Chinese and Pakistanis? There is absolutely ZERO EXCUSE for what happened in Malete. It's time the military top brass and the FG are held accountable.

where was the swat team and anti terror squad prior to 9/11 attack? undecided
Where was mi6 prior to Boston Train bombing?
Where are all the USA, Russia army, if isis controls territories in Syria.?
If u can answer these, I promise to leak to u where our airforce were during the matele raid massacre.
Scene 1: First responders were readily available at the scene of the terror attacks on 9/11. From NYPD to New York Fire Department to Medics. A number of them braved the damage to rescue people trapped and clear the streets. Unfortunately they could not rescue thousands trapped up in both towers, and the structural integrity of both towers were already long compromised.

Case 2: Boston is in the UNITED STATE; MI6 is the foreign Intelligence Service of the UNITED KINGDOM. That said, when the bombing occurred both the Boston City Police Department and the FBI swung into action hunting for the perpetrators of that dastard act. BOTH were captured. I suggest you watch PATRIOTS DAY.

Case 3: Syria: The country is quite large and was already a big mess. The Syrian Army and Republican Guards were already fully stretched fighting on MULTPLE fronts. In comes the Russians with their Air+Naval power, plus Spetznaz, and other advisors, and they've already turned the tide of the war in favour of the Syrian Govt. Hell, Assad (with the help of the Russians) defeated ISIS decisively and has almost won the war. The Americans on the other hand are no more than 4-5000 Special Forces troops + Marines restricted to a given location in the Kurdish North. You expect them to respond to ISIS attacks (if any) across Syria when they have bigger issues that Turkey kicking the a$$es of their allies the Kurds?

Oya, leak the whereabouts of our Air force when 100 or our soldiers where murdered. Where the hell was CAS when it was desperately needed? If you can't answer that then I suggest you stop supporting what's wrong and demand better from the FG and the Ministry of Defence for the sake of our troops, their loved ones, and the nation at large. Our military deserves BETTER.

I'm afraid you're right. I had a chat with a soldier attached to one of the Task Forces up north, and his stories were truly horrific. Even down to the basic fire arm, a Nigerian soldier is at a disadvantage. 'heard the barrel of the Nigerian made Type 56/OBJ-006 rifles buckles after being fired for some time that the soldiers have to pliers to straighten them. With Mobile Police Units that are usually rotated in and out of the NE, I wonder how the authorities expect our cops to face an enemy armed with RPG thermobaric rounds. There's urgent need to provide our troops with more and better equipment from basic body armour and rifles to armour vehicles (mbts, MRAPs, IFVs) , communication assets, better and transport combat aircrafts, etc. And don't forget the basic welfare of our soldiers and their families. They deserve way better.
