Wow, that's interesting. I guess there were other police quarters which people can utilize. Just went to do with my bro at Louis Edet HQ Abj.. it will take less than a week to get the police report.

I am based in Abuja. I want to do police report in Abuja Louis Edet Police HQ at Area 11. But i heard rumors that UK travellers must obtain their police report from Ikoyi, Lagos. Is it true that police report clearance (to check criminal records) can only be done at Ikoyi, Lagos ?

What must the applicant supply?
Individuals:

enquire beforehand from CCR if additional documents are required.
fingerprints to be obtained on site
letter of introduction from prospective employing company (if applicable)

Prospective employers:

form available at CCR; to be filled on site, stating “pre-employment screening” for reason(s)
must provide subject’s copy of bio data page of their international passport and copy of their fingerprints (taken at local police station)
Applicants in the UK:

3 copies of Nigerian passport
3 copies of page showing current visa (Non UK residents only)
3 passport sized photographs
3 copies of completed form (obtainable at embassy)
Payment of fees
applicants will be given a letter by the High Commission to enable them to have their fingerprints taken by the Metropolitan Police

Please I need a piece of honest advice from experienced nairalanders, I am a Software Engineer, I got an offer from a very close friend (He is like a brother to me) of mine that resides in Dubai to come and manage a club he co-owns to enable him time for other activities. I will need to learn how nightclubs operate since I have little or zero knowledge about the nightlife. I have the freedom to pick up side gigs (or remote work) when I can and He is not in any way restricting me but he needs me to learn the business with him.

The plan, in a simple language, when I learn the business well enough he will pull out and open his own so I can be his manager since he doesn't want recognition.

He paid for my flight ticket and was the one that processed the visa for me (tourism) and he is currently working on how my visa can be extended and my work permit too.

Before I came to Dubai, I applied for this opening with a tech firm in Berlin. I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).

Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.

What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.

Get outta there, pack your load and head straight to Germany for your destiny path. He can still edge u aside to retake the Dubai club. And your course field is full of massive potential. Learn German Language gradually too. There is democracy, and it is a tech country. Everyone must take their fate into their own hands, while we seek God's blessing and protection.

Please I need your help in choosing a career for myself but it seems very hard figuring out on one particular thing to do with my life.

I studied marketing which I love in one of the prestigious polytechnic in the eastern part of Nigeria and waiting to be mobilized for Nysc.

I don't have any hard skill at the moment but am yet to enrol for any computer skills in high demand, like Graphic Design, Software development, Video editing (One after the other) as well as going for Digital marketing and any other skills you can suggest i go for.

What do I do with these aforementioned skills?

Am passionate about handling Leadership positions which I would do well. having handled several positions when I was in school, am a kind of person that dislikes disorderliness ,hate to see the poor oppressed in the society, political crisis in the country that most at times eats me up as if my life depends on it.

To sum it all, am a problem solver when it comes to leadership problems in organizations.

how come it took 6 months? were you frequently contacting or sending request to UK Visa office through the gov.uk website to address your BRP delay?

it took him 3 weeks... this Brp delay happens mostly to those who chose "post office" as their BRP collection center, instead of their university (sponsor)

Since covid this brp thing unfortunately is a waiting game(same can be said of NI)..you need to wear the suit of patience, some people are lucky they get theirs fast.

I don't know much concerning whom you may want to stay with. I have never heard of that option before. But once you select the sponsor criteria, it will reveal a range of options. I can only give an advise for international students that are entering the UK for the first time. As an international student, the best option to select as your BRP collection center is your university. You will likely obtain your BRP faster through your university that you were admitted to.

my bro's BRP card obtained at last, after waiting for 3weeks.. I will advise anyone applying to study in UK to note the following;

- that during your visa payment process at the gov website, ensure that you choose your university in the BRP collection criteria under the 'sponsor' option.
- on your visa apllication letter, it may be necessary to indicate that your university will collect your BRP on your behalf. The university CAS letter usually contains an ACL code (specifically for your BRP) used by your university, which should be indicated on your visa application too.

That way, your university can collect your Biometric Resident Permit (BRP) on your behalf... and they will likely collect it faster for you, unlike post office. I know that this topic is hardly discussed here, but it is very important to know, because it will ease your chances in settling quicker after arrival

If I'd both options, I'd go for Business Analytics but this is me choosing without knowing what your circumstances or background are. Because with the degree, one can work as a Business Intelligence Analyst, a Business Analyst, a Data Analyst, a Business Consultant etc.

That said, the knowledge you'll gain from both courses can be used in different industries but Business Analytics will set you up more in tech. Additionally, last week, I think I happened on a Business Analytics course that has a Project Management module.

I think you should reevaluate what your career plan is and make a decision based on that. Bear in mind that it's easier (or less difficult) to study Project Management without a structure than it is to study Business Analytics.

About timeframe, the difference between May and September isn't much and might be some time for you to get more money before you depart.[/color]

Covid19?.... many things were impacted. Hospital waiting list, people waiting for operations/treatment, jobs, economy etc

Many people are working from home, managers had to reduce targets for staff, many workplace training are relaxed or not able to commence...

without BRP, you can't even be involved in or do any of these above listed things

I then called UKVI (BRP unit) and was informed to report using the link just once and wait for 20days. I was told multiple reporting would amount to wiping out your previous report. Just report once and be patient. another thing you can do is to involve your MP to chase the Home Office

wow, but why does it take up to 20 days for them to respond? they are terrible... It is even a challenge to get a job in UK without BRP. My brother went for a job interview today, and after showing his other documents and going through the interview process, he was told that he needs to present his share code (which can only be obtained by inputting your BRP number on the gov site) in order for d employer to check your eligibility to work for 20hrs as a foreign student and also confirm from UKVI too.. So this BRP delay is frustrating, and he's one step away from getting the healthcare job, but the employer said he would have to bring his BRP when it's ready...

exactly, the UKVI did not email him too. My bro always went to post office weekly, and still nothing. He will go to post office tomorrow. Too bad int'l students could face an avoidable challenge due to lack of info. He also filled in his details on this link last week but no response since last Monday (a week ago). Is it advisable for him to be requesting for answers on the BRP delay from UKVI repeatedly to see if they can reply soonest?

During my time I went through ukeas. I had issues paying for visa and Ihs as well. Someone helped me to pay then and the person did not need to change or add anything to my application. Wonder why your relative tampered with your application.

As for other issues discussed here you can't blame anyone. People keep repeating same questions over and over when people don't respond they become aggressive.

But that shouldn't hold you back when you need to ask important questions.

The person who paid visa on my behalf was based in UK, so I couldn't have known about the BRP collection process, and the third party selected "post office". The person didn't realize that in the CAS letter, there's a BRP collection code that gives the university the permission to collect BRP on your behalf, and i didn't notice this too. Sadly right now, the UK Home Office haven't replied yet by mail despite sending msg to Ukvi through their gov.uk website since last Monday concerning the BRP delay.. 3weeks don pas already..

Marriage pictures, videos, evidence of cohabitation, chats, bank statement showing you sent or received money from your spouse.. documents showing both of you own property together... If you have children then provide evidence to that effect....the list is non exhaustive...

The one i used to hear that has delay issues is passport renewal at the UK high commission. but I'm telling you that even those who started their application process to study in UK would never imagine that BRP could be delayed for a month, because the gov website will state that BRP is obtained within ten days of arrival.. So it is not even a topic that pple would easily remember to research on because as a newbie, you would think it arrives quickly. Lack of information is a big problem too.
