A Cry For Help From RMS Titanic

The world was shocked when RMS Titanic sank 107 years ago.

But the tragic saga has been told and retold over the decades since her sinking; her story stirs the imagination to this day.

The "unsinkable" ship sank four days into her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City, with an estimated 2,224 people on board, losing at least 1,517 lives, which makes it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history.

RMS Titanic hit an iceberg at 23:40 on the night of April 14, 1912.

Just over 150 minutes later, the ship broke in two halves at around 02:20 on April 15 and sunk.

When the Titanic was hit hard & started sinking it began sending out distress signals.

Three ships were nearby before it sank.

The first ship was known as SS Admiral Sampson.

SS Admiral Sampson was the closest to RMS Titanic. It was just 7 miles away from RMS Titanic.

They saw the white flares from RMS Titanic signaling danger and a call for help, but because the crew had been hunting seals illegally and didn’t want to be caught, they turned and went the opposite direction away from Titanic.

The second ship was SS Californian.

SS Californian was just 14 miles away from RMS Titanic, but they were surrounded by ice fields and the captain looked out and saw the white flares, but because the conditions weren’t favourable and it was dark, the captain and his crew decided to go back to bed and wait until morning. The crew tried to convince themselves that nothing was happening.

Early in the morning, at around 05:30, the wireless operator was awakened. He tried to communicate with the ship, but got the sad news instead – RMS Titanic has sunk.

The third ship was RMS Carpathia.

RMS Carpathia was 58 miles away from RMS Titanic and was headed in a southern direction when they heard the distress cries from RMS Titanic over the radio. The captain of this ship knelt down, prayed to God for direction, and then turned the ship around and went full steam ahead through fields of icebergs.

It would take her approximately three and a half hours to arrive at the position of RMS Titanic’s final distress call.

Captain Arthur Rostron speeds up his nine-year-old ship. The ship managed 17 knots, which far surpassed her quoted top speed making their way to the last known coordinates of RMS Titanic.

Meanwhile, Rostron’s crew kept busy making preparations to receive the surviving passengers of RMS Titanic, to ensure the rescue operation could be both as successful and as swift as possible.

RMS Carpathia arrived in the area at approximately 3:30 AM, that’s about an hour after the Titanic sank.

This was the ship that saved the 705 survivors of the Titanic. This is one of the most heroic and perilous rescue efforts.

The remaining 1517 lives got lost in "watery grave". It is said that if the other two ships had responded all the people on-board the “Titanic” could have been saved.

When the captain looked back at the ice fields they had come through, he said; “someone else hands must have been at the helm of this ship.”

Let us remember Titanic sent the distress signal to multiple ships shortly after midnight on April 15, 1912. Only the farthest ship; “RMS Carpathia” arrived on the scene and saved the 705 survivors of the Titanic.

What can we learn from it?

The first ship represents us and people like us who are so busy looking inward at our sin and lives that we can’t recognize when someone else is in need.

The second ship represents those of us who say I can’t do anything now. The conditions aren’t right for it and so we wait until conditions are perfect before going out.

The last ship! That's what we should all aim to be. To be there for each other and thrust everything into God's Hands.

Every day hundreds of youths are going into crime because their neighbour pretended not to see their distress signal and cry for help and looked the other way. And just like RMS Titanic, many glorious dreams are being buried in untimely and 'watery graves'.

Hello Good afternoon Familanders. This is very long, so please bear with me.

I’ll start from the root. Well, in my church, there’s usually a committee for the married men where most times we can proffer solution to the issues or need of the church members and other times organize get together monthly within us (married men) just to foster unity. Since we're like 20, different men host the get together. Therefore, it's spaced out for 1year and 8months.

It all began last Sunday when I was chosen to oversee the next get together which comes up this Sunday after church. When we (my wife and I) got home after church, I told her about it and she immediately asked, “who would do the cooking”? I was taken aback as the question sounded strange. I replied her saying, since she did the cooking the last time, I figured she’d do it this time.

She got angry and said there’s no way she’ll be going through the stress of cooking for 18 to 25 men and that I better know what to do concerning who’s going to handle the cooking. I tried to calm her down and reminded her of how I assisted her in the kitchen by pounding the yams while she made the soup -two soups actually and that I was going to help her this time. Yam is quite expensive so we’re not pounding this time, just Semo.

She remained adamant and said there was no way she would do anything, that the work stressed her so much and she won’t partake in any cooking and that I better go find anyone to do the cooking. Thing is, I understood the fact that the work was stressful for her because she was 5 months pregnant then and it was her first time.

Yesterday at work, I kept pondering about a solution and a thought struck me. I called her from work and asked her, "how about I get one of the women at church to offer you support?". She blatantly refused and still held on to her words.

My mind hasn’t been settled since morning because I got hold of a caterer and she told me that she’ll charge a thousand naira per head, that is approximately 20k. Truth is, the get together came at a wrong time and considering the prices of drinks, the cost of the food stuff, meat, ingredients, etc. I really can’t afford a caterer right now.

I’m at a cross road now. I don’t know what to do because it’s causing a rift between us. I thought of bringing a church member to assist on that day without informing her so she wouldn’t surprise me and leave the house but I fear that if she comes, my wife might not join her in the kitchen and the woman will begin to feel a certain way (thinking of how ungrateful we are). Then again, who will purchase the food items? I’ve just been confused. I really need insights.

Note: I said I'll help her make the swallow, she just needs to make the soup.

I'm sorry for bringing up to this platform but is of necessity for me to bring it . I've been hearing it from people but I don't know how they do feel about it. I've heard stories about how a lady cheating on her guy and a man cheating, but all these stories I do see them as fantasy or something that is not real. I've heard about a lady killing herself because of her boyfriend and I've heard about a boy taking sniper because of a lady.

Recently, I was in love with a lady in my office and this lady she is 35 years of age, I am 37 years of age and I asked out, we started dating after a period of time, she told me about herself, after all in the place of her work, she has dated about three different persons that she had sex with them. People in the office do gossip about her because of how waryward life. They do call her prositute. With all that, I still love her.

Before I came on board, she told me about her neighbour and all what they've done like touching and kissing was the highest they have done and I said ok.

We started dating and working towards marriage. At a time, we got intimate. I never knew that she was still seen her neighbor. She do go to his room to charge her phone. I never knew that they were having sex and she was having sex with me. she always claim that I'm the only person she is having sex with but I have this kind of feeling that she is cheating on me. I do always argue and challenged her faithfulness and at the end, she will put up a defensive mode accusing me that I didn't trust her.

Some days ago, when i challenged her with evidence of cheating. She confessed to me about how she and her neighbour been having sex and I was heartbroken, that night, I slept in a house I couldn't get it, I never knew that I love her so much, that was a period I knew that I was deeply in love with her. I feel like dying, I feel like everything is over. I love her so much, I want to marry her. Few days ago, I travelled to meet with my parents and discussed my marriage issues with them, I told my girl about it but she didn't blive. With all these, she didn't feel remorseful. I wish I had never met her. I am in pain.. What should I do? I am a confused man now.

Suspected Nigerian fraudster, Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi has reportedly been released, according to information on the official website of Federal Bureau Of Prisons website.

Ramon Olorunwa Abass and members of his gang were arrested while sleeping at their Dubai residences. Abbas was arrested earlier in June along with Olalekan Jacob Ponle, also known as Woodberry and 10 others.


The 12 suspects were arrested in six simultaneous raids carried out by the e-police unit of the Dubai Police.

The gang was responsible for Dh1.6 billion (about N169 billion) fraud involving over 1.9 million victims. Items worth N15.845 billion (Dh 150 million) were also seized.

13 luxury cars worth N2. 640 billion (Dh 25 million), 21 laptops, 47 smartphones, 15 memory storage devices, 5 external hard drives and 800, 000 emails of potential victims were also recovered from the gang.

Hushpuppi was earlier transferred to the Central District of California on Tuesday for prosecution and remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal in accordance to 18 U.S.C. § 3142(f).

However, information on the official website of Federal Bureau Of Prison says he has been released.

The information available on the website indicates Hushpuppi has been released on the 20th of July, 2020 which is 2 days ago.

CHICAGO – A man from Nigeria has been arrested after being accused of running a $50 million scheme that targeted Chicago companies.

Olalekan Jacob Ponle allegedly got an unnamed Chicago-based company to wire transfer more than $15 million. Another local company lost $2.3 million, but investigators believe the scheme is worth more than $50 million.

Sources pointed WGN Investigates to his Instagram feed which looks like a lifestyle of the rich and famous.

Here’s how prosecutors said the alleged scheme worked.

Either he or his co-conspirators were able to gain access to company’s email accounts through a phishing attack.

In one of the Chicago cases, they allegedly sent an email that appeared to be from the company’s Chief Accounting Officer to another employee ordering the a transfer.

The criminal complaint says “The fraudulent email was almost identical to a prior, legitimate email” right down to the name on the bank account. But the account “number” was different.

Federal agents said Ponle’s scheme spanned at least 9 months last year.

During that time, one of his Instagram posts read: “Money don’t make a man, a man makes money.”

Ponle is a Nigerian national and was taken into custody in the United Arab Emirates. UAE expelled him and federal agents brought Ponle to Chicago Thursday night for an initial court appearance Friday morning.

A detention hearing is schedule for late next week.

25-year-old boy arrested for raping a 70-year-old grandma in Ogun state

A 25 year-old-man identified as Wasiu Bankole has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 70-year-old woman.

It was gathered that the suspect broke into the home of his suspect at Abule lemode area of ijoko at about 8 pm, pinned down the woman and raped her. It took the intervention of a neighbour who heard the woman’s scream and rushed in to save the victim. The suspect was said to have jumped off and ran away leaving his clothes, shoes and torchlight inside her room. The incidy happened on June 2. After the act, the woman reported the incident at the Agbado Division of the State Police Command.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the matter was taken up after it was reported and the DPO Agbado division, SP Kuranga Yero, dispatched his detectives to look for the suspect and bring him to justice.

“The detectives succeeded in getting him arrested 24 hours after and brought him to the station.
On interrogation, he confessed committing the crime but claimed to have acted under the influence of alcohol. The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention.”

Oyeyemi added that the state police commissioner has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).

“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police CP Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Abeokuta for further investigation and diligent prosecution”

Nigerian music legend and reggae king Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, is dead.

His death was confirmed by his manager Omenka Uzoma, on the late singer’s official Instagram handle.

“Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker,” he said.

As protests sparked by George Floyd’s death entered their chaotic fifth day, social media filled with images and video of police officers using batons, tear gas and rubber bullets to quell crowds⁠—but some squads joined in with Saturday protesters to express their stance against police brutality, and to show solidarity with the anti-racism movement.
