THE VANITY SIDE OF LIFE I remember 1999 vividly, I remember Eagle Square and what happened there on the 29th of May, 1999. 20 years after, so many things have happened. From Eagle Square where power changed hands in 1999, I have seen many who were present on that day but today, have been forgotten in idle permanent homes of their graves. I remember how Nelson Mandela walked into the venue and the ovation that followed and with my same eyes I saw him in a casket. In my eyes Stella Obasanjo rose to affluence and influence and with my eyes I saw her being driven out of power in a casket. In my eyes Desire Kabilla who was also at Eagle Square fell to the bullets of his bodyguard in DR Congo. A former minister of Health, Prof Ransome Kuti was buried. In my eyes Chuba Okadigbo rose, fell and died. Abubakar Rimi and Alex Ekwueme who contested a Presidential primaries with incumbent Obasanjo in 2003 at the same Eagle Square had their funerals organized. In my eyes, "almighty" Tony Aneni laid in-state helplessly in Benin. Prof Dora Akunyili, the strong woman who was everywhere, fell on a street of India. In my eyes, "Evil Genius" begin to wear canvass on an agbada on a wheelchair in Minna as he watches life without his once powerful wife, Maryam. In my eyes Edwin Ume Ezeoke was buried, Gen. Victor Malu's obituary was in the news. In my eyes, a Sultan fell from the sky, the remains of the owner of Bolingo Hotel was seen at Lisa village. In my eyes Bola Ige fell, Suntai crashed and died, once landlords of Plateau and Taraba, Dariye and Nyame walked into prisons. In my eyes, almighty Olabode George went and came out of prisons. Justice Salami heard the news of the death of Justice Katsina Alu. In my eyes, a Landlord fell in Kwara and a strongman won election in Kogi but never lived to hear his victory announcement. In my eyes, Azazi reigned and fell, Yakowa never lived to tell a story. Oronto Douglas who was once a powerful man behind the throne was buried. In my eyes, Yar'adua came and fizzled out of power like two of his ministers. In my eyes, Solomon Lar that sat that day as PDP Chairman, a symbol of power and affluence was buried on a plateau. In my eyes, I saw strong men rise and fall very cheaply. If this writeup should teach us anything, let it be known that power is transient. God gives who he wants to give. He says "I will have mercy on who I want to have mercy on". To those of you today in power, where would you be in the next twenty years? In 2039 when names like Buhari,Akpabio, Atiku, Amaechi,Ayade,Wike, Saraki, Ekweremadu, Tambuwal, Mark, Dave, Onu etc. are mentioned what would that child write about them then? As we approach life, especially these elections, have it in mind that POLITICAL POWER IS NOT PERMANENT. THIS SAME POWER HAS CONSUMED MEN, DESTROYED MARRIAGES, CUT SHORT DREAMS, ENDED RELATIONSHIPS, BETRAYED TRUSTS AND KILLED FELLOW HUMANS... Is it worth dying for? May God bless and save Nigeria |
Exclusive: Fear of presidential election result cancellation looms as INEC has no result sheets for inspection by Atiku 12 days after presidential election It’s almost two weeks after the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does not have full results in its kitty. Worse still is the fact that INEC does not have result sheets and other materials it used for collation of the results, causing anxiety and fears of annulment of elections aftermath of court ruling on Wednesday. Daily Mail reports that, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday granted the election result challenger, Atiku Abubakar, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leave to inspect all election materials. That court leave is causing confusion in INEC as to what to do. Daily Mail gathered that, soon after the court ruling, INEC on Wednesday ordered its legal department to look into the ruling to advise it appropriately, a source in the know revealed. Even of concern is why INEC has yet to provide details of the outcome of the polls either on its website or at its state offices. Checks conducted by Daily Mail through INEC online portal, calls to its states’ offices, wards, local governments, federal constituencies and senatorial districts showed no physical collation or online release of the results. This is causing fears the election results may have been cooked as efforts were rather placed on declaring winners than following processes as allowed by extant laws before declaration of election results could be done. When Daily Mail enquired from Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, it was not successful. Also, attempts to speak with Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner on Voter Education was also unsuccessful as his phone rang out. But several sources told Daily Mail that it should normally take few weeks to collate all election materials “owing to the magnitude of the election and the materials used. “Nigeria is a large country, we shouldn’t be hasty in some issues but I can agree with you that at least all the materials and equipment used should have been at states’ offices.” Asked why state offices are yet to have the equipment and materials, he said state offices should be asked or INEC “higher authority would be in a position to answer that.” A source at the legal department of INEC told Daily Mail on phone that “it was always going to be tough providing the materials the court has ordered. “I don’t know why materials used during the election have not be submitted but I am not in a position to speak – I am in the legal department, my mandate is not to speak on issues like this.” According to her, “There should be something to inspect, in fact all things being sought should be available for a petitioner to examine – that’s what all relevant laws in the country says.” When asked what if the petitioner cannot provide the materials being sought, she responded, “That is left for the court to decide, but it could mean cancellation of result because you can’t announce nothing for something.”...

Buhari was on NTA this evening. Many youths were asking him questions. He pretended to be writing down the questions, When it was time to answer the questions, he could not remember any of the questions asked him. He stared at the note that he himself has been writing on since and said 'This thing that is written is not clear. Fashola had to come to his rescue. The moderator had to tell the audience not to direct their questions to Buhari but to the ministers around. Hehehehe Nigeria has suffered..Who did we offend..

Am just wondering.... Fayose left office as Ex Governor of Ekiti State and he was invited by EFCC. Aregbesola left office as Ex Governor of Osun State but he was invited for a dinner by President Buhari. Senator Adeleke was invited by police for Examination malpractices. Former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun under President Buhari was involved in Certificate forgery but she was escorted to the airport to fly out to the United Kingdom. As a Nigerian I don't understand the criteria PMB is using to fight corruption. Can anybody tell Nigerians the criteria PMB is using. God Help This Country..

former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has promised to accompany a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose as he visits the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday. Fani-Kayode recalled that when he spent 90 days in the cell of the Commission, Fayose came and encouraged him. Fayose is expected at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at 1pm on Tuesday where he will be answering questions on fund he allegedly collected from the office of National Security Adviser during the last administration. “When I was in the EFCC detention for 60 days and then another 30 days, he came to see me. They were shaking that a sitting governor could come to the EFCC and they came to bring me to see him from one of the underground cells and all he was saying was, ‘Know that God is with you, God is alive,’” Fani-Kayode said during Fayose’s send off dinner night. “As you stood by us when we went through challenges, so shall we stand by you from October 16 when we go to the EFCC to go and see them. “Nothing can overcome you because God is with you,” he added.

Everything you need to live well Seun Kuti, the son of late legendary Nigerian singer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has slammed American rapper, Kanye West who took to Instagram to brag about making the best music in the planet. Kanye in his boast had said he makes good music and is also the best act in the planet because the spirits of Fela, Mandela and 2Pac lives through him. However Seun Kuti seems not to agree with his claims, and he took to Instagram to make this explicitly clear in a post he shared. Seun who is also a singer himself wrote; Erm erm on behalf of the Kuti family , I want to state that the spirit of Olufela Anikulapo Kuti isn’t anywhere near Kanye West. @ziggymarley over to you. @oldmanebro come get ur boi before I #getthesax This is coming on the heels of Kanye West arriving in Uganda with his family, Kim Kardashian and daughter North West where he was spotted vibing to some afrobeat songs. Atiku Abubakar is known for many things, but we will not be talking about things you might expect, such as his involvement in business or politics. Today, we will tell you about Atiku Abubakar children. You will be able to find out how many kids he has fathered over the years, as well as to see what paths they have taken in their lives. So check this article out if you want to know more about them. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: guardian.ng Atiku Abubakar family We will not go into the detailed Atiku Abubakar history because it might steer us away from the topic of this article. That said, we cannot avoid mentioning a big part of Atiku Abubakar biography, which is his personal life. In case you do not know, the man has had several wives over the years who have given him many children. And by many we do not mean ten or even fifteen. According to various reports, Atiku Abubakar currently has 26 kids, although some sources claim that the number might be even higher. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: liveofofo.com With his first wife, Amina Titi Atiku Abubakar, he has four children: Fatima, Halima, Aminu and Adamu. With his second wife, Ladi Atiku Abubakar (who he has since divorced), he has six children: Atiku Jr., Abba, Ummi, Zainab, Rukayatu and Mariam. With his third wife, Rukaiyatu Atiku Abubakar, he has seven children: Hadiza, Aisha, Aliyu, Mustafa, Asmau, Abdulsalaam and Laila. With his fourth wife, Fatima Atiku Abubakar, he has six children: Mohammed, Amina, twins Shehu and Ahmed, and twins Zainab and Aisha. With his fifth wife, Jamila Atiku-Abubakar (she became fourth after his divorce from Ladi), he has three children: Faisal, Zahra and Abdulmalik. He certainly wasted no time creating heirs for himself. But who are they as people? Are they known for being something more than just children of Atiku Abubakar? Let’s find out. What we know about Atiku Abubakar children Atiku Abubakar children Photo: newsghana.com.gh Taking into account how popular and famous their father is, you would think that Atiku’s children would be in the limelight as well. We thought so too, but then we started researching all of his children (and it was a right hassle, believe us). Therefore, we will share what we could find about some of them, and if you come across some new information that we do not mention, let us know. Without further ado, let’s get to it. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: fatimaatiku..com Atiku’s eldest daughter Fatima is currently a Honourable Commissioner at the Ministry of Health. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Obstetrics, Surgery and Medicine from the University of Dublin, a Master’s degree in Public Health from the London’s Imperial College and a postgraduate diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, among many other qualifications. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: akpraise.ng The name of Atiku’s son Aminu might be familiar to you because of his several-year long custody battle with his ex-wife that has been widely publicised. After Aminu Atiku Abubakar wedding in 2007, the couple lived together until 2011 had two children and then split. For the past few years, they have been fighting in court over the custody of their kids, with Aminu playing on the losing side. However, the battle is still ongoing. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: yabaleftonline.ng Several other children of Atiku are mostly known for having lavish weddings. For instance, three of his daughters decided to get married at the same day! On November 13, 2015, Walida married Murtala, Aisha married Bamanga, and Asmau married Jameel. By the way, Asmau also has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Education. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: fabmimi.com It turned out that a lot of Atiku’s children are married. Abba (Atiku Abubakar son) wedding back in 2014 was very beautiful, as both he and his new bride Mariana Saleeby-Velilla sported fashionable garments fit for princes and princesses. In the same year, his brother Shehu got married as well. Their sister Rukaiya also had a stunning wedding ceremony on November 19, 2016, when she married the son of Colonel Sani, Aminu Sani Bello. Atiku Abubakar children Photo: 1push.ng A few of Abubakar’s sons take after their father, as some of them are entrepreneurs. For example, we have Aliyu Atiku, a graduate of American University of Nigeria, who is the Executive Director at Priam Group. His brother Mustapha, Bachelor of Law (City University, London) is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Haynes-Worth International (or at least he was, four years ago). Mohammed is the General Manager at Adama Beverages. Atiku Jr. seems to be involved in the fashion industry, but more on the creative side of things. As you can see, we have not been able to find out about all Atiku Abubakar’s children. Some of them live their lives away from the attention of the press, while some are actually too young to be in the news. That said, if you know something else about his kids, let us and our readers know about it. We would love to hear from you. Source: Naija.ng

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday wrote a petition to President Muhammad Buhari over threats to his life and those of his family members due to his decision to contest the presidential election in 2019. Atiku, an aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed this in a petition he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari on September 7, 2019. The petition, entitled “Petition Over Criminal Intimidation And Threat To My Life, That Of Members Of My Family, And Cyber Stalking Using Mobile Phone Number 08148228704,” was copied to the PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus. In the petition, which was seen by our correspondent, Atiku requested more police protection for his family and himself from the president, disclosing that he, his wife and daughters had received separate text messages from a mobile line stating that unless he backs out of the race, his family members would be raped and killed. Atiku noted that he received a threat text message on his mobile line on September 8 this year, and said the same number sent rape and death threats to his wife and daughter. According to the presidential aspirant, the author of the text message he got on September 8 this year said he or she was watching Atiku’s family and that they would rape and kill his wife, Jennifer, as well as his daughters, Maryam and Fatimah. The former vice president called on President Buhari to order an urgent investigation into the matter, as it could lead to serious security breaches. The former vice president wrote: “I present my highest compliments to the president and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and have the honour to request your excellency’s kind review/investigation and urgent consideration of extra protection for my family and I against some criminal intimidation and threat to my life, that of my family, and the cyber stalking against my family and I, using telephone mobile number +2348148228704.” Atiku, in the petition, said the author threatened that if he did not withdraw from the presidential contest, “we will kill, rape your wife and daughters”, whom they identified as Mariam, who worked at Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Fatima, a former commissioner in Adamawa State. The petition also stated that the author threatened to “mess up his wife”, whom they used unsavoury expressions against, He listed some of threats to include: “We will blow your plane off the sky and we will poison you and your family. You are going to see what we will go with your family. We know where and where your children travel to. We will blow up all your properties and those of his wife. We control the aviation towers in Nigeria and South Africa. We are on (sic) government and Buhari will win again. Your party members will never select you and, if they do, we will assassinat (sic) you. We will kill you by blowing up your plane.” In separate text messages to Atiku’s wife and daughter, the same author told them to prevail on Atiku to back down from the contest or they will be harmed. The former vice president, however, said, “From the foregoing, Mr President can see that if adequate and urgent steps are not taken to identify and deal with these threats, it could lead to serious breaches and may constitute real danger to national security. “Considering that these threats border on the right of my family and I to life as well as my freedom to aspire for and contest for the presidency in Nigeria, I urge you to commence urgent investigation with a view to identifying the person (s) behind the threat, expose and prosecute the culprit (s) in accordance with the laws. “I request that you ensure the continued protection of my rights to life, that of my family, my property and my rights and freedoms to associate and aspire to any political office as guaranteed under the 1999 Nigerian constitution (as amended),” he said.

There are speculations that the All Progressives Congress is planning to pick a running mate from the south-east for President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019 presidential elections. It was reported by The Guardian that the alleged plan of dropping Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate in 2019 by the APC is the reason why the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has stalled the declaration of his running mate till date. However, it was gathered that Atiku may be choosing a running mate from the south-east which of course did not go down well with the party members from the southwest. The PDP southwest members had urged their southeast colleagues to concede the slot for vice president to the South west since they could not clinche the position of the party’s national chairman which has already been taken by the southeastern region. Meanwhile, many people have been suggested to Atiku to choose as running mate. People like Mazi Osita Chidoka, former Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Prof. Barth Nnaji surfaced, ostensibly to push back on the considerations being given to the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi. Finally further reports said the southwest are mounting pressures on Atiku Abubakar to consider the incumbent President of African Development Bank (AfDB) and former Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, as a running mate as he is described to be a feasible candidate on the score of Southwest accommodation and buy-in of the international community.
