FoodRe: Give Me A Good Reason Why People Chew Meat Last When Eating. by odumchi: 7:57pm On Jun 08, 2011
It's a sign of respect and humbleness. Children are told to finish food and eat meat last so they won't become greedy or focus only on the meat. And also meat fills the belly more than food and after eating meat, people tend to become full.

PoliticsRe: Should Ojukwu Apologise For The Civil War? by odumchi: 11:02pm On Jun 06, 2011
Ojukwu has nothing to apologize for other than his flee to Cote d' Ivoire in which he said he was going to negotiate peace deals. This was a lie though.

Ojukwu only drew a line in the map and said that "If you are an Igboman seeking protection from the pogroms and cross this line, then you are Safe. He reinforced that line with troops and then declared the area "Biafra". Ojukwu tried his best. Within those three years, he made Biafra the most advanced black nation on earth; we manufactured our own weapons, designed our own vehicles, and produced our own oil-- three things that Nigeria is yet unable to do.
PoliticsRe: Should Ojukwu Apologise For The Civil War? by odumchi: 10:53pm On Jun 06, 2011
40 years later and yet the Igboman is still politically handicapped on Nigeroa despite being a majority force socially, culturally and ECONOMICALLY. Things will never change unless Nigeria is led by an Igbo man or unless a leader comes to his or her senses and offers Igbos their seat at the Table of Nigeria. This can be reached if:

1. A new Igbo state belonging to the SE is carved out of Benue State.
2. Delta state and Rivers state are incorporated into SE.
3. Ethnic and religious tension is relieved by the open reconciliation of Nigeria with it's Eastern provinces or the foundation of an Igbo nation in Eastern Nigeria.
Until then the open sore of Biafra will continue to bleed and generations of Nigerians directly responsible with the calamity and genocide of 1967-1970 will continue to suffer for the mistakes of their ancestors.

CultureRe: Nairaland Official Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba Dictionary by odumchi(mod): 10:34pm On Jun 01, 2011
Ive noticed a striking similarity between a few Yoruba and Igbo words.
In many Niger-Congo languages the letter "m" is used as a possessive particle.

ex Igbo: My Husband "Di'm"
ex Yoruba: My Husband "Oko mi"

Related Words:
Yoruba: Igbo: Meaning:
Uwa. Agwa. Behavior or Conduct
o. o. He, she, it

And if I may ask what does "Ife and Oyo" translate to in Yoruba if at all it has any meaning?
Please I hope you don't mind my asking I am fascinated in languages. smiley

Thanks for pointing that out to me Ekt. Well before this gets too sidetracked from the main topic let us stop. It was good arguing with you for a while. I still agree with my statements just as I'm sure you agree with yours. In a state like Nigeria, tolerance is the only way to survive.
As for Bk.Babe i hope you took notes on what I told you grin
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 4:01am On May 28, 2011

you are finally understanding me! I have seen you're disagreement and I am tolerant. I've expressed my opinion and you've expressed yours. You don't have to believe me nor do I have to believe you. Unlike Bk Babe on the other hand we can peacefully disagree with each other.
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 3:57am On May 28, 2011
So John Adams was alive in 1860 after finishing his term in 1805 Abi? The post is referring to 1812 war because the US faces the Issue of non-alignment since it was trading with the British and French who were at war. Both sides were attacking American cargo ships that were headed for their enemy and the US declared war on Britain after several US ships were sunk by the Royal Navy.

But thats not the issue, get back to the main topic and don't get side tracked  grin
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 3:39am On May 28, 2011
@ ekt bear
your forst post was referring to the war of 1812 not the US Civil War. John Adams was the 2nd US president (1797-1801, 1801-1805) And Wikipedia is not a good source of info. Anyone can log into it and change information. Intact here in America, college professors don't accept Wikepedia as a source for info. grin

@ Bk.babe
You continue to post tons of worthless information. What im saying is that were all of those pledges presented to the Emir of Sokoto, the Oba of Ife and Oyo, and the various Kingdoms of Igboland before Nigeria was united in 1914? Did all the ethnicities hold a congressional meeting and write those pledges before Nigeria was formed? Was anyone consulted on wether or not to join Nigeria? No, no, no.
So as long as such a thing happens, everyone has the right to secede at any moment. The American 13 colonies all held a constitutional Congress in Pennsylvania in 1775 and each state agreed to join into the Union this justifies the Norths ability to wage war against the South inorder to preserve the agreement. Such a thing didn't happen in Nigeria so they are incomparable.
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 3:05am On May 28, 2011
@ Ekt bear
It seems you aren't fluent in US history. Britain was dependent on Southern Cotton rather than any Northern products. The North produced nothing that Britain could not produce itself. Britain was more interested in Southern cotton which it used to make textiles via India. So if the North won, slavery would have been banned meaning reduced cotton production which meant reduced cotton exports to Britain. So Britain had everything to gain from the South winning.

US and Britain supported Nigeria by donating battleships to Nigeria which were used to Blockade the Bight of Biafra. Before this Nigeria had no navy other than a few fishing boats based in Lagos.

@ Bk.Babe
How am I a faker? I have calmly presented my case and gave peacefully presented you with my disagreement. You say that they swore allegiance to Nigeria, says who? The Union of Southern Nigeria and the Islamic Caliphate of North Nigeria was created by the drawings of an English cartographer without pure consent of anyone. After this they came and hung up British flags in our villages and called us Nigeria.Did all the ethnicities of Nigeria congregate and have a meeting on wether or not to unite? NO. so don't give me any Bullshit on unity and allegiance. Until that happens, everyone has the right to secede.
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 2:31am On May 28, 2011
@ Bkbabe
Your post makes no sense to me. sad
International law dictates that no nation shall be involved in another nations civil war. In US civil War if Britain had assisted the south there would have been two Americas. In Sudanese civil war if Egypt assisted Northern Sidsn the independent State of South Sudan wouldn't have existed today. Let me tell you if the US and Britain had not been involved in Biafra, Biafra would have lasted much longer and possibly won the conflict. All Biafra needed was the sea to import food from friendly countries like Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Britain helped Nigeria bcus it wanted to maintain ties with it's colony and US helped because it wanted to support it's Ally Britain but I digress. Biafran troops were guerillas and they had homefield advantage. If the food supply hadn't been cut, The Biafran conflict would have been one of insurgency.

International Law also dictates that each and every man is born with certain unaliable rights such as the right to: freedom, liberty, self determination and the pursuit of happiness. So if your people are being massacred by the thousands in a country in which you did not ask to join, why wouldn't you declare independence and secede. If 30,000 Yorubas were massacred in Kano just because they were Yoruba, wouldnt the West secede? Ojukwu was an instrument of the people. We used him to try and liberate us but he tried. Igbos were the first to see the troubles in Nigeria, but once again I digress.

If at all anything, Gowonn should be tried for War crimes , violation of international law, and for genocide. The blood of 1 million Igbos rests upon his head.
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves N1.5 Billion For Ojukwu, Ex-briafran Soldiers by odumchi: 10:36pm On May 27, 2011
A right step on the right direction. Jonathan Is finally trying to reconcile the Igbos and the rest of Nigeria. The money is good but the question is will it ever reach the people it is meant for? Nigeria is notorious for creating various budgets and massive spending but yet the use of the money is never seen. I pray that this money will be used for what it was intended. ISEE.

And again for all of you people spewing nonsense out of jealousy or whatever I say sit down and accept something good for once. Which one be your own now? When Money is spent you complain when no money is spent you still complain. This will hopefully pay those thousands of soldiers that served for Biafra Republic in the name of Jesus.

You are begging for no reason. You people are very hostile and ate nosy. In what way did I involve any of you into this? I did not say @ Jason or @ Alj rather @OP. I am not attempting to derail this rather you are by continuing to post your insignificant replies.
And do you know what Bigotry is? It is continuing to ignore the viewpoints of others and accepting only your own. I have expressed my viewpoint and you do not want me to express my opinion but yet I am the bigot?

I am enjoying the posts here and am only adding my thoughts. A word is enough for the wise.

Bigoted excuses? Where did I express any bigotry? What I am saying is that I expected the author to post about the other ethnicities of Nigeria. So please if you are not the author why are you speaking? Did I adress it to you?

It shows how people are looking for trouble. Common people cannot mind their business.
